Problems scaling width of movieclip with Tween class

In my app I'm scaling the width of a movieclip using the
Tween class.
My problem is that the new scaled width is not right.
Is this a bug in the as3 code? Does anyone have a solution?
trace(graphPanel.width) // 500
scaleValue = 5;
new Tween(graphPanel, "scaleX", None.easeNone, 1, scaleValue,
2,
true);
trace(graphPanel.width) // 2494.25

Sounds like you need to scale the star object inside of the star_mc. So you just need to make the star into a sprite/movie clip (how ever you want ot do it) then target that with the scaleX & scaleY, something like,
star_mc.star.scaleX = star_mc.star.scaleY = 1.5;

  • Control MovieClip with a Class? A.S. 3.0

    Hello,
    I have a question. In my fla file i have drawn a square. I
    gave it a class name "Vierkant".
    In the same folder i created this class. Why doesn't there
    apear a square ?
    Or is this not possible from within a class?

    if I read this right, you have drawn a square on stage, put
    it inside a movieclip, and associated that clip with the class
    "Vierkant". I this is what you've done, then the asset is already
    on the stage, so you should see it for sure, unless it's positioned
    off-stage.
    If the above assumption is correct, in your class code,
    square = new MovieClip(); is a blank movieclip that you
    created. It's not the square that's in the FLA. The square that
    you're trying to have show up is the Vierkant class object itself,
    i.e. "this".

  • Possible with tween class...

    Can you using the tween class have your tween go into a certain point? i.e. certain coordinates?

    What do you mean by using two tweens simulataneously...currently here is the script Im using..
    import mx.transitions.Tween;
    SceneZoomer = ;
    for (var j:Number = 0; j < SceneZoomer.length; j++) {
        SceneZoomer[j].onPress = function() {
            zoomIn(map);
        SceneZoomer[j].onRollOut = function() {
            zoomOut(map);
    function zoomIn(mc:MovieClip) {
        var xs:Tween = new Tween(map, "_xscale", mx.transitions.easing.None.easeOut, map._xscale, 275, 2, true);
        var ys:Tween = new Tween(map, "_yscale", mx.transitions.easing.None.easeOut, map._yscale, 275, 2, true);
    function zoomOut(mc:MovieClip) {
        var xs:Tween = new Tween(map, "_xscale", mx.transitions.easing.None.easeOut, mc._xscale, 100, 2, true);
        var ys:Tween = new Tween(map, "_yscale", mx.transitions.easing.None.easeOut, mc._yscale, 100, 2, true);
    It zooms into my map mc when I click on my location 1 mc, but it zooms to the center of my map, is it possible to zoom to certain coordinates rather than the center, basically to zoom to where my location1 mc is
    Thanks

  • Lots of problems building a large executable with LVOOP classes

    I have a large project that makes significant use of LVOOP.  It is essentially a test executive that sequences lots of different types of tests in a configurable way.  I used to use a ton of variants in and out of these tests so they could be used interchangably in the archetecture of my application, but when LVOOP came out I rewrote my test executive to us an LVOOP class called "GTSTest".  Then I have about 10 sub-classes that inherit from the "Test" class.  Each of those sub classes are the actual specific tests.  Here is a shot of the project:
    You can see I am creating a main class called "GTSTest" and that gives me polymorphism of any specific kind of test like "Torque Center.lvclass" and "AutoLinearize.lvclass".  It works fantastic in the development environment.
    My problem now is I can't build anything with any of the LVOOP stuff into an executable.  I originally added all the classes as dynamic vi's because some of them pop up their front panels.  An application engineer suggested taking them out of the dynamic vi's section, but that didn't make any difference.  Here is the error I am getting:
    TestExec Build error:

    Autolinearize.ctl is the alphebetical first class's private data definition.  So what's going on?  I made all the classes dynamic and it gives me the error.  I made none of the classes dynamic and it gives me the error.  But actually I know I'm going to need at least some methods of all the classes dynamic because a couple of the methods get subpanelled in the program so I need the front panels.
    I've searched everywhere and I see no documentation at all about how to build LVOOP into an executable.  But clearly you need to do something special for this to work.  Can anyone help me?

    I got 99 problems but 8.6 ain't one.

    OK I figured out what is going on.
    RULES FOR CREATING EXE’S WITH LVOOP
    1.      Do not put any lvclass or any “dynamic vi” of any lvclass in the “Dynamic vi’s and Support Files” section of the source files tab in the build window.  Yes I know they are called “dynamic vi’s” in the LVOOP structure and one would assume you may need the front panels etc., but somehow they get loaded in automatically and if you explicitly include them as dynamic vi’s I think they conflict with themselves somehow.  If you do this you will get the following error:
    Error 13 occurred at Invoke Node in ABAPI Dist read linkages.vi->ABAPI Dist Cmp Settings to Disk Hier.vi->ABAPI Get Settings From File2.vi->EBEP_Invoke_Build_Engine.vi->EBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi->EBUIP_Build_Rule_Editor.vi->EBUIP_CreateNewWizard_Invoke.vi->EBUIP_CreateNewWizard_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller

    Method Name: Linker:Read Info From File
    O:\Software\MfgTest\Galvo Test Station (GTS)\Classes\Tests\Auto-Linearize\AutoLinearize.lvclass\AutoLinearize.ctl
    In this case “Autolinearize.ctl” is the first class definition in the build.
    2.      In the additional Exclusions section, you cannot use the “Remove as much as possible” option.  This disconnects typedef definitions, and I think it is misinterpreting lvclasses and trying to disconnect the class definitions, which breaks the application.  Of course, you don’t get any reasonable error message when this happens.  It will give you an error 1502 as shown below:
    An error occurred while building the following file:
    O:\Software\MfgTest\Galvo Test Station (GTS)\GTSExecutionMenu.vi
    The VI became broken during the build process. Open the Build Specification and enable debugging to include the front panel and block diagrams.

    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  Cannot save a bad VI without its block diagram.
    “GTSExecutionMenu.vi” was my highest level vi that included any lvclass wires.  Maybe that’s why it returned its name.  Anyway what is really happening is some screw up where it breaks any vi containing any lvclass.  If you enable debugging the application will work, but then if you connect to it from the development environment it will suddenly break and you can trace down and see the broken class vi’s.  To fix this, the “Remove unreferenced project library members” option worked for me to keep the LVOOP intact.  Of course it blows up your exe a lot bigger because you are now including every variation of every polymorphic vi instead of just the ones you are using.  You shouldn’t have to do this.  There is a bug in the “Remove as much as possible” option which removes LVOOP definitions that aren’t possible to remove without breaking things.  I hope this helps for the next guy that tries to use LVOOP.

  • Glitch with tween class?

    Hey everyone, I have a site that incorprerates several different tweens, one tween running on a timer in the main movie(scrolling text), another intitiated with a button click (scrolling images) within a movie thats loaded into the main movie. My issue is that the tweens sometimes freeze, especially the scrolling text and once in a while, at random images, the scrolling pictures tween freezes. I should mention that I have several different EventListeners going off in the background for mouse clicks, and I have small (15k) swfs being loaded into the movie every 3.5 seconds.. Would anyone know why the tweens freeze at times? could it have something to do with all the loading and EventListeners or is this something I have to live with?
    Thanks for reading and any suggestions you may have;
    The rough copy of the site is www.sunnysideosc.ca (select Gallery > Pictures)

    Sorry, I got ahead of my self, how do I make my tween not eligible for garbage collection?
    this is wad I'm using :
    function fFunction(passX:Number):void {
          var myTweenX:Tween=new Tween(mMC,"x",Elastic.easeInOut,mMC.x,passX,3,true);
          var myTweenA:Tween=new Tween(mMC,"alpha",Elastic.easeInOut,.3,1,3,true);
          myTweenX.addEventListener(TweenEvent.MOTION_STOP, mStopT);
          function mStopT(e:TweenEvent):void {
           mCL.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,startScrollXL);
           mCR.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,startScrollXR);
           mCL.alpha=1;
           mCR.alpha=1;
           if (xValue==4) {
            mCL.alpha=.3;
            mCL.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,startScrollXL);
    Thanks for your posts! (SORRY for the double post, laptop froze, didn't think it went through)

  • Tween Class fails

    Hi,
    i was looking for some help with tween class beacuse i have a strange problem. I'm working with AS3, when i test my project, sometimes the Tween fails, sometimes it works. It's really strange, i don't know why. The animation stops before the end point. The most strange for me is why sometimes it works and sometimes no?
    My code is geting a little complex, then i tried to do the same process in a simple model, and the result was the same, i run the model many times, in 5 or 3 % the animation finished before the correct end point. Does anybody with the same problem?
    Thanks in advanced!
    Henrique.

    Thanks clbeech!
    In fact, i was using one code line (var nameTween:Tween = new Tween(...)) and calling this line many times by a Timer event. But, how can i use diferent names for the tween var? May i use a counter like var nameTween[counter]:Tween = new Tween(...)?
    My code is a little big and confuse, i'll try to solve the problem without publish the code. If i don't find a solution, i'll organize it and them put it here.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Rotating and scaling a movieclip withing only its parent width and height

    Dear friends,
    I'd like to rotate a movieclip within specific area (its parent width and height) and it can't rotate out of it.
    How can I achieve that.
    When I say for exampe:
    mc.rotation = 10;
    it rotates also outside the parent area.
    How can I restrict it to only parent area.
    Thank you in advance.

    [OTTOMH]
    With each rotation step you could check the bounds of the rotating MC. If it's greater than the containing MC, you can calculate the scale factor and apply it to the x- and y-scale of the rotating clip.
    The clip would have to be deadcentre in the containing clip for this to work though.
    I suppose there would be some mathimatical way with most primitive shapes to calculate the width and height with a certain rotation, but I suppose this would be easiest.

  • Problem with Tweens and HitTest

    Hi guys,
    I have a problem with by code generated Tweens and HitTest.
    But first of all the backgeround info. I have a couple of dots. They are generated from a single movieclip and differ in scale. The idea is, that the biggest one ist set to the middle position of the stage.
    The others are coming from the outer stage border and are moving towards the middle position. This is done by using the Tween class.
    What should happen is, that they stop exactly at the border of the dots which are already in the middle. In the beginning there is just the main, big dot which was manually positioned to the middle. When the first dot reached its position, the bounding box should include this new dot.
    I use the hitTestObjects method to stop the Tweeing.
    The problem is, that there is a 80% chance that the dots have gaps or overlapping each other. Any thoughts on that?
    Thanks for every reply!
    This is the hitTesting Code in the main class:
    public function hitTesting(e:Event):void{
                                  for(var i:int=0; i<dotArray.length;i++){
                                                      for(var j:int=i+1; j<dotArray.length;j++){
                                                                if(dotArray[i].hitTestObject(dotArray[j])==true){
                                                                          dotArray[i].stopTweening();
                                                                          dotArray[j].stopTweening();
    This is the code for a single Dot
    public function Dot(anchorArray:Array,randomX:int,randomY:int,scaleVal:Number,first:Boolean, delayVal:Number, lastElement:Boolean, values:Array) {
         this.x=randomX;
         this.y=randomY;
         this.scaleX=this.scaleY=scaleVal;
         this.valueName=values[0];
         this.countValue=values[1];
         this.gRanking=values[2]
         this.lastElement= lastElement;
         this.first=first;
          if(!first){
               this.xTween = new Tween(this, "x", None.easeNone, this.x, anchorArray[0], 20, false);
               this.yTween = new Tween(this, "y", None.easeNone, this.y, anchorArray[1], 20, false);
               this.xTween.start();
               this.yTween.start();
    public function stopTweening():void{
      if(!first){
          if(lastElement)
               parent.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, parent.hitTesting);
          xTween.stop();
          yTween.stop();

    Ok guys,
    found a solution. It seems to be, that the build in HitTest functionality is to inaccurate for my problem.
    I found a better implementation here.
    Tanks for reading.

  • HELP PLZ!! Array Button Menu that fades in/out content with Tweener or Tween Class...!!!

    OK.
    So I've been trying the last couple of days to make 2 different codes i had into one...
    The first on is using the Tweener class and everytime that I press a button it fades out the loaded content of the previous selection, waits for it to finish and then loads the content of the button pressed. Everything works fine with this part.
    The second code is the on that is using an Array to dynamicaly rollover, rollout and keep selected the buttons.
    It was also changing the content of the mc that everything is loaded on but without this fancy fade in - fade out...!!
    So i think its time for some code now...:
    Here are 2 different approaches:
    This is the code that uses the onMotionFinished of the Tween Class:
    var groupinfo:Array = [ {mc:about, toload:"mcHome"},
         {mc:service, toload:"mcService"},
         {mc:contact, toload:"mcContact"}];
    var activebtn:MovieClip;
    var holder1:MovieClip = _root.attachMovie("mcHome", "mcMain", 10);
    holder1._x = 0;
    holder1._y = 110;
    function doClick() {
    //          \/THE PROBLEM IS FROM HERE\/
         if (this != activebtn){
              var mcTween:Tween = new Tween(mcMain, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 100, 0, 1, true);
              mcTween.onMotionFinished = function() {
                   _root.holder1.attachMovie(this.p, "mcMain", 1);
                   var mcTween2:Tween = new Tween(mcMain, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 0, 100, 10, true);
    //          /\UNTIL HERE/\
         var prevbtn:MovieClip = activebtn;
         activebtn = this;
         this.gotoAndStop(FADEINSTOP);
         prevbtn.onRollOut();
    function init() {
       for (var element in groupinfo) {
          // btn is a pointer to one of the nav buttons
          var btn:MovieClip = groupinfo[element].mc;
          // have each button remember which library/mc it is supposed to load
          btn.p = groupinfo[element].toload;
          // assign functions to each event
          btn.onRollOver = doRollOver;
          btn.onRollOut = doRollOut;
          btn.onRelease = doClick;
    init();
    And the Example:
    The onMotionTween code works ok with the tweening but doesn't change the movieclip.
    This is the code that uses the caurina Tweener Class with no onMotionFinished:
    var groupinfo:Array = [{mc:about, toload:"mcHome"},
                                {mc:service, toload:"mcService"},
                                {mc:contact, toload:"mcContact"}];
    var activebtn:MovieClip;
    var holder1:MovieClip = _root.attachMovie("mcHome", "mcMain", 10);
    holder1._x = 0;
    holder1._y = 110;
    function doClick() {
    //          \/PROBLEM FROM HERE\/
         if (this != activebtn) {
              Tweener.addTween(mcMain,{_alpha:0, time:1, transition:"easeOutQuart"});
              var holder2:MovieClip = _root.attachMovie(this.p, "mcMain2", 11);
              holder2._alpha = 0;
              holder2._x = 0;
              holder2._y = 110;
              Tweener.addTween(mcMain2,{_alpha:100, time:1, delay:1, transition:"easeOutQuart"});
              mcMain = mcMain2;
    //           /\TO HERE!!!/\
         var prevbtn:MovieClip = activebtn;
         activebtn = this;
         this.gotoAndStop(FADEINSTOP);
         prevbtn.onRollOut();
    function init() {
         for (var element in groupinfo) {
              // btn is a pointer to one of the nav buttons
              var btn:MovieClip = groupinfo[element].mc;
              // have each button remember which library/mc it is supposed to load
              btn.p = groupinfo[element].toload;
              // assign functions to each event
              btn.onRollOver = doRollOver;
              btn.onRollOut = doRollOut;
              btn.onRelease = doClick;
    init();
    Other Example:
    The Tweener code works perfectly this first time but the second time removes the conent and does just the fade in.
    The code for the buton group i got it from                     here...
    Please could someone help me with this thing!!
    I think its a great piece of dynamic code if we can eventualy make it  work properly!!
    Thanksss!!!
    Shorten the code...  Left only the part that needs mod!!

    clbeech, Thank you but doesnt do anything either....!!It is a  bit usefull but... !!
    The problem is that the code cant give the "this.p" to the movieclip...
    Here is the mess i've made with few changes from your part... and alot of treces to wich detected that the this.p is can't get in the onMotionFinished function...
    its only the doClick function:
    function doClick() {

  • Problems scaling movieclip!

    Hi!
    I´m continuing the develoment of my first flash app.
    I created a movieclip with a star. This movie clip has a motion tween, that moves the star to the left and to the right.
    Now, when the mouse clicks over the star I want to scale it up.
    I´m using these simple commands:
    star_mc.scaleX=1.5;
    star_mc.scaleY=1.5;
    The problem is that the motion path is also being scaled.As a result, the star will move out of the window . This behaviour makes sense, but I have to manage to fix it.
    How can I scale only the star and not the motion path?
    My idea is hide that movieclip and show a scaled one in the mouse position. However I´m unsure about the "quality" of this solution.
    Is this a good idea?
    Best rgds

    Sounds like you need to scale the star object inside of the star_mc. So you just need to make the star into a sprite/movie clip (how ever you want ot do it) then target that with the scaleX & scaleY, something like,
    star_mc.star.scaleX = star_mc.star.scaleY = 1.5;

  • Problems with Embedded classes mapping

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing problems for table generation with the following case:
    a class declares two fields; one of them typed as a subclass of the other; both fields annotated with @Embedded; the subclass uses the annotation @AttributeOverride to avoid column names duplication.
    When the tables are generated, one of the field (the most specialized one) is simply omitted by the JPA implementation...
    To illustrate my problem, here is an example:
    @Entity
    public class Bar implements Serializable {
         @Embedded
         protected Foo foo = null;
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE)
         protected long id = -1;
         @Embedded
         protected SubFoo subFoo = null;
         public Bar() {
                    super();
            // getters & setters
    @Embeddable
    public class Foo implements Serializable {
         @Column
         protected String bar = null;
         @Column
         protected String foo = null;
         public Foo() {
              super();
            // getters & setters
    @Embeddable
    @AttributeOverrides({
         @AttributeOverride(name="bar", column=@Column(name="subbar")),
         @AttributeOverride(name="foo", column=@Column(name="subfoo"))
    public class SubFoo extends Foo {
         public SubFoo() {
                    super();
    }The generated table BAR contains only 3 columns: ID, FOO, BAR...
    ...and what I expect is two additionnal columns named SUBFOO & SUBBAR!
    Can someone tell me: if I definitely need to go back to school (I'm obviously not an EJB expert), or how to make it work as I expect...?
    Thanks
    -Jerome

    I found the note in the EJB specs that clearly states that my issue has no solution at this time:

    private void saveXml(Document document, String path) throws IOException {
    DOMImplementation implementation = document.getImplementation();
    DOMImplementationLS implementationLS = (DOMImplementationLS) (implementation.getFeature("LS", "3.0"));
    LSSerializer serializer = implementationLS.createLSSerializer();

    output.setByteStream(stream);

    problem with getFeature() method

    You are probably using an implementation of DOM which does not implement DOM level-3.

    What I have to do? Why getDeclatingClass () returns null, but in dejasmin code
    it returns Outer class?

    Outer$Inner naming convention is not used by JVM to get declaring class.
    You need to have proper InnerClasses attribute (refer to http://java.sun.com/docs/books/vmspec/2nd-edition/html/ClassFile.doc.html#79996)
    in the generated classes. Did you check using jclasslib or another class file viewer and verified that your .class files have proper InnerClasses attribute?

  • Still got problems with java class business operations

    Hi all,
    I've read the latest on business operations and java class files, but my problem
    remains - the workaround of putting the class file in the studio classpath did
    not work for me.
    To breifly recap the problem -
    I am unable to assign an instance variable when trying to call a predefined business
    operation of a java class. Calling the constructor seems to work okay and I can
    assign the result to a variable of type "java object" but that's as far as it
    goes. If I try placing the class file in the studio classpath, my "Instance Variable"
    dropdown list dims, but I am still prompted to choose one when I press okay.
    I'm using process integrator 2 sp2 on wls6.
    Please help!
    Regards
    Andrew

    Still no good. I'm running my testing on my own PC with windows 2000. Maybe a
    windows bug rather than a remote bug?!
    Anyone else have a suggestion?

    What platform are you running on?
    I have found the same problem when trying to run wlpi remotely.
    We have a sun box with the WLI installation. When i run wlpi on that
    box, and
    do the business operation configuration as u describe below, i get instance
    variables
    populated in the drop down box of the business operation window. I can
    then select
    the java object my instance is assigned to.
    However, when i connect remotely using the studio and try to view the
    business
    operation settings, nothing appears in the instance drop down box.
    When i go back to the console and run the studio on the same machine
    as the installation,
    the instance variable drop down is populated once again.
    So all i can say is, configure the workflow on the machine have the running
    installation,
    and then it should work. It did for me :)
    Hope this helps

  • Need help with AS 2 Tween class

    Hi,
    I'm using the tween class just fine, but I want my tween to
    move on a curve.
    I can't seem to figure out how to achievve this.
    I get the math to do this sort of thing, and I think I could
    manage it with
    AS3, but the project requires the use of AS2. I'm having
    issues
    transitioning what I know to what I need.
    Can anyone help??
    Thanks,
    KB

    you can use the tween class to update an object property and,
    if you have a parametric equation for your curve, you can use your
    tween's onMotionChanged event to update your object's _x and _y
    properties.
