Problems setting integrated security to false on sub reports
We can set the integrated security to false on the main report, but for some reason it is not working on sub reports. Is there an issue with this? Possibly a patch we need to apply?
I downloaded the SP0 patch for CR2008 and attempted to apply it, but it said something about doing this from control panel. I normally would expect a DOC or TXT file with some instructions on patching, but I just keep getting redirected to the business objects web site generic page when I try to get more information.

Object Reference not set to instance of Object when sub-report on new page
I have a problem when my sub-report goes onto the second page of the report, with an error message.
My VB.NET displays a report and sub-report (in the footer) in a CrystalReportViewer:
- When both are on the first page, both display fine
- When the sub-report (or at least part) goes to the second page, the report displays OK, but without the subreport. When I go to page 2 of the report - hoping to see the sub-report - an error message is displayed, with title "Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer" and text "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object".
This problem occurs both on my development machine in VS and at a user site.
Am desperate for some ideas please! I have VB.NET in Visual Studio 2010, and SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010. The program is targeted for .NET Framework 3.5.
I looked for the HandleException event on my Windows Forms Viewer, as suggested by SAP and Microsoft, but cannot find this. Performance problems with Integrated security and ODP

While testing performance for opening a data base connection, I notice there is a huge performace issue when using externally identified users and ODP with Oracle client 11.1.0.6 and .Net 3.5. The test is running 30 times slower with an externally identified user compared to using a database identified user.
I also noticed that System.Data.OracleClient does not result in any significant performance penalties for externally vs database identified users.
The test environment is Vista 64 and VS2008, and I do not notice any significant difference using 32bit vs 64bit Oracle client.
Is this a known problem and does it exist a workaround for this?

I'm assuming you're using 11.1.6.0 ODP, so you'd want to upgrade to 11.1.6.21 or higher ODP. Prior to that, Externally Authenticated connections were not pooled so resulted in a hard connection every time.
If you have 111060 full client installed, applying the 11107 database patch to the cleint install will give you 11107 ODP. Or, you can add the [11106.20 ODAC bundle|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html] into your existing 111060 full client home as well.

Crystal reports not working when integrated security is set to true
Hello Everybody,
I have developed 20 crystal reports. When i deploy in my development environment(asp.net) these reports are working fine.My UAT environment is using application pool connection instead of database connection.
My .net developer has written a code and he set integrated security to true for reports. My problem is reports which are having parameters not working correctly. Reports which are not having any parameters, it is working fine. If i enter parameters in asp .net page, the report is running for all the values. It is not considering the parameter values.

Need more info, what version of CR assemblies, which OS is hosting the app and what patches, CR and OS are installed?
Have you discussed this issue with your developer? Possibly all of the runtime is not on the app server?

I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem. I have a main report and then 8 sub reports. My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number. One
of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf. My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value. The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts. If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
for all the accounts requested visible at once:
=IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
*The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD is different for each sub report.

According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
to the following steps:
1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
=Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
=IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.

The PROBLEM I am a Crystal Reports Newbie, and having to work through things bit by bitu2026 I've managed to achieve quite a lot, but I'm totally stuck with this and would appreciate some help. I need to create a report (essentially a letter and some datasheets) around a one-to-many relationship, which I have managed to compile using a main report (for the one [tblENQUIRY]) and sub report (for the many [tblDatasheets]). Essentially I need a covering letter, then the u2018manyu2019 datasheets, and then a number of other pages (which are largely static text). I have created a main report which includes the covering letter, holds a subreport for the datasheets, and then contains the text for the additional pages. This all works fine, and I get the correct number of datasheets for each main report. My problem stems from the use of this sub report. This sub-report needs to hold some attribute values for each datasheet, which is fine. However, on each datasheet page I need to have some paragraphs, which are held in another one to many relationship. Each datasheet may have up to six paragraphs held as a code in tblReportParas, with a relationship to the text as held in tblStandardParas. My original thought would have been to embed another sub report, containing the values from tblStandardParas!TEXT, into the first sub report. However, I have found that it is not possible to have a sub-report inside another sub-report. I had seperated the first sub-report out from the main report, and then embedded another sub-report into it. This worked fine until I tried to stitch the sub-report back into the main report (at which point the sub-sub-report dissapeared from view). I have therefore reworked my sub-report a little, and the attribution is now stored in a pageheader, with the tblStandardParas!TEXT in a detail section below it. This almost works! The only problem is that there is no relationship between the pageheader and detail sections. To clarify, I would expect to have one datasheet, with the attribution at the top, and then the six paras below. Then, the same on the next page (assuming there is a second datasheet) for that report. Instead, I get the correct attribution, but the detail section actually gives every paragraph in the database, no matter which datasheet/or report it related to! I therefore need to limit the detail section to only show those paragraphs where the SHEETID in tblReportParas is the same as the tblDatasheets SHEETID. I managed to resolve this myself in the end. I moves the tblEnquiry data into report header/footer sections, this allowed me to add the tblDatasheets information into the details section, which gave me multiple pages - and then finally, the Paragraphs were added through the use of a sub report.
There's probably an even better way, but for now it works, it's quick - and so I'm going to go with it!

Problems setting up WRT54G2 router
I'm having problems setting up my Linksys WRT54G2 router. I want my mac laptop (iBook G3 running OSX) to use a wireless connection, and the home computer (running Windows XP) to stay connected to the modem.
I originally tried to set up the router by connecting it via ethernet to my laptop (and by ethernet to the modem), and went into the 192.168.1.1 address to configure it. The internet works fine on my laptop when connected to the wireless by ethernet but it can't connect wirelessly (it has an original airport card fitted, at first I thought I might need to upgrade the firmware but I ran a software update and one didn't come up). I then realised that I would need to MAC clone from the PC, that is connected to the modem? I tried to do this today, but I couldn't access the 192.168.1.1 address from the PC. I have tried resetting the router, and disabling the firewall but still can't access it. This PC also has anti-virus software running too - could this be the problem, or am I setting it up wrong? Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect... -
Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application

and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.

He has IIS5 and me too.
I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
and in the connection string I have.

I've already ensured that the server is set to mixed authentication mode. Oddly enough, the workaround that I've found is that if I remote desktop into the server, log in and then log back out, Management Studio is suddenly able to connect again. No idea why it works.
As I said before, it is intermitten. Some days it errors on login, other days it doesn't and there are no configuration changes between them. Also, both client and server are in the same domain and same site so there is no VPN or anything in between. I'm really quite stumped. Any help would be great, or if you can point me in the right direction of where to look. Thank you in advance! -
SQL Server JDBC integrated security question
I'm assuming that the only way to create a connection to SQL Server using the JDBC driver is using IntegratedSecurity=false and not IntegrateSecurity=true? I can see the arguments for having it only work with false, but I just wanted to make sure so I can clear any questions up regarding security with our client's DBA. Thanks.

It is possible to use integrated security with ODI, you need to have the JDBC driver and the sqljdbc_auth.dll file in your drivers directory.
Your JDBC url will look like this: jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1113;integratedSecurity=true
It is detailed in a note on Metalink (568070.1), here is an extract:
To implement the solution:
1. Copy the "sqljdbc_auth.dll" file into ODI "/drivers" Folder on the computer where the JDBC driver is installed.
2. In ODI "/bin/odiparams.bat" configuration file, set the "java.libary.path" system property to specify the directory of the "sqljdbc_auth.dll" file, as follows:
set ODI_ADDITIONAL_JAVA_OPTIONS="-Djava.library.path=c:\oracle\oracledi\drivers" or, if ODI_ADDITIONAL_JAVA_OPTIONS has already been set, add "-Djava.library.path=..." to the existing string, as follows:

When you use integrated security = true it means the same as integrated security = SSPI and in this case the current Windows account credentials are used for authentication and if you set the integrated
security = false you have to provide UserName and Password . so for your question it uses the current windows account credentials.

If your code is executing on server in SharePoint (in webparts or features or application page). it will take the windows account of the server to connect to the database because all are executing on server not on client machine. your
login credentials has nothing to do with it.
Note: there are 2 authentication Windows Authentication and SQL Authentication so make sure that on database windows authentication is enabled (it will only work when windows authentication is enabled....

JAX-WS web service client and Windows integrated Security authentication
I am currently developing a JAX-WS web service client running on WebLogic 10.3.2.0. The client is connecting to exchange web service running on IIS.
Everything works well when EWS is configured with Http basic authentication.
The problems started when I changed the autentication method on EWS from Http basic authentication to Windows integrated Security authentication.
The client is then unable to authenticate to the web service. Every request made to EWS returns with the message : Invalid HTTP server response [401] - Unauthorized.
I tried using an authenticator like this one:

Is there a way to make a JAX-WS client works with Windows integrated Security ?WIS is not suppported on WLS JAX-WS. You'll need to use other authentication mechanisms such as http basic (which you tried already), or message-level security such as UNT, or SAML.

Problems setting up username & password for SQL

The code works when I remove the reference to the variables "username" & "password" in Connection "conn" call & replace them with the actual username & password, but this is not exactly what I was after. I was hoping to make the program responsive to each individual user, not set in code.
I also would like to make the program pause after the call in "main" to "PassDB" to wait for "PassDB" to exit before continuing.
I would also like to make "PassDB" destroy itself after the "OK" button is pressed & the "username" & "password" set.
If that isn't enough for you, I would really like the program to search 2 different database tables, return their values & compare them to be sure that they are the same.

Problems Setting Up Developer Users
I am having a problem setting up developer users and I am trying to determine if I am missing a step or if there is a configuration problem on my staging and production systems.
What I want to do should be very simple. I want to create a user that can create an application and see the information under the "Application" tab in the Navigator.
I have created the user using the following steps on 3.0.9.82 for Unix:
1. Create the user
2. Make the user a full administrator (rather than end user)

However, when I do this the user does not see the information under the
"Application" tab. The only way I can get the user to see the info under the
"Application" tab is to make him a member of the Portal_administrators
and/or DBA group. Both my staging and production boxes have the same result.

My AOL emails work VERY fast with BB, in fact almost simultaneously received on PC & Torch " ping ping!"
This issue only raised its ugly head when I had 2 Torches replaced by my insurers.
Whilst the claim was in process I used a new Curve, loaded from backup on PC to keep emails going and of course phone & web facilities. ( I use the BB to power internet via bluetooth to my PC / laptop when living on a remote island with no phone lines or power supplies) All was fine. Swapping email accounts took a few minutes with the usual password confirmations for each AOL screenname etc.
Then the new Torches came back from insurers, and I tried to swap devices. Phoning & texting is fine. Al data and contacts swap over fine.
SETUP email accounts.............stymied every time. It says repeatedly that my user name/password is invalid etc etc etc
Have tried security wipes. Have tried setting up new BB ID & passwords on PC website. All is OK until I try to setup emails on the Torches. This has used up ridiculous amounts of time- all wasted.
I love the BB phones and the fast email push......in fact I recently bought a new Sony Xperia Z1 but sent it back because of wifi coverage meant no emails on that superb phone for lots of the time.
Good old BB I said..........I always get emails wherever I am. ( Rural Scotland has very patchy radio & wifi coverage)
Was about to purchase new Z10s just to get a bigger screen, but now I am averse to buying ANY BB phone again because this present mess means I may never get emails set up again. How nuts is that?

Problems Setting up my wireless network with an Xb...
Hi, I have had some problems setting up my wireless networking.
I have everything switched on and am able to go online with the laptop and the Xbox with no problems but when I try to share media with the xbox I have problems.
I have opened the ports specified in the setup from xbox on windows firewall and have no problem connection Via Ethernet cable but when using wireless the xbox cannot detect the laptop.
I have checked the network map and both xbox and laptop are connected and have enabled sharing and am running sharing software.
Below is the network map.
I have also been having problems with BT software, the free virus protection will not install, The desktop help will not launch although it shows up on task manager and the installation disk does not launch correctly it doesn't get past the loading screen.
I have had a printer on the wireless network and had no problems printing.
If anyone knows how to resolve this please help.I have this same Motorola modem and I just verified that my 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can get Internet access with this modem without any issues.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. -
Problems Setting up a Direct Debit
has anyone experienced any problems setting up a direct debit ??
I've been a BT customer for approximately 20 years and have had the same account number. I've moved house a few times and retained the same account. My last house move wasn't so successful as after moving in and having broadband re set up again... I received a letter in the post saying I had requested a "termination" and a parcel was included to send my router back etc... plus... I'd be charged £100+ for the disconnection...
Anyway I got on the phone to BT and the advisor appologised for the mix up... and suggested I cancel my direct debit with the bank to make sure the disconnection fee wasn't taken from my account.....
Ever since then... I have not being able to set up a direct debit online or by speaking with several BT helpdesk staff. I email BT asking for an explaination - NOTHING. BT helpdesk staff assure me that the direct debit will work this time and will contact me if there is a problem... again NOTHING. I even tried writing a letter to the head of customer services... I think the name Warren Buckley rings a bell.. Someone did email me back suggesting I use the online facility.... REALLY!! Do BT not have a fault tracking database of customer issues... so they can see I've already tried to set up the direct debit online...
Anyway ..... I've just noticed this forum now... so this is my latest attempt to see if anyone senior enough at BT will be embarrassed and try and sort out my account so I can start paying my bill using Direct Debit again... I'm pretty sure all that needs to happen is to be given a new account number or an account alias that can be sent to my bank. Otherwise... I'll just carry on waiting to receive the automated message from BT saying I haven't paid and then go and pay online... But I am worried one of these automated messages will arrive the day I go on a 2 week holiday and I find myself cut off when I get home... giving me more pain....

I've made some backups on my 2TB TC and after a while reset my MacBook Pro (erased all data and reinstalled). I am trying to restore files from time machine but I can't find those backups, still my TC disk shows 1.35 TB free, the rest are those back
