Problems with basic lower third ?

Is anyone having a problem with the "basic lower third" template ? I keep getting a second, "ghost" copy of the first (top) line of the title created, shifted about 10 pixels above the original .. this only seems to happen after the project and/or library is saved and re-opened ... FCP X 10.1.4, Macbook Pro Retina ... thanks in advance

Thanks, but nope, if you look closely, you can see that there is a black drop shadow already set ... unselecting it just gives you the same double image in white, just without the black drop shadow ... bizarrely, it's only ever the top line that is doubled up ... it's as if a second copy of the top line is created ... it is also un-selectable on screen, i.e. if you click on the second copy you can't edit or move it ... the second copy only appears after the project/library is closed and re-opened ... i.e. it all looks fine when you create it

             1.how do i perform file actions(like create folder, move,rename)
             2.cant  use drag gesture
             3. ppt applications doesnt show a option to create new presentation(word and xls apps seem to work fine)
             4.can we even download apps from app world to pc  bcuz  everytime it says connect the smartphone to computer even though its physically connected and blackberry desktop manager also shows the device is connected"

    To mange your files, try a file manager like Files & Folders.
    Drag gestures are available in OS 2.0 which should be available before the end of Feb (rumour has it, this week).
    In OS 2 you will also be able to create new PPT presentations.
    To download apps from App World you need to be connected to a Wifi network at the moment.

  • Encountering Problems with Basic Sound Tutorial

    Hello everyone,
    I am encountering problems with a basic sound tutorial. I am absolutely confused as to what the problem may be because the code is so simple, and is essentially copied from the textbook. I am convinced that I have done something very silly but cannot see it.
    I have attempted to run this in an appletviewer, Firefox and Internet Explorer. I have attempted to launch it from both a .class file and a .jar file. I have uninstalled and offline installed the JDK and JRE and successfully tested the new installations.
    The audio file I am attempting to load and play is an .AU (Sun/Next 8-bit u-law) audio file I created in Audacity. It is located in the same folder as the AudioApplet.class file.
    My sound system is defintely on, since I have listened to music all day. I have attempted running the program with Media Player closed.
    package edu.myuniversityid.sandbox;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.applet.AudioClip;
    * @author Ibuki
    public class AudioApplet extends Applet
         * Initialization method that will be called after the applet is loaded
         * into the browser.
        public void init()
            super.init();
            AudioClip ac = this.getAudioClip(this.getDocumentBase(), "sample.au");
            ac.play();
    }The code compiles fine, however absolutely I get a small white window when it is run. No sound.
    Thankyou for your time.
    Regards,
    Ibuki.
    PS. I am sure this worked before the university forced me to update my version of Windows to SP2. Hence, the reason for reinstalling Java. Twice.
    Edited by: Ibuki on Jan 31, 2008 11:09 AM becasuse: Added a PS.

    I have attempted this alternative, without success:
        public void init()
            try
                super.init();
                URL url = new URL(this.getDocumentBase(), "sample.au");
                AudioClip ac = this.getAudioClip(url);
                ac.play();
            catch (MalformedURLException ex)
                Logger.getLogger(AudioApplet.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
        }The sample.au is definetly in the correct directory. Both File Explorer and NetBeans confirm this.

    I have discovered a temporary solution that works in the applet viewer. The applet will load and plays the correct music perfectly. However, using this code it is not working when I try to deploy it using a web browser (MSIE and FF)!
    public void init()
            super.init();
            AudioClip ac = this.getAudioClip(this.getClass().getResource("sample.au"));
            ac.play();

    Eureka!
    Having worked in the applet viewer I managed to get it working in the web browser by simply packaging my SoundApplet.class and sample.au into a .jar archive.
    <html>
         <body>
              <applet code="edu.myuniversityid.sandbox.AudioApplet.class" archive="dist/AudioApplet.jar">Unfortunately, this applet content cannot be displayed on this web page because your current browser does not support Java SE 6! Please <a href="http://www.java.com/">update your version of Java</a>.</applet>
         </body>
    </html>
    public void init()
            super.init();
            AudioClip ac = this.getAudioClip(this.getClass().getResource("sample.au"));
            ac.play();
        }Thankyou everyone.

  • 2.3 Update:  Problem with AppleTV learning third-party remote

    Hello,
    I'm trying to set up my third party remote (DirecTV HR21) after updating to 2.3. It all starts well; I go to Settings -> General -> Remotes -> Learn Remote, but I am having an issue when I am making my Apple TV learn the second key (down arrow); I get the error message "apple tv has already learned this button". It's as if the Apple TV thinks the 'up arrow' and the 'down arrow' on my remote are the same key. I tried several times, to no avail.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    I'm experiencing the same problem with the current DirecTV remote not being able to learn more than the first button prompted to enter (arrow-down). The error message "appletv has already learned this button" appears when attempting to enter the second button prompted (arrow-up). Furthermore, I have attempted configuration on two separate DirecTV HR21 remotes in both AV1 and AV2 modes.
    Come on Apple -- don't tease us! Testing wasn't done to make sure AppleTV can learn to respond to a current DirecTV remote? Yikes. I wonder what 3rd-party remotes were tested and confirmed to work.

  • Working with AE lower third creates master clip. How do I turn this off?

    I've imported an AE lower third and I see in the bin instance that it has an asterisks next to it's name with the word Master.  Each instance of the lower third throughout my timeline is to be different but if I change one instance it replaces the text of them all. How can I avoid this?

    Are you trying to use a Live Text template?

  • Upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard - now have problems with basic apps?

    I have a 2007 iMac (5.1, 2007) dual core. It's capable of running Snow Leopard and Lion (but not, I believe ML).
    I just bought the upgrade SL discs from Apple and installed them as an upgrade, moving up to 10.6.3 (from the discs). After running software update I'm now on 10.6.8.
    Since upgrading I've successfully run Time Machine. However I have the following problems:-
    A bunch of emails were present in the Inbox, but contained no body text - just the subject line. I have managed to since find most of them successfully from TM. This is a minor annoyance but I thought I'd mention it.
    ITunes won't boot up. It booted the first time I tried it, but since then the little icon just bounces up and down.
    Certain apps won't quit properly. I quit from the top menu, but the little blue light remains under the icon in the dock. I then have to 'Force Quit - Application Not Responding' *every time*.
    Safari frequently won't load up bookmarked or seach pages, the progress bar gets stuck part way across and I stare at the rainbow pinwheel for ages, before having to quit, then Force Quit, then restart Safari and try again.
    Now, I'm tempted to do a Clean Install, but after four international moves (Singapore-Australia-UK-Canada) I no longer have any of the original discs, and thus as I understand it will lose iLife. And iLife 11 needs Lion.
    I've done a disc permissions repair thing via the Mac Disc Utility. I've run a few clean-up operations via Onyx.
    Any suggestions gratefully received. My Mac as been running great for years, but this upgrade has been extremely disappointing thus far.
    thanks
    Feargus

    Hi baltwo
    Many thanks for your advice. I've read all the links and will be buying a 2nd external HD to do a SuperDuper back up. I already had a 1Tb drive with Maxtor back up on it, and I also managed to get a Time Machine back up as well, so at least my data should be safe.
    Qn - If I back up the System and Utility folders as well as the Home folder, I don't suppose I can restore them after an install and everything (eg iLife) will 'just work'?
    Anyway, I went straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I don't have any Tiger discs either (see reasons above) so now have no way of restoring original set up. I tried to boot from the SL install CD and then hold 'C' but must be getting something wrong as I don't get the Disk Utility pop up. It just boots as normal to the desktop.
    Anyway, via the normal Disc Utitlity I've done a Repair Permissions again with no major issues. However, my Onyx software now won't run at all so I can't clean any caches a second time.
    I've contacted the Apple rep who sold be the SL discs but she's not got back to me yet re iLife.
    This weekend I'm going to try a fresh upgrade. If that fails I'll try Erase and Install, if I can get the 'C' button timing right. I'll update if I have any successs.
    cheers

  • Problems with basic spatial query

    I'm trying to learn Oracle Spatial working with 11g R2 and with 3D georeferenced data (specifically data describing buildings in a city).
    But I'm having trouble getting a basic query to work on my dataset (it works for the book example), and I'm trying to do it exactly the way it's done in the Spatial Developer's Guide for 11g.
    To learn how spatial queries work, I set up the cola_markets tables used in the documentation, made the appropriate manual entry in the user_sdo_geom_metadata view and created the index. Having done that, I can run the following simple query (as well as the others in the manual) on the book tables:
    SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE(c_b.shape, c_d.shape, 0.005)
    FROM cola_markets c_b, cola_markets c_d
    WHERE c_b.name = 'cola_b' AND c_d.name = 'cola_d';
    but when I try to do the same thing on my own tables (created from citygml data), I get an error. There is the difference that the data is 3D, and the index was created without any PARAMETERS ( ... ), hence is just 2D. But still I don't get why the following query doesn't work:
    SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE(c_w.envelope, c_b.envelope, 0.0005)
    FROM cityobject c_w,
    cityobject c_b
    WHERE c_w.id = 50025
    AND c_b.id = 50018;
    The id's for the buildings are valid, and I used the same tolerance used by the software that set up the database.
    Here's the error I get in SQL developer:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.Exception: 54535
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 637

    *Cause: A Java exception or error was signaled and could not be
    resolved by the Java code.
    *Action: Modify Java code, if this behavior is not intended.
    So, thinking it might have something to do with the fact that it's a Java interface, I also tried running it from SQL/PL command line and get essentially the same thing:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception:
    java.lang.Exception: 54535

    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1973
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1990
    Any ideas why this isn't working?

    Hi,-
    There are many ways to model a building with our open 3D data model:
    Please note that each polygon can be any planar surface as long as you dont use
    shortcut definitions like axis-aligned box as Siva mentioned. We dont allow curved surfaces in 3D.
    Gtype 3003 can be composite surface which means each polygon should be connected to another polygon with an edge. Etype must be then 1006. You can have as many polygons as possible as long as they are connected.
    Gtype 3003 can also be a single polygon. But, this will not be able to model a building.
    As you pointed out, maybe it is the footprint of the building.
    You can also model building with gtype 3008 which is simple or composite solid.
    Etype 1007 means it is simple solid and etype 1008 means it is composite solid.
    Composite solid has one or more solids which has at least one full or partial common surface in between.
    In your case with single polygon, you can use sdo_util.extrude as follows to make
    3D buildings. The surfaces created will be on the out-side surface of the building.
    You will not have walls inside the building when you use this following function:
    SELECT SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(
      SDO_GEOMETRY(
        2003,
        null,
        null,
        SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,1),
        SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(5, 1,8,1,8,6,5,7,5,1)),
      SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(0,0,0,0,0),
      SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(5,10,10,5,5),
      0.005) from dual;
    SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,NULL,NULL,SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,1),SDO_O

    0, 5, 7, 0, 5, 1, 0, 5, 1, 5, 5, 7, 5, 5, 7, 0))
    The following example returns the three-dimensional composite solid geometry representing an extrusion from a two-dimensional polygon geometry with inner rings.

  • Problems with basic keys usage

    I'm going crazy. Quite often now the following key or keys combinations I use the most often stop working:
    - using Shift to select all files between two clicked on items
    - using Command to select several individual files
    - using Command-c and Command-v for Copy and Paste operations
    They stop working as they should sometimes immediately after new boot, sometimes hours after my iMac was already working properly. The only solution so far is to restart the system - but problem accelerates and I need now to restart system twice and sometimes more than twice to get the keys working. Switching keyboard with another one doesn't help, it is definitely a Finder's issue.
    Desperately need a solution.

    Hi,
    Having the same problem here. Every once in a while, Finder stops working. Command F as well as other command keys stop functioning until a restart. Getting worse. Any fixes?

  • Problems with basic object adapter

    In the book "Oracle81 Java Component Programming with EJB, CORBA and JSP" there is an example of a simple callback corba program (chapter 6).
    I get to deploy my ServerImpl object, and when I compile the code I get no errors. But when I try to run the program, I get an error, saying that the method: BOA_init() does not exist.
    The code follows here:
    org.omg.CORBA.ORB orb = org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init ();
    org.omg.CORBA.BOA boa = orb.BOA_init();
    ClientCallbackImpl clientcallback = new ClientCallbackImpl ();
    boa.obj_is_ready (clientcallback);
    Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I am using version 3.2 of JDeveloper, and there is no documentation avaiable for BOA. It does not seem to exist at all. :-)

  • FSCM-COL: Problem with basic rules

    Hi,
    We have a business requirement where the basic rules:
    - BR00000002: Total of All Items Overdue Since n Days
    - BR00000004: Total of All Items Due within n Days
    - BR00000019: No Successful Customer Contact in Last n Days
    - BR00000020: Successful Customer Contact in Last n Days
    Where the parameter "NO_OF_DAYS" needs to be able to be selected as a constante (=), greater (>) or less (<) in the collection strategy configuration (Transaction Code UDM_STRATEGY => Conditions)
    I tried to update the configuration of the basic rules (transaction code S_SE3_50000242 and there by changing the info in the "Single field option") but after a few tests i notice that, in spite of the user be able to select if the number of days is greater or not than "x" when i simulate i have no results....
    Do you guys know how is definid the logic of those BADI's (CL_IM_UDM_BR00000002, CL_IM_UDM_BR00000004, CL_IM_UDM_BR00000019, CL_IM_UDM_BR00000020) for these selection options ?
    Does it only allow to be a constant this "NO_OF_DAYS" ?
    Thanks in advance for your inputs.
    Best Regards,
    Bruno Sousa

    Hi Deep Patel,
    Many thanks for your inputs.
    Actually here the issue is with the option field "Number of Days" and not the amount (that is available in BR0000002). This option field is defined (as standard) only for a constant (="X" days).
    If we change the option field (for the basic rules BR/02, BR/04,BR/19, BR/20) for being able to be also >, < the system seems to not work correctly...
    Best Regards,
    Bruno Sousa

  • ASAP PLZ- Having problems with basic pattern input/output

    Hey! I am new to this forum, and I am also new to java =).
    I am writing a program that prompts a user to select 1 pattern out of 5. then the user needs to choose the number of lines he/she wants to display for instace:
    (MENU)
    PATTERN 5
    1
    12
    123
    1234
    USER Selection : Pattern 5
    Choose Number of Lines: 3
    OUTPUT
    Pattern 5
    1
    12
    123

  • Problems with basic Java JPanel animation using paintcomponent

    okay so I am trying to animate a sprite moving across a background using a for loop within the paintComponent method of a JPanel extension
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g){
    Image simpleBG = new ImageIcon("Images/Backgrounds/Simple path.jpg").getImage();
    Image mMan = new ImageIcon("Images/Sprites/hMan.gif").getImage();
    if (!backgroundIsDrawn){
    g.drawImage(simpleBG, 0, 0, this);
    g.drawImage(mMan, xi, y, this);
    backgroundIsDrawn=true;
    else
    for (int i=xi; i<500; i++){
    g.drawImage(simpleBG, 0, 0, this);
    g.drawImage(mMan, i, y, this);
    try{
    Thread.sleep(10);
    } catch(Exception ex){System.out.println("damn");}
    The problem is that no matter what I set my thread to, it will not show the animation, it will just jump to the last location, even if the thread sleep is set high enough that it takes several minutes to calculate,, it still does not paint the intemediary steps.
    any solution, including using a different method of animation all together would be greatly appreciated. I am learning java on my own so i need all the help I can get.

    fysicsandpholds1014 wrote:
    even when I placed the thread sleep outside of the actual paintComponent in a for loop that called repaint(), it still did not work? Nope. Doing this will likely put the Event Dispatch Thread or EDT to sleep. Since this is the main thread that is responsible for Swing's painting and user interaction, you'll put your app to sleep with this. Again, use a Swing Timer
    and is there any easy animation method that doesnt require painting and repainting every time becasue it is very hard to change what I want to animate with a single paintComponent method? I don't get this.
    I find the internet tutorials either way too complicated or not nearly in depth enough. Maybe its just that I am new to programming but there doesn't seem to be a happy medium between dumbed down Swing tutorials and very complicated and sophisticated animation algorithmns.I can only advise that you practice, practice, practice. The more you use the tutorials, the easier they'll be to use.
    Here's another small demo or animation. It is not optimized (repaint is called on the whole JPanel), but demonstrates some points:

  • Problems with Basic 3D Filter in Motion 2.0.1

    Hello helpful people,
    when I apply the Basic 3D filter to a layer the layer becomes a little fuzzy. With no settings on the filter changed. If I put the filter on only a piece of the middle of the timeline my object goes from sharp to fuzzy and then sharp again.
    Also with the filter on, it seems to be about 1 pixel higher in size.
    Any workaround around that? Or other ideas?

    as soon as I test it I will give you the "solved" points...
    thanks for making me worry less...

  • Problems with basic authentication example

    I am trying to run the basic authentication example from the Professional JSP book (Chapter 16) although for some reason I continue to get "AUTHENTICATION MECHANISM NULL" instead of "AUTHENTICATION MECHANISM BASIC". I do not even get the pop-up window with the prompt for Username and Password. I am running Tomcat 4.0-dev and have tried to access the login window by pointing the browser to the appropriate file:
    //localhost:8080/ch16-basic/index.jsp
    Still not login window???
    I have added the extra user and password to the tomcat-users.xml file (username="projsp" password="projsp" roles="superuser")
    Still no luck????
    Could someone please let me know what could possibly be going wrong.
    Thank you!!!!

    The index.jsp is:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Protected Area Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%
    out.println("<H2>Authentication Mechanism "+ request.getAuthType() +" </H2>" );
    %>
    </body>
    </html>
    The tomcat-users.xml is:
    <!--
    NOTE: By default, no user is included in the "manager" role required
    to operate the "/manager" web application. If you wish to use this app,
    you must define such a user - the username and password are arbitrary.
    -->
    <tomcat-users>
    <user name="tomcat" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat" />
    <user name="role1" password="tomcat" roles="role1" />
    <user name="both" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat,role1" />
    <user name="projsp" password="projsp" roles="superuser" />
    </tomcat-users>
    And the web.xml is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app
    PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN"
    "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_3.dtd">
    <web-app>
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>Entire Application</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    <realm-name>ProJSP Authentication Example</realm-name>
    </login-config>
    </web-app>
    WHY ISN"T THIS WORKING!!!!
