Problems with JNDI between JSP and EJB
Good morning:
I've got a problem related to EJB and JNDI.
I want to run methods of an EJB that is in Weblogic, from a JSP that runs IPlanet. When I try to execute getInitialContext() I catch a NamingException. The error description is :Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.T3InitialContextFactory
I have this code in the JSP:
Context initialCtx;
initialCtx = getInitialContext();
private InitialContext getInitialContext() throws NamingException
Properties p = new Properties();
(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.T3InitialContextFactory");
(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://atlas:7001");
InitialContext ctx = null;
ctx = new InitialContext(p);
return ctx;
Configuration:
JSP runs in IPlanet 4.1 SP7
EJB runs in a Weblogic 5.1. Atlas it's the server name
IPlanet and Weblogic runs on differents machines.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance
David
I have two weblogic jars (weblogicaux.jar and one service pack of weblogic) in the iplanet classpath.
I don't know if I have to configure Weblogic with any special parameter (RMI/IIOP) or something similar in IPlanet.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

Problem with interface between Photoshop and CanoScan 9000f, mark II
I have just upgraded my Mac to OS X 10.9.1, Photoshop to CC, and purchased the CanoScan 9000F, mark II. I had the CanoScan 8600F previously which came 8+ years ago with Elements 4 but now all this is obsolete with the current software and OS. In Photoshop Elements 4 and the old scanner, I could go to the File menu, select "Import" and find the scanner listed, going then directly to the Canon ScanGear interface to use to scan images. This is not currently happening with the new software and scanner. Under the File menu now I now only see "Images from device..." which takes me to another much less useful interface with the scanner. How can I get Photoshop to again connect directly to the ScanGear interface?
How can I get Photoshop to again connect directly to the ScanGear interface?
AFAIK, you cannot.
The direct connection required the less-than-reliable TWAIN plugin to access the manufacturer's scanner driver which was usually 32 bit only. Photoshop CC is going 64 bit only (it's there already on Macs) so Adobe has removed TWAIN from CC entirely.
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/twain-plug-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1245120
Additionally, when in use, TWAIN requires exclusive access to Photoshop so you cannot do anything else while scanning is occurring.
Adobe recommends scanning outside Photoshop (using a 3rd party utility such as Vuescan http://www.hamrick.com/). You can then scan (with Vuescan) and use Photoshop simultaneously. Then import the scanned image into PS CC. -
Problems with QoS between 2950 and 3550 with use of Native VLAN
Hi!
I try to set up QoS between a C2950 and a C3550, I have provided a drawing that might help understanding the setup.
As I understand it, since I only have the SMI image on the C2950 I have to run a 802.1Q trunk over the leased 2Mb line to get QoS to work. And I DO get it to work, or at least it seems so to me.
What I'm trying to setup QoS on is between a Nortel Succession Media Server and a Nortel i2004 IP Phone.
And when I sniff the port that the Succession Media Server is connected to, I get this output:
*BEGIN*

But, then to the problem:
Since the modems I use have ip adresses in them I want to monitor them and be able to change settings in them.
But to connect to units within the trunk, I have to set the native vlan to VLAN 144, which provides the ip adresses I use for the modems, in both ends of the trunk.
But if I do that the tagging of the packets from the IP Phone disappears!
Here's an output after native VLAN is applied:

See, there is noe QoS tagging from the IP Phone anymore.
If I set no switchport trunk native vlan 144 in both ends the tagging is back.
Any ideas? Is this a bug, or just some command I don't know about?
Please take a look at the picture to get a more understandable view of the setup.
Thanks!Well, native VLANs are by definition untagged so there´s nothing wrong with that as far as you are getting the expected results. By the other way I think you should include VLAN 402 on your allowed vlan range on Catalyst 3550's FastEth0/45 trunk port, otherwise this VLAN will be completly isolated from the rest of the network.

Problem with values between 0 and +-0.49 URGENT
I have a strange problem. I have an internal table:

If the xxx-value is between 0.01 and 0.49 the

returns FALSE.
If the xxx-value is between -0.01 and -0.49 the
if xxx-value GE 0
returns TRUE and the
if xxx-value > 0
returns FALSE.
Our SAP version is 4.0b. Does anyone know any solution to this very urgent and serious problem?
Thanks in advance<b></b>hi,

Final Cut Pro 5, problems with switching between HDV and DV
I recorded a movie in HDV 1080i50 and captured it into Final Cut Pro 5. I think the capture was done correctly (but the video was captured by another person), with Easy Setup on HDV 1080i50 and the camera set on HDV 1080i.
The sequence in which I edited the movie had its settings on DV PAl which was necesary for me to export the video for DVD. Of course I had to render the clips many times in the DV mode. Later I wanted to export the movie to tape in the original HDV format so I changed the sequence settings to HDV 1080i50.
There I encountered a problem. The frame became very small while the aspect ratio was huge (1920x1080) and it didn´t matter though I copied the clips to a new sequence (with its settings on HDV).
Does anybody know why this occurres? Is it possible that the frame size distorts if I change the sequence settings from HDV to DV and again to HDV? Because I have also tried to put the original audio/video files into a new HDV sequence and there the frames dimensions are correct.
Best regards - Einar Hjartarson
www.gagnvirkni.isI think your workflow is completely wrong.
Edit in whatever codec the footage is, then export via
Compressor > Advanced Format Conversion
It's that simple.
You can't just change your sequence settings to whatever you want the footage to be.

Home sharing problem with music between iTunes and Apple TV
iTunes 10.5.2.11
Apple TV2 running 4.4.4 (3330)
Windows 7 pc
WI FI connection
Apple TV is losing its connection to iTunes on my windows 7 pc after streaming EXACTLY TWO SONGS. I've never had this problem until the last update of iTunes to 10.5.2.11 and Apple TV 4.4.4. Home sharing is on in both iTunes and apple TV. I launch my computer from apple TV and open the music folders, select an album/playlist or even shuffle (doesn't matter what I do). Apple TV will play two songs and then lose its home sharing connection to my iTunes songs. TheBuffering icon continues to spin as it looks for the next song on the playlist, but the \song never starts playing. If I sue the apple TV remote to return to the main menu, it is apparent that my computer is no longer visible to apple tv.
The only temporary "fix" (which again only works for EXACTLY TWO SONGS) is to re-start home sharing on my pc or apple tv. Obviously, you can't listen to music by continuously turning on/off home sharing on eiter device. Doesn't matter which device I choose to restart home Sharing.
I've spent considerable time troubleshooting this issue. It is NOT a router issue, nor is it a signal quality issue. I'm able to stream feature-length movies from iTunes to apple TV without issue. It's only music files. The cynic in me thinks its apple wanting me to spend $25 to put my music in its iCloud service.
Other troubleshooting that I've tried. None successful.
Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
Tried a fresh install of iTunes on a brand new windows 7 maching
Restored my apple TV.
disconnected / re-connected outlook.bump to Apple. Many people are having this issue and no fix yet!

my host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?
There are several possible causes for this problem.
1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
6. See also this support article.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane. -
Very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and
I have discovered a very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and java instruction "request.getParameterNames()".
Suppose you have something like this, to render some datas form a Java Beans :
<h:dataTable value="#{TablesDb2Bean.myDataDb2ListSelection}" var="current" border="2" width="50%" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" style="text-align: center">
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Name"/>
</f:facet>
<h:outputText id="nameTableDb2" value="#{current.db2_name_table}"/>
</h:column>
</h:dataTable>
Everything works fine...
Suppose you want to get the name/value pairs for id="nameTableDb2" and #{current.db2_name_table} to process them in a servlet. Here is the HTML generated :
<td><span <span class="attribute-name">id=<span class="attribute-value">"j_id_jsp_1715189495_22:0:nameTableDb2">my-table-db2-xxxxx</span></td>
You think you can use the java instructions :
Enumeration NamesParam = request.getParameterNames();
while (NomsParam.hasMoreElements()) {
String NameParam = (String) NamesParam.nextElement();
out.println("<h4>"++NameParam+ "+</h4>);
YOU ARE WRONG : request.getParameterNames() wants the syntax *name="nameTableDb2" but JSF must use id="nameTableDb2" for "<h:outputText"... So, you can't process datas in a FORM generated with JSF in a Servlet ! Perhaps I have made an error, but really, I wonder which ?

Edited by: ungars on Jul 18, 2010 12:45 AMWhile I certainly appreciate ejb's helpful responses, this thread shows up a difference in perspective between how I read the forum and how others do. Author ejb is correct in advising you to stay inside JSF for form processing if form processing is what you want to do.
However, I detect another aspect to this post which reminds me of something Marc Andreesen once said when he was trying to get Netscape off the ground: "there's no such thing as bad HTML."
In this case, I interpret ungar's request as a new feature request. Can I phrase it like this?
"Wouldn't it be nice if I could render my nice form with JSF but, in certain cases, when I REALLY know what I'm doing" just post out to a separate servlet? I know that in this case I'll be missing out on all the nice validation, conversion, l10n, i18n, ajax, portlet and other features provided by JSF".
If this is the case, because it really misses the point of JSF, we don't allow it, but we do have an issue filed for it
https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=127
If you can't wait for it to be fixed, you could decorate the FormRenderer to fix what you want.
I have an example in my JSF book that shows how to do this decoration. http://bit.ly/edburnsjsf2

I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN .
HI All,
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Problem with Sessions, Servlets, Netscape and Solaris
We are experiencing a problem that is confounding and frustrating us (I have
a felling that it is something exremely minor that we are overlooking).
Here goes:
Context:
The problem only occurs when using a netscape browser against weblogic
4.51running on our Solaris 7 box (Everything works fine through IE, and
through both browsers against our development machines which are on NT)
Problem:
We have a bunch of JSP pages and servlets that are used togehter throughout
our site. They both manage session information for the user. What is
happening is that there is no problem maintaining session information among
all the JSP pages, but when we hit a servlet that we use to stream graphs
back to the browser, it gets the session but it has no contents all of a
sudden. What seems to be even more strange is that the session is not
tagged as new (by checking isNew()), it is just empty of the contents that
were placed it by the JSP pages. Again, this is only occurring from
Netscape browsers against our Solaris server.
If anyone can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated. I can
provide more details if need be.
Jeremy
There is a property in the weblogic.properties file that lets you set
the cookie name. If this isn't set, the port will be appended as part of
the name. I've had a similar problem switching between http and https
and losing sessions.

<jsp:setProperty name="paramBean"
property="nume"
value='<%= request.getParameter("numeUser") %>' />
where ParamBean it's a "bean" class locating in jakarta-tomcat-4.0.6\webapps\examples\web-inf\classes\licentza (licentza is the package i'm using).
And i get this error:
Generated servlet error:

What is the problem?Thank you.Hi,
Put the class file or the package under :jakarta-tomcat-4.0.6\webapps\root\WEB-INF\classes.

thanx in advance
marcoTake out the "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory" and add the respective factory NAME..
environment.put(Context.INITIALCONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
Cheers,

What's the difference between jsp and jsf?
who can tell me what's the difference between jsp and jsf?
I'm puzzled when I found some of the technology in jsp is so similar to the ones in jsp( javaserver page)Hi,
Find the difference between JSP and JSF
1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
1. Fundamental unit is the Component
2. Built in event and state management
3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
5. Choice of UI technology
6. Scale up (rich clients)
7. Scale down (mobile devices)
8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative) -
Difference between JSP and ASP
Whatz the diff between JSP and ASP
Hello msdnexpert,
Active Server Pages (ASP) allows you to build rich, data driven, dynamic complex applications. ASPs are written in Perl, VBScript, C/C++. They run on machines running Microsoft Windows. With ASP, an HTML page on a web server can contain snippets of embedded code. This code is read and executed by the web server before it sends the page to the client (usually a browser such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer.) For more information on ASP see:
http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/server/default.asp
or
http://www.activeserverpages.com
Java Server Pages (JSP) also allows you to build rich, data driven, dynamic complex applications. JSPs are written in Java. They run on any Java enabled machine, including Solarlis, Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. JSPs also makes available all of Java's industrial strength security for free. JSPs uses a syntax similar to ASP except that the scripting language is Java. Unlike ASP, JSP is an open standard implemented dozen of venders across all platforms. JSPs are closely tied to servlets because a JSP page is transformed into a servlet as part of its execution. For more information on JSP see:
http://java.sun.com/products/jsp
A servlet is a generic server extension -- a Java class that can be loaded dynamically to extend the functionality of a server. Servelets are commonly used with web servers, where they can take the place of CGI scripts. A servlet is similar to a proprietary server extension, except that it runs inside a Java Virtual Machine on the server side, so it is safe and portable. Servlets operate solely within the domain of the server: Unlike Applets, they do not require support for Java in the web browser.
Unlike CGI, which must use multiple process to handle separate programs and/or separate requests, servlets can all be handled by separate threads within the same process or by threads within multiple processes spread across a number of back end servers. This means that servlets are also efficient and scalable. Because servlets run with bi-directional communication to the web server, they can interact very closely with the server to do things that are not possible with CGI. Another advantage of servlets is that they are portable: Both across operating systems and across web servers.
