Problems with site after inserting clock

Hi guys
Had website nice and clean, but you know what its like , we have to play with things that arent broken,
anyway, after months fo trying to insert a clock i managed it but it has messed my whole site up according to w3c checker.
Any Ideas ??????
my site is  so-nouveau.com
all i wanted was a clockl now in dreamweaver it has messed the page up as well, hard to work with,
worse thing is i would like a date on the other side to the clock.....

My wbepage in dreamweaver is all vertically lined up on top of each other, and on the net when i check code html tidy it show lots of errors and warnings , does this matter?

    Hi,
I am facing problem with Java after having run Software upgrades.
Here is the whole story. I recently moved to iMac 10.5.6 from PowerPc 10.4. On this new machine I was having problem running a 3rd party application, which requires JVM. As this application worked well on Tiger, I decided to upgrade JVM on my iMAC using Software Upgrade(was I insane!!). As I like my systems to be updated (as with linux on my personal machine) I clicked "install all". As a result I have the following upgrades run on my machine:

    Hi man,
In the wake of this java problem I resorted to keep working on my old machine, and today in my spare time I tried to fix this new machine.
So I execute $java on prompt, and then try to check the files it has opened, using lsof -p pid
    I see it referring to
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    isn't this usually the JAVA_HOME
    However, executing $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    hangs!!
    but
    $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/bin/java
    works!!
    $ pwd
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin
    $ ./java -version
    java version "1.6.0_07"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06-153)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_07-b06-57, mixed mode)
So, I changed the links as follows

Linking my Current and CurrentJDK to 1.6 and it works!
However, shall that be the reason!
    what is in your /Versions/Current/
    I got the following
    $ ls /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current
    CodeResources Frameworks JavaVM
    Commands Headers Resources
There is no /Home in here, which is usually the case for /1.5 or /1.6
Anyways, things seems to work for the moment. Lets see if I get problem with using Java.
    thanks

  • Problems with Mail after upgrading to 10.9.1

I am running into problems with Mail after installing 10.9.1. I had NO problems with Mail prior to this update.
Problems I have encountered so far are:
    - I don't receive some e-mails on my Gmail account.
    - I have sent e-mails that supposedly got "sent" but do not show up in my Sent box both on mail and on web Gmail. My Outbox is empty also.
Has anyone encountered the same problems and found a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes Paul I have, but no solution. I cannot send email. My ISP uses a smtp mail server for sending and It will not log in. Have had ISP on phone and checked all settings. Can only put it down to Mavericks.
It worked OK for a week after upgrading then stopped. So now having to use web mail to send email.
Strange thing is I receive mail OK, just cant send.

  • HT1589 problems with itunes after updating..can't locate some of my songs..some have an exclamation point beside them how do i get these songs back in my itunes

I'm having problems with itunes after updating. I've lost all my playlists,,finally played around with it and got the songs back but some have an exclamation point beside them and can't be located. they are songs i've purchased. I'm not very computer literate so this is a major problem. I have spent hours with this. I just want all my songs to play even though I'm not happy that I have to recreate my playlists. It would be so much easier if I knew and understood how to correct this. Has anyone else had this problem and if so..is there an easy way to correct it?

Not sure how this is an ipod touch question.
Perhaps you should post in the itunes forum.

  • Problems with site definition in CS5

I am trying to define a new site in DW CS5. When I enter the site information in the dialogue box I get the following message:
The spry assets folder is not inside the site. Please select a valid folder in your local site root.
The program automatically creates a folder for Spry assets but the error message still appears. I tried creating a new folder, but had the same results. I can't get past this screen. Why is this happening?

    Randy,
Thanks for your prompt response. The problem is, if I am defining a new site, there are no pre-existing folders. I am calling my site "HF", so Dreamweaver automatically chooses "/Users/Aaron/Documents/HF/SpryAssets" as the default folder for spry assets. If I use the "browse for folder" icon, I can select another folder, but what else would I choose? (I tried choosing other folders, as well as creating a new folder, and neither worked).I'm really stumped!

Yes, it's an annoying bug. In the Site Definition dialog, go to the Advanced > Spry tab and use the "browse for folder" dialog to select your SpryAssets folder and it will fix the path for you.

Hi were you able to resolve yours?
I was very worried losing all my medical stuff on my iPad Air 2, plus i have nothing to use for the next day! So i have to try all the possible things i read on the internet!! And this worked on my part (Thank God, and thank you Google)
    Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

  • Problems with mail after every shutdown

I posted a few days ago when mail kept crashing following the security update (probably due to me not closing all applications before installing).
I managed to get mail working again by resetting the junk mail filter.
However, since then I have had problems with mail every time I restart my computer. Every morning, it mail crashes when I open it. I have fixed it a few times by quickly deleting select messages from my inbox before it crashes, but today I can't even do that. Resetting junk mail filter doesn't seem to work now. It's weird because once I get mail open I can close/open with no problem. I only have problems again after I have shutdown the computer.
I verified the start up disk and permissions - there were no problems there - and I also checked for corrupted fonts (I have been reading all the suggestions posted on this site to people having similar problems).
    The console log reads:
    Jun 1 09:40:34 su-pwbk crashdump[218]: Mail crashed

As I said in the other thread, in your case Mail was crashing because of a problem with Address Book, so it should be no surprise that resetting the junk filter didn’t really fix the problem. It would have been more appropriate to post back there instead of starting a new thread...
If Address Book itself works fine, the problem is probably the Previous Recipients list that Mail stores in the Address Book database. If you can do this without Mail crashing, in Mail open Window > Previous Recipients and remove all the entries from there.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to re-create the entire Address Book database:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data is enabled either in Address Book > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. You may also need to reset the entire sync history (iSync > Preferences > Reset Sync History) to avoid synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices.
    3. Open Address Book.
    4. As an extra safety measure, do File > Back up Address Book and save the backup wherever you wish.
    5. Go to Address Book > Preferences > vCard, set the vCard Format to 3.0 and check Export notes in vCards. Close the Preferences window when done.
    6. Select the All group in the main Address Book window and do File > Export Group vCard (the command should read “Export Group vCard”, not just “Export vCard”).
    7. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
    8. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/ and move the entire AddressBook folder out of there, e.g. to the Desktop (to be deleted after fixing the problem and making sure you don’t miss anything).
    9. Check whether the problem is fixed now. If it is, you may be able to restore your contacts without the problem happening again by opening Address Book and doing File > Import > vCards to import the previously exported cards back into Address Book.
    10. If the problem has been fixed and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Address Book data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Problems with iWeb, after installing Lion

    Hi,
Ever since I installed Lion, I have been having problems with iWeb. Any changes I make in iWeb, and then publish to my site, via mobileme, are not saved, and the site reverts to the orignial site, after closing the website, and iWeb also loses the cahnges. I am unable to sue the Publish Site button, and the option for Publish Site changes is not available.
    I am using iLife 11.
These problems have only occurred since I installed Lion.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Nozza

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Problem With Site Access

    Hi guys,
I've been trying to access the Market Place as well as my account at: www.renderosity.com, but when I click to the Market Place on the link I get the message below (included also is my correspondence with the site's admin). I can access the rest of the site with no seeming problem. And it seems to be only that site that I have been having problems with. I have Java enabled and the block pop-up is unchecked. But it is only with that site that I am having problems with. They have had no reports of any problems from their side. Thanks for any help. Please reply to my other e-mail: [email protected]
    Cheers;-)

    Hi Karen,
I finally managed to get through to the Market Place, but this is how the page looked (See Attached image). Any ideas? I still cannot get into my account though.
    Hi Michael,
I've never seen that url before which is why I got confused.
Try this one and let me know if you have problems.

    Hi Deb,
and thanks for the quick reply. That URL is what shows up when I click on the Market Place Home. Maybe it's just temporary. I certainly hope so! I've never had this problem before. I guess time will tell. Thanks again.
    Cheers,

    Hi Michael,
We're not aware of any problem on the site. Can you please give me the exact URL that you are trying to access?
Additionally, it may be helpful if you log out of Renderosity, empty your cookies and cache on your browser, and then sign back in and see if that resolves the problem.
    Kind regards,

    Hi guys,
I have never had problems before with access to any part of Rendo and even now I can access parts of your site, but I can neither access my account nor the market place. Is there something going on from your end? Here is the message that I'm getting when I try to get to those parts of the site that I just mentioned:

    Hi Ayesh,
Per my test, it seems that the Site Collection Access is only available for the local group of that site collection which is used to store the site collection local term sets.
To make the site collection local group available, please refer to the steps in the link below:
    http://www.dotnetsharepoint.com/2013/10/how-to-get-site-collection-local-term.html#.U-PVOvmSyd5
After that, you will see the Site Collection Access when you click the group in Term Store Management.
    Best regards.

  • Having connection problems with Mail after installing 10.9.4

I upgraded to 10.9.4 a few days ago, and ever since, I've been having connection problems with Mail. First, it stops downloading new mail automatically and second, it won't send any of my messages. When I try to send, I get a message that it is unable to connect.
Quitting Mail and restarting it seems to clear the problem, but then it happens again, maybe an hour or two later.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Problems with Macbook after Software Update

I haven't updated my Macbook in a long time, so I decided it was time I probably did. Software Update had updates for iTunes, Quicktime, and a 2009-Security Update. Everything seemed to be going okay. After the downloading and installing finished, it said the Security Update couldn't be installed and moved it to the trash. Then it prompted me to restart my computer because the other two installed okay.
After restart, when my computer started back up, my Macbook is messed up. The doc is missing. I open a finder window, and it shows the main folders, but all the things on the right (where it shows the drive, applications, and such) is missing. I tried to back up my files, but it can't even read there is a blank disc inserted (keeps asking me to insert a blank disc). And it wont let me shut down my computer, or restart it. I click restart, and it seems like it accepts it, but it just doesn't do anything. The dashboard wont show up when you hit F12. This mac is all messed up.
I don't know what happened here, all I installed was iTunes and Quicktime from the Software Update (security update didn't install), and all this happened. Any idea what happened and how I can fix this?
I'm using Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.11.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There's a variety of things you could try, but first as to why it is doing this. Probably your drive was slightly corrupted. If it was minor you might not have noticed it, but when the updates tried to install, the whole thing compounded and led to a whole bunch of things missing.
First, try to repair your drive. Boot from the System installer disc that came with your computer or is the one for the version you currently have on there, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

+Summary of above from BDaqua+ (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
Report back after you have done this. It may be that you have to use a more powerful utility such as Diskwarrior.
Once the drive is repaired you can try re-applying the two updates, though often it takes a full archive and install, plus re-application of all updates, to get everything working again.

    Finally, on updating:
    Updating
Certain steps appear to minimize the risk of an update producing problems.
Number one is to make sure you have a bootable clone backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again. This is the only guaranteed way of not having to worry about the results of an update.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility. You can verify a drive while booted from the same drive but sometimes this produces spurious errors. Repairing a drive (if necessary) has to be done while booted from another disk.

You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.

I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
    Repair permissions again afterward.
It helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
The more cautious even like to unplug third party peripherals (see [comment by BDaqua|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9040746#9040746]).
Almost all of the above steps (except backup) have been questioned (e.g., [Permissons repair|http://www.macworld.com/article/52220-3/2006/08/repairpermissions.html] as to necessity. Probably many people have done successful updates without doing them. I say they can't hurt, they can very likely do good (especially if your computer isn't regularly maintained), so why not do them to be safe?
