Problems  with  string larger char(255)

Hi guys ,
Something really weird happened to me , i have the following code  to create a  flat file , suddenly it is truncating the lines in 250 ,  its funny i see  wa_ti_fich+330(5)   in the debugging and it has data , but the whole wa_ti_fich is only 255 long , ive tried with type char600 , with the same result , i cant use type string beacuse is not allow for unix file .
data: begin of ti_fich occurs 0,
        linha(527),
      end of ti_fich .
wa_ti_fich-linha+49(15)  = montante.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+64(2)   = '02'.   "codigo moeda 02
    wa_ti_fich-linha+106(2)  = '01'. "Codigo de la situación.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+112(8)  =  itab_saida-datav.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+120(8)  =  itab_saida-datav.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+128(8)  =  montante.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+143(2)  = '02'.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+185(2)  = '01'.  "  Naturaleza titular
    wa_ti_fich-linha+187(10) = itab_saida-stceg+2(10).
    wa_ti_fich-linha+197(1)  = '2'.    " Formato do nombre
    wa_ti_fich-linha+198(110) = itab_saida-name1.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+329(1) =  '2'.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+330(110) = itab_saida-stras.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+446(50) = itab_saida-ort01." nom_mun :
    wa_ti_fich-linha+496(2) =  itab_saida-regio.
    wa_ti_fich-linha+501(5) = itab_saida-pstlz.
append wa_ti_fich to ti_fich .
please don send me links for scn  or google with similar subjects because i ve already checked it , believe me .
thank

255 is the maximum output lengh for CHAR variables in the Old Debugger. So it is normal that you don't see the end of the string in the Old Debugger.
If you have a newer R/3-Release you can use the New Debugger and choose the output format "Tabular". In this display format, the contents are portioned into 50 characters each and thus you'll see the complete string. In older R/3-Releases, where the New Debugger is not yet available, you will have to input manually offsets in the debugger to see the complete string.

  • Little problem with Strings.

              I have an little problem with Strings, i make one comparision like this.
              String nombre="Javier";
              if( nombre.equalsIgnoreCase(output.getStringValue("CN_NOMBRESf",null)) )
              Wich output.getStringValue("CN_NOMBRESf",null) is "Javier" too, because I display
              this before and are equals.
              What I do wrong?.

    You are actually making your users key in things like
    "\026"? Not very user-friendly, I would say. But
    assuming that is the best way for you to get your
    input, or if it's just you doing the input, the way to
    change that 4-character string into the single
    character that Java represents by '\026', you would
    use a bit of code like this:char encoded =
    (char)Integer.parseInt(substring(inputString, 1),
    16);
    DrClap has the right idea, except '\026' is octal, not hex. So change the radix from 16 to 8. Unicode is usually represented like '\u002A'. So it looks like you want:String s = "\\077";
    System.out.println((char)Integer.parseInt(s.substring(1), 8));Now all you have to do is parse through the String and replace them, which I think shouldn't be too hard for you now :)

  • Problem with String variable

    I am new to Java Programming.
    I have a line of code that works and does what is supposed to.
    faceData.getProfile("Lisa").removeFriend("Curtis");
    If I assign the strings to variables such as-
    String name = "Lisa";
    String fName = "Curtis";
    and then plug those into the same line of code, it does not work
    faceData.getProfile(name).removeFriend(fName);
    What could be causing the problem?
    I even added some lines to print out what is stored in the variables to verify that they are what they should be, but for some reason the variables do not work while putting the strings in quotes does. Any ideas?

    I guarantee that something about your assertions are incorrect. Those variables are either not equal to the values you claim, or something else is going on. But it's not a problem with string variables versus string constants.
    Edit: My best guess in lack of a real example from you, is that the strings in question have non-printable characters in them, such as trailing spaces or line feeds.

  • Problems with string encoding - need the text content in char* format.

    The problem is non ASCII-characters, which comes out as some sort of unicode I need to desipher.
    Here's what I got:
    A text frame object with the TextString "Agnartjørna"
    I get the text content of this object into an ai::UnicodeString the following way:
    AIErr
    VMGetTextOfTextArt( AIArtHandle textArt, ai::UnicodeString &ucStr)
        ASUnicode *textBuffer = NULL;
        AITRY {
            TextFrameRef ateTextRef;
            AIX( sAITextFrame->GetATETextFrame( textArt, &ateTextRef));
            ATE::ITextFrame ateText( ateTextRef);
            ATE::ITextRange ateRange = ateText.GetTextRange( true);
            ASInt32 textLen = ateRange.GetSize();
            AIX( sSPBlocks->AllocateBlock( (textLen+2) * sizeof( ASUnicode), nil, (void**) &textBuffer));
            ateRange.GetContents( textBuffer, (ASInt32) textLen+1);
            /* trim off trailing newlines */
            if ((textBuffer[textLen] == '\n') || (textBuffer[textLen] == '\r'))
                 textBuffer[textLen] = 0;
            ucStr.clear();
            ucStr.append( ai::UnicodeString( textBuffer, textLen));
            sSPBlocks->FreeBlock( textBuffer);
            textBuffer = NULL;
           AIRETURN;
        AICATCH {
            if (textBuffer) sSPBlocks->FreeBlock( textBuffer);
           AIPROPAGATE;
    Now, the next step is to convert it into a form that I can use to call regexp.
    Baiscally, I want to detect the ending "tjørna" (meaning small lake) on a map label, and apply a standard abbevriation "tj^a" (with "a" superscripted).
    So the problem is to obtain the regexp pattern and the text content in same encoding.  And since the regexp library is old *char based, I would like to convert the text content in to plain old *char.
    Hence the following code:
    static AIErr
    VMAbbreviateTextArt( AIArtHandle textArt,
                             vmTextAbbrevEffectParams *params)
        AITRY {
        /* first obtain the text contents of the textArt */
           ai::UnicodeString ucText;
          const int kTextLen = 256;
          char textContent[kTextLen];
          AIX( VMGetTextOfTextArt( textArt, ucText));
          ucText.as_Roman( textContent, kTextLen);
    But textContent now has the value "Agnartj\xbfnna"  (According to XCode),
    which will not get a match on the pattern "tj([øe][rn])na\\" (with  backslash matching the end of the string)
    Any other ways to convert the textContent to a plain *char string?

    Thank you very much, your method will work fine. with
    the "UTF-8" parameter the byte[].length is double,
    cause every valid byte is preceeded by an -62, but I
    will just filter the valid bytes into a new array.
    Thanks again,
    StefanActually what you need to do is to find the character encoding that your device expects, and then you can code your strings in Arabic.
    That's the way Java does things; Strings and char values are always in UNICODE (see www.unicode.org) (which means \u600 to \u6ff for arabic) and uses a specified character encoding when translating these to and from a byte stream.
    Each national character encoding has a name. Most of them are identical to ASCII for 0-127 and code their national characters in 128-255.
    Find the encoding name for your display and, odds are, the JRE has it in the library.
    BTW the character encoding ISO-8859-1 simply maps UNICODE characters 0-255 on to bytes.

  • Problem with  Non English Chars

    OS : Mac OS
    Java : 1.5.0_07
    Hi,
    i have an Swing application that reads data from a database and shows them in a swing GUI. The text returned by the database is in Arabic and saved in a TextField object.
    But once printed, the arabic chars are screwed up.or actually they r not arabic chars at all!!
    For debugging i also write the result of the query in the console and in a log4j log file.
    There, it is printed in the right form.
    here the code:
    System.out.println("D3"+java.nio.charset.Charset.defaultCharset().name());
    System.out.println("singular "+dit.getData().getSingular());
    log4j,debug("singular "+dit.getData().getSingular());
    Font font = Font.decode("Geeza Pro");
    textl.setFont(font);
    textl.setText(dit.getData().getSingular());
    The output in the console is (and log4j) :
    D3MacRoman
    singular صوف
    The output in the Swing Textfield is

    If i configure log4j to use UTF8 ,then even into log4j log file the same screwed
    chars are written.
    Looks like i've to tell Swing to use MacRoman, which is the default of the OS and
    the used by the console&log4j. but i don't know how to.
    Any clue??
    Thanks,
    Chris.

  • Problem with parsing large XML files chunked over HTTP

    I'm trying to isolate a bug that was introduced when upgrading the JRE in use from Java 7u51 to 7u71 without changing any code. The problem appears to be very similar to: Bug ID: JDK-8027359 XML parser returns incorrect parsing results.
    Further investigation showed that it was also introduced in the same versions (7u71) where that fix was applied. Unlike that bug though, my XML is marked as version 1.0. It also appears to be with only large XML files, on the order of 10MB or so.
    The closest I've been able to narrow it down to is the code is using JAXB to unmarshall a stream that the debugger tells me is a org.apache.http.com.EofSensorInputStream / org.apache.http.impl.io.ChunkedInputStream. The exception I get is not consistent, but typically appears to be from chunks being overwritten or shuffled, resulting in letters appearing in attributes that are actually numbers, or like the following where an attribute "testAttribute" gets partially overwritten by the end of a timestamp that was in a different section of the XML.
    javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException

      ... 6 more
    Here's some code that seems to reproduce it if you can connect to an XML server that returns a large chunked XML file:
      SchemeRegistry registry = new SchemeRegistry();
      registry.register(
                    new Scheme("http", 80, PlainSocketFactory.getSocketFactory()));
      HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(new BasicClientConnectionManager(registry));
      String url = "http://someUrlReturningAlargeChunkedXML";
      HttpGet method = new HttpGet(url);
      HttpResponse response = client.execute(method);
      InputStream inputStream = response.getEntity().getContent();
      XMLStreamReader responseReader = factory.createXMLStreamReader(inputStream);
      JAXBElement<JaxBObjectOfResponse> wot = unmarshaller.unmarshal(responseReader, JaxBObjectOfResponse.class);
    If you connect using URL.openStream() to the same service there is no error. If I read bytes directly and write to a file, there is no error. The error only happens when I try to unmarshal it, and it's large, and I'm using Java 7u71 (or later). It can be consistently repeated with the jsp webapp that I'm using, but didn't show the error when I used the same code with a Wikipedia dump XML file.
    How can I unmarshal in a different way to avoid this problem? Or, how can I better isolate the bug so it can be posted to the appropriate bug system?

    Apparently, adding the Woodstox XML libraries avoids the bug. Is there anyone who can reproduce this on another system? Was there any changes to the Stax implementation between u67 and u71 that may have introduced a bug like this?
    Edit: When setting the logging level to DEBUG, I once saw the overwritten buffer being logged as if that was what was received (as in the testAttribu00Z example above). I can't repeat that anymore though, and very rarely it does parses with no exception (though it may have still been corrupted). Now the error seems to be consistently on one of the buffer boundaries, as in:

  • Problem with String in a Vector

    I'm making a small hangman game. And I got a problem with putting words in a Vector... This is the code... Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    // First I define it.
    Vector Words;
    //  Then add the words
    Vector Words = new Vector();
    Words.add(new String("HELLO"));
    Words.add(new String("GOOD BYE"));
    // When I try to get a string from the Vector I use this.
    // The program compiles but when I try to run it I get NullPointerExeption here
    W = (String) Words.elementAt(0);

    Not sure since I cant see all of your code but looks like this might be your problem:
    // First I define it.
    Vector Words; //<-- here you define a Vector named Words that is null
    // Then add the words
    Vector Words = new Vector(); //<-- here you define another vector named Words that holds a reference to a new Vector. This is a different reference than the one created above so you should probably remove the "Vector" part from the beginning of this line. Is this a local variable to a method and the one before is a global variable?
    //Here you probably access the locally created Words vector which is initialized
    Words.add(new String("HELLO"));
    // When I try to get a string from the Vector I use this.
    // The program compiles but when I try to run it I get NullPointerExeption here
    W = (String) Words.elementAt(0); //<--and here my guess is that this statement is inside another method than the one with the local Words vector defined. Thus this one accesses the global Words Vector that is never initalized and is Null. And that gives you the NullPointerException.
    So try changing the statement
    Vector Words = new Vector();
    to
    Words = new Vector();
    or just remove it totally and move the Vector creation to the place where you introduce the global variable.
    Of course I might be totally wrong since I cant see all of your code but that is my guess.
    Hope it helps,

  • StringTokenizer class problem with strings in double quotes

    Hello Technocrats,
    I have a problem with tokenizing following string enclosed in (). (abc," India, Asia", computer engineer). My separator is ",", thus StringTokenizer class gives me 4 tokens namely abc, "India, Asia" and computer engineer. But I require that String in double quotes should be a single token. How to achieve this using StringTokenizer class? Or is there any other way?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try

  • Problems with a large monitor?

    In an earlier [post|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8888529#8888529] I mentioned my problems with jerky playback in iMovie 09. After lots of testing, it seems that the problem is related to my 30" monitor. When I start up iMovie on my MacBook Pro without the monitor attached, the playback appears pretty smooth. But with iMovie running on the 30" it is jerky. (Playing the clip in QuickTime is smooth, so it's not an inherent inability of the graphics chip to drive a large monitor quickly).
    Anyone else using a 30" monitor successfully with iMovie? (Mine is an HP3065).

    Two thoughts on this. First, are you connecting using DVI to VGA adapter? If your tv has a dvi input, use that - it's much better. Second, are you editing HD? If so, watching the video from within iMovie is for previewing. A finished Project Exported using Quicktime or Shared to one of the pre-defined output formats will produce a movie that will play back correctly even though it perhaps stutters at times from iMovie.

  • CS5 Memory Problems, with Tiff large format

    Dear Friends
    This problem hit many people before me and there was a lot of feedbacks and helps given, but my case is add on to all other responses.
    I have PC with 12gb triple channel memory with I7 processor and 2gb Nvidia 460GTX graphic card, plus win 7 ultimate 64bit, and I though nothing should stop me. but I was wrong, at time it irritating and time consuming but so far no help.
    I rendered an image in Accurender and saved 2 times ones JPEG and ones TIFF just so I have both to see which one will print better quality sharp etc. I have both 64bit photo shop and 32bit, when I open the JPEG 330mb, Photoshop opens and I can crop etc, but when I open the TIFF file which is 420mb I get message saying no enough memory, which you may seen or come across.
    Steps I took so far:
    ·         Gave Photoshop more memory through preferences, not that it needs 64bit! no change
    ·         Tried the openGL on and off, the card is Palit Geforce 460GTX and supports opengl 4, no help.
    ·         scratch disc if 200gb so no space shortage, I have 2x300GB disc space
    ·         Played with increasing the cache to higher or lower, no help.
    ·         Just incase you say is my image is corrupted, no the win preview loads the image no problems.
    Similar problems with Adobe Indesign the large Tiff file can be placed on to A3 sheet all OK, but if I send to the printer I get message no enough memory, not sure if it is a printer memory or Indesign can handle the file, it handles 330mb JPEG no problem,
    400~450mb file is not that big and should be working fine, is it the TIFF and why!!.
    Have you come across this problems do you resolved please let me know.
    Biyoroob

    Near as I can tell, you didn't actually say what the pixel count is in the large image that's causing you problems.  You mention "330 MB JPEG" and "420 MB TIFF"...  Is that 420 MB in the traditional photographic sense, or a file that's 420 MB on disk?  If the latter, it's not clear whether it is saved with compression...
    Please clear this up - what's the pixel count, horizontally and vertically, in the TIFF file you cannot open?  Also, what's the color depth (bits/channel)?
    At first blush, and if I'm interpreting what you wrote correctly, you might expect the file sizes on disk to show a greater difference between 330 MB and 420 MB (JPEG vs. TIFF), but that would depend on the content and whether you have compression in the TIFF.
    And it seems at least part of your problem is with printing, yet you don't mention the printer brand/model at all...  What printer is it?  From the sound of things the limitations may be in the printer driver, not the app, but that's not clear.  How big is the print that's failing?  A3?

  • [SOLVED!] On USB drives, problems with non-English chars and HAL

    Hello,
    I am having a problem with non-English caracters (áãàçéẽê...) on files stored on my USB drive.
    On Windows they're created with the correct name. But on Linux the files have the non-English characteres replaced by '?' and are not accessible.
    If I manuallly mount the drives using 'mount -o iocharset=utf8 /dev/sdb1 /media/usbdisk' the characters are OK, so I think I just need to get HAL to pass the correct parameters to mount. However I don't know how to do that, and haven't found any good solution.
    I tried to build a custom kernel setting the default charset as UTF-8 and it didn't work.
    Any ideas? I'm using x86-64, HAL 0.5.13-3 and my locale is pt-BR.UTF-8.
    Thanks!
    EDIT: Actually, this is not a HAL problem, but a problem with 'exo'. For the solution, I edited /etc/xdg/xfce4/mount.rc and added iocharset=utf8 to the [vfat] category.

    I don't use Thunar presently, but I looked in the Thunar Volume Manager doc and I didn't find anything to change the mount options of removable drives. I am not quite sure if it's possible or not. Maybe someone using it can tell for sure.
    But if it is not possible to change the mount options, a possible solution is to disable the Thunar Volume Manager plugin and to use something else more configurable to manage the automount function.
    Personally I use the halevt package from AUR which uses configuration files in the xml format.
    It's not so easy to use but is highly configurable.
    But there exists other tools also.
    I can help you with halevt if you choose that way...

    hope someone can help
    thanx in advance

    1. Why do you check to see if the token starts with
    //, /*, etc, etc. Later you check if the token
    equals private, public, protected. It couldn't
    equal if it started with a comment.if the token starts with a comment i dont want to read the rest of the line, so i set the isComment flag to true
    2. I strongly suggest that you do it line by line.
    Perhaps a string tokenizer that only tokenizes by
    lines, then within that loop, another that tokenizes
    by whitespace. i take it you mean putting the text into a bufferedreader and then using readLine()?? Bit new to string tokenization as you can possibly see
    i managed to get the small test text to work more or less as i wanted but when ever i load a large code listing, the results are erratic to say the least
    heres a section of this code
    private int textNum = 0;/**Integer used to hold the text position within any given line*/
         private int lineNum = 0;/**Integer used to hold the line number within any given file*/
         static boolean application = false;/**Used to track if applet is ran from a browser or JAR file*/
         static boolean fileOpened = false;/**Used to track if file has already been opened*/
         static boolean isComment = false;
         private char lCurve = '(';
         private char rCurve = ')';
         private char lCurly = '{';
         private char rCurly = '}';
         private char lSquare = '[';
         private char rSquare = ']';
         String fullText = "";and heres the output
    public int textNum //should be private!!!!
    int lineNum //missing private
    boolean application //missing static
    boolean fileOpened //missing static
    boolean isComment //missing static
    //all below missing private
    char lCurve
    char rCurve
    char lCurly
    char rCurly
    char lSquare
    char rSquare
    String fullText //not there at all

  • Problems with String.getBytes() method

    Consider this code
        for(int k=0 ; k<256 ; k++)
           char[] cc = {(char)k};
           String xxx = new String(cc);
           byte b1 = (byte)xxx.charAt(0);
           byte[] bb = xxx.getBytes();
           byte b2 = bb[0];
           boolean diff = (b1!=b2);
           if (diff)
           System.out.println(k+" - "+b1+" - "+b2);
         }for k from 128 to 159 b1 and b2 are different and in particular b2 (that is the result of getString() method) is every time equals to 63.
    Does someone know if it is a bug or what else.

    char variables store 16 bit UNICODE characters. If you cast char to byte you're just taking the low order 8-bits of a unicode character.
    On the other hand getBytes attempts to convert a character into a byte, or sequence of bytes using the default character encoding of the machine, which won't generally corespond. National character encodings meen that non-ASCII characters, including national stuff like pound sign, may well map from UNICODE characters above 255 into a single byte.
    The character encoding which does corespond to the bottom 8 bits of UNICODE is ISO-8859-1. If you try it with that your discrepancies will disappear.

  • GUI_DOWNLOAD: problems with table containing char length 8000

    Hi
    I have some problems using GUI_DOWNLOAD. Here is some of my code:

    An example of data in g_record:
    Hans,Kruger,Berlin,Superstrass 3,0101709991,,,,,,,,,,,,
    When I open the resulting file in notepad the above data is present, and that's a good thing! The bad thing is that for every entry I have in the g_record table the GUI_DOWNLOAD puts 8000 characters into the file (the data from g_record and trailing blanks so that the line becomes 8000 chars long). I dont want the trailing blanks and TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS dont seem to work. Have any of you had hte same problem and/or is there a solution?!
    I have tried using filetype ASC and here I dont get the trailing blanks, but another problem hits me. I cant download more that 1024 characters from each entry in g_record and thats not good enough!
