problems: ?(
1) in "Black&White" and "No one lives forever" i get strange problems with textures - it shows everything at the same time (ie what's behind a wall), it all blinks. (isn't that connected with Z-buffer??)
2) the MSI program i've installed gives me warnings that the voltage in the graphics card or the fan speed has changed. In BIOS i can see the statistics:
ie "4,89v" (it changes every 2 seconds) next to a "5v"
I've read some of the threads, and i think that you'll say it's the power supply, but what else could it be? i'd like to try all the other things before changing (buying a new) power supply. The drivers are newest, and games like: Medal of Honor, Morrowind, Wolfenstein, Quake III run great.

You are running an NV17 which is not has power hungry as the NV25.
I would try using the latest nVidia Detonator4 Drivers from the nVidia Website.

I have this problem, as well, since the upgrade to 4.0.1. After the upgrade, I found several 'Recovered Files' in my Trash. On taking a look, they all had to do with the Crowdstar app. Happy Aquarium, I believe, but there are several folders of them. Some of them could have to do with Zynga's FarmVille.
However, after repeated problems, I installed Chrome 10. to see if the Facebook apps. would work. They did, without problems. That tells me the folders in Trash shouldn't have anything to do with whether they operate or not but it has something to do with something Firefox has done, or not done, with this upgrade. Frankly, I'm baffled and more than a little annoyed. :/
However, thinking back to the upgrade, it happened suddenly while I was on the phone with AppleCare on another matter. It was they who suggested I needed to upgrade my browser and I did it immediately, on-the-spot. It wasn't what you would call a 'clean install' because I was on the phone but also online with AppleCare. The process went so fast, I remember there were things about the installation that didn't quite seem right and I do remember that the earlier version of Firefox was not removed prior to the upgrade. Is there any chance something could be out-of whack because of this? If so, I need to know how to save my passwords, bookmarks, profile, and any other critical info that would need to be transferred.

WRT160N - problem with on-line games and downloading

Several months ago I bought a WRT160N router and I have a strange problem.
When I play online games, such as QL, and someone else will start downloading from the Internet, from time to time about 10 sec I have 999 ping
I turned on in the background ping to the router, and from time to time about 10 sec there are 2-3 ansewers with 1900-2000 ms.
I tought that when I buy router with N-mode everything will work better, and there will be no problems with on-line gaming.
Is there any way to fix this problem??

I checked now and even no one is downloading there is the same problem.
I checked on other router and it works fine.
Next problem is when I browse youtube and play several films simultaneously, suddenly there are no responses from router, when I close them, and wait for a moment the responses are back.
Whether anyone had similar problem??

Problem with "The Movies" game DVD

Ok, here is my problem.
I bought the game "The Movies", at first it was working fine, but one evening, I tried to upload a movie and it just didn't do it. I tried 3 or 4 times, but I could never upload my movie.
So I stop trying and the day after when I tried to play, I put my DVD in my computer, when I tryed to play, it says put the DVD in the computer, but the DVD was already in, so I took it out, cleaned it and put it back, but then the DVD never appeared on the desktop.
I tried many other DVD/CD and everything works just fine.
Then I delete everything from the game (maybe I shouldn't have) and tried again, but nothing.
Later I learn that a Flip4Mac update was causing some problem with the game and I did something when installing a mod, I had the french version, but the .txt in the mod was in english, so I add, the english (en-UK) in a file.
Now, I rebought the game + the expansion (The Movies + The Movies Stunts & Effects, the english version this time) and the same thing is going on, the "The Movies" DVD won't appear on the desktop, but when I put "Stunts & Effects" in it works fine.
What can I do?

Satellite Pro C650D - Problems with audio and game controllers

Hi,
I have recently had problems with my microphone and speakers/headphones as well as game controllers.
The microphone sometimes stops working when on Skype for example, but most of the time works fine again when I restart the pc.
The speakers are sometimes still working when I plug in headphones.
Some of the sounds are still coming through the speakers where as some coming through the headphones.
I have a usb game controller which also did not work any more properly.
If I assign the buttons in the program they do not work in the game.
All these device are in the device manager in one group which makes me think that it is some kind of dodgy annoying update that messes around with them.
Does any body have similar problems or know what to do best?

Regarding the sound/mic issue:

Are you talking about internal or external mic? Does this happen only using Skype?
In your case I would test the mic using different applications to ensure that this is not a Skype related issue.

I dont think its notebook problem in my opinion you should ensure that the controller is compatible with games you are playing and would also recommend checking some info providing by manufacturer of the game controller.

Massive Sound problems with X-Fi Gamer F. Pro + BF2

First of all, my system:
CPU: Intel E6400 (not overclocked)
Mobo: DFI Infinity 975X/G (most recent BIOS)
RAM: 2 GB OCZ
Video: GeForce 7900 GT
Other PCI card: Netgear W-Lan card
OS: Win XP 32 Bit SP 2
I bought a new X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty Pro. (SB0460) last wednesday. It's working fine except in BF242. The trouble starts when I change the Settings to "X-Fi" and very high sound quality. As soon as I start to load a map I hear some strange scratching noise and sometimes the music disappears. And then all of a sudden something like a soundstorm bursts out of my speakers (http://rapidshare.com/files/527654/Stoergeraeusche.mp3.html for those who would like to hear it). It sounds as if the X-Fi was accessing the BF242 sound database and mixing all kinds of different sounds with some scratching noise. This only happens in gaming mode and only if I turn on "X-Fi" in the BF242 settings. If I choose "hardware" instead (resulting in very high sound quality not beeing available anymore, only high quality) I don't have any problems at all. This leads me to believe that there might be some issues with EAX 5.0. BF242 is the only EAX 5.0 game I own and the only game I'm having problems with.
I've already deinstalled the drivers and removed all the remains with with "Driver Cleaner". I reinstalled them, I've switched the W-Lan card with the X-Fi, I've removed the W-Lan card completely and I've reinstalled BF242, but without success.
Is there any solution for this problem or could it be possible that I bought a broken X-Fi?

I Join the club i have had this problem for ages my games will just freeze and then i get this crazy screetching noise i have never been able to fix the problem its creative all over for you crapy drivers i have had enough of creative and wont be bying one of their cards again try it in a different pci slot or try some different drivers if its still in warranty complain to creative get shirty with them and they might rma it if all else fails goods luck rich

Problem with sound in games requiring quicktime

I recently purchased CSI 1. I installed the game and the latest version of quicktime player. As soon as the game starts and the first character starts talking the game pauses as if loading and then plays for a second and pauses again for a few seconds. This intermittent sound problem makes it impossible to play the game as the freezing stops everything from functioning. I tried another game that requires quicktime to be installed and that game is pausing the same. Has anyone else had this problem? I have all the latest drivers installed for Vista. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi all welcome as you can see I'm new to your forum. So I have a problem as it concerns the sound in games.
Namely, I bought a Creative Headset HS-800 Fatality everything good in listening to music, etc.
But when I go to the game, I turned the sound (someone shoots to the left I hear him right, and vice versa.)
Yes, in all games but mostly it is felt such a battlefiel or call of duty.
At first I thought that this is the fault of my sound card but it's not because I was in a mate and in him was the same ... This recently replaced the computer and the same thing.

Problems with X-Fi (gami

I read many messages about problems with games which supporting X-Fi but the "On/Off" switch is greyed out. You see, I also have this problem. First, I have played Condemned Criminal Origins demo and I couldn't enable X-Fi. I thought it's something wrong ONLY with demo. But, few days ago I bought Commandos Strike Force and... it's the same problem! Of course I've downloaded a patch for Commandos, which SHOULD fix this X-Fi problem but... it's not working for me. Next, I've dowloaded the latest Realtek sound drivers (I don't know WHY though :/), latest drivers for Sound Blaster X-Fi but it still doesn't work. I think maybe my TV card (Avermedia TV Go!) is messin up but I don't want to unplug it. I didn't pay THAT much money for my card (i have X-Fi Music Xtreme) but when I am thinking, that I am not using this card at 00%... it just makes me fill sick. Oh, and I don't have any cameras or something like that (I heard that cameras are messing). If someone can help me, please answer Sorry for my english, I hope everything is clear. Thanks in advance.

Are you switching to Game mode before you launch the game? I know the games I have all require switching if I want to use x-fi features. I know it seems silly solution but have to ask, just in case its an easy fix. If that was the issue there is a very handy free app someone here wrote that makes it so you can create & autoload modes, extremely helpful. Game crashing could be caused by few problems, could be software or hardware. Assuming we're looking into hardware, I suggest you run MEMTEST for your RAM and see if your RAM is defected. Other than that, I can't think of any reason than power supply. But you stated you have a 480 W which should be sufficient. It could be a known problem with ATI on Far Cry? But if this's the case, ATI should be able to deal with it via Driver Update.
If it's software, this is broad. Does Far Cry have any patch?

Strange Problem With Mail Leads to Strange Discovery in Console...

I had a problem with Mail.app that seems to (sort of) be resolved: the 'Mail Activity' monitor indicated a changing download rate, but the progress bar never actually got going, an no mail was downloaded. I let it sit for a long time, searched around these forums, and ended up just erasing all my mailboxes and re-starting Mail fresh, which has at least temporarily solved the problem.
Over the course of my troubleshooting I ran the console, where I found this curious sequence of messages popping up every minute or so:
