Proc Migration

Hi All,
I am new to this Proc and I have basic knowledge of Forms/Reports.
We have an application which is in client server (Forms 6i and Reports 6i)
We are migrating forms & reports to 10g. We have some proc procedures.
1. How do I find the version of Proc?
2 To which version of Proc should I migrate ?
3 Is Proc Supported with webforms 10g ?
Thanks
Steve

  • Sql server stored procs migration to oracle

    Can't I migrate only the stored procedures alone of sql server db to Oracle using sql developer? How to load the .ocp files with the stored procs I have?

    Hi,
    I don't know how to manually update the generated captured files (bat, ocp) with other information or even if it is possible, as the bat files extract data from the SQL*Server data dictionary information to populate the files for the load. If the stored procedures have already been created in the SQL*Server database then they will added to the generated OCP information. If you want to manually change the files then you'll have to work it out for yourself, I'm afraid.
    If they are not in the SQL*Server database and exist only as the create statements in text files then you have 2 options, as far as I can see -
    - either run the scripts to create the stored procedures in the database before running the migration
    - use the translation scratch editor and put the procedure create SQL into that to convert to Oracle format -
    Tools > Migration >Translation Scratch Editor
    You need to be aware that translation of stored procedures isn't always automatically 100% completed and manual intervention is sometimes needed, depending on the complexity of the procedure and how it is written.

  • Stored Proc Migration question

    In sql server I have what is basically a select statement (multiple records) that is returned from a stored proc and as I understand it Oracle doesn't allow you do this in the same fashion.
    Instead a cursor has to be used (from what i understand?, although I am not 100% sure)
    so my question is this; Use of cursors in MS SQL Sever / Sybase can be resource intensive and slow. - my understanding of cursors in SQL server\ sybase is that you should really use them unless you have to.
    Is this the case in Oracle, or is it totally different?
    should I be looking at a different way of reproducing the data - i.e. using a procedure to create that data into a table then using a view to return the records.
    many thanks

    Any SQL statement that returns records is a cursor, whether in Oracle od SQL Server or Sybase. There may be a larger difference in SQL Server performance between explicit cursors (i.e. those formally declared) and implicit cursors (i.e. just select) than there is in Oracle, but they are all still cursors.
    The only way to retunr a result set to a calling program from a stored proc in Oracle is to use a cursor. Cursors, in themselves, are not any more resource intensive than the underlying sql statement. What tends to be resource intensive in Oracle is the row by row processing that people usually do with th cursors they fetch.
    In Oracle, you would generally do something like this to return a cursor to another program.
    PROCEDURE p (p_id IN NUMBER, p_cur OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
    BEGIN
       OPEN p_cur FOR SELECT * FROM t WHERE id = p_id;
    END;Then call it like:
    DECLARE
       l_cur SYS_REFCURSOR;
       variables or a record to receive the fields
    BEGIN
       p(1, l_cur);
       LOOP
          FETCH l_cur INTO variables or record
          EXIT WHEN l_cur%NOTFOUND;
          <processing>
       END LOOP;
    END;The exact syntax to declare the cursor and call the stored proc will depend on the language of the calling program.
    You could also do P as a function returning a sys_refcursor.

  • Speed up proces of migration Interactive Reporting version 8.3.2 to 9.3.1.

    Is there a way to speed up the proces of migration Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3.2 to Interactive reporting 9.3.1?
    What I tried and what helped was:
    SQL repository transfer has been improved by copying (select into the old db tables to the new repository.
    Transfering the repository files is done by a manual xcopy script from server A to server B.
    But the proces of renamning and converting the bqy files into the new version is very very slow. And we have to convert about 8000 files.
    I found a java heap size setting in the run.xml but I am not aware of any improvements after increasing that value.
    It is the brioqry_s.exe which takes much time to open, convert and save the individual files.
    Is is just a matter of adding extra cpu or memory? I am not too familiar with that kind of things. But if anyone has a idea we can work on it.
    Hope to heare from you, Detlev

    we had to much job output. We deleted it in the source. That helped a lot.
    Also the USAGE events where deleted just from the sql tables. It useless information in a new environment so why bother migrating it. Now it ruins within 13 hours. Thats acceptable.

  • Parse errors on 'white space' when migrating procs/triggers from Sybase

    getting:
    Error occurred on line nn:
    oracle.mtg.sybase12.parser.ParseException:
    Parse error at line nn, column 1.
    Encountered:
    looks like this happens for every proc/trigger that has a blank line at the end of its text.
    anyone know of any fix/workaround for this?
    thx

    Hi Collierville,
    The 'Repository' term referes to the Oracle schema/user where you told the OMWB to create its repository. You reference this schema when you log into the OMWB.
    The OMWB created lots of tables to hold the captured and converted details of your database. Its this Oracle schema that you should run the script on using SQL Developer or SQL*Plus.
    I tried your testcase with 10.1.0.4 and still cant produce an issue. I put a few new empty lines at the bottom as well. So something fishy is happening.
    Due to not having information about your SWINT datatype the following is generated for me.
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION swsp_greateq_zero(
    fieldValue      IN SWINT DEFAULT NULL)
    RETURN INTEGER
    AS
    BEGIN
         IF fieldValue < 0 THEN
         BEGIN
              RETURN 1;
         END;
         ELSE
         BEGIN
              RETURN 0;
         END;
         END IF;
    END swsp_greateq_zero;
    Just to note, We are releasing a Sybase 12 and Sybase 15 plugin for the new SQL Developer Migration Workbench in the next release, which will hopefully be early next year.

  • How to migrate stored procs accessing columns "LEFT" and "RIGHT"

    Hello!
    I have to migrate a SYBASE11-Database to Oracle 8.1.7.
    How can I migrate Stored Procs that access tables that contain columns 'LEFT' and 'RIGHT'?
    OMWB reports a parse error "encountered: ,". If ommit the words 'left' or 'right' or if I write 'left()' or 'right()', it works. But I have to use these columns and we cannot change the database model.
    It doesn't work with quoted column names like this: "LEFT" or "RIGHT".
    I use OWMB 1.3.1.0.0. Anybody any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    Yours, Heiko Kaschube

    This is a simple matter to fix.
    As the words LEFT and RIGHT are treated as reserved words by the stored procedure parser, they cannot be used successfully as column names within Oracle PL/SQL.
    In order to get the stored procedure to parse, you can append an underscore to all references to LEFT and RIGHT e.g.
    left_
    then right click on the stored procedure name and select 'parse procedure' from the drop-down menu. The procedure will now parse and the generated PL/SQL can be viewed within the Oracle model menu tab.
    It will now be necessary to remove all the underscores previously appended to the words 'left' and 'right' from the PL/SQL version of the stored procedure in question. Again, this can be done within the Migration Workbench.
    Hope this helps.

  • Stored Procs not migrating to Oracle.

    I am using Oracle 8.1.5 work bench version 2.0.2.0.0. using SQLSERVER plug-in.
    I am able to successfully capture the source database from SQLSERVER. After creating the Oracle Model the Oracle Model tab is not showing all the user objects (tables, proc etc). But when I generate the Oracle database I see all the tables/indexes and data. The problem is it did not create my stored procedures.
    Can we use the work bench to migrate Stored procedures from SQLSERVER to Oracle ?
    Stored Procedures are not migrating to ORacle.
    Help is appreciated.
    -Ramesh.

    Are you seeing any errors.
    The Workbench will migrate stored procedures usually they are migrated to the 'sa' user in Oracle.
    Please contact [email protected] if you have any more issues.

    Hi Tuna ,
    Thanks for the feedback.
    Stored procedure names are collision managed so that they are not longer than 30 characters in length. This is a limitation of Oracles object naming convention.

  • MSSQL migration bug : EXEC proc param1 OUT

    Hi,
    If you are translating MSSQL stored procedure that calls another which has OUT parameter, remove "OUT" words before translating.
    SQLDeveloper stops translation at this call without warning or error.
    I think its a bug.(How can i reach to bug database of SQLDeveleoperMWB?)
    good luck
    tuna

    Hi Tuna,
    Thanks for this feedback.
    We are currently wrapping up our 10.2.1 release, but I will make sure this issue is resolved first.
    I have logged a bug
    6266209 : OUT PARAMETERS CAUSE THE TRANSLATOR TO FAIL WITH NO WARNINGS OR ERRORS
    I was able to replicate the issue using the following testcase.
    T-SQL
    drop procedure proca
    go
    create procedure proca @param_out int out
    as
    begin
    select @param_out = 10
    end
    go
    drop procedure procb
    go
    create procedure procb
    as
    declare @var_1 int
    begin
    exec proca @var_1 OUT
    select @var_1
    end
    go
    PL/SQL
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE procb
    AS
    v_var_1 NUMBER(10,0);
    BEGIN
    BEGIN
    proca(v_var_1);
    END;
    END;
    The missing SELECT statement after the procedure call.
    It looks as if our translator does not recognize the "OUT" keyword correctly.
    This will be fixed ASAP. Ill keep you updated.

    Dermot.

  • Can't run stored proc after migration to Active Directory

    I just moved our company's SQL server 2000 server from our
    old NT domain to our new Active Directory. After makign this
    switch, i noticed one thing that won't work right.
    it is a coldfusion page that calls a stored procedure on the
    SQL server using the followign code:L
    <cfstoredproc procedure="dbo.erehabDTS_import"
    datasource="#Application.DSN#"
    returncode="yes">
    the stored procedure then calls a DTS package which imports
    data from a text file (uploaded by the CF page) into a SQL server
    table. It all worked before moving to active directory, but now
    when i run the CF page, i get the following error:
    Error Executing Database Query.
    [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]xpsql.cpp:
    Error 1788 from LogonUserW on line 620
    Error Code: HY000
    NativeErrorCode: 50001
    can someone please help?

    If you are not already using the latest JDBC drivers (ver
    3.5), upgrade to them. The new microsoft sql driver has updated
    code for doing NTAuthentication logins. Test with it.
    Get the
    Technote
    and download the zip. Apply both files as indicated. There are
    instructions for using NTAuth in the technote. Make sure to follow
    those. If you are using ntauth., make sure the ColdFusionMX
    application service is running as that user in the services
    applet.

  • Mac mini halts on "WaitForSystemMapper" after migration to Mac OS 10.8.5

    Hi,
    I have a mac mini mid 2010 with 4Gb RAM, nVidia GeForce 320M, HDMI running well under mac OS 10.7 last update
    After making a clone on external USB disk, I tried to migrate to OS 10.8.5 I bought in june 2014 from the Apstore (after having halt after an attempt to Maverick migration)
    1) I had also an halt after the OS 10.8.5 migration (grey screen with apple)
    2) After shut down by pressing power button during 5s, I tried dto restart in Verbose mode (Apple+V key pressed at start), the it shows the following :
    - some FIPS check are done, all passed with success,
    - the it halts on "WaitForSystemMapper" with some hexadecimal indication following
    3) After shut down by pressing power button during 5s, I have been abble to start OS 10.8.5 without the extension (safe mode with upcase key at start)
    I tried to disinstall all non Apple programs but without result (same halt at reboot in normal mode)
    4) I also tried to reinit the SMC (unplugging the mac, then starting after replug and 10s wait) : the same
    5) I also tried to reinit the PRAM (Apple+Alt+P+R at start) : the same
    6) Then, i formated the HD of the Mac mini and isntalled OS 10.8.5 from the external USB disk where I put the OS 10.8.5 installer
    It rebooted well on the Mac mini HD to install OS 10.8.5
    Then I requested to import data (accounts, programs and system setup) from the backup USB disk
    It went well, but I was requested to upgrade the system and other Aps : I did it and.... again the same halt, with the same message  and stop at "WaitForSystemMapper" when looking in verbose mode
    Do you have any idea of what can occur, what can I displace or test in ktex for instance?
    I would like not to have to reinstall all Aps manually, with their proper user data
    Thank you in adavance for help

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    Paste into the window of another application.
    Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Shell commands from JSP after Forms migration

    During application migration from forms 9i to JSP & BC4J, I have to code the following Forms code into my JSP application.This is for a button pressed trigger.
    DECLARE
    RENAME_STRING VARCHAR2(120):= 'RENAME C:\BRC\PDATA' ||:DRAWING_ACCOUNTS.ACCOUNT_ID|| '.TXT P' || :DRAWING_ACCOUNTS.ACCOUNT_ID || TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DDMMYY')|| '.txt';
    BEGIN
    HOST( RENAME_STRING, no_screen );
    web.show_document( 'http://hostname/selectfile.html', '_new');
         IF NOT Form_Success THEN
              Message('Error -- File not Renamed.');
         END IF;
    END;
    How can I do this simple sending of OS commands in JSP, any ideas?

    Hi,
    Not only rename commands but I have to pass several other os commands like 'sqlldr' for data upload as well. Therefore, I need a reusable piece of code for that. I have acheived some way for that using the following code.
    put the following file in that package.
    package BankrecBC4J;

    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;

  • Migrating data to a "new" setup, questions

    Hi fellow Archers,
    This is my current setup:
    Atom+ION board with 3 SATA ports + 1 PCI card with 2 SATA ports.
    Storage:
    2x 2TB
    1x 1.5TB
    1x 1TB
    They are all part of the same vg:
    [root@ion ~]# vgdisplay
    --- Volume group ---
    VG Name lvmvolume
    System ID
    Format lvm2
    Metadata Areas 4
    Metadata Sequence No 46
    VG Access read/write
    VG Status resizable
    MAX LV 0
    Cur LV 1
    Open LV 1
    Max PV 0
    Cur PV 4
    Act PV 4
    VG Size 5.89 TiB
    PE Size 4.00 MiB
    Total PE 1544372
    Alloc PE / Size 1544372 / 5.89 TiB
    Free PE / Size 0 / 0
    VG UUID E15rQM-mRJc-OLJH-C3Jo-NL6Y-g2ZQ-MP7PSz
    I now have a new mainboard and a SATA controller card (PCI-E 1x) coming, with two new 2TB drives. Also a cheap small SSD on the way for the OS.
    What I want to do: Migrate all data to a new RAID5 array consisting of 4x 2TB drives.
    Is this possible without losing any data?
    Thanks!

    Shameless self-reply-bump;
    I now have the new parts except the controller. When I get that I'm going to set up the new system, trying to migrate away all data off one 2TB drive so I can pull it out of the lvm volume group.
    Then I can create a new RAID5 array with 2 new and 1 old 2TB drives and start moving the data to that one. When that's done, I'll move the other 2TB drive that was in the volume group, to the RAID5 array. That way I should end up with 4 2TB HDDs in RAID5.
    I need to do some research first on what stripe size to use, filesystem, etc, as well as if it's best to have the HDDs on the controller (PCI-E 1x) or on the onboard SATA controller (which should be faster since it's not bottlenecked by the PCI-E 1x bus).
    Thanks
    Edit: New system installed, data migration ongoing. Managed to borrow a 2TB drive off a friend, migrated data to that so I could take one old 2TB out of the lvm, thus giving me 3 unused 2TB HDDs, on which I created a RAID5 array. Currently migrating data to it while it's initializing the parity etc...

    Edit: BEWARE!!
    sata_mv: Highpoint RocketRAID BIOS CORRUPTS DATA on all attached drives, regardless of if/how they are configured. BEWARE!
    sata_mv: For data safety, do not use sectors 8-9 on "Legacy" drives, and avoid the final two gigabytes on all RocketRAID BIOS initialized drives.
    That was the culprit! I shrunk the device usage per partition like so:
    Avail Dev Size : 3907025072 (1863.01 GiB 2000.40 GB)
    Array Size : 11702108160 (5580.00 GiB 5991.48 GB)
    Used Dev Size : 3900702720 (1860.00 GiB 1997.16 GB)
    So it's using 1860 out of 1863 or so GB per partition, that way I should be safe corruption wise. It would be best to shrink the actual partitions (sd[b,c,d,g]1), but I don't know how to do that without messing everything up.

  • Problem with Migration Forms to Apex ...

    Hello !!
    I discovered Apex a few days ago, so I began with the Oracle tutorials, where I found the conversion from Forms to Apex : "Converting Your Oracle Forms Applications to Application Express 3.2".
    I tried to do the same, with a Unix server and my laptop with Windows.
    I downloaded the Forms which where on my Unix server on my laptop, and then converted them with frmf2xml.bat.
    Then I created a project and uploaded only one Forms Module (_fmb.XML). After upload, the Percent Complete column is lower than 100%.
    My problem is at the following step : "Generating Your Application Express Application".
    When I click on "Create Application", select "Based on Migration Project" and then on "Next", I have one of the following errors :
    - 1 error has occurred * The project, "Test Gestuser" does not contain any Blocks associated with database objects.
    - 1 error has occurred * Database schema PROCIE does not contain the associated database objects for the project, login. Ensure the database schema associated with the project contains the database objects associated with the uploaded Forms Module .XML file(s)
    I really don't understand these two errors, having yet checked all the possible error sources, user, schema, ... ?:|
    I have probably forgotten to give some informations, so ask them ;)
    Thanks for your help,
    Pierre C.

    I found the problem(s) ... but now I have another one !!
    The problems are with the Forms : I opened them with Forms Builder and created a new Block with the assistant. Then I compared this block with another "normal" block : they haven't the same properties.
    My block has an associated canvas and database source, whereas the other "normal" blocks haven't.
    Where does the error come from ??
    Is there something to do with Forms Builder ?
    On my Unix server before downloading the forms ?
    Another thing to do ??
    Thanks,
    Pierre C.
