Procedure in pl/sql.

good morning to all,
i would like to ask a simple question, however i can't find the answer in a pl/sql tutorial. how can i return more than one value in a procedure? an example given?

I mostly don't use OUT-Parameter to return data in a procedure. Getting data is something, that should be done in return-values of functions. OUT-Parameters are good for things like INC (value), DEC (value) or when the same parameter needs to be IN and OUT - Parameter.
If you need more than one value back, create a type, an array, a varray, a collection, ... you have so many options. After that you assign this type as RETURN-parameter to your function. Then you can assign the function-return-value to a variable of this type.

According to the documentation:
ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number string with name "string" too small
Cause: Rollback records needed by a reader for consistent read are overwritten by other writers.
Action: If in Automatic Undo Management mode, increase the setting of UNDO_RETENTION. Otherwise, use larger rollback segments.
Error: ORA-01555: snapshot too old (rollback segment too small)
Cause: This error can be caused by one of the problems, as described below.
Action: The options to resolve this Oracle error are:
This error can be the result of there being insufficient rollback segments.
A query may not be able to create the snapshot because the rollback data is not available. This can happen when there are many transactions that are modifying data, and performing commits and rollbacks. Rollback data is overwritten when the rollback segments are too small for the size and number of changes that are being performed.
To correct this problem, make more larger rollback segments available. Your rollback data for completed transactions will be kept longer.
This error can be the result of programs not closing cursors after repeated FETCH and UPDATE statements.
To correct this problem, make sure that you are closing cursors when you no longer require them.
This error can occur if a FETCH is executed after a COMMIT is issued.
The number of rollback records created since the last CLOSE of your cursor will fill the rollback segments and you will begin overwriting earlier records.

Unfortunately, it is not possible in Xir2 to create Webi reports from stored procedures.
Webi reports can only be created from Universe. So in Business Objects XIR3 we can create a special universe that enables Web Intelligence user's to access stored procedures residing in the database. This is the only way that Web Intelligence user's can access stored procedures.

How to execute stored procedure in the SQL Commands page

i'm oracle express edition newbie :) i have this stored procedure. it not belong to a package.

now, in the SQL Commands page, how to run the stored procedure and return the records. i do this:

on the procedure to execute a Stored Procedure in Oracle SQL Developer.Select the procedure or package spec in the Connections panel. Right click with the mouse. This will bring up a panel with an anonymous block to run the code and property sheets to populate the parameters, etc.

Creation of DB Adaptert for calling stored procedure in MS SQL server

I need to create a DB adapter to call a stored procedure in MS SQL Server.
I have gone thru the thread MS SQL Server database connection
It mentions that we need to use a command line utility for generating the wsdl and xsd for calling stored procedures in MS SQL server. Please provide information where to find this utility and how to use it.
Any links to tutorials are welcome.

Command line is required for stored procedures, if you are using the basic options you don't need to worry.
(1) Download MS SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver from Microsoft Site. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937724.aspx
(2) The download is self extracting exe file. Extract this into Program Files on your machine. It should create folder as "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver"
(3) In above mentioned folder search for sqljdbc.jar copy this file into JDeveloper\JDBC\lib folder.
(4) Open JDeveloper/jdev/bin/jdev.conf file add following entry.
AddJavaLibPath C:/Program files/Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC/lib
While executing this step make sure that your JDeveloper is closed.
(5) On command prompt go to J Developer folder and execute following command
jdev -verbose
This will open JDeveloper.
(6) Now go to JDeveloper > Connections > Database Connections > New Database Connection
(7) Select Third Party JDBC
(8) Specify MS Sql Server User Name, password and Role.
(9) In connection page specify following
- Driver Class: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
- For class path browse to C:/Program files/Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC/lib folder, select sqljdbc.jar add it as library.
- Specify URL as following.
jdbc:sqlserver://SERVERNAME:1433;databaseName=MSSQLDBNAME;
(10) Go to Test page and test it.

Writing a stored procedure to import SQL Server table data into a Oracle table

As a new DBA I have been tasked with writing a stored procedure to import SQL Server table data into an Oracle table. I have been given many suggestions on how to do it from SQL Server but I I just need to write a stored procedure to run it from the Oracle side. Suggestions/guidance on where to start would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

CREATE TABLE statements would have been better as MS-SQL and Oracle don't have the same data types.
OUR_DATE, OUR_TIME will (most likely) be ONE column in Oracle.

Personally, I'd just load the data over a database link:
insert into oracle_destination_table_name ( <column list> )
select ... <transform data here>
from data_source_table@mssql_db_link
As far as creating the database link from Oracle to MS-SQL ... that is for somebody else to answer.
(most likely you'll need to use an ODBC driver)

Possibility to register Pre-/Post-Procedures for an SQL Template Handler

I would appreciate to see the possibility to register pre-/post-procedures for an SQL template handler in ORDS 3.0.
Why:
We use Oracle VPD/Row-Level-Security to secure data access. Hence a trigger sets a couple of attributes in the database session context at login time which are then used in static RLS predicates to limit which records the user can see/modify.
With ORDS 3.0 all sessions are opened under the same technical user (e.g. APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER), hence all users have the same/no attributes in the session context and could see/modify all data.
To avoid this situation, I need to set the attributes (e.g. the authenticated user) in the database session context before the actual query/plsql handler is executed.
Also, resetting the session context after the handler is executed would be good.
This scenario is in line with scenarios 'One Big Application User' and 'Web-based applications' in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28531/vpd.htm#DBSEG98291.
Different solution approach:
Kris suggested to write a PL/SQL handler where the pre-procedure is called before the business logic procedure/query. This is ok for me as long as I modify data and only need to return no or little data.
As soon as I need to return a lot of data (e.g. select c1, c19, c30 from t1), this approach will force me to write a lot of code in the PL/SQL handler in order to marshal the c1, c19 and c30 to JSON and put it in the HTTP response.
But this is the beauty of ORDS - I can simply define a template, write a GET SQL Handler 'select c1, c19, c30 from t1' and have the data available as REST service, without writing any code to write JSON marshaled data in the HTTP response.

I tried to log the request at Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) but I could only start a new discussion: Possibility to register Pre-/Post-Procedures for an SQL Template Handler
As I mentioned there, the PL/SQL handler approach works for me as long as I have no or only little data to send back to the client (e.g. put/post/delete succeeded or an error message why the call failed).
If I need to return a lot of data from the PL/SQL handler I would need to, as far as I understand, to marshal the data to JSON and write it to the response body in the PL/SQL handler.
I don't want to do the marshaling, because ORDS does it better.
However, this works for me:
I write a pipelined stored procedure that takes as input the attributes I need to set in the session context. I then can reference it in the SQL handler:
select * from table(my_pipelined_function(:USER, ....)
Now the JSON/HTTP response is created by ORDS again.
I still needed to code a couple of lines, but it is way better than duplicating the functionality already existing in ORDS.
With the hooks it would be perfect because I would not have to write any code (apart from the procedure to set the session context attributes), just configure the REST services in ORDS.

Calling stored procedure from embedded sql

I'm trying to call a stored procedure from embedded sql. I'm following the examples located in

I have the following section in my .pco file before precompiling.

Calling Managed CLR Stored Procedure from C++ SQL Server 2008 fails with Msg 2809

I am trying to call a stored procedure from C++ (VS 2010).
Here is what the stored procedure looks like:

I can call my procedure direct in SQL Server Management Studio without any errors

But when I try to call this procedure from C++ using CALL syntax

I get the Error 2809 with SQLSTATE 42000 and with statement
The request for 'ClientTest'
(procedure) failed because 'ClientTest' is a procedure object.
However, if I wrap my CLR stored procedure into a T-SQL stored procedure, like
CREATE PROCEDURE myProc (@res NVARCHAR(40) OUTPUT)
AS
EXEC ClientTest @res OUTPUT
and call then myProc instead of ClientTest
res = SQLExecDirect(sqlstatementhandle, (SQLCHAR*)("{CALL myProc(?) }"), SQL_NTS);
everithing works fine and I get 50 as result.
I have no ideas what is the reason for that behavior.

Can I call stored procedure with PL/SQL?

Oracle newbie question, it is.
Assume a very simple stored procedure like this:
Create or replace procedure aa (
inPar IN number, outPar OUT number)
IS
rrr Number;
Begin
Blah, blah, blah...
rrr := inPar + 100;
Blah, blah, blah...
outPar := rrr;
End;
So the questions are
1) How do I call the above stored proc and pass input parameter values dynamically?
2) How can I retreieve the results of outPar?
I did some research and I learn I can use a programming interface such as Visual Basic or Java. Is that the only way available? I know a small bit about SQL*Plus. f I've tried to enter some PL/SQL commands under SQL*PLUS but I'm stuck. I must have missed something..please.
In MS SQL Server environment I know what I can do. If I want to do the same thing, I just:
Create proc aa ( @inParam int, @outParam int OUTPUT )
as
blah, blah, blah
Set @outParam = @inParam + 1000
return 1
GO
Enter the following statements (via query analyzer) to call the SQL Server Stored procedure and get the result:
