Procedure to Overwrite Existing Reports in Salesforce

I've been looking around and can't seem to find the proper procedure for overwriting existing reports in Salesforce. While we are on that topic, what is the procedure for uploading new reports? What needs to be checked, filled out, clicked?
Whenever I try to overwrite a report, it says there was a database connection error. I have to delete the report and re-upload it.

To add a bit more to what Steve wrote:
While we are on that topic, what is the procedure for uploading new reports?
It depends on the report and it's data source. If you are using an onpremise data source, you would need to have implemented the Open Data Connector on site and then you can set your reports to point to that web service. The other option there is for reports from Excel files that exist in crystalreports.com. There is another forum post on that topic. For Salesforce.com reports, I cover that below.
What needs to be checked, filled out, clicked?
For Salesforce.com, you typically don't need to check anything related to the data source. crystalreports.com will automatically know about the data source. When a user runs the report, it will automatically use their Salesforce.com security token to run the report.
If you want, you are able to "hard-code" the user credentials for the report. To do that, you can check the "Other data source" radio button and then input your user name/password. The password is encrypted and masked. In this case, you want to very careful as to which users have access to that report. Some customers use this to give some access to Salesforce.com data in a report that users might not have access to within Salesforce.com itself.
Do make sure that you do not upload a report with saved data unless you intend users to see that "snapshot" of data. Otherwise, the report does not refresh by default.
Whenever I try to overwrite a report, it says there was a database connection error. I have to delete the report and re-upload it.
I thought I remember seeing something before happening with a report that I was trying to overwrite. It was not consistent so I was not sure if it was just something wrong with my report. What I did to resolve it was to overwrite the report with some .rpt file that did not use a Salesforce.com data source. Then I overwrote it again with the intended Salesforce.com data source report. I believe that reset the connection properly.

  • How can I overwrite existing reports with Publish Wizard?

    Hi,
I uploaded a lot of reports to the Crystal Reports Server 2008 CMS using the Publish Wizard. Now, when I upload changed reports again, the Publish Wizard does not overwrite the existing reports. Instead it renames the new report as "<Name> (2)".
Is there an option ot overwrite the existing report based on the report name, ideally keeping the CID?
    Thanks for information
    Joern

    Hi Jorn,
There is no option to overwrite the destination content, if you want to do that a better tool would be the Import Wizard.
Using the Import Wizard you could specify how you want the imported report being to be treated in instances where it exists also on the Destination system.
    From the Import Wizard Guide:
"...you have two options to identify the object and determine if the object already exists on the destination environment:
    1. Use the source object's unique identifier (CUID).
    2. Use the source object's name and path.
You must decide how you would like the Import Wizard to handle scenarios where the objects already exist on the destination environment."
Please refer to the Import Wizard Guide for the various options available with this tool.

  • How to overwrite existing report using RE SDK?

    Hi,
I want to overwrite the report while saving it in  the folder and personal category.
    How can i do that?
    Please help me?
    Thanks in Advance
    Amol Mali

    Hi Amol,
Did you want to "download" a WebI document in a specific format using the Report Engine SDK?
Basically, you can view the WebI document in a specific format.
Please refer to the following samples on the SDN ([https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/businessobjects-samples]):
    NET-CS2005_RENet_BE115_View_Webi-Excel: [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b08ed111-dd66-2b10-c4b7-9e79a464c93b]

These were created using XI R2 but should also work for XI 3.1.
Also, the samples will display the document (Excel or PDF) on the browser.
You can just modify this to save as instead.
    Hope this helps.

  • RB Overwrites existing report lines

When a page footer is the only thing that will print on the
next page - no more detail exists - instead of printing on the next
page, RB is printing the footer on the same page and overwriting
the text that is already there. Has anyone else experienced this
and is there a work around or setting that will correct?
    Thanks!

I was running into a similar problem last August. I never got
an answer though. Search my old threads for more info. I ended up
just removing the multiple columns cause I couldn't figure it out.
Therefore if your footer is overwriting stuff in the first column,
I might not be able to help out. Just out of curiosity, does the
problem go away when you go to a one column layout? Also, try going
into Report > Group Management > Edit Group and change the
Min. Height for Group Property to 8.5 in. That might push the
footer to the bottom of the page.

  • Overwrite crystal report file name with new version but keep history

I am writing a Crystal Reports .NET SDK in C# code to upload a crystal report files from its destination to CMC folder on BO XI R2 Platform.
On "Upload Button" click_event, validate the two check boxes controls named "Keep History", and "Remove History". Once "Keep History" check box is selected, check If the SAME report file name exists in the same destination CMC folder, if Yes, overwrite it BUT Keep the History and all its associated objects like "recurring objects". If "Remove History" is selected, then remove the existing report and upload the new report file name.
Please provide me some codes on how to do this task. This is definitely a "WIN" - "WIN" effort and contribution to my Team Goals.
P.S. This is a similar scenario when you are uploading report on BO Enterprise R2 CMC.
When Uploading a new report to a folder but same report file name exists, the BO System will promt message "Report File Name" already exists. Do you want to Overwrite it?" If Yes, then system will overwrite the file but it will keep the history and recurring objects.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • How can I replace an existing report?

The way our Enterprise server is setup, we have a folder that we publish all reports to. This folder is proteced from view from anyone but admins.
In order for our users to "see" a report we create a shortcut of the report in their User folder.
This works well, with one exception. When we need to put a new revision of a report out there, we have to recreate all of the existing user shortcuts. There is no way to "replace" an existing report (and inherit its underlying "ID" in the sql database) and have all of the shortcuts use the new report. This is especially painfull when the reports are scheduled to run. All the the scheduling/parameters/etc ahas to be recreated after the new report is publised to the server.
I assuem there is some way to accomplish this with the SDK. I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I am rather new to DOT Net development (about a year), but I have been writing "C" and "C++" code for 20 years, hopefully I can figure this out..
Thanks in advance for any input!

  • How to copy and overwrite existing folder that is created under KM

I have about 500 store folders created in KM and under each of those folders I have a subfolder called Reports.  I had created a new Reports folder that I want to copy to all of the 500 store folders but, when I tried doing it I see it creates another copy of the Reports folders and doesn't overwrite the existing one which I really want it to do.   Is there way to overwrite, rather then manuelly going into each 500 folders, removing the existing Reports folder and then copying over the update Reports folder.

    Hi,
there is no way to overwrite with a "copy". If you need this functionality more often, you could develop your own report.
The existing "copy" report has no overwrite function.
Instead of manually deleting the existing folder, you could use the delete report.
Go to Content Administration > KM Content > Toolbox > Reports > Mass Operations

  • Why not allow Business Rule Design Transformer to overwrite existing BRDDs

    Hi,
It can be quite annoying during development to continually having to remove the BRDD Trigger and PL/SQL Definition when running the BR Design Transformer reveals missing information in the BR Analysis definition. It seems that it would be practical to have at least the option to have the Business Rule Design Transformer overwrite an existing Business Rule Design Definition.
You could think of an additional parameter in this utilily labeled "Overwrite existing BRDD?" with allowable values Y(es) and N(o) with No as default (so that the default functionality is the same as before).
Below you find the code that can be added to the HSU_BRTR package to realize such a functional improvement. Maybe you can consider it for a next release...?!

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

  • Disable "Overwrite existing files" when upload doument

    Dear team,
in document library, when upload document, i don't want the document to overwrite the documents with the same name.
there is chekbox in upload page, that is default checked, I searched and some people said that I can update the upload page, find the checkbox control, and set the value to false, so i update the value in Upload.aspx and Uploadex.aspx page to change the
    value.
but after changing the value, I cannnot open the upload page successfully, it always shows error.
    Did I do anything wrong?

    Hi Greetings.
This is not the right procedure
Scording to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to override SharePoint OOTB Upload.aspx default for " Overwrite existing files" checkbox.
We can use the AdditionalPageHead delegate control to change the default without modifying upload.aspx.
There is an article for your reference, although it is about the WSS3.0, it still works for SharePoint 2013: Turn Default Upload Overwrite Off in WSS 3.0
Please follow the steps as below:
Download the solution file form here
Copy the wps file to the Disk C.
Open the SharePoint 2013 Management Shell.
    Run the command: add-spsolution c:\ DefaultUploadOverwriteOff.wsp
Open the Center Administration, click System Setting->Manage Farm Solution-> dp.sharepoint.workflow.wsp->Deploy to one or more Web Application.
Open the site, clilck Site settings-> Site collection features-> Default Upload Overwrite Off->Active.
Open the library, the 'overwrite existing files' checkbox will be unchecked.

  • Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g

    Hi;
Where can i find the Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g?

This seems to be a common point of confusion. The "FMw Upgrade Assistant" is a utility which helps you to upgrade the entire Application Server installation to a newer version (e.g. 11.1.x). This has nothing to do with your Forms (fmb, mmb, pll, etc) or Reports (rep, rdf, etc) applications. Generally speaking, I would say that using the UA is not necessary and likely should not be used in most cases. Cases where it should be used might include a situation where your previous version has been significantly customized and you don't know how or don't want to make the same customization in the new environment manually. Whether you are talking about a new product (Oracle or not) or even a new OS, generally your best bet is to start with a clean, new installation. Attempting to upgrade an existing version always comes with problems. Just one man's opinion ;-)
As for your Forms application(s), there is a Forms Migration Assistant (FMA), explained in the Forms Upgrade Guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e24478/toc.htm
That said, just like using UA, it is always better to take the extra time and not rely on such tools if they can be avoided. In most cases, the FMA will not be needed. This is especially true if your application is coming from version 10. For older versions, using FMA might be beneficial.
So, to the point, in order to move a Forms application (fmb, mmb, pll) from version 10 to 11 is as simply as recompiling your modules using the v11 compiler. That's it ;-)

  • How to change existing reports of sap with CR

    Hello Professionals,
I need your help on the following matter:
We recently updated one of our costumers from 2007 to SAP B1 version 8.8
So, now we are able to use the Crystal Reports-Viewer for most of existing standard-reports of SAP, such as the report for open invoices and so on.
    To the question:
Our costumer wishes to change the report - instead of information like the installement no. (the costumer doesn't work with payment installements at all) he wishes to have other information, like card code and tel no. within the report.
Now I tried to implement those informations. But I can't, because I don't know how to link the tables concernig primary keys and so on. And where can I find those "PLD-ITEMS"-tables??
Can you help me please and hand over some further "how-to-information"?
    Thanks in advance,
    best regards,
    daniel

    Hi Juli,
The procedure of how to link those table is pretty clear - so theoretically I know how I have to proceed within Crystal Reports in order to get some more - more or less useless - information into an existing report by linking some other tables perjoins into an query.
The Problem is - to connect the ocrd or other tables concerning the business partners to the report I need the possibility of a correct and smart link. I can't think of any for a connection to the ritm-table. Gordon mentioned  that table in a comment before.
    Hi Gordon,
meanwhile I got access to the help-information of the sdk. But how am I supposed to find the right information there? I've been into the section Customization Tools - Database Tables References.
To tell the truth - I got problems understanding those infos and even more important: within the section reports I can't find further information to the open docs-report - is it a 'standard report'?
Greetings and good start into the week tomorrow,
    daniel
