Process consuming huge memory space

Hi
please let me know how to find the process consuming huge memory space

Pradeee

Hi,
Thanks for the reply
when i gave the query i got the following
SQL> select s.sid, s.serial#, p.pid, p.spid, pga_alloc_mem from v$process p, v$session s where pga_alloc_mem > 1024*1024 and p.addr = s.paddr;

  • Internet explorer consuming huge memory when OBIEE reports Run

    Hi all,
    I am running OBIEE report. But when reports run for displaying results, then Internet Explorer consumes huge memory( can view in Task Manager) and so all other application becomes very slow and dont work. I am using XP operating system and 1 GB Ram. OBIEE is installed at Server and i am running report at other system by accessing URL of the server.
    Please tell me the solution so that Internet Explorer does not consume huge memory.

  • DTW consume huge memory

    Hi,
    I have a client update a UDF for 433 items to OITM using DTW.  It consume up to 1.4 GB of memory.
    I remember I have problem at another client before when the SQL DB log file is huge, DTW updates takes ages.
    Does anyone know why DTW consume huge memory?  Has the size of the SQL DB log file anything to o with it?
    Appreciate some clarification.

    Hi,
    In case anyone is interested.
    In our client case, it seems to take up so much memory and then crash.  The first thought is something wrong with the file.
    The solution is: It is best to test with Administrator user.
    Guess what, the problem was user do not have access to the Log file folder.  So, it seems to hang there forever and then crash DTW.

  • CLOB processing consuming large memory in temp tablespace

    We are having a stored procedure, which is called from a Java process to enqeue a message in to AQ. The input for the procedure is CLOB.
    In some installations where oracle standard editions is used, the temp tablespace is growing in large volumes and the only process accessing the temp tablespace is the procedure. Oracle version is 9i 9.2.0.5.0
    We are doing a trim on the clob variable inside the procedure. Will that cause any issues like this ?
    Procedure is as below
    procedure enq_msg
    (queue_name varchar2, msg_text in clob,p_result out number) as
    queue_options DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE_OPTIONS_T;
    message_properties DBMS_AQ.MESSAGE_PROPERTIES_T;
    message_id RAW(16);
    v_msg_text               clob default msg_text;
    v_queue_name          varchar2(40) deafult queue_name;
    BEGIN
    v_msg_text := trim(v_msg_text);
    v_queue_name := queue_name;
    DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE(queue_name => v_queue_name,
                             enqueue_options => queue_options,
                             message_properties => message_properties,
                             payload => v_msg_text,
                             msgid => message_id
         commit;
         p_result := 0;
    exception
    when no_data_found then
    p_result := 1;
         rollback;
    when others then
         rollback;
    p_result := sqlcode;
    END enq_msg;

    Is there a reason you have v_msg_text and v_queue_name defined? You can use queue_name directly in the call to dbms_aq.enqueue and also payload => trim(msg_text)
    This would eliminate the copying of the clob that is currently occurring and may help your space issue.
    Is trim really needed?
    I'm not familiar with any CLOB related bugs in 9i but the above is just some things I would try or question.

  • Arch process using more swap space

    Hi,
    DB : 11.2
    OS : Aix 6
    While taking archive backup by oem,only 9 archive process consuming more swap space.
    The parameter value is LOG_ARCHIVE_MAX_PROCESSES=15 at db level.
    Why only 9 archive process use swap space at os level?
    how to determine all the archive process needed?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Physical memory 120 GB,Swap space 45GB.
    We getting TOP consuming SWAP space PID's from OS team.Then we checked v$session with that PID's.We found that PID's belongs to archive processes.
    Nealry 25 log switch per hour happened.the log file size 8gb,8 groups. Then REDO log files is is way too small by around a factor of SIX
    Increase REDO log file size to 50GB to reduce the number of switches per hour to around 3 0r 4.

  • Memory space using a 32bit Java process on Redhat Linux

    I have a java process that I need a lot of memory for. Its a 32 bit process, and I have no desire to have it as 64bit due to the huge pointers it forces.
    So I know I can turn to Solaris where I will have close to 4GB of memory available for this process (right?). But are there Linux alternatives? I am especially curious regarding Redhat on intel64 machines as I have (which is the common desktop hardware nowadays).
    I heard about the hugemem kernel for Redhat, but I am lost understading its nature. It is said it is not available for v.5 for x86. So is it available for the intel64 processors as I have? And what is the max memory space for a java process?
    Any other bit of information about java 32bit process running on a linux flavor on an intel64 machine will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance!

    I'd say this is normal. There are a few things to consider when looking at an application like this:
    1. The 14 MB your process consumes include the memory required to load the java virtual machine. That is, all the base classes, native links, the just in time compiler etc. 14 MB isn't a lot, all things considered.
    2. When you display a message box, java will load additional classes and resources. They increase the heap size, though not really by 4 MB. Java preallocates portions of memory for the heap. If, for instance, your application consumes 16 MB of memory and you allocate another MB, the heap size may grow to 32 MB. Having a free section of heap space to spare increases performance, since java won't have to ask the underlying system for free memory every you create an object. You might want to check out your program in JVisualVM (deployed with every JDK6), which will tell you how much of the allocated heap size is really in use, or you can rely on the according methods in the Runtime class.
    3. The JVM is capable of 'heap shrinking', meaning it will return allocated sections of memory to the OS once in a while. However, it will not do so unless the heap size is significantly larger than the used portion of the heap (otherwise, it would defeat the purpose of preallocating memory). So if you allocate 2GB of RAM when clicking your button and allow this memory to be cleared by the garbage collector, you'll observe that the heap will shrink again eventually.

  • What's in the JVM Process's Memory Space?

    Hello
    I'm noticing the following behavior on an NT system. On
    application startup, I see
    Total Heap 9 MB
    Used Heap 5.5 MB
    java.exe memory (from NT Task Manager) 36 MB
    After a "login" operation which loads a few more
    classes:
    Total Heap 12.5 MB
    Used Heap 8.2 MB
    java.exe memory (from NT Task Manager) 53 MB
    Heap memory leaks have been ruthlessly suppressed
    (thanks to OptimizeIt and careful programming). The
    behavior I do not understand is that the NT process
    (java.exe) increased in size by 17 MB when the Java
    heap increased by only 3 MB. The .jar file in which the
    application resides is less than 1 MB, so this 14 MB
    growth can not be attributed to new classes being
    loaded.
    Does anyone know what is going into the process
    memory space of java.exe? It tends to grow larger
    and larger.
    Should I even care? Do I want a large allocation of
    process memory for java.exe, or will that hamper
    performance of machines with less physical memory?
    Posts on related topics in this forum have sometimes
    advocated allocating a lot of memory to the JVM with
    -X options.
    Thanks

    Hello
    I am facing exactly the same problem on NT. However, on 2000 Server this problem doesn't seem to exist. Are you, by any chance, using JNI? We are extensively using JNI in our Servlets and found that there is definitely some momory leak there. We could not figure out any substantial leak at Java end. In NT's "Task Manager" java.exe is always listed first and very rarely the memory usage seems to come down. On 2000 Server the performance is far better.

    Can anyone suggest why Oracle consumes 100% Memory? and how do we resolve this?.
    Regards,
    Sabdar Syed.

    Many Unix tools add to each dedicated server process memory the SGA size because under Unix each dedicated server is attaching the SGA shared memory segment to its process address space: so these Unix tools are not so reliable for Oracle.
    To check the Oracle memory usage, it is generally more recommendded to use the V$ views such as V$SGASTAT and V$PGASTAT.

  • Exchange 2013 - The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is rejecting message submissions because the service continues to consume more memory than the configured threshold

    Noticed at about noon that no emails had been received all day. Began to investigate and found that the MS Exchange Transport service had been set to deny email submission because it was using too much memory on the server (91%).
    The error message makes me think that we may have been getting used by malware or something similar.“The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is rejecting message submissions because the service continues to consume more memory than the
    configured threshold.”
    There are also several warning messages that list particular IP addresses and say that a connection from that IP was denied because there were already the maximum number of connections (20).
    From what I can tell, all of the IP addresses are from Taiwan.
    The time period for which some emails may be missing is from close of business yesterday ( 4/3/2014) through about 12:45 today (4/4/2014).
    From the time I spent reading and trying to figure out the error, I think we may need to readjust our throttling policies to prevent this from happening.
    The exchange server is currently running at 90%+ CPU and 50%+ memory usage the majority of the time, and I’m not sure how to fix it.
    Also, I cannot get into EMS I get a access denied message from the destination computer. (Exchange server) I want to get into there to change the throttling policy back to default, since we disabled it.
    The Error reads:
    The WinRM client cannot process the request. The WinRM client tried to use Kerberos authentication mechanism, but the destination computer <Exchange> returned an 'access denied' error. Change the configuration to allow Kerberos authentication
    mechanism to be used or specify one of the authentication mechanism supported by the server. (How do I do this?) To use Kerberos, specify the local computer name as the remote destination. (I'm trying to use EMS while logged into the local Exchange server)
    Also verify that the client computer and the destination computer are joined to a domain. (Exchange is on our domain, and the computer trying to connect is the same computer) To use basic, specify the local computer name as the remote destination, specify
    Basic authentication and provide user mane and password. Possible authentication mechanisms reported by server.

    I assumed control of this exchange system already in place and I do not have much experience with exchange 2013 or server 2012. I do know 2008, but that doesn't help very much in this situation.
    Recent changes to the system:
    About three days ago we switch our sessions policy to allow many more connections, and I believe this caused the issue. This is what I changed it to:
    Made the registry DWORD (32-bit) "Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User" and modified the value to 1000. Location of registry change @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
    I just changed it to 10 from the 1000. I'm hoping this solves this. So far no.
    Also, I am not the best in the shell or command line interfaces. Any help would be wonderful!

    Hi,
    Yes, could be hardware performance issue. Try recycle the Transport process and see if the issue persists.

    can u help me on this.
    thanks & regards

    Hi,
    The internal table what you are using holding huge amount data.
    Then you will get "Low Memory Space" error.
    Thanks,
    Sriram Ponna.

    You cannot. From a legal standpoint, the license agreement for OS X mandates that you run OS X only on Apple hardware. HP is not (yet) owned by Apple.
    From a technical standpoint, your HP laptop doesn't use EFI, but rather an early predecessor called a BIOS. Apple is the only vendor of consumer computer hardware that uses EFI; other vendors reserve EFI for use in servers.
    Secondly, Apple's operating systems support a rather limited number of configurations of video hardware and mainboard chipsets directly since they need only support those systems that they manufacture. You cannot use Windows software or drivers on OS X, so prior to installation, you would need to write your own hardware drivers for your laptop, create an OS X drive image on a Mac, and then modify that image with your drivers before putting it in the HP.
    It will be simpler (and legal), to simply purchase a used Mac. Apple's online store has refurbished MacBook Airs starting at $850 and Mac Minis for $700. If you go to e-bay or craigslist, you'll find used Macs for considerably less.

  • Query - unable to fulfill request for 65536 bytes of memory space

    Hi all,
             When i executing query it is running for 20 mins and showing this below error. Please guide me on this.
    Error:
    - Unable to fulfill request for 65536 bytes of memory space
    - No more storage space available for extending an internal table
    Note:
            Report design based on cube and it have around 60 laks records, aggrated and compression already available for this cube.
    Thanks & Regards,
    R. Saravanan

    Hi raj,
    Are you trying to execute the report in BEx analyzer?
    if data is huge try to reduce the volume of data with the help of filters for ex run the report for particular material, date ,cost center etc.
    If you are using BEx analyzer and with MS office -2003 version then Ms excell has a limitation of 65536 rows, this might be causing the error.
    Looks like your report is having more than 65536 records (selections for which your report was run).
    if you want all the records to be displayed try to use WAD. or use the MS excel 2007 or greater versions(not sure if it can hold all your 60 lack records).
    Regards
    KP

  • Runtime Error: "No memory space available ...."

    Hello I encountered a runtime error in my report program and goes something like this...
    <b>"No memory space available for extending table "I_PRICE"."
    What Happened?
    "You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was not available."
    "The internal table "I_PRICE" could not be enlarged further. To extend the internal table "I_PRICE", 8448 bytes of memory space was needed, but none was available."
    "At this point, the table "I_PRICE" had 53757232 eintries"
    "To facilitate error handling, the internal table "I_PRICE" was deleted"</b>
    I understand that the runtime error has something to do with the lack of memory available to run the report. My question is what exactly is the cause of this? And what would be the best way to alleviate this. Thanks again and good day.

    Srinivas Adavi pointe i the right direction: You should analyze (or debug) how your internal table is filled.
    - check if you append the same record repeatedly
    - check if you really need all of the fields
    Avoid appending records within a loop on that table because the same record might get processed again and again.

    Clemens

  • Unable to fulfil request for 3971508 bytes of memory space in SMQ2 -SYSFAIL

    Hi Experts,
    In Production Server PI SMQ2 transaction, I am getting SYSFAIL Status for a specific Queue Name <XBTO6___0000>. When I am double clicking it is showing "Unable to fulfil request for 3971508 bytes of memory space". I have tried to "Execute LUW" but the status is not changing at all. I have gone to the Message in SXMB_MONI, it is showing "Recorded for Outbound Processing".
    Please advice as it is continously taking more and more Queue Entries.
    Thanks,
    Nabendu.
