Process flows objects in a database schema

Hi,
I want to find in a database schema the objects created by the Oracle Workflow. Is it possible?
For example, when I create and deploy a mapping in OWB, a package is created in the target schema. I can handle it using only SQL.
When I create a package, module and process flow in OWB, is it possible to visualize it in a database schema (for example, owf_mgr)?
Thanks.

Hi
When you deploy a process flow it is transformed into an Oracle Workflow and stored in the workflow schema. There is a design client (Workflow Manager) and monitor tool (Workflow Monitor) for designing/editing workflows and monitoring them at runtime also there are views for viewing the created workflows.
What do you want to do with the deployed workflow? Do you just want some SQL views to see the deployed object or do you want to execute the object 'natively' (like executing the MAIN of the generated PLSQL package?).
Cheers
David

  • Regarding process flows

    Hi All,
I have created many mappings and am trying to create a process flow wherein i execute all the mappings .
when i create the processflow module i provide the schema of the target database .
when i test the connections it tells me to use the processflow schema which i have not created .
my questions is ....do we require a new schema to use the processflow module ??
also ....after creating the processflow module do we need to deploy the processflow ?
    pls let me know....
    thnx
    sunny

You need to install the Process Flow option into your database schema. The installation procedure is on the 10g Companion CD. After you have installed the option you need to run the configuration assistant to create the workflow schema. The script to run this is in the DB_HOME/wf/admin directory.
Next add the Workflow owner as an OWB user using the Repository Assistant. This will ensure you can deploy workflows into this user from Control Center.
Once you have done this you should be able to deploy the workflow to your target database.
    Hope this helps

  • Error during "Process Flow" deployment

    Hello everyone,
I am having trouble deploying my first "Process Flow" object. I am using OWB 9.2 and WF 2.6.2 on Windows XP.
Here is the error I am getting:
RPE-02085: Failed to test wb_rti_workflow_util.initialize through deployed Workflow Database Link DSRD_QA.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_LOADS. Please check that "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege is set and that the OWB Runtime is available.
    - ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object OWBRR.WB_RTI_WORKFLOW_UTIL@DSRD_QA.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_LOADS
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Here is what I have done so far based on what read in different posts on this forum (nothing seems to fix my problem):
o connect to SYS in the TARGET database (where OWF
schema was installed) and ran the following:
GRANT execute any procedure to owf_mgr
o I used "localhost" when I registered the WF object.
Then, as per one post, I changed it to "DNS name".
    Did not help at all.
o Then, I tried to test the DB link (mentioned in the
error Msg above) and it DID NOT work. Then, as per
another post, I removed the part of host name that
    appeared after the ".", i.e, DB.someplace.com to
DB. Then I ran a query using this DBLink and it worked
OK. Then I tried to deploy the WF object, it failed
    with same error as above.
I am hoping someone will help me out on this issue - I have seen several posts with similar error messages and have tried almost all the solutions presented in there - nothing worked for me so far. Here is DB link definition:
    ORIGINAL:
    create public database link DSRD_QA.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_LOADS
connect to OWBRR identified by tiger using '(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CENTENNI-4F4322.CENTENNIALCOLLEGE.CA)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=DSRD_QA)))'
    Changed:
    create public database link DSRD_QA.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_LOADS
connect to OWBRR identified by tiger using '(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CENTENNI-4F4322)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=DSRD_QA)))'
NOTE: HOST was chanegd to just DNS name (part after the "." was removed). Changed DBLink works fine - original one does not.
Thank you all in advance for your time and reponse!

    Hello Jean-Pierre,
I have tried almost what I could but I am still getting following errors when I try to deploy "process flow":
RPE-02085: Failed to test wb_rti_workflow_util.initialize through deployed Workflow Database Link OWB92TRG.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_PKG2. Please check that "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege is set and that the OWB Runtime is available.
    - ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object [email protected]@WB_LK_WF_PKG2
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Most recent thing I tried was to run "catrpc.sql" script on the TARGET database using SYS.
I know you must be a very busy person but I would appreciate if you could try this in your env. Both my SOURCE and TARGET databases are local and I have installed all OWB and OWF repositories in the TARGET database. I have successfully deployed and executed OWB Mappings. Now I am stuck with OWF Process Flow deployment. This would perhaps be the last thing I need to do in order to be able to schedule ETL jobs through OWF.
All your help and time is highly appreciated.

  • Scheduling Mappings and Process Flows

Can you please tell me how to schedule mappings and process flows in a little detail, if any one has done that. I think OEM can be used for this but dont have any clear cut idea of doing it. Can the mappings/process flows be scheduled without using OEM console ?
    Waiting for you suggestions.

    Hi
You can schedule your mapping and process flows with OEM or database job.
You will find script templates in the OWB HOME/owb/rtp/sql directory
    and you can scheldule them.
If you want to do it in OEM use the oem_exec_template.sql file createing an OEM job. Read the OWB documentation about it. If you have any question about it ask it, I have done this procedure many times.

  • Mapping UML Model to Database Schema

    Hi All,
Is it possible to map UML business object model on database schema using Mapping Workbenck? I've done the mapping with imported java classes, but wodering if same could be done with the UML models. I couldn't find any documentation about it either. This feature may be very useful in cases where you want to incorporate TopLink in the design stages of a project.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Sharad,
I agree that incorporating design time practices into this tool might be useful, but is not supported as you described.
From the perspective of application development, I find it useful to first develop the object model in an IDE such as JDeveloper which supports UML (Which will automatically allow you to deploy the .class files of the project). I point my MW project to the output location of my .class files which seems to work great as I can make changes to the object model in the IDE and easily refresh the contents in the MW.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to shedule process flow?

    Hi,
I am able to deploy the process flows to the workflow repository.
Could any one please explain, how to start process flow as sheduled. and manually. I am trying to create a job usin OEM. But I am unable to locate the deployed process flow object in the workflow repository. .
    Thanks and regards
    Gowtham Sen.

From OEM you can use the following to schedule your process flow package.
1, Select the RUN SQL*PLUS Script
    2, "owner" "Process_Flow_Location" "PROCESS" "PF_NAME" "," ","
    3, Then import the OEM_EXEC_TEMPLATE.SQL
4, Check the Overide credential with the Username and Password
This step is working for me. Also if you get an Role error make sure the comment
the following lines in the OEM_EXEC_TEMPLATE.sql
    REM alter session set current_schema = &REPOS_OWNER;
    REM set role wb_r_&REPOS_OWNER, wb_u_&REPOS_OWNER;

  • Problem Running Process Flow When Database Objects Deployed Outside of OWB

    Hi
I am having a few problems running process flows that I'm deploying through OMB.
My set up is as follows:
All database updates are done outside of OWB (for version control purposes).
Each object within OWB is exported to an MDL file, which is then imported into the production repository using an OMB Script.
Once everything has been imported into my production version, I'm then deploying the process flows from within the OMB script.
When I then go to run the process flow, I get the following error ...
RPE-02075: Oracle Workflow failed to process the execution request for Activity LOAD_COUNTRY_PF:LOAD_COUNTRY. This may be because dependent objects have not yet been deployed.
I can see through the Control Center, that the status of all the objects that the process flow is going to use are set to having a Design Status of 'New'. So obviously OWB doesn't realize that these objects already exist in the database, which is why the process flow errors.
Is there any way around this? Can I somehow set the Design Status of all the objects to 'Unchanged' through OMB? Is there a way to fool the process flow into thinking that the objects do exist? Can I run the process flow outside of OWB?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liffey

    Hi Liffey,
Is there any way around this?

Is there a way to fool the process flow into thinking that the objects do exist?of course you must deploy mappings before deploying processflow
and as I know there is no legal method for avoiding this.

I am getting the following error when i am trying to migrate the form to apex using application migration.
"*Database schema SCM does not contain the associated database objects for the project, aafs.*

Actully i am having one schema which i named as SCM, and i have defined one table TT.
I created one form test.fmb in which i used TT table.its compiled successfully.
Then i generated the xml file using frmf2xml from fmb file. After that, I created the project in appication migration wizard in SCM schema.
Project creattion is working fine.but when i m trying to create application,it is showing me above error.
can any one help in solving this problem.

    Hi Hilary,
    Thanks for your response/feedback.
    1. The schema associated with the project does not contain the necessary objects Can you please verify that the schema associated with your Forms conversion project does in fact contain the objects associated with the uploaded files. Could you also verify that the object names referenced in the error message do not exist within the schema associated with your workspace. Ensure that the schema associated with the project contains the necessary database objects before proceeding to the generation phase of the conversion process.
    Ans:
Yes it does contain the objects (See results from SQL query Commands below):
    SELECT MWRA_CONTRACT_NO, OLD_CONTRACT_NO FROM PROJECTS@CONTRACT_LX19.MWRA.NET
    ORDER BY MWRA_CONTRACT_NO
    000000569 551TA

    000108498 500TA
    000108502 503TA
    2. The block being converted contains buttons, which may have been incorrectly identified as database columns, and included in the original or enhanced query associated with your block This is a known issue ,bug 9827853, and a fix will be available in our upcoming 4.0.1 patch release. Some possible solutions to this issue are:
-> delete the buttons before generating the XML
-> delete the button tags from the XML
-> add "DatabaseItem=No" for the button in the XML file before importing it in Apex. The button is excluded when creating the Application.
    Ans
yes it does contain push buttons to transfer to another forms and these are defined as Non data base items. Parial XML code provided below:

  • OWB-OWF - Process Flow Deployment - Database Link

    Hello there,
This post is basically related to my problem with Process Flow deployment.
Could someone please shed some light on the following:
When we create a Process Flow, during this process OWF creates a Database Link. For some reason, this link is not functional unless I remove the part after "." in that defines the "HOST" in the DB Link definition. How do I know it is not functional - I know because following query does not work:
    select * from [email protected]@WB_LK_WF_PKG
    Here is the link definition:
    ORIGINAL:
    create database link OWB92TRG.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_PKG
    connect to RR
    identified by "<pwd>"
    using '(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CENTENNI-2077E4.CENTENNIALCOLLEGE.CA)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=OWB92TRG)))'
MODIFIED (it works - above query runs OK):
    create database link OWB92TRG.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_PKG
    connect to RR
    identified by "<pwd>"
    using '(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CENTENNI-2077E4)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=OWB92TRG)))'
My second question is "using what userid/pwd should this link should have been created? Should it use "Runtime Repository Owner" or "OWB Repository Owner" or "Runtime Access User" or "OWF_MGR"?
No matter what userid I use, it works when I run the query but I always get following error when I try to deploy the "Process Flows" in OWB:
RPE-02085: Failed to test wb_rti_workflow_util.initialize through deployed Workflow Database Link OWB92TRG.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_WF_PKG2. Please check that "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege is set and that the OWB Runtime is available.
    - ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object [email protected]@WB_LK_WF_PKG2
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
I have already granted the "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" to OWF_MGR. I am not sure, though, what is meant by the "and that the OWB Runtime is available" part of the error message above.
I have also tried to fix this by running the "catrpc.sql" script but it did not help either.
I am stuck on this step for past few days. I would highly appreciate help in fixing this problem. Here is the configuration I am using:
o Source database : Oracle 9i (9.2) on my local PC
o Target database : Oracle 9i (9.2) on my local PC
    o OWB 9i
    o OWF 2.6.2
o OWB and OWF repositories are on the TARGET database
I am able to successfully deploy and run my MAPPINGs.
    TIA,
    Amer

    Hello Oracle support,
Should I open a TAR to get this problem resolved?

    Amer

  • Running of process flow does not show any Active session in Database

    Hi Team,
I am running a process flow in OWB 11g ( From Design Center ) which is having around 100 maps within it. However, from Control Center I can see the Process Flow is running ( i.e. Green check is visible beside the process flow) but when I run SQL query in backend database ; I am unable to see any running object ( i.e. OWB map name as package object) there corresponding to this Process Flow
I am running the below query to check the availability of running session :-
    SELECT A.LOGON_TIME,A.SID,B.OBJECT_NAME,A.*
    FROM gv$session A, dba_objects B
    WHERE A.PLSQL_ENTRY_OBJECT_ID = B.OBJECT_ID
    AND A.STATUS = 'ACTIVE'
Could you please suggest if this is something wrong in the development of the Process Flow or we can`t see any running map there in backend when we execute any process flow from OWB ?
    Thanks in advance
    Nilava Sen

    Try below query
    select sid,module,program,status,sql_id from gv$session where status='ACTIVE';
    select * from gv$access;

  • Calling pl/sql package on different database in process flow

    Hi there
Have a process flow which calls procedure on different database. This procedure truncates a table on the remote database.
Please could somebody confirm we would need to set up dblinks from the owf_mgr schema to the remote database.
New to wokflow - am i Correct in assuming the process flows run on the owf_mgr
rather than the control center owbrt.
    Many Thanks

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the reply.
If my understanding is correct I could have a procedure as follows.
    hkeeping.trunc_table@dblinkname('TABLE_NAME');
    Is this the case?
Another alternative was to call directly the transformation in the process flow
e.g. we have pl/sql package on remote database whioch truncates the remote table.
When we try this with same procedure on same databas as owb user exists on then works fine.
However on remote database get message below. Does this mean anything to you? How could we sort this?

  • Oracle 10G Database Control and Scheduling OWB Process Flow

Does anyone know how to go about scheduling an OWB Process Flow from
Oracle 10G Data Base Control. I knew how to do this with Oracle Enterprise Manager 9.2 but we recently upgraded to Oracle Db 10G and the interface has changed significantly.
Now the interface seems to require a PL/SQL stored procedure to be executed.
Is there a template procedure that is installed with 10G Data Base Control as there was for 9.2 i.e. oem_exec_template.sql?
    Thanks! Deadline approaching fast...
    Marion

I've used the oem_exec_template.sql successfully with OWB 10.1 and Oracle 10G Database Control, with a little trial and error at first.
I'm assuming that your job execution environment is set up correctly, ie. that you can properly execute jobs via the host agent.
    1. Log on to Database Control as SYSTEM, select Jobs from the links at the bottom of the page
    2. In the Results section, Create Job, select "SQL Script" and press Go
    3. In the General section, enter Job Name, and as SQL Script enter e.g.:
    @/u01/app/oracle/owb_oracle_home/owb/rtp/sql/oem_exec_template.sql owb_runtime WF_LOC PROCESS MY_PROCESS , ,
    4. In the Databases section, add your target database
    5. In the Credentials section, I select "Override Preferred Credentials" and use the agent account (oracle on my Linux system) and db user owb_access (OWB Runtime Access user)
    6. Review Schedule tab and submit
    Comments on step 3:
    - the oem_exec_template.sql script must be installed according to the path specified in step 3, on the database host where the OWB Runtime Repository is located
    - owb_runtime is the owner of my OWB Runtime Repository
    - WF_LOC is the name of my Workflow Location as seen in OWB Deployment Manager
    - MY_PROCESS is the name of a deployed Workflow Process
    - the commas indicate that I don't supply any system or custom parameters.
    - step 3 is actually a shell command line that is interpreted by eg. /bin/sh on Unix or cmd on Windows, and must obey proper quoting rules. On windows, I had to specify the empty commas as "\," (including dblquotes)

Could anyone please help me to fix this?

The issue was resolved by renaming the workflow. What is learned here is, we should not have same workflow name for two different workspace.

  • Run process flow over database link

    Hi guys,
I have two projects here, A and B. Each project has its own process flow, lets say Process A (in project A)and process B(in project B). I need to run process B in process A, so I use the database link, and WB_RT_API_EXEC.run_task function. But when I run the process, I get the following error:

    Hi Gowtham,
I am using the following function to send execution details of the process-flow. This process-flow is having 20 mappings. This is working fine.
The cIient requirment is to pass email-IDs from a back-end table(sam_mail_notification) with columns(smtp, from_address and to_address), right now the function is working on static(constant) values.
