Producing A JMS message using OSB

Hi all,
I have a use case where I'm querying salesforce and the response which I get back should be produced as a message in JMS queue. Any thoughts?

you could create a proxy service which will route to the saleforce service, response is coming back in $body.
you create a new business service jms transport and endpoint to the queue you defined, and in the response pipeline you publish to this business service with $body input (or part of the $body, depends on the format of the message you want to publish, or you first transform it with an xquery and the publish it)

    Hi,
    Is it possible to read message from the JMS queue using OSB based on the request invocation. I know messages can be read from the queue but it will be polling based.
    The requirement is to have an OSB proxy service (HTTP service ) an an interface to the client application. Client application invokes the proxy service and the proxy service need to read message from the JMS queue and provide the message as response to the client.
    Let me know if there are any pointers.

    I spent some time trying to do this and apart from creating custom database tables etc. I was not able to achieve this.
    We wanted to use in memory JMS queues in our situation.
    In the end we developed a Java Web Service which preformed the on-demand read from the queue (using a particular message selector)
    This is working for us without a problem

  • How to do service callout with the incoming JMS message in OSB 11g

    I have a specific requirement for which I am creating a kind of POC where I need some help in OSB, however am new to OSB.
    My Environment:
    1> I have a request queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFReq_WS
    2> I have a response queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFRes_WS
    3> I have created a ProxyService (request/response type) in OSB 11g which is simply mapping the incoming message in WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS
    4> I have a WebService (it is currently a simple hello WebService for testing) which takes a string and returns the same string with an added 'Hi' in front of it (e.g. If you send Jack, it will return 'Hi Jack')
    My Requirement:
    1> I have to do some mechanism in OSB, by which while mapping the message from WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS (through the proxy service I have), it will pick the JMS message (which will be a string/text) and will make a service callout to the Webservice I mentioned using the message as the input parameter of the WebService.
    2>Now when the response of the WebService will come, OSB should send this response as the message in the response queue (WFRes_WS) I mentioned above.
    To simplify the requirement using an example:
    A> I will send a text/String message (say Jack) to the request queue (WFReq_WS)
    B> OSB should pick the message (Jack) and make a service callout to the webservice
    C> webservice will return 'Hi Jack'
    D> OSB should send this to the response queue (WFRes_WS)
    I know the above might look very basic question to the PROs, but please elaborate (step by step) what need to be done, since I do not know OSB.

    Your example points A and D are easily done by having a "Proxy Service" which has the following details:
    Service Type = Messaging Service
    Request and Response type = Text
    Protocol = jms
    Endpoint URI = your request queue (format like 'jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueJNDIName')
    Checkmark "response" so that the proxy service automatically delivers the response to another queue - your response queue
    Response URI = jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueResponse
    Now since your "Hello" webservice is (probably) a SOAP xml service you need to "convert" your text based JMS message to xml before sending it on to the "Hello" service.
    Your JMS proxy can do that by just doing a "Assign <whom>{$body/text()}</whom>" to a variable (lets call it 'reqHello')
    Now your JMS proxy should actually call the Hello service and since your JMS proxy is text and the Hello service is SOAP you cannot just "pass" on to the Hello service in a "Route to". Instead you can do a Service Callout where you can specify your "reqHello" variable as payload and a "respHello" as response variable.
    Now you have the "<whom>Hi jack</whom>" in the response variable and since the JMS response needs to be text format you can "extract" the text value into the body variable of the JMS proxy (use "replace /* in body with $respHello/text()" - replace node contents)
    The actual Hello service is a simple "SOAP" based Proxy Service. Add a pipeline and add a stage in the reponse pipeline. Do a ...

    Replace whom in body with $whomVar (replace node contents)

  • Weblogic Message Bridge Producing Duplicate JMS Messages

    We have a message bridge that we use to integrate with TIBCO. The message bridge is deployed on a WL cluster. We see duplicate JMS messages produced by the bridge when it is deployed on the cluster. We don't see this behavior when only one ManagedServer in the cluster is active,.
    TIBCO version: 4.4.3 V5
    WLS: 10.3.3 with patch for bug BUG8732539 (BQC6)

    Oracle JRockit(R) (build R28.0.0-679-130297-1.6.0_17-20100312-2121-linux-x86_64, compiled mode)
    We are also seeing a lot of exceptions related to

    However the bridge is active. We are monitoring the message-out count on TIBCO and we observed that we see duplicates whenever there a message is re-delivered. We opened a case with Oracle support and they suggested patch 10258751 which didn't help. The next suggestion was a patch for "Bug 11852771 - [WLS10.3.2]MISSING AND DUPLICATE IN JMS QUEUE MESSAGE MONITORING" but I don't think it will help since our JMS consumers are getting duplicate messages and this is not just a UI issue.

    @Tom, thanks for your hints and sorry for my delayed response. Here are my answers to your queries…
    -- Does messaging work, without any exceptions, when only one bridge is active?
    It works fine when only one node of the cluster is active. -- I'm not familiar with Tibco monitoring, but I suspect that the "message-out count on TIBCO" stat doesn't always imply that there's a duplicate message. It could mean that an initial message delivery attempt failed, it's transaction rolled back, and the message was redelivered. Redelivery after a failure is normal - the original delivered message, if one actually made it onto a WebLogic queue, should be discarded by WebLogic when its failed transaction eventually rolls back (before its ever handed to a consumer application).
    You are absolutely right. The mismatch in count was due to redelivery attempts. We could see that as soon as we turned on trace in TIBCO-- The posted stack traces look like they may be JVM stdout/stderr scrapes, which are often automatically truncated, for example, see the "... 8 more" listed at the bottom of one of the stack traces below. There might be more information in the full stack trace for the "Resource manager is unavailable" exception. Full traces are logged in each WebLogic Server's log files.
    I tried redirecting the output and even set "stdout Stack Trace Depth:" to -1 but I am not albe to see the complete trace.-- The setTransactionTimeout NullPointerException error message looks like it is collateral damage from the original reported "Resource manager is unavailable" exception that's thrown earlier during the enlistResource() step. If you are truly getting duplicates, then I think this is a clue that the bridge is somehow (stupidly) trying to proceed with forwarding the message despite the fact that there's no current transaction on the thread...

    I have a case open with Oracle support and we have extensive debugging turned on. Here is what the engineer came back with. There is an issue with XA transactions in JCA adapter when it talks to third party providers like TIBCO. Since the resource names are not unique across the cluster, a XA transaction is started on multiple nodes in the cluster for the same message. All transactions abort but the message is persisted and TIBCO redelivers the message since the connection is severed when the transaction aborts. We were able to reproduce this scenario at will with our setup and Oracle was able to reproduce the issue too. 
-- Can you check the state of the message on the WebLogic Q? The fact that a message is shown on the WL console doesn't necessarily mean that the state of the message is visible (it could be waiting for the transaction to commit - something that apparently never happens). On the console: Services -> Messaging -> JMS Modules -> [module name] -> [destination name].

    Our consumer was getting duplicate messages. This confirms that the console was not giving us incorrect information. The console showed that 2/3/4 messages were in "current" state when we expected only one message.
-- Make sure that the bridge's Tibco destination is a Tibco queue not a Tibco topic (it's happened).

    Yeah we made sure it was a Queue.
-- Can you post your bridge and destination stanzas from your config.xml? 

    Will try to do this shortly but have to strip out lot of information.
-- I vaguely recall that there was a problem with untyped connection factories in Tibco at one point (not sure). You might want to try changing the Tibco configuration to spin-up "XA Queue Connection Factory" instead of just an "XA Connection Factory" (plus modify the bridge configuration accordingly).

    We tried this but it didn't eliminate this issue. One thing we did notice however was that the number of rollbacks were greatly reduced.

    Here is the workaround that Oracle is suggesting: Create pinned destinations and assign it to a distributed queue. This will keep the transactions local and hence eliminate the duplicate transactions and rollback. We tried it and it eliminated the dups issue. However I discovered another bug during my testing. Our cluster messaging mode is "Unicast" and message forwarding from zero consumer queues to queues with consumers fails. We have four/five nodes in the cluster and two consumer threads. I observed that the zero consumer queues always forward to one queue in the cluster that has consumers. The forwarding stalls when I bring down the node that has consumers. Again, we were able to reproduce this issue at will and Oracle has acknowledged that it is a bug. They've reported that Unicast fails without any warning whereas Multicast fails with a warning in the log. We have observed this message forwarding stalling even with UDQs.
    I have another case open for an issue where our message bridges that transfer messages from TIBCO to WLS stalls after sometime. The status is shown as active but it is not doing anything. The server instance shows stuck threads trying to roll back a message. TIBCO logs indicate that it is receiving a request to rollback a transaction but it is not finding the transaction to rollback. The only way to recover from this condition is to restart the cluster. I am fairly confident that he root case for this issue is again the XA transaction issue. I changed our UDQ to pinned destination in one environment and we are no longer seeing dups or bridge stalling there. Hopefully Oracle can resolve the message forwarding issue.Thanks again….

  • JMS/AQ: Setting properties for JMS message using PL/SQL

    I have created a procedure in PL/SQL that uses JMS messages, and now I need to include a property so that the subscriber can use a message selector to filter out unwanted messages. Is this possible using PL/SQL?
    A previous post said: "... But you can have properties in the message payload itself and also define selectors on the message content ...". But I looked at Sun's tutorial and there it said: "A message selector cannot select messages on the basis of the content of the message body."
    I have 300 different screens and messages apply only to one screen at a time. When the user is looking at screen 'A' I want him to only recieve messages that apply to screen 'A'. I thought I would do this with message selector, but is there any other way?

    Thanks for the answer. I managed to set the Correlation id and retrieve it using getJMSCorrelationID(). But I did not manage to use the MessageSelector on it. I have used the Topicbrowser which is not part of the JMS standard? I tried to enqueue the messages using Java too and tried to use the topicbrowser on both JMSCorrelationID and user defined properties withou success. Is there some special requirements of the TopicBrowser?

    Requirement
    I want to browse for messages, using a selector.
    SENDER
    I'm sending messages in my Queue, with a property PARAMETER_ID set in it as.

    So here's what I'll do.

    The QueueBrowser instance returned, should have 2 messages in it, that can be browsed.
    But I dont get any results and there's no exception.

  • PeerGoneException sending large JMS messages using T3.

    Hello,
              I'm using WL 7.0 SP4 on the backend. I have clients that send JMS messages to this WL server using T3. Some of the messages are ~1MB in size, and sometimes the clients use dial-up connections with a maximum speed of 54 Kbps. (Yes, I know we are living in the dark ages...)
              Anyway, sometimes the WL server throws a PeerGoneException. I realize this is because the CompleteT3MessageTimeout has expired. I have already set it to the maximum of 480 seconds, but sometimes that's not enough. Is there a way to disable this timeout or set it to be infinite?
              Does anyone have any suggestions?

              range of 480 seconds.
              you will never be able to get more then 480 seconds. (And yes, there
              only existe the T3MessageTimout, which should be fine to my point of view.
              Another point might be the jta transaction timeout server-side.

    Hi Forum, So far I have not been able to find any useful information hence the question:
    1. Is OSB an implementation of JMS?
    2. To use JMS with OSB do I need to install separate JMS? If not does JMS install by itself when installing OSB?

    JMS (Java Messaging Service) is a transport protocol (like File, FTP, email, HTTP etc.) which is supported by OSB (Oracle Service Bus - which is a service bus product used for transport protocol mediation).

  • How to poll for a message using OSB ?

    Hi,
    I have created a queue in weblogic JMS . I have a Java client to push messages to that queue. I want my OSB to act like a listener and pick up the messgaes from that weblogic queue . I already have messages being pushed into the queue . How do i configure my OSB to pick up those messages ? Should i have to configure it through Proxy service or business service ? Once my OSB reads those messages , how do i know that proxy has picked those messages?
    Could you please explain it with screen shots if possible ?

    in this blog i pretty much did the same.
    only in my case the testframework stores the messages on the queue.
    but the proxy service enqueues them from the queue and the business services stores them on the filesystem.
    proxyservices are used for the input/start of your process and the business service is used to 'request/trigger/invoke' other processes.
    i hope this is a bit clear definition to know the difference between both.
    if you want to check wether or not the message is retrieved from the queue, you can login in the console of weblogic to see if the message is still in the queue, if not, some processes (in your case the proxy service enqueued it). In your proxy service you can add logging to see the message went through the osb service and eventually you could for example check the file system if the file is stored there (but this depends on what functionality your business service has. In my case it's a file business service, so it stores all messages on the file system.

    Hi,
    I have created jms server, modules, queue from console-messaging-jms modules.
    I am trying to create a soa composite to consume message from this queue.
    In JMS adapter wizard - step 7 - i have selected the destination queue. In this step, what should be the jndi name?
    do i need to update weblogic-ra.xml file?
    Can someone please point me to the steps/doc to create jms adapter to consume message from Oracle Weblogic JMS? (basically configure deployment descriptor)

    By passing username/password in the outbound connection pool, i was able to connect to the secured weblogic jms..

    After making the change ( remember to hit enter after modifying password and username fields, else change wont persist) , i saved it with a new deployment plan and updated the deployment with the new plan. Then redeployed the composite containing the jms adapter and I am able to see a consumer created for the queue.

  • I am unable to send JMS message to application which resides in third party

    I am able to produce the Message into JMS demoQueue which is available in SOA 10.1.3.3. And also I tried remote server which is available in my office it having the application SchoolMAX with JMS Configuration. So I need to produce the JMS message into SchoolMAX application. But I am unable to pass to the data’s to that SchoolMAX JMS.
    for this I have configured the respective queues, queue factory etc in Enterprise Manager , but i am not able to access our application which is in remote server through third party in JDeveloper for BPEL Process.
    please i am very new to this JDeveloper & BPEL Console , please help me out in resolving the issue ASAP. please we will be waiting for some reply.

  • Send HTML email using OSB email transport

    Hi all
    The client we are working for has a specific email template (HTML based) in which emails need to be send. I have tried using the HTML tags to frame this email string, but when I open the email in outlook, I can see the tags as it is. Tags like <p> <br> are not recognised as HTML rather taken as normal strings.

    Thanks again! You are a life savior. Actually i did check the blog, but the author was modifying http headers in the blog using $outbound variable directly using xpath. So, i just wanted to clarify, if using transport headers for outbound request for email protocol would do the job.
    I will check and post back the results. I am currently struggling with OSB and Log4j java callout. I am getting weird logs from OSB server in my interface specific log.

    I am new to OSM and working on a POC for the implementation of OSM in our company. We have WebSphere MQ for messaging and want to use same for OSM implementation. We don't want to create bridges, foreign server etc configuration in weblogic, rather just connect with MQ objects over JNDI (as supported) from OSM automated task. Having said that, we have following two scenarios:
    1- JMS message is received at OSM
    2- JMS message initiated from OSM (automated task)
    Now our requirement is to create a sort of JMS inbound gateway for first scenario i.e. reading a message from a Queue and CreateOrder and then reply back to caller using JMSReplyTo header.
    Second as JNDI support is available for automated task, can we send JMS message using direct JNDI look up for MQ JNDI objects i.e. using .bindings file (JNDI URL for MQ objects).
