Profile Caching ?'s

Hello all. Here are some details on our config. Please let me know if you need additional details.
- We have Portal 6.0 installed with the platform and LDAP on epartate servers.
- We are configured to use the JSP templates as opposed to the html templates.
- We are currently using the default LDAP authentication to login.
- All of our channels are custom JSP->beans.
- We have one organization .. isp-thehartford.com and all of our roles reside under that org.
- Max. session time: 120
- Max. idle time: 30
- Max. caching time: 60
Question: Sometimes building the profile/displaying the desktop is fast and other times it is very slow. Is there some kind of profile/desktop caching that is happening other then the Max. caching time? If I log into the portal, log out, close my browser, then log back in shortly there after, my desktop builds very quickly. If I log into the portal, log out, close my browser, then log back in after 10 minutes, my desktop takes about 20 seconds to build. What is being cached in the first instance that makes it come up so quickly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Portal 6.0 architecture is different from 3.0, there is no more concept of profile server or platform server anymore. The core services are provided by Identity Server and Desktop piece is provided by the portal.
There are two potential reasons why the desktop could be slow
1.) if the jsp's were not compiled then the first time you login it would have to compile all the jsp's and hence would be slow.
2.) Depends upon the display profile configuration and the number of roles a particular users belongs. If a user belongs to multiple roles and there is a lot of merging to be done then it would be comparatively slower.
Are you going through any proxies if so that would potentially have it effect on the desktop.

  • Profile caching in Oracle EBS

    Hi All,
I have some questions regarding profile caching in Oracle EBS.
We have exposed some pl/sql APIs through Web Services hosted on Oracle iAS servers.
In those APIs we are fetching value of a profile using fnd_profile.value API which uses a cached value.
The issue is when we are changing profile value from EBS, and when we execute web services, it still fetches the old cached value of profile .
We are updating profile value through fnd_profile.save API on EBS which updates the cache also. Is it happening due to client profile cache on iAS servers connection pool. Please advise.
How can this be rectified ?
    Thanks,
    Harsh

  • OS X Firefox profiles cache filling up since 18 June, today one of these files appears on desktop at startup and has become login item - what's going on?

E.g. In /Users/MYNAME/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/4h26zusu.default/Cache/3/A3 there are many small files created over last 2 weeks (similarly in all other cache slots). But this file A013Bd01, which is a small picture, appeared in my login items and, on startup this morning (1 July) was open on the desktop in TextEdit - appearing as gobbledygook text. Why so many cache entries over last two weeks - is this a Fx 5.0 glitch?

  • No Camera Profiles as Choice in Calibration Section of Develop

I have Lightroom 2.6 installed on my desktop computer as well as on my laptop.  Both are running Win7 64-bit.  The Adobe Standard and Camera Standard Profiles are not showing up as choices in the camera calibration panel on my desktop computer, but they are showing on my laptop for the same images.  I can see the profiles for my Pentax K20D in C:\Program Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles, but they are not a choice in the calibration dropdown.  I only see ACR 4.4.  On my laptop, all three are available as choices.
The only other difference between the installations is that I had the Lightroom 2.5 and CS4 demos installed on the desktop before I settled on Lightroom.  By the time I purchased Lightroom, 2.6 was out so I installed that over the 2.5 demo and just added my product key.  Lightroom 2.6 was installed on the laptop straight away.
I don't see any configuration option for anything related to camera profiles and putting the profiles in C:\Users\Myuser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles doesn't do anything.  I also saw somewhere on the net to delete the index.dat file from that directory and restart Lightroom so the profile cache rebuilds, but this had no effect for me.
I'm stumped.  Can anybody shed some light on this for me?  Maybe some obscure registry entry somewhere?

You might try downloading and running the Camera Profiles update program for ACR and see if it does something to make the profiles visible.
This is available if you go to
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
and then ACR 5.6, then the link near the top that leads to the manual update for Photoshop Elements...which is a ZIP that contains the profiles installer executable along with a 32-bit and 64-bit version of the ACR plugin.

  • I clicked on an HD video on facebook and I know it was saved into my cache. I can find SD videos in my cache but why can't I find the HD video?

I can't find and HD video that should be in my cache. I know it should be there because I watched it on Facebook. Are larger files stored somewhere else, outside of the Mozilla Profile cache?
When I'm looking for something in my cache there are so many files. Isn't there a way I can change that cache so I don't have to click on a hundred different folders with only one image in each?

You can do a search on the about:cache page for that file.

  • After a crash, I reinstalled FF, but it looks different. Bookmarks button will not stay on the screen. Thus, I cannot get to the Library, or Restore. I need to restore Bookmarks from external hard drive. I found backups but how does Firefox find them?

I have found 2 versions of my old bookmarks in my backed up data. One is under Owner/AppData/Local.../bookmarkbackup/bookmarks-2011-10-13 , etc. The other is under Firefox Profile/Cache/E7C5F7B4d01. I don't find these places in the new Firefox program just installed.

Have you tried to drag the folder that contains your music files. Locate the folder, while iTunes is open, drag the folder to the Library icon, this may help.

It's hard to tell, but my thought is that maybe the driver is not consistent with the database version of DB2 that you are using.
Be sure that the driver is the correct version for the database to which you are attempting to connect.

The exceptions indicate that there is profile service errors which could have happend when it was trying to fetch those attributes.
What version of portal are you using ?, are you running a multi server instance ?, if so there is a possibility that the profile cache could be out of sync between the two instances. Generally making profile changes would necessitate the need to logout and log back and only when you change ldap auth information or property file changes you would need to make server restarts ..

  • 802.1x and windows 2003 server

we have a ACS 4.1 install with 5 acs servers, 25 remote switches and over 800 xp users all doing certificate based machine authentication that work perfectly fine. We are also using a guest vlan in our sites to auth fail a guest user onto the guest vlan so they can get internet access. We had to reduce the dot1x timers so dot1x would fail(45 sec) before windows DHCP fails(approx 55 sec) This has worked fine for the last year with all of our xp machines. We put in a new 4510 into our main building last week for user access and we are running into a issue with developer boxes that are running 2003 server or 2003 x64. What happens is that the when they reboot, the authentication process takes too long and they auth fail and get put into the auth fail vlan. They then get authenticated 20 sec later and they are authenticated in the guest vlan and remain stuck there until I bounce the port. I have a TAC case opened just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this or could duplicate. Very weird and specific to 2003 server 2003 server x64 with Broadcom drivers. Thanks in advance.

This is actually only on the reboot. One interesting thing is that some people have dynamic vlans, and they auth-fail, get put into the guest vlan, then authenticate, get put into the correct vlan and are fine. Even unplugging/replugging doesn't seem to do it which it really should as the authentication proccess should start over. Also in their infinite wisdom, security has disabled windows profile caching so a user cannot log onto the box without domain connectivity so they can't disable/re-enable. By reducing the dot1x timeout from 90 seconds to 45 to fix the windows DHCP issue we probably caused this one. Again it seems specific to the newer Dell workstations with newer broadcom drivers.

  • OAM - Authorization based on the authentication method

We are using OAM 10g for a customer to protect a large number of web application. In order to access those applications a user can chose from several authentication methods (e.g. client certificate, SecureId and mobile TAN). All applications use the same cookie domain and OAM provides SSO to the user. The customer now wants to define access rules for each of the applications based on the chosen authentication method.
In other words, he wants to have the flexibility to define rules such as the following:
Application A: Only accessible with client certificates
Application B: Only accessible with mobile TAN
Application D: Only accessible with SecureId or mobile TAN
Application E: Accessible with any authentication method
In order to implement this with OAM we would have assign each authentication method a different authentication level and define authorization rules that depend on those authentication levels (maybe using a custom authorization plug-in). According to the OAM documentation it doesn't seem possible to reference the authentication level in a authorization rule.
Does anyone know a way to implement these requirements.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Donat

This is how I think we can do this.
Write Authentication plug-in which adds which authentication scheme was used to login to the application in one of the multivalued attribute in OID. Write Authorization plug-in also which checks this value and makes authentication decision.
One more approach is, Create as many attributes in OID as number of authentication schemes you have. Each of them is a flag representing whether user is logged in with the authentication scheme or not. When user authenticates using an authentication scheme, turn on that flag. Also flush access server user profiles cache. In the authorization rule, use this flag to make authorization decisions. Using this approach, you do not have to write authorization plugin but this may not be scalable approach as you might have to create a new attribute in OID when new authentication scheme is added.
You can also keep this information somewhere in database or flat file and use that information in authentication and authorization plugin.
I hope one of this solutions will help you.
    Thanks

  • XI system copy

    Hello,
I'm going to clone my xi. As I'm reading the homogeneous and heterogenous system copy for java and abap. I'm to the following conclusion. I need to do a oracle server specific copy. And do a sid rename on db level and in abap side with se06.
but what about the java part? and what about the xi msg's that are in the systems and the adapters? Should i disable some adapters? and so on.
In the java system copy there are some configur ation steps for xi. telling about sld integration server, exchange profile,cache,... but they are not telling about the msg's that still are in the system.
What are the steps that I'm missing?
    Chris

    hi
If XI is running ong NW4S then you can use standard system copy guide for ABAP+Java.
I dont know how many interfaces you have configured in your XI box, I also requested to make a copy of XI box.
Easy way is for XI 3.0
    1. Install XI 3.0 with different SID & apply all the SPs & Kernel patch as source.
    2. Create new business systems with target group
    2. Synchronize SLD using full export/import
    3. Export the Software components from Source & import to target
    4. export the Configuration Scenario & import to target.
This activity would take 24 working Hrs to build but its easy & consistent way to build a copy of existing system (This is my experience).
    Best luck

Backups are always the bet way to go about this rather than doing a /P.
Since you did a defrag of the database, that accounts for the Outlook cached mode client seeing a new GUID.  That is why it will not connect to the old DB.

  • System copy XI

    Hello,
I'm going to clone my xi.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    you should use the Installation Master DVD to perform the System copy, There are 2 options to do the system copy;
    1) Export preparation
Description Optional step for preparing the export of a SAP NetWeaver 2004s Support Release 1 system. The export preparations are required, if: you want to build up the target system up to the point where the database load starts, before the export of the source system has finished export and import processes should run in parallel during the system copy process Export Preparations The following steps will be performed:
Creating the export directory structure with label files and source system information
Creating database structure files (.STR) Updating database statistics (depending on the database platform and the selected dialog option)  Size calculation for the target database (.EXT, DBSIZE.XML)
    2) Database and Central Instance Export
Description First mandatory step of a system copy procedure. The following steps will be performed: Creating the export directory structure with label files and source system information (if required) Creating database structure files (.STR) for ABAP database objects Updating database statistics (depending on the database platform and the selected dialog option) Size calculation for the target database (.EXT, DBSIZE.XML)
Exporting the ABAP and / or Java database content Archiving the SDM
Archiving application specific file system content

  • Redirected Printer is not working

    Hello all,
We have a Windows Server 2012 R2 terminal server. We have set up two Lenovo thin clients to remote access this terminal server. The problem is that the redirected printer is not working on one of the thin client but works on the other one. I have made the
same settings on both of the thin clients.
The difference between these two thin clients is like following.
    1. Printer: The one that is working is Canon printer and the one that is not working is HP printer.
    2. They use different ISPs.
All other settings are the same. I did not find any error code from the event viewer too. The only thing that I have is this error message when I tried to print a test page. "Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter
for assistance?" And when I click "Yes", it said I did not have the related service installed and I could not find the error code for this issue.
Does anyone have any ideas on this issue? Please share this.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Based on your description it seems that there is issue with incompatible print driver. As you commented you can access for canon but not for HP. Please see that you have update version of HP driver is installed. If possible try to use RDS universal printer
    driver and verify.
How to configure Microsoft RDS Universal Printing
Does this happen for any specific user or for all users? If this happen for any particular user then there might be issue with user profile got corrupt so need to clear user profile cache or delete it and re-login to check the result.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.
