Program GFW_PROG_TIME_AXIS convert to "true" line chart example.

Please disregard...took two days but I have succesful GFW line chart...  I found a single customizing method call in error...now wiping egg from face....  )

Hi,
instead of using these function modules you could use the OO interface of the GFW. Just have a look at the program GFW_PROG_TIME_AXIS. There is no restriction regarding the amount of data.
Alternatively you could use the new chart engine that also provides chart types with a horizontal time axis. Download the SAP Chart Designer from the SDN downloads area and give it a try!

I have to do this either in flex or in flash cs3. i dont have any ideas how to proceed. can anyone help me out on this. i need it asap.
    Thanks

  • How to convert from line chart data to CSV format

    Hi ,
I am using Flex 3 and AS.
I am getting data from MS SQL and display the data as line
    chart this is ok.
But i want to convert this line chart data to CSV or .xsl
format.I find one example in fourms the from data grid to CSV
    For this URL is
    http://www.abdulqabiz.com/blog/archives/flash_and_actionscript/datagriddataexporter.php
But i want Line chart to CSV.Please help me.

Line chart is a just a visual representation of some data
that's sitting in your database. Isn't it? You load this in Flex,
probably using HTTPService class, and pass it to some chart object.
Now when use says that she needs it in CSV format, you're
gonna have to send another request to the server to produce the
same data, convert into CSV or XLS format and let user download it.
Of course, if use doesn't want to download, you don't have to
go to the server, at least for CSV format. You can convert the same
data that used plot the chart to convert to CSV.
    Am I missing something here?

  • Line Chart - Is there any Example?

    Hello Friends;
I searched through old messages but I couldn't find any servlet example which produces a line chart. There is a "free" API called JFreeChart . They initially put some examples in the free distribution but later on they removed. They sell the user guide which has lots of examples for $40 bucks, which is not affordable for students like me.
Sometimes small examples explain a lot to a beginner level user.
If you have anything that you can share, it would be appreciated.

Ok. No problem, I found some applet examples, I'll try to put them in a servlet.
There shouldn't be any problem, right?

  • Please help me to draw a special line Chart!

Hi, I am programming to draw a line chart with X-axis as timepoint (for example, t1, t2, t3, t4, ...) and Y-axis as values (v1, v2, v3,v4,...) and have a line connecting all the (t, v) point. The issue I have encountered is that when a value (for example, v3) is missing at the timepont(t3), I still want the timepoint to show on X-axis but the connectiong line to stop at (t2, v2) and start again at (t4, v4). Is it possible to draw such a line chart? Is there any 3rd party supporting it? If so, may you please give me hints and help me out of this? Thanks alot.

  • Crystal reports in jsp ,the Line chart 's line can't display in jsp?

that is example crystal-reports-10 for Jbuild 2005,
I just modify such in viewreport.jsp:
    <crviewer:viewer displayToolbarRefreshButton="true" isOwnPage="true" displayToolbarCrystalLogo="false" displayToolbar="true" displayToolbarExportButton="true"
    displayToolbarPrintButton="true" displayGroupTree="false" viewerName="worldsales" reportSourceType="reportingComponent" reportSourceVar="<%= path %>"><crviewer:report reportName="<%= path %>"/></crviewer:viewer>
it can't display a Line chart rpt's line and background's picture, and when I press refresh button report a Error "Error finding JNDI name (yhgl)"
    help!!

The jars should be in your installed Crystal Reports folder( \Crystal Decisions\..\java\lib or something like that...). The problem is that your server (Tomcat and others) ignores the system classpath completely (it sets its own in its startup script).
Therefore, in order for Tomcat to find the jars, those jars have to be placed in in %CATALINA_HOME%\common\lib\. There, they will be available for all your applications. If you don't want them available globally, put them in your particular webapp's WEB-INF\lib directory.

  • Displaying regression line slope on line chart

    Post Author: Derk_Niblick
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
I've been having some difficulty building a chart. I'm trying to plot two different series onto a chart. A scatterchart is ideally what I am looking to use, but I cannot get the trendlines to work (I can't get the two different values into one series). I tried putting it into a line chart and while it's not working exactly how I would like it to, the trendlines work with it. However, I cannot calculate the slope of that line. I can view the formula (the linear trendline formula is in the standard y=mx+b type format), but i'm looking for the actual numeric slope value (y2-y1/x2-x1 for all you mathmatically inclinde folk).  If I could get the program to give me two points on that line I can write a formula to calculate the actual slope of the line. Ultimately, I would like to chart the two different series (for example x = one value and y= another value giving me that precise location on the chart), draw a trendline through the points, and give a slope value. Can someone at least point me in the right direction.

  • Line Chart cannot drill down on legends and lines

I am doing a drill down Group report which will show the Sum of Last year's Sales By Country, State and city over a period of time(by date) for throughout the year 2007. Every group will have a line chart with Data title as Sum of Last year's Sales ($), Group Title as Date and legends displaying countries (or states or cities) as USA,UK,Australia. etc.. I have same sort of line chart for State and City as well. So, I got 3 levels of groups with a line-chart displayed in every group level.
Now, the problem is my drill down would not work on chart lines or legends as it would do for a 2-dimensional data chart like a bar-chart or pie-chart. In the Chart Expert->Data->Layout:Group ->in the On Change Of event selection I am able to specify either Sales.Country (or) Sales.country and Sales.Sales.State. Both options would not let me get the correct linechart with correct data and drill-down working as well.
The only work-around i got is to display the line chart with legends and showing the Country(or State or City) names in a field in the Group Footer. The drilling will work on those fields, but not on the legends or lines of the line chart. This make my report showing the Country names twice once on legend (with no drill-down) and once on group-footer(with drilling ability to groups below) which is untidy.
Have anyone tried to make a drill-down crystal report on a 3-dimensional data like this? The World Sales report in Crystal reports C:\Program...\BO\Samples\General Business\World Sales Report is the best example of how i would like to see my charts to drill down. However, they drill down across a 2-dimensional data. I am publishing this Crystal Reports in Business Objects Infoview.

Please re-post if this is still an issue

  • Colours for Line Chart

I am trying to create comparative line charts for yearly data over at least a decade (i.e. at least 10 individual lines on one chart).
Any lines over six don't print. The unprinted lines have a colour allocated against them in the associated table, but not in the chart legend - the labels do appear in the legend.
I have been trying to manipulate the Chart Colours… (which does appear to be restricted to six) without any success.
(P.S. For any American readers - my spelling corrector is automatically inserting the 'u' in colours.)

You may dislike it if you wish (we are free) but this will not change the program design.
However you can have the medal if you tell me how to superpose charts - I can't find that in the Users Guide.
It was described here many times.
    (1) build the two charts
    (2) strip every titles, legends,… from one of them
    (3) adjust the min and max values if necessary (on both axis)
    (4) select the chart which you strip then from the format bar define its background to none so it will be transparent.
    (5) drag the 'transparent' chart above the 'complete' one.
If you don't group them, they will remain 'living' charts which will evolve with changes in datas.
I didn't checked but I assume that grouping them will freeze them.
If the medal is made of TRUE chocolate, I'm interested.
It it is made of the brown mixture which is sold as 'chocolate' in the USA, I am not

If you're using the new AnyChart then you can using bevel...not sure how its done with the old but it must be possible. Example here: http://anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/Samples/Sample-Line-chart-Application-of-different-styles-to-chart-elements.xml

  • Line chart - possible to have an unbroken line through NULL values?

    Hi,
I have a line chart. In the middle of my data are a few missing (NULL) values.
Right now, if there is a null value in the data set, the line is broken. Is it possible to have the line connect through these null values without breaking?

  • Line chart x-axis label overloaded with labels

    Hi,
I have a Line chart filled by a large resultset (hundreds of rows). Each row contains a decimal value and a timestamp. The interval between timestamps is short so it is impossible to plot every single date/time in the x-axis label because there is no space.
I would like to hide the the x-axis label for most rows and plot this label for each x rows. Something like this:
      18/12/2009 09:00            18/12/2009 10:00           18/12/2009 11:00            18/12/2009 12:00
            |---------------------------|---------------------------|---------------------------|
In the previous x-axis example there are many timestamps between 18/12/2009 09:00 and 18/12/2009 10:00 but they are not plotted in the chart. It is possible to do something like this in MII charts?

    Hi,
I think Michael is right about the Ticks per label parameter. Looks like it is not working for me because the chart data binding is not behaving as expected.
The chart rowset is composed by two fields: decimal and date time. The date time field is already converted to string. The rowset comes from a BLS transaction.
I think this forum has no support for file upload so I will add links to the xMII workbench screenshots so you guys can see my chart/query configuration.

When I run the chart I get this result: http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/chart1.PNG
As you can see the chart has no X-Axis labels ans I need to add the date/time to the X-axis. If I add the field to "X-Axis label columns" the field values are ploted but the parameter "Ticks per label" is ignored and hundreds of labels are ploted together and is impossible to read them. I think the "Ticks per label" parameter only works for fields added to Labels columns (in data mapping). The problem I am facing is: when I add the date field (http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/data_mapping2.PNG) to Label columns I get an empty chart like this: http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/chart2.PNG
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Can't seem to draw a chart (line chart) using dates rather than numbers

I'm trying to draw a Line Chart but rather using numbers i want to use dates for example: Switzerland 23/06/2008 - 23/08/2008. Can't seem to get it to work? it seems to all go wrong when I change the cell format to 'date'
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
PS. I can do it easily in Excel

    Hello
From my point of view, it's not surprising.
In XL, a date is a number to which a date format is applied. So, it may be charted.
Same thing with the good old AppleWorks.
With Numbers, a date is NOT a number, it IS a specific class of data.
The consequence is that it can't be charted directly.
Happily, we may easily convert a date into a number.
In column B the formula is
    =A-$A$1
which calculates the numeric difference between stored dates and the date stored in A1.
So, we may chart the results.
I know that it's far from perfect but we have to live with the choices made by Numbers's designers.

  • Simple Line Chart - Values over time

A simple line chart displaying a set of values over time would seem to be a very easy report to design. I'll be darned if I can see how to design it. Can anyone shed some light?
I have provided links to a report and a spreadsheet which is the report datasource. My actual report will use SQL Server as its datasource. I am providing ths excel based example for the sake of protability. You will need to set the datasource location after saving the files to your hard drive.
I can get the lines to draw properly, what I cannot figure out is how to specify the datetime values for the x axis. The column I would like to use on the x-axis is called DerivedLoggingTime.
I'd also like to get control of the logarithmic algorithm used to formulate the y-axis values. I am not always happy with the values that the log algorithm comes up with.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    [Link to report|http://www.usol.com/~joe/linechart.rpt]
    [Link to spreadsheet|http://www.usol.com/~joe/AnalysisResults.xls]
Another discovery while working on this report - our database will be SQL 2008 and  we are making use of the datetime2 datatype. CR appears to be treating this datatype as text. So when working with the SQL based datasource, I had to cast datetime2 columns as datetime in order for CR to see the columns as datetime instead of text. This is fine in this instance because the granularity of the datetime values for this particular report does not require datetime2, but that will not always be the case. CR will need to recognize the new datatype.
Edited by: Joe Sytniak on Jul 17, 2008 5:37 PM

    Hi Joe,
The Date Axis Line Chart of the Numeric Axis Type Chart, can be used to display data on a regular interval of days, Months and Years. The information displayed can unfortunately not be more granular that days.
This type of chart is generally used when the data is recorded on irregular intervals in the database, and to make sense of the information stored it needs to be displayed at regular intervals.
Since the data stored in your data source seems to be stored every 4 minutes, it will not be necessary to use this type of chart. I will suggest to use the regular line chart instead.
To create a line chart using your date time field and value:
    1. Select "Chart" under the menu "Insert"
    2. Insert the chart on your report in the desired section.
        ( Group Header # 3 in your case. )
    3. In the "Chart Expert" window, under the tab "Type",
change the chart type to a line chart by selecting "Line" in
        the "Chart Type" list.
    4. Under the tab "Data", add the database field that contains the Date Time information under the "On change of" list.
(In your case, add the "DerivedLoggingTime" database field)
    5. To display the data for each minute, select the database fields you just added under the "On Change of" list, and
click on the button "Order". In the "Chart Sort Order" window,
select "For each minutes" in the "Section will be printed" drop down list, then click "OK"
    6. Add the field you want to display the value in the "Show Value List", then click "OK"
Now it will display a line chart as desired, but since there is a lots of data point on your chart, the x axis date time labels will overlap each other. To avoid  this situation, I will suggest to skip labels.
To format a chart to skip labels:
    1. In the "Preview" tab of the report, select one of the x axis label, and right click on it. In the contextual menu, select "Group (X) Axis Options..."
    2. In the "Group (X) Axis Settings" window, under the tab "Layout", check the option "Skip Group Labels" and set the value to 15 for example.
Now, it will display the date time label at every 15 data point.
As for your question on how get control of the logarithmic algorithm used to formulate the y-axis values, we unfortunately do not have much control over it other than:
    - Entering static values, or
    - Checking or Unchecking the option "Use Logarithmic scales"
The above options are available on the y axis. To change those options:
    1. In the "Preview" tab of the report, select one of the y axis label, and right click on it. In the contextual menu, select "Group (Y) Axis Options..."
    2. In the "Group (Y) Axis Settings" window, under the tab "Scales", you will see the following options:
    - Minimum Values
    - Maximum Values
    - Use Logarithmic scales
I will suggest to check the option "Use Logarithmic scales"
Finally, as for the issue you discovered where SQL Server 2008 data type DateTime2 is converted to a string in Crystal Reports 2008, it is important to note that SQL Server 2008 hasn't been released yet, therefore it has not been tested in Crystal Reports 2008. Once SQL Server 2008 is released, I will suggest to test it again using the ODBC driver provided with this new version.
At this point I am assuming that this is happening because it is a new data type and an unknown data type get converted to string.
