Programatically generating a report based on an XPT template

In our architecture, we embed BI Publisher report generation within a Weblogic instance running our application. When a user requests a report, we use the BI Publisher transformation API's to generate XML from a data template and transform the data template against an RTF or PDF stylesheet. As we upgrade to BI Publisher 11g, we'd like to allow our users to design a report using the BI Publisher Layout Editor. But these layouts are stored in a proprietary .xpt format and do not seem to have a corresponding transformation API. Is there an available API to transform an .xpt layout against a data XML? Alternatively, is there any way to programatically transform an .xpt layout to RTF?

Hi ,
Thanks for your valuable time.
We are in designing phase of the project. we need to know ,Is there any inbuilt dashboards or reports built using both PO and PR repositories?
I would like to explain with ex:
Let's say we need a report or dashboard containing few fields from PO and few fields from PR.Let's assume both PO and PR data available at same granularity.
Do we have any such inbuilt reports or dashboard?
If not, could we customize the report generation using both PO and PS tables?
Please provide the solution.
Thanks in advance.

  • How to Generate a Report Based on User's Parameters from Web Site

    Hi, all,
I am trying to use Oracle Developer 6.0 Report Builder to generate report based on what user types in from the web site. Since I am a novice, I am wondering if anybody would help me with the following questions:
    1. How can I create a report based on user's parameters?
Assuming that I have 2 text fields EMPNO and DEPT on the web site, after user types in some value, how can I pass these parameters into my query, can I do something like:
select ENAME, JOB, EADDRESS from EMP
    where EMPNO =
    some_reference_of_parameters_from_user
or is there any other way to achieve this functionality?
    2. How can I pass a PDF format report back to user after the report is generated?
    Any help is greately appreciated!!
    Best regards.
    Judy

    Hello,
In the Report Builder, create two user parameters, and set the parameter name, datatype, width, and default values to what you want. Modify the query and put in a where clause (e.g., where deptno = :p_deptno). When you request the report with PARAMFORM=YES on the URL, it'll generate a default parameter form in HTML and allow the user to enter in the selected parameter values. Also set DESTYPE=CACHE&DESFORMAT=PDF on the URL to get the output back as PDF.
If you upgrade to Reports 6i, you can customize the default HTML parameter form.

  • Can We generate Check report based on Custom Dimension in FDM

    Hi All,
We got a requirement in our project to generate the check report based on custom dimension. As far as i know the check reports that got generated in FDM are based on Entity Dimension.
So, will you please let me know whether it is possible to generate report based on any one of the custom dimension.
    Thanks.

I guess I am not understanding the question here?
The check report is based on the location/entity that you are running the report for.  You can pull values for a specific intersection in the target application with the check report, so you could specify the custom dim in the intersection.

  • Report Based on XML Data Template is timing out

    Hi there,
i have an XML publisher report based on an XML data template that i've written. The report is working fine except when there is huge data that is supposed to come out, its timing out. Ive set the db_fetch_size parameter to 20 and scalable_mode to on but its still timing out.
If anyone has a solutiom or a thought it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.
Well when i'm opening the report , i wait for about 15 seconds then 'Page Cannot be Displayed' appears on my browser. I'm having this case only when i'm expecting huge data. By huge data i mean that the report gets informations about a deal, when the deal has 10 categories the report runs fine, but when i add all catgories, about 1000, it gives me the 'Page cannot be displayed' error. I'm guessing its a time out issue since i've set the scalable_mode parameter to on. Any thoughts ???

  • Can I create a report based on Non-Oracle template?

    Hi:
I have a Microsoft Word document that contains the entire layout of a report I need to create with Oracle Report 6i. I know that I can create a report based on a template, but as I understand it, I am limited to using Oracle Reports templates. Does Reports support using foreign templates? Thanks for any word in this manner.
    Thomas Morgan
    :)

oracle reports does not support using ms word documents as templates. there is a product in the oracle applications stack, XML publisher, that allows you to inject data into a word template.
    thanks,

  • How to Generate a report based on a drop-down list?

    Good Afternoon,
I am looking for a way to create a drop down list/select list with the values '2008' and '2009'. Based on the value selected in the list, data will be displayed from a table.
In the table, there is January to December for 2008 and January to December of 2009. So when selecting '2008', I would like January to December 2008 to be displayed.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Create a static LOV with the following source:
    STATIC:2008,2009
Assuming your LOV is named P1_LOV your report SQL would look something like:SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE DATE LIKE '%' || :P1_LOV || '%'

  • Generate  Report based on latest request

    Hi Frds,
Can we able to generate the Report based on the latest request.
if so , explain me clearly
    thanks,

    Hi,
    1. Create 3 variables for Request ID, customer exit, single value, uncheck ready for input (e,g. ZEXIT01. ZEXIT02 , ZEXIT03).
    ZEXIT01 represents request of Source1 , File1
    ZEXIT02 represents request of Source1 , File2
ZEXIT03 represents request Source2, i.e. for source1 the two most recent requests
and for source2 the most recent request are provided by these variables.
    2. For ZEXIT01add attached code to ZXRSRU01: Just modify bold expression according to your scenario.
    3. For ZEXIT02 change  IF SY-TABIX = 1 to  IF SY-TABIX = 2 , WHEN 'ZEXIT01'.to
WHEN 'ZEXIT02'. and add code to ZXRSRU01.
    4. For ZEXIT03 change 'YOUR_INDOSOURCE' to IS-name of Source2,WHEN 'ZEXIT01'.to WHEN 'ZEXIT03'. and add code to ZXRSRU01.
    5. At last assign these  variables in Query Designer to characteristic Request ID.
    Sample Code:
    WHEN 'ZEXIT01'.
        TABLES:RSSELDONE,
               RSICCONT.
DATA: L_T_SELDONE LIKE RSSELDONE OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
DATA: L_T_ICUBE LIKE RSICCONT OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
        DATA : REQNO1 TYPE RSSELDONE-RNR.
SELECT * FROM RSICCONT INTO TABLE L_T_ICUBE WHERE
               ICUBE = <b>'YOUR_CUBE'</b>.
        SORT L_T_ICUBE BY RNSIDLAST DESCENDING.
SELECT * FROM RSSELDONE INTO TABLE L_T_SELDONE WHERE
               SOURCE  = <b>'YOUR_INDOSOURCE'</b>.
        SORT L_T_SELDONE BY RNR.
        LOOP AT L_T_ICUBE.
          IF SY-TABIX = 1.
READ TABLE L_T_SELDONE WITH KEY L_T_ICUBE-RNR BINARY SEARCH.
            IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
              REQNO1 = L_T_ICUBE-RNR .
              EXIT.
            ENDIF.
          ENDIF.
        ENDLOOP.
        CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
        L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
        L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
        L_S_RANGE-LOW = REQNO1.
        APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.

  • How to create a report based on radia selection

    Hi,
I am new bie to Appex, I have a requiment to generate a report based on existing table with the select creditaria. I mean, the select creditaria wil be the radio button, if i click any option the report will change accordingly.
It is nothing but filter condition but i need to do with the radio button/items. Please give the detail steps
    Thanks in advance.
    Kumar.

    Kumar,
First you will need to create the radio group on the page with the report and determine the list of values you would like to filter the report on (dynamic or static). ie:
    select CUST_STATE as display_value, CUST_STATE as return_value
      from DEMO_CUSTOMERS
order by 1Then you will need to update the report's where clause (demo application page 2 example):
    select customer_id, cust_last_name || ', ' || cust_first_name customer_name, CUST_STREET_ADDRESS1 || decode(CUST_STREET_ADDRESS2, null, null, ', ' || CUST_STREET_ADDRESS2) customer_address, cust_city, cust_state, cust_postal_code
    from demo_customers
where cust_state = :P2_RADIOWith an Interactive Report, make sure you list the radio group item (P2_RADIO) in the "Page Items to Submit" fields in the report region.
The you can create an on change dynamic action based on the radio group to refresh the Report region. I made a quick example on apex.oracle.com
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=34760:2
Depending on the number of items in the radio group, you may want to think about using a select list also.

  • Generating pdf report via concurrent manager and xml publisher

I have report (rdf) which works fine in eBusiness Suite but I’d like to create translatable reports with reach layout (comparing with the Report Builder) based on the functionalities of the XML publisher. I’ve made all necessary steps (first change the output format for that report in concurrent manager from pdf to xml, submit the report to get xml file, which I’ve used in Microsoft Word Template Builder to make layout in rtf file, and create data and template in XML Publisher Administrator in eBusiness Suite).
When I’ve submitted that report from concurrent manager, after the concurrent manage finished his job I got the warning message.
Also the output file is not generated and in log file there is a message: One or more post-processing actions failed. Consult the OPP service log for details.
Concurrent manager works fine, but there are problem when concurrent manager send the xml output of the report to XML Publisher which have to create pdf layout based on rtf template.
I think there might be a problem with report complexity, while I’ve used layout formatting, api calls to eBusiness Suite, parameters, placeholders, attached library etc.
If it is impossible to get new report based on xml publisher template, what is the purpose of xml publisher if it is so limited, while every eBusiness Suite Report is so complex.
I hope there will be a person on this forum with the same problem, otherwise I’ll give up at all from XML Publisher, at least until it come a better version of that tool which it seems to be in early development phase and not ready for the market yet.

All of the complex report logic is handled in your Oracle Report (rdf) file.
If your Oracle report is working OK, then this report should be generating XML.
After running your report, go to the View Requests window. Highlight your request, and click the Diagnostics button. Then click the 'View XML' button. If you see XML data, then you should be OK.
When I faced a similar issue, it was because the '1 step' process didnt work for the particular report I was using. The '1 step' process doesn't work for every report. Which report are you using?
If the report is submitted via a form (not the concurrent manager request form), then you probably need to use 2 steps to produce the desired output.

  • Conditional Display of Interactive Report Based On Different SQL Query

    Hello,
I have two drop down list on top of my page and below that I have a interactive report.
Based on user selection of values from drop down, interactive report should change based on different SQL queries.
Is it possible to have different SQL queries based on values from drop down and generate interactive report based on that?
    Thanks

I am passing my drop down value to apex_collection like the following:
    APEX_COLLECTION.CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY( p_collection_name => 'IR_LIST',
p_query => REQUEST_VIEW(:P12_VIEW));However when I change the values from the drop down, :P12_VIEW is not getting the value from drop down even though I could see value being changed in URL. I have created page process for apex_collection
Process Point - OnLoad - Before Header
Run Process - Once Per Session or When ResetCould someone suggest as why I cannot get the values in function when drop down is changed?

  • Generating a report w/ block diagram & programatically specified case structure?

    Hi,
I am trying to generate a report that shows the block diagram for a programatically specific case structure.
The case structure has ~90 cases and is selected by a custom control.
    I'm on Labview 8.5
I've found with the Append Block Diagram to VI, I can print out all of the cases (setting hidden frames to true), or just one case. However, I cannot select which case it shows, it always prints out whatever case has been manually selected on the block diagram, but I want to be able to programatically select it.
I've tried to do the same thing by opening a vi reference, and using BD.Get Image Scaled, and cannot get that working as desired either. I've also tried setting the value of the control before getting the image, but that doesn't help.
    Any thoughts?

    Probably.
This VI is backsaved to 8.5 and has the basic functionality. I don't know if the traverse VI shipped with 8.5, but hopefully this should be enough. If not, LAVA has info on how to access the scripting features in older versions (although less between 8.0 and 8.6).
Try to take over the world!
