Project  Import Bug

PPCS3, windows, latest patches, etc, etc
Great bug and I used to write software for a living, so I know a good bud when I see one Perfectly repeatable 100% of the time:
Needed to pull together something quickly. Built a new project and imported several old projects to pull assets and some timeline.
So I build project X and import projects A+B+C
Cleaned-up all the un-needed assets and un-used timelines and reorganized everything nice and tidy. Used project manager to blow-away all unused assets.
SO I am left with just X
Burned DVD life is good.
So now I have a finished project X and saved-it-out. Done !
Several weeks later, a guy sees the DVD and wants me to expand the idea and use some of his assets.
OK, dont want to corrupt my finished dvd project [X], so I create a new project and import the final version of the saved dvd project [X] and will add his assets
Basically use final X + new assets to make project Y
Well, upon importing X, I dont get X I get A+B+C ??? in the state prior to using project manager to clean-up
In summary, X is not imported at all, not the final timeline anywhere.. I simple get A+B+C..
I must be crazy, so I close my current project and open the final dvd project [X] and it is in its correct state ---- nice and tidy. I even burn another DVD to make sure the project is not corrupted.
OK, I must have made a mistake, so I go back and create a new project [Y] and import the final state of X and it happens again. I get A+B+C I even try to import auto-saves versions, and still happens.
Now I assume the project bin is managed using a linked-list of pointers, or large pointer array something inside the project file is really screwed-up to cause an import problem like this. Are there history states on the project bin?
Thanks in advance,
Hugh

Update:
See previous post for background.
Well I figure that I may as well work with what I got. My project has only 100 assets, so what the hell, how long could it take me?
I import X (and get A+B+C)
I re-splice A+B+C to Make a new project Y It will cost me a day, but its snowing right now and what the hell
So I re-clean-up and use project manager to blow-away unused assets basically getting a new Y that is an approximation of X
Come back after a break..
Open Y and PP asked for 3 missing assets.. what the hell??? I write down the names, skip them and use the find function to locate the missing assets in the project.not there at all they were purged during the clean-up. Found them on disk and definitely blown-away in project manager starting to see a pattern here..
Not sure of the structure of the project file, but it must be corrupt And what is interesting, it is remembering a previous state of the file I can open the original X and burn a dvd perfectly. But if I import X, it sees a version of the file that has not existed in monthsNow that is cool
Thinking Most [mission critical] software has built-in validity checking you run a stand-alone software on the database (Oracle, Exchange, Quicken, disk i-node tables, whatever) they all have it I wrote some of this stuff in my time. These programs rifle-through the data and use checksums, Hamming codes, etc.. to see if and data is corrupt, and ask you how you want to fix itPP have a function like this? If so, can I use it to fix my corrupt project? If not, it would be a good feature This would save me many hours at this point
Thanks in advance,
Hugh

  • Premiere Elements project imported into Premiere Pro CS5.5 becomes unusable after first save

    I have Premiere Pro CS5.5, and I have been trying for some time to successfuly edit an old project that was originally created in Premiere Elements (not sure which version--probably 7.0). It has the .prel extension. The project imports just fine, and I am able to edit it initially. However, if I save my new Premiere Pro project, close Pr and try to open the new project again, I get the "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements." error message. I have tried many of the various project recovery suggestions people have made in this forum and elsewhere online, but none of them seem to work. I even opened the project in XML Wrench, but there were no errors returned when I clicked "check is well formed." Once I close the project after doing some initial editing, it is gone. Is this a known issue? Is there any way I can be able to edit the old project in Pr and save my work? Thanks!

    Have you tried using the project manager to re-copy all elements and timeline etc into a totally new directory. I'm just curious to see if that would make a difference. I'd be intrested to see if when making a new project in this manor if it would because as you have stated the normal save methods haven't.

  • Nwrfc 0.0.5 with important bug fix!

    I have just pushed version 0.0.5 of the new gem to rubygems.org (you can also access the latest repo at GitHub).
    0.0.5 introduces an important bug fix in Table#each. Previously only the first row would continuously be returned. Now you can actually treat a Table like an Enumerable!

  • CS3 and CS2 Project import

    I've read a number of references to problems with former projects importing into CS4. I too thought I had a big problem when I imported a project to CS4 and the workspace was blank. Once I discovered the new feature in the Workspace: "Import Workspace from Project", UNCHECKED it, and selected an existing CS4 workspace - there was no problem.
    So far, all of my projects have imported just fine.

    Thanks for posting this, I'm sure it will help a lot of people.
    Cheers

  • I believe I found an import bug in LR 5.4

    I believe I've uncovered an import bug in Lightroom 5.4 under Mavericks.  I noticed a folder with 19 photos and videos, but LR was only showing 18.  So I tried synchronizing the folder, and still only 18 were found.  So, in the import screen I unchecked "Don't import suspected duplicates", and it still would not import.  So, I removed the folder containing the photos from LR, then re-imported them, and still only 18 photos!
    So, the .jpg file listed here will NOT import into LR regardless of my efforts.  The mp4 imports just fine.  It seems like a bug pertaining to files with the same name but different extensions, or something similar.  Here are the file names:
    bernie3_blue_baby_shopping_walmart-09-2.mp4 - IMPORTS OK
    bernie3_blue_baby_shopping_walmart-09-2.jpg   - WILL NOT IMPORT

    I’m not sure it’s a bug but rather by design. For example if you do external editing from Lightroom in Photoshop the word Edit is automatically added to the tiff or PSD file with the same name. Simply change the file name for the jpeg and it will import. LR does permit jpeg and raw files with the same name but it requires enabling in the prefs. I assume there is no similar pref setting for videos, as they would always be numbered separately when importing directly from a camera card; so the situation would never usually arise.

  • MS Project import - Scheduling

    Hello
    I have some problems with the MS Project Import.
    The help i find is not really exactly.
    Who to schedule during a MS Project import.
    I mapped the fields for the import so for example the project definition object:
    FINISH_DATE     PDCP     cProjects Project Definition     FINISH_DATE_FIX
    START_DATE     PDCP     cProjects Project Definition     START_DATE_FIX
    My project in MS Project has the start 11.11.2009 and the scheduled end 08.12.2009.
    But when I import a project in cProjects I have a start date 09.07.2009, calculated start 09.07.2009 and calculated end 10.07.2009
    on every object (task, project definition...) I have the wrong date after import.
    what is the problem?
    Edited by: Denis Müller on Jul 9, 2009 7:30 AM

    Hi
    There are two options
    Either you go for
    1.  mapping duration of Task or Phases with acivity duration in MSP and pass only start date,
    system will calculate end date
    or
    2.  try by using constraints, CONSTR_TYPE_FIN and CONSTRAINT_TYPE for start and end date,
    for this you need Ms project to maintain values
    let all know th support pack you are on
    Niranjan
    Let me know if it helps

  • MS Project Import Problem - Task & Phase Names not importing

    I have been trying to get the MS Project import working with Cprojects. So far the structure and all the fields & come across except for the Task or Phase Names, which are always blank.
    I have followed the Note 958210 and the field mapping is the default one supplied, where the field Name in MSProject is mapped to the description field in Cprojects. I have also specified a phase type in field 20, as it says in the Note. E.g the project is structured as below:
    Text20....................| Name
    000000000000001....| PROJECT PREPARATION
    ..............................| -Project Management Preparation
    ..............................| -Business Model Definition
    000000000000001....| BUSINESS PROCESS ANALYSIS
    ..............................| -Project Kick Off
    ..............................| -Business Process Analysis
    Any ideas why these Names would not be coming across from MSProject?

    hi
    check whether all the fields mapping is done.

  • IDML Import Bug?

    Hi All,
    Just wondering if anyone can reproduce what appears to be a CS4/CS5 IDML import bug.
    I typed
    11
    22
    33
    44
    55
    (first 3 digits in bold) then tagged "22" as an XML element before exporting an IDML file.
    When the IDML file is imported, I get
    11
    22
    33
    44
    55
    (all digits in boldface except for the trailing 2.)
    The problem seems to be on the import side of CS4/CS5 since the exported IDML looks okay to me:
    <ParagraphStyleRange AppliedParagraphStyle="ParagraphStyle/$ID/NormalParagraphStyle">
         <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]" FontStyle="Bold">
              <Content>11</Content>
              <Br/>
         </CharacterStyleRange>
         <XMLElement Self="di2i7i6" MarkupTag="XMLTag/Story">
              <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]" FontStyle="Bold">
                   <Content>2</Content>
                   </CharacterStyleRange>
                   <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]">
                   <Content>2</Content>
              </CharacterStyleRange>
         </XMLElement>
         <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]">
              <Br/>
              <Content>33</Content>
              <Br/>
              <Content>44</Content>
              <Br/>
              <Content>55</Content>
              <Br/>
         </CharacterStyleRange>
    </ParagraphStyleRange>
    Comments anyone?

    Hello Larry,
    i am the developer of the IDMLlib http://idmllib.com/ a Java library which is able to read/modify/create IDML.
    I have also noticed some strange behavior regarding the importing of IDML, where the order of elements affect the parsing of the IDML in CS4/CS5.
    My first thought was, i have created an invalid IDML, but the IDML Relax NG compact schema is very explicit, order doesn´t matter.
    The best example i have at hand, which is very easy to reproduce is the TabList. A valid tablist attached to ParagraphStyleRange for example looks like this:
    <TabList type="list">
        <ListItem type="record">
            <Alignment type="enumeration">LeftAlign</Alignment>
            <AlignmentCharacter type="string">,</AlignmentCharacter>
            <Leader type="string"></Leader>
            <Position type="unit">144</Position>
        </ListItem>
    </TabList>
    If you change this by moving the Position to the top, which is no problem regarding the schema which doesn´t enforce a strict order of the elements:
    element Alignment { enum_type, TabStopAlignment_EnumValue }&
    element AlignmentCharacter { string_type, xsd:string }&
    element Leader { string_type, xsd:string }&
    element Position { unit_type, xsd:double })
    So if you change this example to this, and reimport the IDML into CS4/CS5 INDD the <Position/> will not be parsed and you wont see a TabList
    <TabList type="list">
         <ListItem type="record">
            <Position type="unit">144</Position>
             <Alignment type="enumeration">LeftAlign</Alignment>
             <AlignmentCharacter  type="string">,</AlignmentCharacter>
             <Leader type="string"></Leader>
         </ListItem>
    </TabList>
    If you export this again as IDML the <Position/> if set to 0
    I circumvented this problem by forcing the creation of TabList Items with a constructor that will only allow to create TabListItems with all values present and therefore i can force the order of the created childs. But i think this will not be the only problem where parsing doesn´t do what it is supposed to do.
    There has been a posting from a guy complaining about different import results regarding the attribute order of IDML element:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/637711
    I will try to reproduce the behavior you decribed.
    Cheers, Andreas

  • FB3 Beta 3 - another organize imports bug

    I'm getting lucky :-) Here is another organize imports bug in
    FB3 Beta3...
    If you have some simple hierarchy where base class defines
    public (or protected) method, and sub class tries to override this
    method you will encounter this bug. Let say that base class looks
    like this:
    package test {
    import flash.display.Shape;
    public class BaseClass extends Shape {
    public function BaseClass() {
    public function myMethod():void {
    trace("In BaseClass.myMethod()");
    and that sub class looks like this
    package test {
    public class SubClass extends BaseClass {
    public function SubClass() {
    super();
    Now, if you try to override myMethod() from BaseClass and
    start typing in subclass something like
    override public function m
    and use Ctrl+Space, FB will insert appropriate method but it
    will also insert errorneous import statement like this:
    import test.BaseClass.myMethod;
    So you will end up with sub class which looks like following:
    package test {
    import test.BaseClass.myMethod;
    public class SubClass extends BaseClass {
    public function SubClass() {
    super();
    override public function myMethod():void {
    Wrong import is correctly marked as error but issuing
    "organize import" does not remove it so it must be removed
    manually.
    Regards,
    Damir Murat
    PS: Sorry for bad code formatting but there is no option for
    inserting in-line code and attach code is a little bit
    awkward.

    Damir Murat,
    Did you already file a bug for this? If not, would you mind
    adding it to the public bug base so we can track the issue.
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Address Book contact importing bug

    Bug reproducing sequence:
    1) Create any smart-group in the Address Book
    2) Double-click that group's name to rename it
    3) Command-Tab from Address Book leaving it in status waiting to enter new smart-group's name
    4) Double click on any .vcf file to import a new contact into Address Book
    5) You'd be forwarded back to Address Book with a window offering to confirm contact's import
    Bug itself:
    Pressing the Add button actually imports a new contact to the Address Book, but does not close this pop-up window. As a result you can create many copies of the same contact before you notice the problem and close this window pressing Cancel button.
    Testing the same sequence on MacMini and iMac caused creation of many Unnamed contacts and did not import a new contact at all.

    I found the solution in a different post in the community.
    You need to go into yr address book on yr MAC. Edit each contact 1 by 1... Cut (Cmd X) and copy (Cmd V) each pix back in... When you synch yr MAC and iPhone again, pix miraculously appear in Contacts and when you get a call from one of them.
    Not a fancy solution but works!...

  • Motion project imported into FCP looks different...

    I have a Motion project that moves 17 magazine covers across a background. When I preview it in Motion it looks great, but when I import it into FCP the mags overlap and run into each other. What could be happening during import and is there a fix??

    I'm posting in response to my own question because this may actually be a bug. When I import the Motion project into FCP with the Motion layers locked, the animation is altered. When I go back into Motion and unlock all the layers and import into FCP, the animation is perfect. No kidding, locked tracks and the animation is funky, unlocked and it's fine. Anyone ever stumble on this??

  • ICal import bug when creating calendars in iPhoto 2011

    Hi,
    I just created a calendar in the new iPhoto 2011 and imported an iCal calendar to the project.
    What I discovered is that it only imports one event per day to the calendar in iPhoto, although the calendar in iCal has sometimes more than one event per day.
    Fx. in my calendar in iCal I have two events on a certain date, f.x my mothers birthday and my son's birthday on January 18th. However when importing this calendar to the calendar project in iPhoto only my mothers name gets imported. This was not an issue in iPhoto 2010.
    Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

    Definitely a bug and unforgivable given the time of year - I usually order a couple of calendars as Christmas presents - If I can't order them in time for Christmas then Apple have lost the business.
    It seems to me that iLife 11 was rushed out for Christmas. First the appalling upgrade problems and then the realisation that Calendars were not included. Two patches later and we still have an un-useable Calendar.
    The worst part about it is, it's not obvious - I wonder how many people have ordered calendars and not noticed the missing Birthdays. I can see a lot of disappointed friends and relatives next year whose birthdays will be missed.
    My only hope is an old backup of my Macbook - pre upgrade. If I can boot from that disk, import my recent photos, import the latest version of the iCal Calendar events, I can recreate the Calendar with iPhoto '09. Not sure I can be bothered,

  • Project import via project catalog

    Hello there,
    I am still working on my setup environment.
    Finally, I was able to deploy my setups to git and access them in my installer.
    There is just something strange.
    When I don't redirect my installer to my git repository to use my own catalogs and add the setup file for my project manually to my installer, everything works fine.
    If I redirect my installer to use the same files from git (they are of course synchronized and absolutely the same) my git projects aren't imported anymore. The other tasks in this setup seem to work fine. The preferences are set, the plugins are installed, but no git repositories, projects or working sets. I don't receive an error message, from the point of view of the installer everything worked out fine, but there is something missing.
    Do you have an idea what could be the problem here?

    Matthias,
    You're missing this in your project catalog:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <setup:WorkspaceTask
    xmi:version="2.0"
    xmlns:xmi="http://www.omg.org/XMI"
    xmlns:setup="http://www.eclipse.org/oomph/setup/1.0"
    id="workspace"/>
    If you want to make your project catalog extensible so that users can
    try authoring their own setups locally and testing them, you might want
    to consider adding this to your catalog as well (with URIs and
    descriptions that match your catalog).
    <project
    href="user:/org.eclipse.projects.setup?name='user.project',label='&lt;User>',description='A
    container project for local user projects that are virtual members of
    the Eclipse.org project catalog'#/"/>

  • Project importing to NWDB but not Server CM folder

    When importing projects into MII, we sometimes run into the issue where the files successfully updates to the NWDB database (XMII_FILES) and I can also view them in the workbench.  Though if I attempt to execute anything in the WEB folder, I get a file not found error in my web browser.  When this occurs I check the server where the files are stored under (usr/sap/...root/CM/ and none of the files imported are in this folder.  Does anyone know why this happens or how I can force MII to push the files to the server?
    If I create a new irpt in the workbench and save it, I can see it in both XMII_FILES and in the root/CM folder.  The issue sometimes happens when we import new files.
    We are using a Linux in a clustered environment. I've read that a bad cluster setup can cause issues but it appears this one is setup correctly.
    Thanks,
    George

    Hello,
    Thanks for the input.  We have tried publishing it and it hasn't had any effect.  Also The "blowout mode of Catalog service" also does not have any effect.
    Thanks,
    George
