"Project is not under source control" Prompt.

Hello,
When I create a simple dictionary type, I get a prompt "Project is not under source control", with following message:
Could not check package name. Do you want to continue ?
Yes/NO
This started happening today as I started working on a new DC.
I am not using NWDI. My workspace contains about 10 projects, all are closed except the one I am working.
Is it ok if I ignore this message ?
Thanks
Srinivas

Hi,
You can safely answer "Yes". This message means that the wizard could not ascertain whether the namespace for your package has already been reserved or not.

  • How to clone a project that is under version control?

    [RH10]
Hello. I have a large project that is under TFS source control. I would like some advice on how to safely clone a copy of this project to a separate location (not under source control).
In the past I ran into problems when copying a project under source control. I think I need to somehow unlink the project from TFS before copying it, but I am hesitant to do this without some expert guidance. Can anyone walk me through the steps for doing this safely? (By safely, I mean without altering in any way the state of the production files under source control.)
    Thanks,
    Mike

An olden golden from Rick: http://www.robowizard.com/RoboWizard/MonthlyScry/102004.htm
Just create a copy somewhere and follow the steps outlined by Rick. This article applies to all versions of RoboHelp, no matter the source control system used.

  • VS 2012 shows one project in solution with source control hieroglyphs but not the other

I have a solution that contains a database project, and an integration services project. The solution was add to a git repo that's based on a TFS 2013 team project. Team project was created, connected to with VS, synced, and the solution created within
that (using the new button after connecting from Team Explorer). My issue now is that the database project shows files that are checked-in, modified locally and not committed, etc - but the SSIS project does not. I still have the option to commit changes to
either project, but there's no visual queues on the one when there are changes. Any way to fix this?

  • Cannot get project to open from Source Control

When trying to open project from Source Control, it times out (at Loading Index). After numerous tries, I'll get cpd file corrupt and I follow the steps (delete file and try again); sometimes I get very strange error messages.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem so I can open a good copy of the Source Control project on my desktop?

    Hi,
What version/flavour of RoboHelp are you using?
What source control client are you using? Are you using the RoboSource control on a 64 bit system? If so, you need to update RoboSource control: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/917/cpsid_91739.html. Note that this fix is for RoboHelp 9.

  • I am getting a windows security pop up in VMPLayer " this page is accessing information that is not under its control "

No matter which button I push, it ignores it and starts over in a loop. I am trying to create a VM of Win 7 from an MDT iso image. I have done this dozens of times until this week, now this pop up window prevents me from doing so.
I have tried several different user accts. I have tried it locally on the same box. I have even removed the last 2 months worth of patches and updates from the system, nothing seems to work.

I have also purchased the VMPlayer 7 pro, so the (Non Commerical Use Only) is an old picture

  • How can I add a Website Project in a solution that should be excluded from source control?

    Using VS 2013 update 4
I currently have a solution with a couple of Class Library Projects and Web Application Projects and all of these are bound to a source control (VS Online). Now I added an Existing Website Project in the same solution by choosing a Local IIS instance. However,
I don't want this Website Project to be in source control.
I have tried File > Source Control > Advanced > Change Source Control ... and then clicked on the website project and then clicked Unbind. By doing this, it seems that the project was unbound. However, as soon as I close the solution it asks me
to save the .sln file and seems that it restored the Scc*** info in the file.
I also tried editing the .sln file and set the SccProjectEnlistmentChoice* = 0 (of the website project, under GlobalSection) and then set the ProjectSection of the WebsiteProject to
    SccProjectName = ""
    SccAuxPath = ""
    SccLocalPath = ""
    SccProvider = ""
instead of "SAK". This actually worked for me but everytime I open the solution, Visual Studio alerts an error saying "Unspecified error". This is the closest I got into solving this.
Is there a proper way of doing this? I think the proper way should be the "Unbind" method but it seems that it's not working as expected.
Let me know of other solutions.
    Cheers!

  • Check for Items Source Control Status in Project Explorer

Is there a way to check what items in the Project Explorer are not currently under source code control? Perhaps through property nodes? I didn't see anything that looked like it could be done this way, but I would like to know if there are items in my project that are not in source control that should be in source control.

    Hi zenthoef,
I do not believe there is any way to tell which files are not currently under source code control through LabVIEW. My only thought is that you could make a call into the source code control API. However most likely the API is not open to external calls and it would depend on what source code control you are using.

  • What files should not be checked into Source Control?

    Good afternoon.
Running RoboHelp 11, integrated with Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio 2010.
When my two colleagues recently "got" the latest project files from Source Control, they also got items that had been removed or deleted. For example, I had removed all conditional build tags from my project, but their version still included the build tags. Eventually, thanks in part to an old post from Peter Grainge, we realized that the PSS in Source Control contained a lot of that old information. We deleted the PSS and stopped checking it into Source Control. Problem solved. No more conditional build tags or unwanted Single Source Layouts, etc. (I think the PSS got checked in by our Release Engineer when he was trying to solve some other problem. Two years ago it was not being checked in.)
I vaguely remember reading something somewhere once upon a time about not checking certain RoboHelp  project management files into Source Control. So far I've not found any such information in the RoboHelp Help or online.
Does anyone know where I can find a list of RoboHelp HTML project management files, such as the PSS file, that should never be checked into Source Control?
    Many thanks.

  • Project management + Source Control

we are using labview 8.5 and not well known source control in a team environment. I'm not sure if it is the souce control that I'm using or other searsons, but I had so much trouble using those combination. I want to know what others thought about project management and/or source control in general.
    Thanks,

    Hi!
Actually, I've never merged, since I'm the only LabView guy on our development team
I absolutely agree with the fact that SVN is a good tool, but I should confess that I didn't spend much time in evaluating many other tools (never tried MS tools), for this I rely on my colleagues' opinion.
I can report that SVN is being used in a graphic studio for pictures versioning of course, they don't need to merge images   There's virtually no limit in SVN use...

  • How to move a project in source control

I messed up & need your advice. I put my first RH project, "core", at the root level of my VSS project:
    $
    rh_projects
       core
Unfortunately, my "core" RH project is now a child project in a merged help system.  I also put the "parent" project at the root level, so now it looks like this in VSS:
    $
      rh_projects
         core
         parent
... but my VSS folder structure really should reflect my real folder structure, so that other writers can use the same structure when they open the project.
So I want to change my VSS folder structure to this:
    $
      rh_projects
        parent
        projects
           core
So here's my question (finally!):  what's the best way to move the core project in VSS?
    * In RH, remove the core project from source control, then put it back under source control at the new folder level, OR
    * In VSS, add the new "projects" folder structure and move the "core" folder underneath it, then open it in RH as a "new" project?
    thanks,
    Jenny

    Either way should work.
Method 1 will ensure the source control path in the RH files points to the correct VSS location
Method 2 will keep your change history if this is important to you. However, it is trickier to do.  Zip up a copy of your project just in case.
    Method 2 details
If you use this method, you need to manually change the VSS path listed in the .xpj file.
Look for something similar to the following. It may be different depending on your versions of RH and VSS. The below is from RH6 and VSS2005. '[' represents and angle bracket.
    [matchedpair]
               [name]vc::cookie[/name]
               [value]"$/Dev/Source/Documentation/MyProject", ZTZQBAAA[/value]
    [/matchedpair]
You will need to change the [value] line: change the path beginning with $ to your project location.
I don't think you need to change the 8 character code after the comma, but I was never quite sure what it meant. If want to be safe or things don't work, create a temporary new project and add it to VSS at the same level as your project. Copy the bit in green from the temp project and paste it into your real one. Delete the temp project.
Also make sure you delete the .cpd file before opening the project as this sometimes remembers the old location.

  • Do I need to put these .pxml files under the source control?

Yup. Keep your mds folder under source control as well.

  • Bc4j: source control

    Hi,
I'd like to know how you manage bc4j under source control.
A bc4j project consists of a lot of files:
    Project.jpr
    Project.jpx
    package.xml
    package.xcfg
    AppModule.xml
    AppModule.java
    AppModuleImpl.java
and some files per entity, view, assoc, viewlink
When you do an operation on the source control system (check-in, check-out), do you perform that operation on all of these files?
Do check-out all the files, or do you check-out only the files you need?
We are using PVCS for source control - so I my special interest is on how to use PVCS in conjunction with BC4J.
Thanks a lot for your comments
    Guenther

    Guenther,
To use PVCS as you SCM System with JDeveloper, you have 2 options:
    1. Not intergerate your IDE with PVCS.
When you need to work on an object:
    a) Open PVCS Version Manager(VM)
    b) Check out the object (set your workfile location in VM to your JDeveloper work area). Some objects consist of more than one file. For example, a view object consist of .xml and .java file. So, obviously, you have to check out both. Also, if you need to add an object to the application module, you'll need to check out the application module files. This is an opprotunity to become familiar with the different files that makes your JDeveloper workspace.
    c) Open JDeveloper and work on your file. It was necessary for me to keep JDeveloper 3.2 closed while I check out the file from VM. Otherwise I got errors when I tried to open the object. JDeveloper 9i seems to do much better.
    d) Check in the object from VM
    2. You other option is to integerate PVCS with JDeveloper, you currently have two options here:
    a) Write your own Add-in if you have a lot of extra time and looking for some excitement. Oracle is not planning on helping us with this at all. I read a thread about someone writting one but no one has made this available yet.
    b) If you are using PVCS 6.8, you can download the PVCS WebDAV Server. It took me less than 30 minutes to install and setup. It allows you to integrate JDeveloper 9i with PVCS. I have only been use it for a week now. It's workable. It is a little different. Instead of check-in/check-out, you LOCK the file and you work on it. The strange thing is that you can work on the file without locking it. This causes the creation of a new revision in PVCS everytime you save. Also, currently, I am the only one using WebDAV. So, I am still not aware of all the issues arising from working with a large group.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Source control ADD grayed out

    - I need to add files to GIT, and have a repository there, but I can't commit any files, because Xcode says none of them are under source control. BUT, I can't add them to source control, because Source Control-Add is gray! How do I enable this menu item??

Creating Git repository for existing XCode projects
This problem has been puzzling me for a while...
    Scenario 1:
You started a simple project just for a quick/simple test.
XCode gives you option to "Create local git repository for this project", and for some reason you didn't/forgot to tick it...
After you spent some time on it, your simple proof-of-concept project seems to worth a lot more now and you want to add it to the source control. Ooops, how do you do that again??!! You tried every possible options under "File -> Source Control" menu but none of them works, what the....$%#@! I guess it's mainly your fault for not creating the repository at the beginning, but, but, but, wouldn't it be nice if Apple can add an option into XCode to make it easier to add existing projects to the the source control?
    Scenario 2:
There's another scenario - which happens to me quite a lot - you downloaded something from the web, you "heavily" modified it (it's mine now, mine mine mine! Ha ha ha....), and again, later wants to add it to source control and..... stuck again! Finally found a solution today, thanks to this link by Ash Furrow, I learned that you have to: (a) create an empty repository by open a terminal, go to your project directory and run the following commands:
git init git add . git commit -m "Initial commit"
    (b) after that, follow the following steps (you may compress the whole project into a ".gz" file first if you worried about loosing anything...)
Move your existing project folder to your desktop.
Make a new, empty project in Xcode with the same name as your project. Make sure the box for using a .git repo is selected.
    Close Xcode.
Copy all files from the project folder on your desktop to the new project folder Xcode created.
    Double-click the project file.
You'll now need to add all the files to the source control since (they'll all have question marks beside them, shown right).

  • Multi-authoring with source control with RH10 and RH11

    Situation:
Writer A is running RH10. Writer A opens Project A, from Visual Studio Source Control, which is connected to a Team Foundation Server.
A new employee, Writer B, has been given RH11.
Writer A can't install RH11 until after mid-June because of tight schedules (can't afford any upgrade problems).
Writer B is supposed to work on the same Help project. (We know that RoboHelp does not support checking out the same file at the same time.)
If Writer B configures her version of RH11 to work with TFS and Source Control, can she open Project A and work on it (from Source Control) without causing problems for Writer A?
    Thanks.
    Carol Levine

If Writer B is not using Source Control or it is competely separate from Writer A, possibly but I still would not be comfortable.
I think I would rather upgrade Writer A and I note your reservations. It's your call but it's like being between the devil and the deep blue sea. Neither is ideal.
So far it looks like Rh11 upgrades have been OK.
