Project Plan or Activities for an OBI Applications project

I should be starting a new OBI Applications project for a customer that has SIebel CRM installed. I know quite well OBI applications (install, configuration, etc).
I am looking for a project plan for an OBI applications project... like Stages, Activities per stage, deliverables, etc.
I'd appreciate any help.

Hey Bob,
what you probably need is some information
on how to Mic a guitar or recording vocals mix it,
and recording environment (meaning your fisical space).
Instead of buying a lot of books and DVD's on the subject,
a good solution's probably a sound on sound esub (after
subscribe you have acess to the past articles (on a search
data base) and the mag online for a year.
It's a wonderfull way to learn too.

  • Users for OBI Applications

    Hello,
I am confused with item 4.4.1 from OBI Applications 7.9.6.3 installation manual... I´ve copied it bellow:
+"The transactional (OLTP) database user that is registered in DAC should be the+
+database table owner. Alternatively, at a minimum, the user registered in DAC+
+must have read privileges on the transactional database for all tables and aliases.+
+For Siebel CRM databases, the OLTP database user requires privileges to create+
+triggers and views on all tables and aliases."+
I cannot quite understand... The OLTP database user that is registered in DAC >> pls. Is this the dac repository owner ? The one we do the login in DAC ?
The next paragraph says... the OLTP database user requires privileges to create... >> I imagine that is the same user as above ?
Pls. I would appreciate comments and help :))

    Txs. for your comments...
Well, I have done an implementation using DBA as privileges... but that is not the current case.
I understand you saying about the physical connections - but if I remember correctly -- this connection needs a user/pwd...
I do have something like below, but I am not sure it is correct... like BIDAC privileges below... (also I´ve seen doc in support: ID 513063.1 but it is kind of old and not clear)
    I would appreciate comments... suggestions.

  • Mass generation of activities (for field force) from Trade Promotion

    Hi gurus,
is it possible to mass generate activities from Trade Promotions?
I've done it several times using campaigns but i don't know if it's possible from Trade Promo. The business scenario is the following: The Sales manager define some extradisplay for a customer hierarchy node: i'd like to mass generate activities for each BP belonging to that node so that field rep. can check the execution of the promotion.
    Any help is appreciated
    Regards
    Carminem

    hi there
    its very much possible
first u need to ensure that you have assigned either target group members or, if you are working with a trade promotion, a planning customer.
    now follow these steps
    1. You create an opportunity template or activity template in the Marketing/Activity Template Details  tile set.
2.You define the criteria for determining the employees responsible for the generated  activities in the Employee Responsible Details tile.
3.You start mass generation in the Marketing/Activity Templates tile set, and select a target group. For trade promotions, you have the option of selecting either a target group or a planning customer.
4.The application checks whether the opportunities or activities are already generated for each business partner and contact in the selected group.
An  activity can be generated only once for a business partner or contact for each campaign or trade promotion.
5.The application identifies generates an  activity for each business partner or contact assigned to the campaign or trade promotion by using the relevant template.
6.The application assigns the employees responsible for each  activity according to the criteria that you specified earlier.

  • SSO for multiple APEX applications on the same instance

    Hi All,
We have an APEX instance with 2 applications configured in 2 workspaces.
The instance is already configured to use SSO. I have followed thee Metalink note #562807.1 to do the SSO wiring.
We are planning to incorporate SSO authentication for both the applications.
Also planning to use different URLs (2 aliases for the server) for the applications.
    eg:-
    App1 will be using http://app1.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:10
    App2 will be using http://app2.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=200:10
Is it possible to register SSO on 2 URLs for the same instance?
Can I execute regapp.sql multiple times on the same instance?
    Please advice me.
    Thanks,
    Sajeesh

Is it possible to register SSO on 2 URLs for the same instance? You should be able to register as many partner applications as you like. I suggest that you try it.
Can I execute regapp.sql multiple times on the same instance?Yes, but the lsnr_token value must be unique. That's HTML_DB:hostname:port.
Your applications in different workspaces will not be able to share sessions but you will probably get the single-sign-on behavior you need.

  • Usage of SAP Event Management as backend for custom mobile applications

    Hi,
I'm am looking for an appropriate implementation approach for custom mobile applications as complement for warehouse processes with SAP Extended Warehouse Management.
    Possible scenarios:
    i) Goods issue - loading process
There are requirements like capturing of various data about the vehicle and load per RF handheld computer. The goal is to trace and archive them for analysis and reporting purposes.
    ii) Goods receipt -production process
The production supply and goods receipt from production are realized in SAP EWM. The request is to collect data about the production process for quality reasons by use of RF devices.
You can picture oneself the additional mobile data entry activities during the various processes as predefined question catalogues with answer options.
The frontend - the additional mobile transactions can be realized with the EWM-Radio-Frequency-Framework, too. But I feel confindent that there is a better way to track, trace, store, analyse, report and archiv of the collected data to Y-TABLES.
Would you recommend to use SAP Event Management for this purpose to complement the SAP EWM processes?
The existing requirements as described above is in my understanding only a little fraction of the capabilities of SAP Event Management. The data collection and evaluation process is local within the warehouse. At first there is not requested any automatic system behaviour to particular events...
There are a lot material and information about SAP Event Management. But I havent found an easy getting started for my simple business scenario to enhance the EWM processes with the EM capabilities. How I could realize a question/anwer catalogue with the EM tools?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Laura

    Hello Laura,
principally the process would fit for EM. But EWM is not integrated up to now to EM i.e. you would have to do the connection from EWM to EM by your own.
How to generally connect an application to EM is described here:
    service.sap.com/scm
    -> Event Managament
    -> Technical Information
-> Connect SAP objects to SAP EM

  • One Search service application for multiple web applications in a single server

We are planning to host 17 Web applications in a single Server. Do I need to create search service application for each web application or I need to create one  Search service application , create a Content source for each web
application and create a Result source for filtering. Which is the best approach. And which approach takes more RAM memory.
In my application I am using Search web part, "Recently Changed Items", "Popular Items" web parts. when I created only one one  Search Service application for all web applications and using Result sources ,
I am not getting the results. What could be the problem.

    Hi,
One SSA is ok, but you should think about access rights. If the access is clear cut between all the web apps you should be ok with one SSA. Multiple result sources limiting on content source also works, but could easily be bypassed.
Multiple SSA's will eat up RAM/CPU like a mother :)
As for popular etc.. it could be due to how those sources are set up, but haven't investigated or tested this much.
    Thanks,

  • How to capture the process type for a particular application

In my application CRMD_BUS2000120 there are 3 process types namely incidents, zcomplaints and zrepair order. But all the 3 display the same description as New: Incidents . Since this is attached with the application name. How can i change the description according to the process type i select. If I select incidents the description should be Incident , if i select zcomplaints it should be zcomplaints. Can anyone guide me how to do this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anu

    Hi Fred,
If you open any activities or opportunities, you can see the description if you select new button and click on the process type. It will be display Activities and below that New: Activity. Instead of always displaying the same description I want to override the description according to the process type. For me the application is not activity but Incident. Hope I am clear with the question.

  • HTTPS (SSL) for an internal application: benefits? costs?

This is a traditional SAP R/3 customer, recently upgraded to ECC (ECC 6.0, Basis 7.0). We are still using the ABAP stack only, with no plans of installing the Java stack, installing SAP EP portal, … .
A small "Web Dynpro for ABAP" (WDA) application has been developed, as an exploration into the world of WDA. It is intended for occasional users - users who rarely  use the SAP system and who do not have the SAP GUI for Windows installed on their PC. It is purely an internal service (intranet) - not customer-facing, only available on the internal network.
It is currently using plain HTTP, but the question has been raised whether we should use HTTPS (in other words, set up for SSL).
What would be gained by doing this and how much would it cost?
If I understand correctly, it would enable server authentication. You would be certain that it is the genuine SAP server that is asking for your username and password, not some phishing scheme - not really a big issue on the internal network. (We could buy a server certificate from the SAP TC Trustcenter CA - 260 EUR excl VAT.)
It would also enable client authentication. If I understand correctly, this would remove the need for username/password log-in, but it would require the creation of certificates for each one of those users, to be distributed to each one of them and installed in their browser. No small undertaking! This sounds like the scheme used for the "SAP Passport" in the SAP Service MarketPlace.

First you can turn on HTTPS without the use of client certificates.  These are two different things.  You can have HTTPS and still use basic authentication or forms based authentication.  You could do certificates as well (which then would require HTTPS), but certificates are not a requirement if you just want to do HTTPS.
The main benefit of HTTPS is the encryption of the data as it travels through your network.  With plain HTTP, anyone with a network sniffer could read any of the data across the network (including the user's password when they login).  The question probably comes back to how much you trust the security of your internal network.  But also you might consider what a rouge employee could do with some basic network knowledge - mainly gaining other users passwords.
That is also why SAP offers a hybrid approach called switch to HTTPS for logon. This is a setting in the logon configuration in the service nodes in transaction SICF.  This way you switch into HTTPS just for the logon screen.  The password is sent encrypted.  Then for the application data itself, you switch back into HTTP.  This way you don't pay the performance cost of encrypting all the data for every HTTP request/response.

  • DO's & DONT's for a better application performance

I am very new to tuning. What are the sql & pl/sql do's and dont's and best sql & pl/sql practices for a better application performance?
I was told by somebody to check explain plan for tuning db & sql statements. But i am bit confused by seeing the explain and don't know from where i have start and what i have take into consideration from explain plan to improve application preformance?
Can somebody help me in this regard?

    > I am very new to tuning.
Good. Not having to tune means that the code is performing as it should.
And this is THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION.
Do not write and design code that needs to be tuned and twisted and modded in order to perform. Write and design code with the core requirements of that code being:
    - performance
    - scalability
    - flexibility
    - maintainability
Good design = good code = good performance
No amount of tuning can turn bad code and a bad design into a well performing and scalable system. Which is why I dislike the concept of "tuning code". Start with a good and solid design. In other words, tune that before the code.
    > What are the sql & pl/sql do's and dont's and best sql & pl/sql practices
    for a better application performance?
The 1st basic rule is actually quite simple.
The "data layer" rule: Maximize SQL. Minimize PL/SQL.
Do not do in PL/SQL what SQL is very capable of doing. Fact. No other language is faster and better than SQL at crunching data in the Oracle RDBMS.
The 2nd basic rule is a logical extension of the 1st.
The "application layer" rule. Maximize PL/SQL. Minimize Java/C++/C#/Delphi/VB/etc.
Do not do in a 3rd party language what PL/SQL is extremely capable of doing. Fact. No 3rd party language is as capable as crunching data in the Oracle RDBMS as PL/SQL.
Stick to these two fundamental rules and your Oracle application will have a solid foundation for being a well performing and very scalable solution.

  • Deadlock detected during SELECT FOR UPDATE - an application error?

I have a general question about how Oracle prevents deadlocks from affecting
applications: do I need to build support into the application for handling
deadlocks when they occur in this particular scenario, or should Oracle handle
this for me? I'd like to know whether this is "normal" behavior for an Oracle
application, or if there is an underlying problem. Consider the following situation:
Two sessions issue individual SELECT FOR UPDATE queries. Each query locates
records in the table using a different index. These indexes point to rows in a
different order from each other, meaning that a deadlock will occur if the two
    statement execute simultaneously.
For illustrative purposes, consider these rows in a hypothetical table.
    ALPHABET
    alpha
    bravo
    charlie
    delta
    echo
    foxtrot
    golf
    hotel
Index A results in traversing the table in ascending alphabetical order; index
B, descending. If two SELECT FOR UPDATE statements concurrently execute on this
table--one with an ascending order execution path and one in descending order--
the two processes will deadlock at the point where they meet. If Session A
locks alpha, bravo, charlie, and delta, while Session B locks hotel, golf,
foxtrot, and echo, then neither process can proceed. A needs to lock echo, and
B needs to lock delta, but one cannot continue until the other releases its
    locks.
This execution path can be encouraged using hints. Executing queries similar to these on larger tables will generate the "collision" as described above.
    -- Session A
    select /*+ index_asc (customer) */
    from customer
    where gender = 'M'
    for update;
    -- Session B
    select /*+ index_desc (customer) */
    from customer
    where gender = 'M'
    for update;
Oracle will recognize that both sessions are in a stand-off, and it will roll
back the work performed by one of the two sessions to break the deadlock.
My question pivots on whether or not, in this situation, the deadlock gets
reported back to the application executing the queries as an ORA-00060. If
these are the ONLY queries executed during these sessions, I would think that
Oracle would rollback the locking performed in one of the SELECT FOR UPDATE
    statements. If I understand correctly,
    (1) Oracle silently rolls back and replays work performed by UPDATE statements
when a deadlock situation occurs within the scope of the update statement,
    and
    (2) A SELECT FOR UPDATE statement causes Oracle, at the point in time the cursor
is opened, to lock all rows matching the WHERE clause.
If this is the case, then should I expect Oracle to produce an ORA-00060
deadlock detection error for two SELECT FOR UPDATE statements?
I would think that, for deadlock situations completely within Oracle's control,
this should be perceived to the application invoking the SELECT FOR UPDATE
statements as regular blocking. Since the query execution plans are the sole
reason for this deadlock situation, I think that Oracle would handle the
situation gracefully (like it does for UPDATE, as referenced in (1)).
Notice, from the trace file below, that the waits appear to be from row locking,
and not from an artificial deadlock (e.g. ITL contention).
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning option
    DEADLOCK DETECTED
Current SQL statement for this session:
SELECT XXX FROM YYY WHERE ZZZ LIKE 'AAA%' FOR UPDATE

    object line object
    handle number name
    58a1f8f18 4 anonymous block
    58a1f8f18 11 anonymous block
The following deadlock is not an ORACLE error. It is a
deadlock due to user error in the design of an application
or from issuing incorrect ad-hoc SQL. The following
information may aid in determining the deadlock:
    Deadlock graph:
    ---------Blocker(s)-------- ---------Waiter(s)---------

Thanks for your response. In my example, I used the indexes to force a pair of query execution plans to "collide" somewhere in the table in question by having one query traverse the table via index in an ascending order, and another in descending. This is an artificial scenario for reproducible illustrative purposes, but similar collisions could legitimately occur in real world scenarios (e.g. a full table scan and an index range scan with lookup by ROWID).
So, with that said, I think it would be unreasonable for Oracle to report the collision as a ORA-00060 every time it occurs because:
    (1) The UPDATE statement handles this situation automatically, and
    (2) An ORA-00060 results in a 100+KB trace file being written out, only rational for truly erroneous situations.
I agree that, when the application misbehaves and locks rows out of order in separate SQL statements, then Oracle should raise an ORA-00060, as the deadlock is outside of its control. But in this case, the problem occurs with just two individual SQL statements, each within its own transaction.

  • Regarding planned delivery time for Subcontracting process

1.Factory calender is maintained  and assigned to the plant,SUNDAY is

  • ECM Plan with no budget, planning, or approval for hourly union employees

We are implementing Enterprise Compensation Management at my company.  We are on 6.0 Ehp5.  One of our requirements is for a General Increase Plan (Salary Adjustment) for union employees.  There is no approval process for this plan.  Once top leadership has approved the increase (outside of SAP) every eligible employeeu2019s base pay is increased by the same percentage.  Also, this group of employees has fixed pay per job.  We use table T510 to store their pay scales and levels.  So we normally increase the values in T510 by the approved percentage and then create new IT0008 via mass upload.
Since we are implementing ECM and want this plan to be administered through ECM, my question is about how that should work.  I was thinking that we would use PECM_CREATE_COMP_PRO to create the Compensation Process record and bring to the minimum.  I am not sure if this transaction looks at T510 or just T710 or the Planned Compensation (HRP1005).  I assume we would then use PECM_CHANGE_STATUS to change the status to u201CApprovedu201D (not sure if the IT0759 has to be in Appoved status before being activated).  Lastly we would use PECM_CHANGE_STATUS to Activate the Compensation Process infotypes.  Does this sound like the way to handle a plan where every eligible employee gets the same % increase or do you know of a best practice you could share?

    Hi Vishal,
Nice to see your reply, i am having SAP_ALL permissions in the backend system, my user id was attached to employee, that employee is top level manager, i am able to see employees successfully in MSS 600 Compensation Approval WebDynpro JAVA application for Approval and Rejection, but i am not able to see employeed in MSS 604 (EHP4) Review Planning(Compensation Approval) WebDynpro ABAP application.
When i am trying to execute that application even i am not able to see any errors, the screen looks fine, only in the table it displays " table does not contain data"
If you have any idea please help me on this one.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Activities for each phase in Sales Methodology for Opportunities

    Hello Gurus,
I want to configure certain activities around each phase for sales methodology in Opportunity. eg phase 1 identification, if there cud be series of aactivities like calling up a customer, setting up appointment, etc  which if configured becomes a part of sales assistant and pops up as planned activities for that phase, it how do I configure this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Swetha,
For your situation, once any phase is approved, you could send an email to notify task creator the certain phase is approved.
If you need to let users who can access the item know the approved phases, you might add some other fields in the list. For example, add the multiple choices that has:
    Request Initiation
    Initiation approved
    Request Plan
    Planning phase approved
    Request Closure
    Closing phase approved
And add an extra action in workflow to change the field's value per the approve status.

  • Planned depreciation value for each period

    Hi,
Where can I get the planned depreciation value for each period? I need the fields for customised report.
    Thank you

    Hi,
You can get the dep planned values for the each period by using SAP standard report S_ALR_87012936.
In the selection screen of that report, click on All selections button on application tool bar. Then you will be able to see the all the available fields for selection.
    Choose evaluation period as Month.
Now execute it. After getting output, you need to go for change layout and adopt fileds like Dep 01-2010, Dep 02-2010, Dep 03-2010....Etc till Dep 12-2010.
    This will fix your requirement.
