Project save question

I did an animation from photographs using After Effects Cs6,and from previous tests I saw that if I remove from my pc. the pictures I used in the animation ...they are lost inside After Effects too.Is there  a way to save my project with all my pictures in it so that if I remove them from computer  that doesen`t affect the After Effects project ? Thanks

That's kind of circular reasoning - you need the files to use in AE. AE uses references and does not store any such data inside the project file. Your best bett is to run a File --> Collect Files and back up everything in a folder, but it doesn't get better than that.

    I have installed Premiere Elements 7 on a Win 7 32 bit os HP8000 desktop.  When I try to save a project to H: drive on a Novell server, I get a "project save error".  You can save fine to the desktop, but not to the H: drive.  If you try to open a Premiere Elements 7 file (on the Win 7 machine) that was created on a WinXP machine with the same Premiere Elements 7 program, you get "Projects created with adobe premiere pro and adobe premiere elements are not compatible. Please use the appropriate application to open this project."

    Solved.  The problem was to do with the Novell Client.  I installed the latest version (Client 2 sp1 ir4 for Win 7) and that solved the problem.

    I need an expert advice on setting up timelines for establishing an Oracle Apps Production environment. We are implementing Oracle HR & Payroll at an organization.
    Our system architecture is a 2-node application tier and 2-node DB tier (RAC). RAC is configured by another party and we only have to prepare the application tier (2 nodes)
    We would be installing Oracle Apps R11i (11.5.10) with jserv load balancing on the 2-nodes
    Can anyone suggest how much time this should take to install/configure & patching of the application tier (on 2 nodes)?

    Hi All,
    I have couple of Project billing questions. Hope you can help
    1)A wrong customer was attached to project billing agreement, funding and base line also completed for the customer.
    Now we realized that its wrong customer and want to change it to correct customer.
    What are the options we have here?
    Can we delete or end date the billing agreement?
    will the funding be release from the wrong customner after deleting or end dating the billing agreement?
    2) Wrong customer attached to a project..agreements,funding,baselining are NOT done.
    How can we delete this customer and add the correct customer?
    The option to change the customer is grayed out.

    On your first question you said the agreement was created for wrong customer. Since you already baselined the funding, I assume you have that customer linked to the project.
    You can go the Agreement form and  enter a negative funding line allocated to the same project. The total allocated amount will be zero. The agreement is now not allocated and free to be allocated to another project. If it is a wrong agreement you may update the agreement amount to zero.  Now create a new agreement for the right customer.
    The open issue is with the project. You have a wrong customer associated with that project. However, system will not allow you to remove the customer - project record.  Solution depends on the way the project was setup. Did you enable customer at top task? if so, end date the top task and create an alternative top task with the right customer.
    If the project has been set with a single customer you better close the project and start a new one.
    However, if you need an alternative solution, I can suggest a custom method. Go to Help > ..> Examine and change the existing customer of the project to zero contribution.
    Now you will be able to add the right customer to the project and have 100% contribution on it.

  • Encountering a "Project Save Error"

    I'm running Adobe's Creative Suite on a MBP with OSX 10.8.2. Since installing CS6, I've encountered the following problem with Adobe Premiere Pro: whenever I attempt to save the project, I get a "project save error" telling me I need to choose "save as" and save the project to another location. I can save another version of the project to any location, including the location where the original file is saved. This is a hassle, since it leads to several versions of a project sitting in one location. Does anyone have a way around this? So far, I've tried fixing disk permissions, uninstalling/reinstalling Premiere Pro, and saving to MacHD instead of my external hard drive, all with no success. I am attaching a screen shot of the error message in hopes that it helps. Thanks for your help,

    Hi Ashish,
    cProjects being a part of the PLM package, you would need to undergo SAP PLM certification. As per my knowledge, there is no separate cProjects suite certification available.
    However, there are training programs conducted by SAP for cProjects and xRPM. You may get the details regarding these from the marketplace. Please refer https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/partnerportal/apj/home

  • Premiere Pro Project Save Error

    configuration: windows 7 64bit; Adobe Master Collection CS4; Windows Domain 2003; Mandatory roaming profile for student account. Students save work on a network share specific to their username (having full control of said folder).
    issue: when opening an existing adobe premiere pro project, they can make changes, render, export etc. but when they click file->save it give an error:
    Project Save Error
    Could not open the project file with write access. The file may be locked or you may not have permission to write to this location. Select 'Save As' from the File menu to save the project to a new location.
    If we do select the save as option, we can save the file to the same directory from which the original project was opened (with a different filename of course). I believe this might be an issue with a temporary / cache location premiere pro is using but  I have been unsuccessful in finding any information on the temp locations and how it saves the working files.

    In general, PPro is not really designed for a multi-user setup... or for networking
    PPro really runs best when the "owner" is the Administrator... which I don't think you can do for students
    Maybe someone else will come along with other information (I am just a standalone user) but I've seen a LOT of similar messages, and don't remember any solution other than running as Administrator, with files on a local (not network) computer

  • Having trouble with AE crashing on project save

    In the past few days, I have had problems with AE locking up while trying to save a project. The problem seems to be random, as I can save several times in a row, then at some point I will try to save, get the spinning beachball, then wait a few minutes before I get an error message:
    After Effects error: writing to file "AEtemp-29241" - disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36).
    As it looked like a disk error, I moved all of my files to another local volume, but got the same results. The same thing happens with Save As, no matter where I save the file. We also tried making a new project file and bringing in the elements from the older version, in case it might be a corrupt project file. No luck. Also deleted and re-created the AE prefs.
    So having eliminated the source disk and the target disk as part of the problem, I thought it might be a problem with a source clip. I went back to the original Quicktime outputs from the Avid (the clips are 1920x1080 DNx 220) and re-rendered them as Animation, then replaced the footage in the comp.
    After doing this, and continuing to work on the project for a while, my next render crashed with the message:
    After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {unexpected match name searched for in group}, followed by:
    After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {PF_GetFloatingPointColorFromColorDef() called on non-PF_Param_COLOR} (25::249)
    The problem started when I added the Magic Bullet Look plugins to the workstation. I bought Magic Bullet Suite 2008 last week and ran some tests, everything seemed OK. But other projects on the same machine seem to be fine. This is the first project to use MB Look or any other MB plugin. Unfortunately, the project was designed around using the Look plugins, so I can't just ignore them and use something else.
    Finally, I tried moving the project to another workstation, deleting the plugins from the previous station and installing them on the new one. The problems follow the project even to a different station.
    Has anyone seen anything like this?

    I think the answer is there. In English: the internal color processing (PF) was unable to determine the color values from an external processing unit (non-PF), which is Looks Builder. It certainly is a problem with how Looks is processing the pixels using OpenGL. basically at some point it simply returns garbage to AE. The question would be: Can you find another workstation with another (non-ATI) graphics card, or use Bootcamp to e.g. launch a Windows version? I don't think there's another permanent solution to this, as apparently something goes wrong with specific pixel shader operations. These issues would have to be fixed in the plugin directly or by a driver update from ATI. I'd definitely contact RG's support on the matter. Refer to me and tell them I send you. They may be kind enough to fix you up with a Windows serial if necessary...

  • Importing projects / sequences question

    I started out my project with the wrong resolution (*sigh*) and I'm now trying to save the day by doing the recommended move - starting a new project with correct settings and importing the original project there.
    But I'm only getting the entire original project sequence as a big block, with no edits or anything available. Is it supposed to be like that? Or is there a way to get all the separate clips, cuts, edits etc when importing?

    Yes if you have a broad landscape - i.e. lots of clients and systems

    User admin will be easier, CUA landscape monitoring will take additional overhead.  Personally I would use say you could save 25% of time when administering users if your landscape is conducive to using CUA. 
    > •How much time to configure each system? 
    Once you have done one, it should take no longer than an hour for each system (less once you get the hang of it)
    > •How much Basis involvement?
    Not much - maybe get them to set up the RFC destinations (specific CUA ones are good, but watch out for people trying to use them for remote CATT execution etc).  Basis may want to schedule the job which processes the userclone idocs in the target system.  It depends how you do things in your place.

    No
    > •Will users benefit from Single Sign On with CUA?
    I will defer to the far more knowledgable Mr Alsop on this one as I haven't a clue

    Usually limited to removing, re-adding in the CUA system.  It may save them time as the users can be pushed out of the master again if required (though will need to reprocess loads of failed idocs when they get locked)

    What do you mean by Virsa? company doesn't exist any more.  If you use compliance calibrator then has no impact at all.  If you use Access Enforcer then there might be, but without knowing what you are doing, it's hard to say.
    > •Are there any known showstopper functionality deficits with CUA that would prevent us from using it
    It can be a bit flakey, though has improved over the years.  It is not a magic pill which will solve all your problems.  You will get frustrated with it.  You have to do change reporting out of the CUA master otherwise you will only get change logs by the idoc processing batch user ID.  You need to keep on top of the idocs and log monitoring.  If you have a simple setup with few clients then might not be worth it.

    I would recommend 3 separate CUA's - one for dev, one for test, one for prod.  Do not have one covering all because if the CUA master goes down for whatever reason then you have extra work.  Assuming R/3 is your main system (with lets say a BW and an APO) then I generally prefer to set the R/3 system as the master as there are usually fewer problems when doing role admin for that client.  That is only a personal preference though & lots of different parties recommend different things.

    Impossible to say without knowing all details of your landscape.  Basically, you should be able to set up and test a reasonably complex CUA in less than a day.

    I don't think so, though CUA should be taken into account as part of the activities

    Yes, BASIS people messing up the CUA config or not doing the post refresh steps they were supposed to do.
    Good luck.  It can be very useful and very frustrating at times.  There are loads of installation guides out there.  As I have said earlier, it will not be the answer to all of your problems and does require extra monitoring.  In a project rampup situation where you have lots of users setup/changing in different clients then it can really help take a bit of the manual processing burden.

  • Hanging on a newly recorded project "Save as"

    We've just started using Captivate2 (v2.0.0) however we've
    already bumped into a repeating serious flaw.
    After recording a short web based software simulation (135
    slides), we attempted to save the project using the usual "Save As"
    option and clicked ok.
    The file gets created (~7MB) in the target directory,
    Captivate shows it's saving and the save bar gets to the end but
    then just hangs using 99% CPU. Using the Task manager process
    window with I/O read,write and other shown, we can see that no data
    is read, written or "other". After a while windows changes the
    title bar to "Not Responding". This doesn't change even after
    leaving it for 2 hours.
    The only option is to end the application.
    On attempting to load the saved project, Captivate states
    that the project is corrupt and then closes - no storyboard is
    displayed.
    The machine is a IBM T42 laptop, 1GB RAM, 10GB free HD space
    running Windows XP and IE 6.0. The rest of windows XP patches are
    uptodate. Laptop screen as primary at 1024x768x16bit and the
    secondary external monitor is at 1280x1024x32bit.
    This is repeatable and first occured during a 26MB file
    (360slide) recording.
    Any one else have this experience?

    Lynne, a few notes for clarification.
    1) You treat my use of the term "thrashing" as though it were
    something I just made up. It is a common term descriptive of rapid
    and repeated accessing of the hard drive in its efforts to perform
    any disk-intensive task, specifically page swapping. The "rev up"
    term that you have chosen to use is called "thrashing" among all PC
    technicians. To quote Webopedia, one of the most respected online
    "technical dictionaries":

    Disk Thrashing:
    In systems that use virtual memory, the resulting condition
    of a hard drive being used excessively for virtual memory because
    the physical memory (i.e., RAM) is full. (The process of moving
    data into and out of virtual memory also is called swapping pages.)
    Disk thrashing considerably slows down the performance of a system
    because data has to be transferred back and forth from the hard
    drive to the physical memory.
    A sure sign that your computer is thrashing is when an
    application stops responding but the disk drive light keeps
    blinking on and off. Thrashing is generally caused by too many
    processes competing for scarce memory resources. To temporarily
    stop thrashing, you need to terminate one or more applications. To
    stop it permanently, you need to install more main memory.
    2) My reference to Production Studio's install size was
    simply to make the point that 10GB "free" space is really very
    little - less than is required to install a large program, and
    certainly not enough
    contiguous free space to facilitate page swapping as would
    be automatically invoked as a function of the OS if physical RAM
    were not sufficient for the computer's requirements.
    3) Of
    course you are being argumentative, but not only do I
    not mind ... I encourage differing points of view if they
    are supported by logic and reason. That's how we all learn.
    4) I am aware of Adobe's system requirements. I am also aware
    that there is a difference between resources required to run the
    application under optimum conditions (often the marketing
    departments' idea of a minimum), and those required to run the
    application comfortably in a day-after-day development environment.
    The answer to your question "
    Why would Adobe only recommend less that half of what (I)
    do?" is - well, no offense, but their goal is to sell software,
    while mine is to use it and advise on it. Adobe isn't lying to you
    (exactly) - but neither am I.
    I will be greatly surprised if Adobe's "official" answer to
    Nick's problem is substantially different than my own ... but like
    all of you, I look forward to seeing their comments.

  • Rotating images in iphoto & screen saver questions

    hi there!!
    i'm a newbie to apple discussions! too bad i didn't find out about it BEFORE i broke the cardinal rule and lost nearly my WHOLE library very comforting to see that i'm not the only one ;_
    anyway, here are my questions:
    1. when i import images into iphoto library, the vertical ones automatically show up in the upright position in the library. BUT when i switch to the edit window they show up sideways. the same is true when i use my iphoto library/folders as a screen saver: even though they are upright in the library, they are being displayed sideways. if i rotate them inside the edit window into the upright position, they show up sideways in my library. it seems like either way i can't win.
    2. when i use iphoto library or any of my albums as a screen saver, the slideshow plays for a little while and then stops. i mean, not longer than 2 or 3 minutes long. and sometimes i won't start at all. any ideas??

    What version of iPhoto 5 are you running? The iPhoto 5.0.4 Updateupdate fixes that problems.

  • 2 project settings questions

    Hello again
    Still experimenting with PrE8 trial version. This is my first experience with a video editor so learning all from scratch. I have a couple of questions regarding the project setting you need to chose when you create a new project. I understand these settings define the "working" enviroment for the editing process - in other words the resolution and all the other characteristics (format, frame rate, etc) that the project will use
    1) I have a camera that´s 1920x1080 30p (progressive) , the GoPro HD. When I look in the new project presets, all 1920 x 1080 presets available seem to be specifically designed for interlaced video. This is indicated by the names of the presets, and by their descriptions as well.  There is only 1 progressive preset, of a lower resolution (720p)
    Nevertheless, I tried using the HD 1080i preset, loaded some 1920x1080 progressive mp4 files, and apparently it works perfectly well. In fact when I go to edit>project settings>general window,  the project attributes indicate progressive video !!!
    Is there really any difference (or specific requirement)  in a project preset for interlaced vs progressive video? ( I am beginning to suspect that there is really no difference,  and that the coding ( i vs p) does not really form part of the project settings, and that the project will take both forms of input media)
    any thoughts on this?
    2) The GoPro has a non-standard resolution mode, HD with 4:3 aspect ratio : 1280x960 30p
    There is no project setting preset that will match this, how can I create one myself ?
    The PrE help says this is possible, but I can't find how. ( Edit>project settings will not let me change the resolution)

    If your source footage requires a custom project preset, you can create one. The procedure for creating a preset differs if you’re changing settings for an open project versus establishing settings for a new project. Presets you create can be applied to new projects, and if you want to back up or distribute  preset files, you can find them in the Settings subfolder of the  Adobe Premiere Elements folder on your hard disk.

    Unfortunately you will not be able to use the video from those "sports" camcorders directly in Premiere Elements. It's just not compatible with the program.

    As you can see from this FAQ, there are three options for converting the video:
    1) Convert it a DV-AVI using MPEG Streamclip. It's a free program, but the DV-AVI it outputs will not be hi-def. It will be standard video, but it will be editable in Premiere Elements.
    2) Convert it to a standard def DV-AVI using Quicktime Pro, a $29 download from Apple.com,and edit in Premiere Elements.
    3) Use Quicktime Pro to do your editing. The video will remain a high-def MP4.
    The best solution, of course, is if the camcorder itself comes with its own editing software. That's software you KNOW will work with the camcorder's footage.
    But, short of that, you'll need to use one of the hybrid solutions above. But you will not be able to edit the footage directly in Premiere Elements. Sorry.

    Upgrading to 8.20 should also help a long way. The project shortcomings in LabVIEW 8.0 that are almost inherent to a new feature of that size have been considerably made better there.
    It is very unlikely that NI is going to develop a standalone tool for LabVIEW 8.0 to be distributed as addon, now 8.20 is out and I do not see someone from the outside stepping up to write such a tool as that is a major task to do and quite thankless since it is already more or less unneccessary on LabVIEW 8.20.

  • Limited navigation in projects with questions

    I have a project with special instruction slides provided to support a number of question slides.  The question slides and quiz preferences are set for one try and one retake.  Students use the skin to navigate back and forth in the project and use the back and submit buttons to work in the questions.  Students do not seem to have unlimited back and forth capabilities.  Once they are in the retake version of the quiz, when they try to go back and get clarification on special instructions, they are blocked from going forward.  Is my only option to separate my instruction slides and question slides into two projects?

    Currently, find the temp file will be created in C:\Documents and Settings\$user_name\Local Settings\Temp in windows.
    I have two questions on temp file.
    1) Does tangosol supply a mechanism to maintain the temp files?
    2) In solaris, which place will the temp file be created in?
