Promote results with exact match to the query text
Hi,
i want to promote to top results where there is exact match to the query text (not results that were found thanks to "Enable stemming" and morphology). Any ideas? maybe a query rule?

Is there a way to promote results with exact match?
Hi,
Is there a way to promote (like add results block or something) results with exact match over results that match?
(when stemming is on, so the search consider also words with morpholgy match, and sometimes display them at the top, and wWe want to put in top of the results a block of results with exact match)
keren tsurHI,
Yes you can promote the result with exact match.....
1. Navigate to the search center
2. Navigate to the search result setting page and click to the Query rule as per your scope.
3. Create the new query rule depend upon your result source.
4. Give the query rule name. Under the Query Condition-> select "Advanced Query Text Match"-> Select Option that you want form matches input->Make the Check box "Entire Query Matches Exactly".
5. Create the promoted results and Result block as per your description.
6. save the Query rule and apply the query rule to your search vertical.

Hi,
Can anyone please help me in creating the Custom Search box with below mentioned functionality
"The search box will allow up to 60 alphanumeric characters.User can input a minimum of 1 character and the system will pull back an exact match on the sequence entered"Hi Pradeep,
Find the complete JQuery AutoComplete function with along with different events in it like focus, select, open and close. You can modify this code as per your requirement.
$("#ddlSearchTextBox").autocomplete({
source: function (request, response) {
var getUrl = "<site URL>";
$.ajax({
url: getUrl,
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
data: {
featureClass: "P",
style: "full",
maxRows: 10
dataFilter: function (data, type) {
return data.replace(/\\'/g, "'");
success: function (data) {
response($.map(data.d, function (result) {
return {
label: result.Last_Name + ", " + result.First_Name,
value: result.id
focus: function (event, ui) {
$("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
return false;
minLength: 1,
select: function (event, ui) {
$("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
return false;
open: function () {
$("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-all").addClass("ui-corner-top");
close: function () {
$("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-top").addClass("ui-corner-all");
Let us know if you need any further.

I have a no code sandbox solution, in a content by search web part, I want to return pages from the library except the page I am visiting.
I have 2 pages:
Page A, the title is: Page title without special character
Page B, the title is: Page title with special character "a b c d ..."
And then I use Title<>{Page.Title} in the query text of the CSWP.
While I visit Page A, the CSWP returns Page B, it works as expected.
But while I visit Page B, the CSWP returns nothing, expected result should be Page A. I just consider, whether the special characters in the Title of Page B breaks the query text.
I can not find similar topics in the forum, Does anyone have idea?
Many thanks!Thank you for your feedback, Daniel.
I have some updates, and found the root cause: if the field value contains special characters, the CSWP will not render the double quotation marks around the field value.
View the page html source, and then find the text "QueryModification", you will see what happen:
Query Text Input: Title<>{Page.Title}
1. While the page title is "Test Page 1" (without special character), the rendered query text is
Title<>\"Test Page 1\". It works as expected.
2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1" (with special character "-", of cause we have more special characters on production), the rendered query text is
Title<>Test-Page-1. The double quotation marks are not rendered by the CSWP, so the query text are broken. It does not work as expected.
If I make the query text as Title<>"{Page.Title}"
1. While the page title is "Test Page 1", the rendered query text is
Title<>\"\"Test Page 1\"\". It does NOT work since the
quotes are duplicated (no sure why CSWP duplicates the quota mark),
2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1", the rendered query text is
Title<>\"Test-Page-1\". Quotes are correct, but it does NOT work as expected still.
The expected rendered query text (view from the html source) should be
Title<>\"Test\\\-Page\\\-1\". (Here is test url: <a href="http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10">http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10)
From the above information, I can say the CSWP not handle the special character correctly ("\" is not inserted before any special charactor).
Is there any setting in CSWP can be used to resolve above problem? -

One option is as follows:
(1) Turn the auditing on: AUDIT_TRAIL = true in init.ora
(2) Restart the instance if its running.
(3) Audit the table:
AUDIT INSERT,SELECT,DELETE,UPDATE on TableName
by ACCESS WHENEVER SUCCESSFUL

Is this the calendar subscription search screen or the attendee search screen?
A number of the searches are controlled by the calendar ics.conf file. So try matching the directory access entry which relates to your search to the appropriate string in ics.conf and that should provide a guide as to what needs to be changed.

CONTAINS() with exact match returns a 0
Hi all, hope someone can help with this urgent problem!
Our DB has a simple XMLTYPE at itemheader.xheader. A regular Oracle Text index has just been created on it. We are looking to match strings against the node that matches //Identifier[@Type="AN"]
So, when you run this query:
SELECT
CONTAINS(xheader, 'BAGCHEE2-07162 INPATH(//Identifier[@Type="AN"])', 1) as hastheAN,
EXTRACT(ih.xheader, '//Identifier[@Type="AN"]/text()').getStringVal() AS theAN FROM itemheader ih
WHERE itemid = 25985144
you get
HASTHEAN 0
THEAN BAGCHEE2-07162
So, this shows that for the given row, the node exists in xheader and has the requested value - but CONTAINS returns 0 !!
Also when you run something like
SELECT itemid
,EXTRACT(ih.xheader,'//Identifier[@Type="AN"]/text()').getStringVal() AS theAN
, SCORE(1)
FROM itemheader ih
WHERE
CONTAINS(xheader, 'BAGCHEE2-07162 INPATH(//Identifier[@Type="AN"])', 1)>0
AND EXTRACT(ih.xheader, '//Identifier[@Type="AN"]/text()').getStringVal() LIKE 'BAGCHEE2-0716%'
ORDER BY theAN
you get the following:
25984701 BAGCHEE2-07160 11
39382849 BAGCHEE2-07161 11
39383043 BAGCHEE2-07163 11
39386596 BAGCHEE2-07164 11
etc...
So - there are many inexact matches with a positive SCORE but for the one row that should match exactly (..07162) it is not returned.
Anyone know what is up with this? We only need the one exact match but can't get it -
thankswell finally found out that the syntax of the text parameter passed to contains was treating the '-' to mean "discount if the following text matches" so it was returning everything except that. Putting the text inside {} works, like {BAGCHEE2-07162}

Need Help with instr/Regexp for the query

As per my requirement the record number 2 3,4 should be listed from the query but I am getting only one (record 3).
Can we use REG_EXP
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

I have some student responses and the valid values are +/-/O(alphabet)/P and spaces at the end of the sting only not in the middle.Are you combining the responses to several qeustions in one VARCHAR2 column? It might be better to have a separate row for each question.
As per my requirement the record number 2 3,4 should be listed from the query but I am getting only one (record 3). What exactly is your requirement? Are you trying to find the rows where student_response contains any of the forbidden characters, or where it contains a space anywhere but at the end of the string?
Can we use REG_EXPYes, but it's easy enough, and probably more efficient, to not use regular expressions in this case:
Here's one way:
SELECT record_number
, student_response
FROM x
WHERE TRANSLATE ( UPPER ( RTRIM (student_response, ' '))
, 'X+-OP'
, 'X'
) IS NOT NULL
;That is, once you remove trailing spaces and all occurrences of '+', '-', 'O' or 'P', then only the forbidden characters are left, and you want to select the row if there are any of those.
If you really, really want to use a regular expression:
SELECT record_number
, student_response
FROM x
WHERE REGEXP_LIKE ( RTRIM (student_response)
, '[^-+OP]' -- or '[^+OP-]', but not '[^+-OP]'. Discuss amongst yourselves
, 'i'
;but, I repeat, this will probably be slower than the first solution, using TRANSLATE.

The following is slightly simpler than TRANSLATE:
SELECT record_number
, student_response
FROM x
WHERE RTRIM ( UPPER ( RTRIM (student_response, ' '))
, '+-OP'
) IS NOT NULL

Strange results with Insert statement having select query
Hi all,
I am facing a strange issue with Insert statement based on a select query having multiple joins.
DB- Oracle 10g
Following is the layout of my query -
Insert into Table X
Select distinct Col1, Col2, Col3, Col4, Function(Col 5) from Table A, B
where trunc(updated_date) > = trunc(sysdate-3)
and join conditions for A, B
Union
Select Col1, Col2, Col3, Col4, Function(Col 5) from Table C, D
trunc(updated_date) > = trunc(sysdate-3)
and join conditions for C, D
Union
.... till 4 unions. all tables are residing in the local Database and not having records more than 50,000.
If I execute above insert in a DBMS job, it results into suppose 50 records where as if I execute the select query it gives 56 records.
We observed following things-
a) no issue with size of tablespace
b) no error while inserting
c) since query takes lot of time so we have not used Cursor and PLSQL block for inserting.
d) this discrepancy in number of records happens frequently but not everytime.
e) examined the records left out from the insert, there we couldn't find any specific pattern.
f) there is no constraint on the table X in which we are trying to insert. Also tables A, B, C....
I went through this thread -SQL insert with select statement having strange results but mainly users are having either DB Links or comparison of literal dates, in my case there is none.
Can somebody explain why is the discrepancy and what is the solution for it.
Or atleast some pointers how to proceed with the analysis.

Updated query and added more details>
Since I am using Trunc() in the where clause so timing should not matter much. Also I manually ruled out records which were updated after the job run.
>
The first rule of troubleshooting is to not let your personal opinion get in the way of finding out what is wrong.
Actually this code, and the process it represents, is the most likely CAUSE of the problem.
>
where trunc(updated_date) > = trunc(sysdate-3)
>
You CANNOT reliably use columns like UPDATED_DATE to select records for processing. Your process is flawed.
The value of that column is NOT the date/time that the data was actually committed; it is the date/time that the row was populated.
If you insert a row into a table right now, using SYSDATE (8am on 3/5/2013) and don't commit that row until April your process will NEVER see that 3/5/2013 date until April.
Here is the more typical scenario that I see all the time.
1. Data is inserted/updated all day long on 3/4/2013.
2. A column, for example UPDATED_DATE is given a value of SYSDATE (3/4/2013) in a query or by a trigger on the table.
3. The insert/update query takes place at 11:55 PM - so the SYSDATE values are for THE DAY THE QUERY BEGAN
4. The data pull begins at 12:05 am (on 3/5/2013 - just after midnight)
5. The transaction is COMMITTED at 12:10 AM (on 3/5/2013); 5 minutes after the data pull began.
That data extract in step 4 will NEVER see those records! They DO NOT EXIST when the data pull query is executed since they haven't been committed.
Even worse, the next nights data pull will not see them either! That is because the next pull will pull data for 3/5/2013 but those records have a date of 3/4/2013. They will never get processed.
>
Job timing is 4am and 10pm EST
>
Another wrinkle is when data is inserted/updated from different timezones and the UPDATED_DATE value is from the CLIENT pc or server. Then you can get even more data missed since the client dates may be hours different than the server date used for the data pull process.
DO NOT try to use UPDATED_DATE type columns to do delta extraction or you can have this issue. -
Issue with compounding characteristics in the query
Hello guyz
I have an issue with 2 chars one compounding the other in the query. The 2 chars are : Action Type and Action Reason in HR. Action type is the compounding char. for action reason.
For example: we have
Action Type Action Reason
01 A1
01 A2
02 A1
02 A2
Now I want to restrict a key figure based on specific action reasons and types. But when I pick AT: 01, AR: A1, it selects AT: 02, AR: A1. The reason why it does this is because, there are 2 A1s under action reason and it picks the one at the end (ie last record with value A1 in the table)
But my compounding works when i create variables for the same and have them as user entry variables.
My question: How do i pick specific action reasons for specific action types (for restricting key figures) in the above example?
Thanks.Well.. thank you Ashish for your help so far.
Now, these Chars. are coming directly from a data source to the cube. From my previous example again, the thing that i dont understand is:
When i try restrict the KF with AR, on the left hand side of the pop up window i see:
AR
[01, A1] --> Very good
[01, A2] --> Good
[02, A3[ --> OK
[02, A4] --> Bad
[02, A1] --> Very Bad
But, when i drag 'A1' (Very Good) to restrict on the KF on the right hand side of the window, I only get:
A1 (Very good), what i want to drag is [01, A1] --> very good.. action type value should come along with action reason.. right??
when i save the query, logout and log back in, I see:
A1 (Very Bad)
Question: Why dosen't Action type char come along with action reason on the right hand side.. its a compounding char right?? So it should determine what value action reason takes?
Any idea?? -

REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY with editable field -- Get the short text
Hi everybody,
I would like to know if you can resolve the following problem:
I have an editable column in my ALV grid with a match code. When the user choise the value in the range, this value is displayed in the grid. But I would like to display the short text and not the fix value like actually.
Have you got an idea?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
RobinYou could add another column for the text and change it's contents when the editable field changes.

Interactive Report with union all in the query
I have an interactive report with the following query in the report region:
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
from journal_entries
union all
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
from charge_entries;
This gets translated as listed below during runtime. I am trying to pass a value to both SELECT statements instead of the just the bottom select statement. Is this possible using interactive reports.
select
PROPERTY,
SADDR1,
UPOSTDATE,
SOTHERDATE1,
ACCOUNT,
SDESC,
UREF,
SUSERDEFINED1,
TRANS_NOTES,
SAMOUNT,
DETAIL_NOTES,
"JOURNAL_CONTROL-1000000000" "JOURNAL_CONTROL-1000000000"
from (
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
from journal_entries
union all
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
from charge_entries
) r
where ("PROPERTY" = :APXWS_EXPR_1)
0.14: IR binding: ":APXWS_EXPR_1"="APXWS_EXPR_1" value="prop1"
Thanks for any help,
JimThe bottom query is actually the third query, it encompasses the two that are unioned. It is generated by APEX to allow for the search facility - to achieve what you want ignore the larger query, and get your query working in something like SQL developer. Once it's working then put it into APEX, and the search wrapper will be generated.
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
from journal_entries
where property = :YOUR_CRITERIA
union all
select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
from charge_entries
where property = :YOUR_CRITERIA;
Then you need to think about how you are using the report, if it is linked to from another report, then create a hidden variable and pass it from the parent.
If the report is standalone , then you could create an item , that can be edited and when submitted, re-executes the report based on the criteria entered.
