Protect workbook from authorized user

I have created a workbook Z_WB_TEST in BEx Analyser. I want to protect my workbook so that authorized user can't do modification in my wookbook. I want othe user can only change variable value and run that workbook and save it. Other than this he should not do any changes like delete, hide row column etc.
I want this type facility because a user  will provide me report after executing workbook Z_WB_TEST.
Kindly help me.
regards
nk

The Object S_USER_AGR controls access to the workbooks and folders (roles created as folders). Once you have created your workbook, save it to a role folder (you should have the role folder assigned to your user ID in order to save the workbook to it). you should have access to S_USER_AGR where as the other users whould be assigned the role in which you have saved the workbook, BUT NO ACCESS to object S_USER_AGR.
This way, they can open up the work book change the variables on the selection screen (depending on the analysis authorizations that are assigned to them) and execute the report.
Please note that for the workbook to refresh everytime with current date you need to toggle a setting on Bex Analyzer.

Prashant

  • Copy some workbooks from one user to other

    Hi!
    How can I copy (not share) some workbooks from one user to other?
    The reason to do this is because we are renaming users to other naming pattern.
    Thanks!

    You would first need to share the workbooks you want to transfer ownership of to either the new user name, or a responsibility that the new user has (I am assuming this is an Oracle Applications EUL). The user signs on to Discoverer Plus with their new name. They open up the workbook(s) and then do a SAVE AS. That will save the workbook with them as the new owner. You would then need to sign on with the old owner's name and delete those old workbooks (after first backing them up) once you are sure everything is working okay. Yes, this is a yucky process. What we do is we use a "dummy" user name when we create/modify workbooks. That way the dummy user name is the owner of the workbooks. So it does not matter if a person leaves or if you change user naming conventions. If you have a lot of users creating workbooks, then a dummy user name may not work well. You could always submit an enhancement request to Oracle for a copy function. I expect you would get a lot of customers supporting such a request.

  • How to copy discoverer workbooks from one user to another user

    I need to be able to copy all workbooks from one user and save them in a shareable user account. The request is being made by his manager (in preparation for the user's retirement) so I need to do it without the user's knowledge. The manager wants to ensure that all workbooks are copied. For example, can the DBA copy all workbooks of schema JOHNDOE to APPLEX. We are using  Oracle Database 10.2.0.5.0 and Discoverer 10.1.2.3 in the Windows environment.

    Robert
    Are these workbooks saved in the database or on a file server somewhere? If its the latter you just need to copy them to another location.
    If they are saved to the database you can export them using the Admin tool but I have a feeling you will only be able to do this if you have access to them: aka they have been shared with you. So here's several ideas:
    1. Grant JOHNDOE and APPLEX access to be an administrator then log on as JOHNDOE in the Admin tool and use File | Export | Selected Objects | Workbooks and export ALL workbooks owned by JOHNDOE. Then you log in as APPLEX and import the workbooks this time taking ownership. Now you can share them with whoever else needs them. You will need to make sure that APPLEX has access to the same business areas as JOHNDOE. When done you can revoke the admin rights of JOHNDOE.
    2. If you don't know JOHNDOE's password you could export the entire EUL to a file. For example if you EUL is owned by a user called EUL_US then create another database user called EUL_US_TEMP and install an empty EUL as a Private EUL, not Public. Then you grant APPLEX permission to be an administrator of this new EUL. Next you log in as APPLEX in the new EUL and import the EUL you exported earlier, this time also taking ownership of all workbooks only if the original owner cannot be found.You'll find that APPLEX has access to ALL workbooks not just those originally owned by JOHNDOE so next you have to work out which ones were originally owned by JOHNDOE. You can do this in SQL by examining the file called EUL5_DOCUMENTS in the original EUL and look for all documents owned by JOHNDOE. Now that you know the names of the documents you log back into the new EUL as APPLEX and export only the workbooks you want to a separate export file. With that done you can log in as APPLEX into the original EUL and import that file this time always taking ownership. Finally you can drop the EUL_US_TEMP schema.
    Hope this helps

  • How to copy BEx Workbooks from one user's favourites to another user's

    Is there a way to copy BEx Workbooks (Excel Analyzer) from one user's 'Favourites' to another user's Favourites?
    A user is away on vacation and we need to get at a couple of workbooks that are stored only in that user's Favourites. We do not have access to that user's user id and password.
    We’re on BW version 3.5.

    Thanks Ravi.
    We are aware that if a workbook is assigned to a Role then other users can access the workbook.
    In order to assign the workbook to a Role, we need to be able to see it in the first place.
    The workbook is currently saved only in a specific user's Favourites, and that user is away on vacation. We can not assign it to a Role unless we sign on as that user. We do not have the user's logonid and password.
    So we are still interested in finding out how to copy from that user's Favourites, perhaps via a program or via the Administrator Workbench.

  • Issue accessing workbook from user menu.

    Hi,
    We are facing an issue in opening the workbook from the User menu.
    Workbook is working fine if we open it directly from BEx Analyzer but its not opening the workbook report when we click it from the user menu link.
    This issue started coming when we upgraded the microsoft excel from 2003 to 2007.
    Any information related to it would be helpful.
    Regards,
    Neha Maheshwari

    Neha,
    We have had several issues similar running SAP BW 7.0 with BEx 3.5 workbooks after upgrading to Excel 2007. There are several SAP Notes concerning various Excel 2007 related errors. Most of these seem to be bundled in the just-released SAP BEx 3.5 Add-On Patch 7 for SAPGUI 710, so my advice would be to download this patch if you have not done so already.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to remove workbook from user's list

    hi,
    we are using oracle discoverer with oracle applications 11i. There is an oracle application user M that had several workbooks shared with other users.M is no longer working in the company and I need to withdraw his workbooks from the user X. I signed in to oracle discoverer using his user name and I found only one shared workbook with user X, while there are many more. My user is the only one that has all the shared workbooks displayed.
    Any hint what is going on?
    thank you...

    Hi,
    User X will be able to see workbooks owned by user M if either M has shared the workbook with X or M has shared the workbook with the responsibility that X has used to connect to Discoverer.
    So maybe M has shared workbooks a responsibility rather than with X.

  • Could not able to access workbook from the favorites of User Menu

    Hi all,
    I have got a problem in accessing Workbook from the User menu (SAP GUI) Favorites.
    I added a workbook to my favorites but now when i double click on the Workbook from my USER MENU (SAP GUI),
    BEX is opening and the connection is also maintained but the workbook is not appearing in the BEX.
    I checked in SU53 and this is not related to any authorization issues.
    Could anyone help me in solving this issue and
    providing ?

    I can't aunderstand why it happens, but try adding the workbook to a role and assign the role to your user.
    Hope it helps.

  • Find query technical name for a deleted query/workbook in the User Menu

    Hi,
    When a BEx workbook or BEx query is published in a role, people with that role will see the query / workbook in their user menu.
    It is possible to change the caption/title of the 'node' in the user menu so it does not necessarily have the same name as the report.
    I am now in a situation where a user tries to run a query/workbook from the user menu, and runs in an error message 'query does not exist on server'.
    How can I found out to which query/workbook a node in the user menu refers?
    I have tried the Metadata repository but because of the many nodes in the user menu this is a laborious task.
    I was hoping to find a table where I could use the role name and node name to find the 'target' report but I haven't been able to find such a table.
    Any (other) suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Jan.

    Hi,
    You can publish the workbook to the role and as user have access to the role he can access the workbook also.

  • Protect the adf url from anonymous users

    Hi All,
    How can i protect my adf application url from anonymous users?Please give me your valuable suggestions.

    Have you read about ADF Security in the documentation?

  • How to use different mail address in "from" and "user" property?

    I'd like to use the user enter mail address as the "from" property and use my mail account to send it, but I got error: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 553 You are not authorized to send mail, authentication is required when set different mail address in "from" and "user" property, how to resolve this problem?

    Basically that's a bad idea. Suppose you used your server to send messages that claimed to come from "[email protected]"? Naturally enough people have tried that, either as a joke or as an attempt at fraud, so that servers will check to see if the message is coming from the server it claims to be coming from. And if it isn't -- as in that example -- it will consider it a forgery. Best case (for you) is that the server will flag it as spam or junk. Worst case is that your server will be blacklisted and other servers will ignore it.

    I'll make a stab at your question:
    The following is an example of where a URL is protected within a web.xml deployment descriptor. In this example, the URL /protectedA within the application is protected:

    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>protectedA</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/protectedA</url-pattern>

  • Transfer music from one user account to another on the SAME mac?

    My family (wife, son, daughter, and me) share an imac but we all have our own user accounts. Our entire itunes music library is in one user account and is getting to the point of being unmanageable.
    Can I move some of my itunes library (e.g., my son's music) to another user account on the same iMac? Some songs were imported from CD and others were purchased from my Apple ID number.
    It's my understanding that an ipod can only be synced with one itunes library at a time, but I thought Apple also restricted the usage of music bought from itunes to a finite number of computers. If this is true, I think I would be able to transfer a group of songs from one user account to another so long as the user accounts were on the same computer.
    I was told that I could just drag the songs into a shared folder and then log into his account and drop them in iTunes.
    Some specific questions:
    1) Can I move all music files (CD and purchased) to the shared folder for dropping into his account?
    2)The purchased ones were purchased under MY apple ID which I do not want to give him access to. Should I create one for him or just have him use mine and wait for my password. I would like to put an allowance on his new ID number and keep it separate from mine. Would that make a difference in the future if I wanted to use one of his songs on my iPod or in an iMovie project?
    I just reinstalled my Lepoard OS X and put all my data back. I did not deauthorize anything before I did this. Did I need to? Or is even a clean install on the SAME machine ok and seen as the same authorization?
    Thanks in advance!!

    You can give him copies of song files, either by using a shared folder, or by putting the copies on a USB flash drive from which he can copy them to his own iTunes library.
    Any DRM-protected tracks that you have purchased from Apple can only be played if the user has authorization to the account(s) from which the tracks were purchased. Authorization requires physical access to the computer and knowledge of the password, and you can figure it from there!

  • How to open a defult workbook from Discoverer Plus

    Hi all,
    Is it possible in Discoverer Plus for a user to open a pre defined worksheet in a workbook when he logs in without having to select the workbook and then select the worksheet?
    Please advise how to achive this.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Yjk

    Hi Yjk
    This is possible but you will have to alter the URL call to do it and add the workbook name to the end of the URL.
    You can use either the names of workbooks and worksheet or unique IDs of workbooks and worksheets. Using unique IDs is easier and helps avoid encoding problems with long names. Unique IDs are language independent. The following are the URL parameters to use while working with workbooks and worksheets.
    Discoverer Plus Relational:
    Workbooks:
    opendbid=<workbook ID>
    opendbname=<workbook name>
    Worksheets:
    sheetid=<worksheet ID>
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer Viewer:
    Workbook:
    wbk=<workbook ID>
    wb=<workbook name>
    Worksheet:
    wsk=<worksheet ID>
    ws=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer OLAP:
    Workbooks:
    workbookname=<workbookname>
    Worksheets:
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Note: Discoverer Plus OLAP uses only workbook and worksheet names.
    Examples below:
    How to Find the Unique IDs of Workbooks and Worksheets
    To find the unique ID of a workbook, use thie workflow:
    1. Launch the Open Workbook from Database wizard
    2. Right-click the workbook name
    3. Select Properties.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the workbook.
    Alternatively, when the workbook is open, select File | Workbook Properties.
    To find the unique ID of a worksheet, use this workflow:
    1. With the worksheet open, select Edit | Worksheet Properties
    2. The Worksheet Properties dialog box opens.
    3. Click the General tab.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the worksheet.
    The following URL starts Discoverer Viewer and opens a worksheet with the unique ID "156", which is present in the workbook whose unique ID is "MONTHLY_SALES". The connection ID used is "cf_a101".
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer?cn=cf_a101&wbk=MONTHLY_SALES&wsk=156
    If the connection that is used here is a private connection, the user will be prompted for the password.
    In Plus, the same command is:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a101&opendbname=MONTHLY_SALES&sheet=156
    Does this help?
    Regards
    Michael
