Protective case for new ipad

     I have just bought my first iPad - the new iPad (iPad 3?) - and am looking for protective casing that protects the back as well, rather than just the screen that Apple currently have to offer.
     Looking on Amazon.co.uk I came across the G-Hub GeniusCover (black carbon fibre style case cover folio) which you can slip the iPad into, and is designed to allow full functionality, together with flip-stand function and magnetic sleep sensor.
     The reviews are pretty well universally positive and, apart from being less than half the price of the Apple just screen protection, it would seem to offer ideal protection.
     Does anyone have any opinions or advice to offer?

For my iPad 2, I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. The keyboard is easier to use than Apple's on-screen keyboard. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price. About the same price as Apple's covers & it covers the whole iPad. Although the new iPad  is slightly thicker, it also fits it.

  • What is best iPad case for new iPad?

    I have a cover that works the on/off but have tried a cygnet cover that doesn't activate the on/off.  I need more protection for travel and wanted a case instead.

    A case is a very personal choice, and there are many to choose from.
    I have the Executive Leather case from Yoobao.  You can get them here:
    http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Executive-Leather-Smart-Cover-Case-for-New-Apple-iPad- 3-YBNEWIPADEX.htm
    It's made of leather and comes in 6 colors.  The cover works the sleep/wake function, and the case provides substantial protection to all sides of the iPad.  The cover portion can also function as a stand.  It's also thin, so it does not add any additional bulk to the iPad itself.  Highly recommended.

  • Case for new iPad

    Just got my new iPad. Walked up to the Apple store and was in and out in 5 mins. I ordered a clip-type case that was advertised as fitting both the iPad 2 and iPad 3. But it does not fit. Does anyone know of a clip-type case to protect the back (I'm using the Apple smart cover for the front)? Preferably white? Thanks.

  • Best case for New iPad?

    what case are you getting for the new iPad?

    You can try this, they confirmed it fits the new ipad and works with ipad 2 as well. I chose it coz it has a hard back to protect my new baby and a foldable front cover to stand.

  • What is a good protective case for the ipad 4th gen?

    Hi,
    I recently bought my first iPad (ipad 4). I want to get a protective case in case I drop it. Some of the features I want include, 360 degree viewing angle, auto wake and sleep (doesn’t have to have this but would be nice) I don’t want big case like the otter box cases. I want a folio case with different viewing angles.
    the reason i want it to rotate is because i want to record lectures. so if you know of any cases let me know!
    if you could help me out that would be great! I have been researching for over a week! You guys have never failed me before!
    is the ipad smart COVER offer any protection?
    Thanks
    Austin

    For drop protection, you aren't going to get much better than the Otter, but yes it will add some bulk to the iPad (really any high level drop protection case will). That isn't to say other cases will not offer some protection against dropping, but not as effective. The Apple Smart cover offers no back protection at all, and the Smart Case only minimal.
    Not sure what you mean by "360 degree viewing angle" or why it would matter. Any case offering a portrait and a landscape orientation should work. (also not so sure how effective at recording lectures the iPad would be). There are literally hundreds of polio type cases available. Most will offer a number of angles in landscape mode, but fewer for portrait mode.
    Even some fairly inexpensive folio cases offer the smart cover function.
    I would recommend a trip to a full service electronics store such as Best Buy and have a look yourself. Really the only way you will be able to make a decision.

  • Best protective case for the iPad?

    Which is the best case protect the iPad?

    In my experience the Lifeproof Case offers the best all around protection from both drops and water. It is quite bulky so it is definatley not for everyone but if you are afraid of damage it might be the right choice for you.

  • Drop protection case for ipad 2

    Since I have dropped my ipod touch a few times (fortunately inside a protective case), I think I better have a sturdy case for the ipad 2 as well.
    What is the best case to protect the ipad 2 against drops? Perhaps something like the otterbox (they only have ipad 1 case)? Bulky is not a problem since I use it mainly at home. I will shop for an outdoor case later.

    My experience with my Kindle is that these tablet-like devices can be slippery, even in a case. You tend to carry them around in your hand, nestled in with your papers or books,, while juggling a drink in the other.  I've fumbled and then drop-kicked my Kindle several times, as often open while reading as when transporting it from room to room.
    It seems counter-intuitive, but the hard leather case on my Kindle is the goldvstandard in cases for me. The stiff, wrap around leather case
    1.  absorbs drop shock at the corner beautifully & it protects well.
    2.  It can be bent double, like breaking the spine of a book, so that you can grasp both the case AND the device in one hand
    3.  It has a positive mechanical lock on the edge of the device to ensure the cover never comes off in a drop.
    So far I haven't found a great iPad case that both offers a high degree of protection to the device but is unobtrusive to use.  The forthcoming Otterbox look quite protective but also clumsy to use.

  • EP-630: protection case and new earb

    I'm not sure if to post here or in speaker systems.Anyway... I want to buy a protection case for the earphones EP-630. Could someone suggest me how to protect my earphone?And where to buy some new earbuds? I saw in the forum that someone contacted Cat!Thanks

    Enough protection from what? Being dropped? No. General wear and tear. Sure. I don't use it for holding up the iPad for typing so I can't aswer that.

  • Protective cases for iPhones

    Two protective cases for iPhones are 1) Lifeproof and 2) Otterbox Defender series. Does anyone have acquaintance with both these cases? If so, is one better than the other? Or is there some other case that is better than either of those? Thank you for the assessment and suggestions.

    The iPhone 5 Otterbox Defender case is very nice and is a big improvement over their 4/4S case. The new one is much slimmer and better feeling in the hand, though it's still a BIG CASE.
    The Lifeproof case isn't quite as physically rugged as the Otterbox, but it is water resistant where the Otterbox isn't.  The Lifeproof case can be used in the shower or even swimming if you keep it above six feet of water. There are some reports that individual Lifeproof cases can muffle sound quality fairly badly (while others don't), but the Otterbox doesn't have those issues as it leaves the speaker ports relatively unobstructed. The Lifeproof case is also much slimmer than the Otterbox while providing a large degree of protection.
    Griffin's Survivor series cases are generally as rugged as either of the above, but I don't recall it being waterproof.
    There are a number of other cases with a high impact resistance rating out there, but I'd probably stick with one of those three mentioned above, myself.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Protective case for ipod touch

    Im interested in learning about protective cases for the 8gb touch. Im especially interested in a hard, clear case. Any suggestions?

    I have a protective screen thing, too, which is great. No bubbles, and if you're careful when you put it on, no dust. I can't even tell it's there.
    BUT, while that adequately protects from scratches, I don't feel it does anything in the way of protecting the thing if it's dropped, and it certainly wouldn't protect the screen if it got banged against something in my purse. Those are my concerns. So, I have it in a clear, hard, plastic case. DLO, got it from Best Buy. Like the one mentioned above, but I don't have a pop-out stand - instead it has little rubber grippy things on the back so that it doesn't slide around if I lay it down. In addition to that, I put it in another, cloth, case that protects it somewhat from being hit by the sharp edge of something and has a strap I can put around my wrist). Even that isn't what I really want - what I want to get is something that puts a hard cover right in front of the screen, to keep it from being cracked.
    And for the person who mentioned a couple of days ago that s/he doesn't put it in a case because it's not a precious jewel - having a case has saved me at least twice when I've dropped my iPod onto the asphalt next to my car. Just makes me feel better. I don't need my iPod to look perfect for always, but I would like it to continue to function, and I'm the first to admit that my purse isn't the safest place for fragile things

    Slightly different opinion than Snn5, no disrespect intended.

    Very low profile. Adds just the right amount of grip, without being bulky. Probably would not protect the phone much from a drop, but this will prevent it leaving your hands.
