Proxy settings with HttpURLConnection

My program starts 2 threads.
Thread A sets 2 system properties - https.proxyHost, https.proxyPort and makes a https request (needs to go through proxy) to WebApp1 using HttpURLConnection.
Thread B unsets those 2 system properties and makes a http request (doesn't need to use proxy) to WebApp2 using HttpURLConnection.
I am correct in doing the above?
I am getting the following exception occassionally.

Please help me.

We have a proxy configuration that requieres the input of an user and a password. If we try to update the Creator, we get the error 'Unable to connect to the Update Center Server. Check proxy settings ...'.
If I remember well, the first time I tried the update feature, I think I got a pop up window to input the user and the password for the proxy. But now I get always the error message. If we shut down the proxy it works fine.
Today I tried the 'GoogleSearch' demo application and the same problen occures.
Thanks for information

  • Firefox proxy settings with OD users

    I need to add a proxy setting to firefox on 50 OD bound clients, firefox being the annoyance that it is doesn't pickup the sys prefs settings, anyone know how I can add the proxy setting remotely via WGM perhaps?
    thanks in advance

    Hi
    Firefox keeps its settings in /Users/Home/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/mixofnumbersandletters.default/prefs.js. This file does not lend itself too easily for use in Workgroup Manager's Preferences Manifest.
    What you could do - which is what I sometimes do - is to configure the Proxy Settings first on one client workstation. You could do this either one of two ways; keying about:config in Firefox itself or simply amending the Network Settings. This should 'write' the relevant information you want. Copy the prefs.js file to the Desktop. Quit out of Firefox and delete the User's Firefox Profile from the Application Support folder. Right click or Control Click on the Firefox application itself and select show Package Contents. Drill down through the Contents folder to the MacOS folder. Keep on going through the defaults folder. In there you should see a profile folder with an existing prefs.js. Overwrite this with the one on the Desktop. Now re-launch Firefox. Any user (local or otherwise) will receive those settings as default as they are set by the Application rather than by the User.
    All you have to do now is copy the Firefox application to all of your clients. Which you could a number of ways. Copy the application to a pencil stick or CD and walk round each client in turn and copying the amended Firefox Application to the Applications folder. Or use the Copy command in ARD. Or prepare the client workstation you did this all on as a NetRestore Image and image the remaining workstations.

  • VPN Proxy Settings With Third Party Software

    Im just wondering if this is possible. When I go to university I've setup a VPN connection and inside of that I've put proxy settings for the available protocols. HTTP, socks, etc.
    Well all software built into os x (itunes, safari) use these proxy settings automatically when connected to the VPN. So when I go to uni I click one button to connect and that's it.
    What Im wondering: Is it possible for third party software (Firefox, IRC clients) to grab these proxy settings from the VPN? At the moment I'm having to manually add the proxies to these apps every time I go to uni, then disable them when I go home.

    Many users have found Authoxy to be the solution for most proxy issues.

  • Bypassing Firewall/Proxy Settings with Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
    The company that I work for has given us Dreamweaver CS3 and
    it's great, however we have a problem with the companies firewall
    blocking Dreamweaver from seeing external images when in "Design"
    view. I have search throughout Google for a solution and have yet
    to find one. I come here in the hopes that someone can help. Our IT
    department has told me that the firewall solution they use does not
    allow rule sets per application, so they cannot just say "allow
    this program to use the web". This leaves me in a tough spot, but
    they said in Dreamweaver CS3 has a way to setup a proxy and allow
    it to bypass our firewall that would make this quick and easy. Does
    DW have something like this, and if so then please point me in the
    right direction!
    I appreciate all assistance.
    Regards,
    John

    Maybe not per application but certainly by PC or IP adress.
    Can they put
    your IP adress in a rule less agressif.

  • Proxy Settings with UserID/PWD

    Our corporate network uses a uid/pwd validation when going through the proxy. How do I set that up in Creator?
    I can't access the Update Center since I don't see any way to enter them.
    Thanks.

    Thanks RK,
    But my problem is more about the proxy server needing uid/pwd validation. I know which proxy server to go to and what port. But, there seems to be no way from Creator to enter the uid/pwd needed to go through the proxy server.
    Thanks for trying to help out though, I appreciate it.
    Regards.

  • N97 MfE Proxy Settings

    N97
    Firmware v11.0.021 15/06/2009
    MfE 2.09.162
    MfE works when I use a WiFi access point, but it doesnt work when I use packet data access point
    My packet data access point is a corporate APN, and that APN uses a Proxy to connect to the Internet
    MfE trouble shooting guide suggests that you should not use Proxy settings with MfE
    N97 connects to the data access point, but fails to establish connection through the Proxy to our corporate Exchange server, get error message in the MfE logs 'HTTP Server Error 408 Request Timeout'
    A colleague has same problem with an N95, however an E series phone does work
    Is this a problem only with N series
    Help appreciated

    The N97 mini doesn't support animated screensaver. I tried using a gif image as wallpaper but I wasn't rewarded with a fanciful screen. But what the heck, animation will just increase the demand for my battery power. I'm fine without it.

  • I use the proxy settings add-on in Firefox to access my company server. However, I updated Firefox this morning to the latest version. Now this add-on doesn'tl.

    I used the proxy settings add-on to access the company server and wi-fi with my Android 2.36 phone.
    This morning I updated Firefox. The add-on doesn't work anymore. I uninstalled it and went to the add on website to reinstall what I thought must be a new version. This add-on doesn't seem to exist anymore.
    How do I change proxy settings with the new version of Firefox for Android?

    The author of the add-on will need to update their version to be compliant with our newly rewritten Firefox for Android product.
    The new version of Firefox does not provide a user-interface for manipulating proxy settings.
    On the other hand, you can manipulate these settings yourself at your own discretion by visiting the URL about:config and searching for network.proxy

  • Httpurlconnection and Proxy settings

    hi all,
    I wrote a servlet that uses an HTTPUrlConnection to get a page from a remote server and the code looks like this :
    url = new URL(urlstr);
    HttpURLConnection uc = null;
    System.getProperties().put( "proxySet", "true" );
    System.getProperties().put( "proxyHost", "[myproxyhost]");
    System.getProperties().put( "proxyPort", "[myproxyport]);
    uc = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    The code works fine for the particular connection.
    If I need to get another page though another connection that needs no Proxy settings, it doesn't work.
    How can I deactivate the proxy settings between the two connections?
    And, finally, how can I leave the System settings in the same state as before the code execution?
    Thank you.
    Nicola

    You could trySystem.getProperties().put( "proxySet", "false" );to temporarily turn off the proxy settings. Or you could trySystem.getProperties().remove( "proxySet");
    // and the other two similarlyto remove those system properties.

  • Fring not working on 5800 with proxy settings

    I have already set my internet proxy settings and so internet works perfectly fine. What I dont understand is why my fring won't work. Any help? Thanks.

    Hi. I m Rai Singh using Nokia 5800 XM. I sucessfully installed fringSymbian94.sis , no probs But i m unable to connect via gprs. I m using idea gors service (NOP99).
    My gprs settings are
    Apn SpiceExcite
    Usr name Blank
    Passwrd Blank
    Authentication Normal
    Advanc setings-
    Proxy 10.11.12.13
    Port 9401
    I had also tried without proxy and with secured authenticatn bt same result NO. I think fring developers hav to solve this prob in the nxt upcoming version to meet the challenges of other IM providers as it is major drawback of fring. Otherwise it is awesom software. Hoping for quick action from ur side..

  • After iOS 4.3 Upgrade Proxy Settings only work with Personal Hotspot

    After Upgrading my IPhone to the 4.3 Release. The Proxy Settings not working anymore. Only when I activate the Hotspot functionality the Proxy Settings are working.

    I am having this same problem... Only with iPad 3 and update to iOS 7
    It worked perfectly before. :(

  • IOS 5.1 or iPhone Configuration Profile 3.5 for Windows has not fixed the issue with apply Proxy Settings

    iOS 5.1 or iPhone Configuration Profile 3.5 for Windows has not fixed the issue with apply Proxy Settings via a Configuration Profile. Has anyone else got the same issue? Are Mac users got this issue?

    This seems to be working for me now but will keep monitoring it the next couple of times I use it to make sure its not a one time thing

  • IOS 6 config profile bug: removing profile with APN proxy leaves proxy settings behind

    Has anyone noticed this problem on iOS 6: if you install a configuration profile with APN proxy settings and then remove it, the proxy settings themselves stay in the device. The profile itself is removed but the proxy settings are still there. This was never the case before. When the profile is removed it is expected that the proxy settngs (inside the profile) will be gone too.
    The only workaround I have been able to find is to do a Network Reset following the profile removal. This is major and needs to be fixed
    If you have seen this problem, have you found another workaround?

    Can you please explain this app rejection? The app can always launch Safari to a URL that contains the profile and install that way. Is there another way for an app to install a configuration profile? are there APIs for that?
    I, personally, still dont get this. It seems so obvious. I wish someone could tell me from Apple whether this is done by design.

  • I used to access internet in mozilla firefox 9 with no proxy settings,now it works well under proxy server. but i can not access it in no proxy. help plz

    i tried disabling windows firewall, and tried to add firefox in firewall also, but none of these works.

    You can try to set '''Auto-detect proxy settings for this network''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''Network''' > '''Settings'''. If it's still not working you may have to contact the network provider.
