PSE v13 on mac, organizer spontaneously adds images duplicates.  How do I stop this from happening?

just purchased PSE v13 on mac, primarily using the organizer
issue - Organizer spontaneously adds image duplicates.
How do I stop this from happening?

I enter misc. items in each metadata file, ie. document title, author, description, keywords, copyright notice, etc.  Each image has it's own metadata file, with unique keywords, which are unique to that image. The keywords then show up on the right side of PSE organizer under 'imported keyword tags'.  Then I can select a keyword, unique to that image and wa...la... that image only appears in organizer.  I have been doing this for years (like probably 10). But this is the first time I have experienced the duplication issue.
Not adding any auto-adjustments in Organizer as far as I know.
The names are not duplicated in organizer, but appear as ie. scnr0122.jpg and scnr0122-1.jpg.  But the '-1' is not found on my server.  Apparently they are being added from another source.  Is it possible they are being pulled from a cloud server, ie. creative cloud or revel??  I do have the same files on those cloud servers, but am not intentionally duplicating the import.
here is an interesting side item.
Did you know that a man was convicted of murder because of the info found in the metadata of his files?

This is true of course, but doesn't cover the situation where some files are in the iTunes Media folder and others are on an external drive. In my case I keep my music in the Media folder and all my films on an external drive (there are too many to have on the internal drive). In iTunes 11, and before, it was easy to add those external files by holding down the alt/opt key while dragging to the sidebar. In iTunes 12 this is no longer possible. There are several workarounds: use TuneSpan to move the file after it's been added; delete the file from the Media folder and empty the trash then use iTunes Get Info which will report the file is missing and allow you to locate it; constantly switch the Add to iTunes toggle on and off as required. All of these require a lot more work than just holding down the alt/opt key while adding.
    It constantly gets harder.

  • Whenever i turn on my macbook pro ,, mac office , powerpoint and excel starts up itself , how can i stop this from happening?

how can stop this from turning on itself?

Apple menu -> System preferences -> Users -> select your user, and select Login Items.  There is where automatic launching happens.   The other thing is, with Mac OS X 10.8 and later, there is a checkbox when you restart or shut down your Mac to reopen windows that were open upon shutdown.  Make sure that checkbox is unchecked.  You aren't running Classic.  You are running some version of Mac OS X on a MacBook Pro.

  • I just downloaded the latest software OS X on my mac book pro, now whenever I start my computer I have to wait for windows mac to open up.  The open at login is not even checked.  How can I stop this from happening?

I have a Mac Book Pro and downloaded the latest software OS X.  Now whenever I start my computer, I have to wait for Windows Mac to do its thing.  I checked and the "open at login" option is not checked.  How can I turn this feature off?  It's driving me nuts!!

All fixed Barry.  When I went to restart my computer, the question was right there.  Do you want to open Windows when opening.  NOPE!!
I tried it a few times and thank goodness it worked.  Thank you for your help today.
    Best,

  • Sometimes when I click on a link, Firefox opens a wierd Google window. I just had my computer re-imaged and it's still happening. How do I stop this from happening?

The Google window that is opening is not your typical Google homepage. It is specialized by topic.... i.e. Google Cars, Google Real Estate, Google Decor, etc. I don't know why these windows are opening up when I surf the net or even if they're authentically Google.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • My artwork and images keep resizing at random how to I stop this from happening ?

I have tried to PIN / LOCK the images but nothing is working, pulling my hair out - When I add an image to a slideshow then upload to FTP then i go online all the images are mis aligned and re sized - I have to go back and re-set them all again. done this multiple times for days and its beyond a joke now. I have a multiple galleries (its a photography site) Please HELP I'm drowning here in a time sponge.
I also notice for no reason also at random some images are pixelated when they show up on my site - they have all been saved the same way but maybe 5% of them come out foggy looking and not like the original Jpeg I saved for the site.

    Hello,
Since Muse optimizes the images for web, they might not look as expected.
You can check the below links for this issue:-
Is it necessary to "save images for web" before importing into Muse?

  • When I open some images, blank white boxes appear on the image past a certain zoom point in random locations. This does not show up in the tools though (liquify, camera filter, ect). how do i stop this from happening?

It happens mostly at random, but once it shows up on an image, even if i close and re open it it will still show up. if i zoom out far enough it will disappear, but as soon as i zoom back in again it will reappear. its never in the same spot on different images and never the same size. i was already on with tech support and they deleted my settings folder which seemed to fix it for a short time (like a week), does anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?
*this is not my art, just an example of it happening

it may have worked, but gimping my system isn't exactly a solution, more of a band-aid.
its the equivalent of the old
patient says, " its hurts when i do *this* "
doctor replies," well, don't do that "
What do you mean "it may have worked" – did it or did it not?
Anyway it is not a remedy but diagnostics and if it makes a difference it points at the GPU driver as a likely culprit.

  • My mac keeps closing all of the applications by itself- how do I stop this from happening?

My mac  closes out of any programs I have open if I let it sit for more than a couple of minutes.  This is a new development, so I am not sure if I have some kind of virus or if it is a problem with the computer. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I have the same problem on my Macbook Pro with OSX. The computer does not shut down. When using any application like; internet, photoshop, or watching movies. For example; im watching netflix, I cant watch a show without the internet window slide to the left and take me to the desktop 5 to six times in 45 minuets. Sometimes I dont have to be watching anything. In fact, my window minimized itself at the start of this sentence. Its really annoying and I would like for some help.

  • My father and I share the same apple id, and when I delete/add a contact to my iPhone they add/delete on his phone as well. How do I stop this from happening?

I want to keep the same apple Id, but I don't want our contacts synchronising every thing in my contacts and calendars. Please help?

This will happen if you have iCloud enabled. So you can either
    1. Turn off icloud on one of the devices by Settings > iCloud & turning it off
    2. Create a new apple id for either one of you.

  • Since I started using Lion (10.7.2) I'm prompted to type my password if I want to add a folder or put something in the trash. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Since I started using Lion (10.7.2) I'm prompted to type my password if I want to add a folder or put something in the trash. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

It sounds like the permissions on your Home folder are snarky.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/15/repair-user-permissions-in-mac-os-x-lion/
Restart Lion and hold down the Command and R keys.
You will boot into the Repair Utilities screen. On top, in the Menu Bar click the Utilities item then select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and hit Return.
The Password reset utility launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on the icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the drop-down below it, select the user account where you are having issues.
At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The reset process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. Notice that ‘Spotlight’ starts re-indexing immediately.

  • Every time I add a page to my documents, my buttons reset. How can I prevent this from happening?

I am using InDesign CS5. I have a very large document (698 pages) that has several buttons saved on each page.
I used the automated Table of Contents feature to create all of the destinations. Using the buttons dialog box, I select the specific page the document needs to go to.
I need to add pages to this document, but every time I add a page, all of the bookmarks default to the very first link in the list. How can I get prevent this from happening?
If I can't stop this from happening because I used the TOC feature to create the destinations, how can I quickly and easily move forward to add pages to the document. These pages will be inserted throughout the document.
    Thank you.

    Put on shoe.
Take one shoe-lace in each hand.
    Lay them across each other.
Then place one of them under the first.
You now have the first fasting.
To make the loops, again take each shoe-lace in each hand.
Fold one of them double into a loop and hold the loop with the other hand.
Take the second shoe-lace and fold it around the loop and insert the second loop in the space you just created under the first loop.
Fasten the loops by dragging them in opposite directions.
How did I do? Clear enough? (English is not my first language by the way).

It sounds like you and your husband are sharing an Apple ID, a version of iTunes on your computer, or both.
I recommend you share neither your Apple ID nor your version of iTunes.  You can still share music by using Store > Authorize this computer and enter your spouse's information.  But it sounds llike this sharing is the cause of your problem.

You got it. OS = operating system.
safari is the internet browser on the computer?  It doesnt matter what Im doing it just randomly does it more recently it has been while the kids have been doing their online maths. They would be answering a question and then it would sign them out and go back to the home page?? Weird??
Yes, Safari is the Internet browser. Click on a Safari page, go to the upper, left-hand corner, click on Safari, select About Safari, and post the information. On my Snow Leopard machine, I'm running Version 5.0.5 (6533.21.1).

  • Mac starts up by itself at 1 am some nights... Can anyone help me stop this from happening based on reading my system log messages?

My Mac starts itself automatically around 1:00 am about ever other night. I don't want it to do that. I had a backup program installed once that was set to do the backup at that time, but I have long since uninstalled that program. Yet the computer still powers on automatically. I checked in the control panels and don't see it set to do that. I used the Console program to check my log, but I don't know how to read what it says. Can anyone help me get to the root of this problem?

    Hi Edwardo,
Perhaps there's remnants of that App you're not aware of... what was it?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
