PTCOR function module input

Hello,
I'm trying to build a custom application with the ptcor function modules, the problem is, I cant test the function module
PTCOR_UIA_FORM_ACCEPT
properly because I cannot fill any values into the input structure IM_REQUEST
I'm trying to find out why it wont accept the time event type I entered into ITEM_INS -> SATZA, it still says I need to specify a time event type.
thank you very much

Hello,
yes, P01 is definitely inside the value range - I tried it but I still get the message.
I will try the debugging approach. Maybe another field is missing or SATZA needs to be defined anywhere else than ITEM_INS
Thank you so far

    can we create a serch help for  function module input giving process

    Hello basichodary,
    You can encapsulate the function module within a program.  Include the search help in a parameter statement in the calling program and pass the parameter to the function module.  For example, suppose you want to have field i_carrid to have a search help.  Use the following code.
    report  call_function_module.
    parameters p_carrid type s_carr_id matchcode object demo_f4_de.
    call function 'FUNCTION_MODULE'
       exporting
          i_carrid    = p_carrid

  • Hash table and function module input

    Hi ABAP Expert,
    Please advise what happening if i am passing the intertal table (hashtable) become input of function module (table).
    so insite the function module is this table still hashtable type or just normal internal table ?
    Thank you and Regards
    Fernand

    Typing of such parameter should be either generic (i.e ANY TABLE) or fully specified (HASHED/SORTED/STANDARD TABLE). In both cases when you pass i.e. HASHED table to that formal parameter the dynamic type will be inherited by the actual paremeter.
    This means that inside the function module you will not be able to use HASHED table "banned" statement i.e. not appending to this table. The system must be fully convinced about the type of passed parameter to allow certain access. Without that knowledge it won't pass you through the syntax checker or will trigger runtime error.
    I.e
    "1) parameter is typed
    CHANGING
       C_TAB type ANY TABLE
    "here you can't use STANDARD/SORTED table specific statements as the dynamic type of param might be HASHED TABLE
    append ... to c_tab.  "error during runtime
    "2) parameter is typed
    CHANGING
       C_TAB type HASHED TABLE
    "here system explicitly knows that dynamic type is the same as static one so you can append to this table too
    append ... to c_tab.  "syntax error before runtime
    So the anwser to your question
    so insite the function module is this table still hashtable type or just normal internal table ?
    is...
    During syntax check system takes static type of table and shouts if table related operation is not allowed for this kind.
    During runtime system takes dynamic type of the table and checks whether particular statement is allowed for this kind of table, if not triggers an exception.

  • Function module - input datatype Mismatch

    Dear All,
    I have developed a function module that would convert any '#' in a supplied string to '_'. I have defined the import and export parameters as 'string'.
    This function module is getting called only if we call it exporting a variable of datatype 'string' and does not get called if we export a variable whose data type is different from 'string' (say Char20).
    One work around is to define another variable with data type 'string' and pass this variable to the function module (after taking the contents of the variable with a different data type into this 'string' variable). But, isn't there a better solution like the SAP standard function module 'string_length' which can be called by exporting a variable of any data type (like char20, char10, num, string etc).
    I want this function module to be used in Transformation (in BI) while loading data into an InfoProvider. I may want to remove '#' in 0MATERIAL or 0CUSTOMER or ZCUSTOMER which may have different datatypes and I do not want the user to do the workaround while calling this function module (by creating a variable with 'String') each time.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Bajrang

    Sure,  all you need to do is not assign a type to the importing and/or exporting parameters,  this makes them generic and they will take the type of what is being pass to it.
    So here is a funcitno module,  notice there is no type in the signature.
    function z_test.
    *"*"Local interface:
    *"  IMPORTING
    *"     REFERENCE(I_STR)
    *"  EXPORTING
    *"     REFERENCE(E_STR)
      e_str = i_str.
      translate e_str using '#_'.
    endfunction.
    So when you call this,  you can pass a string, a character field, what ever.

    Hi,
    you can create this easily using runtime creation of objects and SALV for display.

  • Exceptions in Function Modules

    Hi
    How can I create an Exception in a Function Module and Raise that based on some condition? Plz help

    Hi Santo,,,,
    Look into this link ,, where u will get  a clear information on exceptions,,,,,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/9f/db98fc35c111d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm
    http://abapprogramming.blogspot.com/2007/06/lesson-24-function-groups-and-function.html
    In the function module, you can create your own local types and data objects, and call subroutines or other function modules.
    You can make a function module trigger exceptions .
    To do this, you must first declare the exceptions in the interface definition, that is, assign each one a different name.
    In the source code of your function module, you program the statements that trigger an exception under the required condition. At runtime, the function module is terminated when an exception is triggered.
    The changes to exporting and changing parameters are the same as in subroutines. There are two statements that you can use to trigger an exception. In the forms given below, stands for the name of an exception that you declared in the interface. The system reacts differently according to whether or not the exception was listed in the function module call:
    RAISE .
    If the exception is listed in the calling program, the system returns control to it directly. If the exception is not listed, a runtime error occurs.
    MESSAGE () RAISING .
    If the exception is listed in the calling program, the statement has the same effect as RAISE . If it is not listed, the system sends message from message class with type , and no runtime error occurs.
    Function modules differ from subroutines in that you must assume that they will be used by other programmers. For this reason, you should ensure that you complete the steps listed here.
    Documentation (can be translated)
    You should document both your parameters and exceptions with short texts (and long texts if necessary) and your entire function module. The system provides a text editor for you to do this, containing predefined sections for Functionality, Example Call, Hints, and Further Information.
    Work list
    When you change an active function module, it acquires the status active (revised). When you save it, another version is created with the status inactive . When you are working on a function module, you can switch between the inactive version and the last version that you activated. When you activate the inactive version, the previous active version is overwritten.
    Function test
    Once you have activated your function module, you can test it using the built-in test environment in the Function Builder. If an exception is triggered, the test environment displays it, along with any message that you may have specified for it. You can also switch into the Debugger and the Runtime Analysis tool. You can save test data and compare sets of results.
    When you insert a function module call in your program, you should use the Pattern function. Then, you only need to enter the name of the function module (input help is available). The system then inserts the call and the exception handling (MESSAGE statement) into your program.
    You assign parameters by name. The formal parameters are always on the left-hand side of the expressions:
    Exporting parameters are passed by the program. If a parameter is optional, you do not need to pass it. Default values are displayed if they exist.
    Importing parameters are received by the program. All importing parameters are optional.
    Changing parameters are both passed and received. You do not have to list optional parameters.
    Default values are displayed if they exist.
    The system assigns a value to each exception, beginning at one, and continuing to number them sequentially in the order they are declared in the function module definition. You can assign a value to all other exceptions that you have not specifically listed using the special exception OTHERS.
    If you list the exceptions and one is triggered in the function module, the corresponding value is placed in the return code field sy-subrc. If you did not list the exception in the function call, a runtime error or a message occurs, depending on the statement you used in the function module to trigger the exception.
    When you create a function module, you must assign it to a function group. The function group is the main program in which a function module is embedded.
    A function group is a program with type F, and is not executable . The entire function group is loaded in a program the first time that you call a function module that belongs to it.
    The system also triggers the LOAD-OF-PROGRAM event for the function group.
    The function group remains active in the background until the end of the calling program. It is therefore a suitable means of retaining data objects for the entire duration of a program. All of the function modules in a group can access the group's global data.

  • Attaching function module to the webDynpro

    Hi,
    I am attaching the function module where i am using the "Web Dynpro for ABAP: Tutorial 2 - BAPI Usage". Now the problem is that in the document they have created the container form for the input parameters and in the context they have mapped the fields with the function module input parameters. But my requirement is little different. I have created the view which has dropdown boxes and I cant  create a new container form. Now please suggest how should I map the Import parameters with the screen fields(dropdowns).
    Please suggest some solution.
    I hope you would have seen this document"Web Dynpro for ABAP: Tutorial 2 - BAPI Usage". if not I will send the link.

    Actually in this application the data that is required is flowing. So I have tried making the import parameters as the controller attributes in spite of context node in the service call. Then it passes the data into the import parameters as WD_THIS->KUNNR.
    But still when I am debugging the data is not coming. What could be the issue.

  • How to log input parameters for Function Modules?

    Hi,
    I need to create a Logging system to trace input parameters for function modules.
    The log functionality could be done by developing a class method or a function module (For example 'write_log'), and calling it within each function module that I want to log. The 'write_log' code should be independent from the interface of the Function Module that I want to log.
    For example, I'd like to write a function/class method that can log both these functions modules:
    Function DummyA
       Input parameters: A1 type char10, A2 type char10.
    Function DummyB
       Input parameters: B1 type char20, B2 type char20, B3 type char20, B4 type Z_MYSTRUCTURE
    Now the questions...
    - Is there a "standard SAP" function that provide this functionality?
    - If not, is there a system variable in which I can access runtime all parameters name, type and value for a particular function module?
    - If not, how can I loop at Input parameters in a way that is independent from the function module interface?
    Thank you in advance for helping!

    Srinivasan-
    For creating a Generic extractor based on a FM, you first of all need to know what is going to be your structure.. i.e. what all fields you need to pull from what all tables. A functional consultant may help you identify the exact DB tables.
    Once you know them, hand over the requirement and the pdf mentioned by Krishna to the ABAP guy, he would be able to take this up further.
    Also decide 1st whether you would be using a full load or delta. There is a slight difference in the way they are built.
    Let me know how it goes.

  • How to capture the User input value to user exist function module.

    Hi,
    How can i capture user input value.Here i am using User exist in BPS variable.
    Calculating days using user exist functin module and my input is another variable i.e user defined value.
    How can i capture user defined vaule into my function module.
    This is very urgent can you help me..
    Thanks....

    Hi!
    You can get the instance using the method get_instance of the class cl_sem_variable, and call the method get_value with the return. Check the example:
          CALL METHOD cl_sem_variable=>get_instance
            EXPORTING
              i_area       = (planning area)
              i_variable   = (variable name)
            RECEIVING
              rr_variable  = lr_var
            EXCEPTIONS
              not_existing = 1
              OTHERS       = 2.
          CHECK sy-subrc IS INITIAL.
          CALL METHOD lr_var->get_value
            RECEIVING
              rto_value = et_value
            EXCEPTIONS
              error     = 1.
    After this, read the first line of the table et_value (it should be the value that the user choose on the screen).

  • Function module to list out a report's input/output parameters

    Hi experts,
    I'd like to know if there is a function module which can list out all the input and output parameters (variables, tables, etc.) by giving the report name as input.
    If not, please suggest a way to find out the input/output parameters.
    Regards,
    Ancy

    Well, they're not input/output parameters, and really you shouldn't refer to them as such.  A variable is simple what it says - a variable.  You could, I suppose, refer to data sources.  But then, the report could be getting data from a set of function modules.
    So my assumption is correct, you are talking about a where-used list.
    >Check out tables like CROSS. To find other useful tables, put an SQL trace on, do the where used, and see what tables are hit.

    And call the above screen from a function module.

  • Function module in crystal reports using tables as input

    We had a function module created with a few import parameters. We successfully linked it in crystal and were able to retrieve the data.
    To accommodate the requirement of being able to pick multiple values for some of the parameters, the import parameters were changed to tables. When testing in ECC, we are able to retrieve the data using the function module.
    However, when we're using the same approach as before in crystal reports, we are not able to retrieve the data.
    Is it possible in crystal to pass the input parameters to tables ?
    Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Mat

    Hi John,
    The solution is very simple.
    You create a function module in ECC (t-code SE37) that will receive you input parameters, process them, and export a table with your results.
    In the function module you define an input parameter using a CHAR120 data type (ex. PERNR).
    In the function module source code you add logic to split the input parameter
    [SPLIT i_PERNR AT ',' INTO TABLE itab_PERNRS.]
    You then create a crystal report against your function module.
    In your crystal report you create a parameter using type "string" (ex. I_PERNR).
    When you execute the crystal report, you input a comma delimited string in the parameter.
    [00001234,00005678,00009123]
    The function module will receive the string of values, split the string to an internal table, and process accordingly.
    I still have no solution for the 120 character restriction in the CR->ECC interface.  In the meantime, I get around this by creating multiple parameters (PERNR1, PERNR2, PERNR3, etc.).
    Each parameter is set up to pass a string of 120 characters to ECC.
    The function module is set up to concatenate the parameters before splitting.
    [CONCATENATE PERNR1 PERNR2 PERNR3 into I_PERNR]
    Hope this helps.
