Publish in which Flash version

I can't seem to find which Flash version Captivate publishes
to. Can someone help me???

Hi Cambo160 and welcome to the community
A quick look at the topic titled
End-user requirements in the Captivate help file seems to
indicate version 6 of the Flash Player is needed.

  • Which flash version is compatible/where do I get it?

Which flash version is compatible with my laptop? Where can I get it?
I have recently restored to factory settings and am not able to play "Gemcraft-Chasing Shadows" although I was ok. It gives the message that it may have stopped working etc.
Please help. That game kept me sane.
    System is:
    *Vista
    *32bit OS
    *celeron 900 processor (2.19 ghz)
    *1 g RAM
    Thanks folks.

You should always use the latest Flash Player.
The following troubleshooting guide might help -- in particular, check out the stuff about disabling Hardware Acceleration:
    Video playback issues
If that works, and you haven't downloaded the latest drivers for your graphics hardware, I'd do that and then enable hardware acceleration again.

  • Which flash version does Encore CS6 use?

    Hello all,
Could someone please tell me which Flash version Encore CS6 uses to encode a flash build?
I need to deliver a flash video in flash 10 or higher, but I cannot find any info on this.
Also, if Encore CS6 encodes in a lower version of flash, is there a way to convert this to flash 10 or higher?
Thank you in advance for your help!

The only flash export I've done with CS6 is very simple. No scripting shows up (so only the flash video encode and not the "flash" app version may be relevant). I chose fv4, so that is what I got. I am not even sure that "Flash" is used to encode what we are seeing in the .swf.
The index.html page generated only requires flash 9.
If you don't get an answer here today, ask in the Flash forum and post a link to that thread here (and I'll take a look).

  • Which Flash version is running?

    Hey!
I'm trying to verify that the flash content on my website ( http://www.ultimate-guitar-tuner.com ) is loading correctly in differnt browsers and OS using browserlab. The issuse that I want help with is that the flash content is loading correctly on all the Mac OS X browser but on Windows browser the "expressInstall.swf" shows up. I don't understand why.
Are the Mac OS X and Windows machines running different version of the flash player ? The flash content on my website require flash 10.1 ?
Greatfully if anyone have some thoughts about this.
    Best Regards,
    Rickard.

    Hi Rickard,
Yes, on some of our machine images we inadvertantly have a 10.0 version of Flash Player installed. We're working on correcting this and should be able to update those in the next couple of weeks.
You can always easily check the installed version of Flash Player in BrowserLab by submitting a URL that displays the version number, e.g. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
    Thanks,

  • Which Flash Player when publish?

I'm using Flash CS4. What's the prevailing wisdom about which Flash player to select when publishing? I just accepted the default (Flash player 10), but I'm a bit worried because when I started my Flash movie on a computer today, the movie didn't start. It looked like a broken image link. There was no indication that it was because because the computer didn't have the latest Flash player, but I assume that was the problem.
    thanks
    Mark

Only you can answer the question about which player version to target when you publish. Many factors come in to play.
Is your audience early adopters and likely to have the latest player?
Is your content so insanely great that your audience will install the latest player just to see your content?
Is your audience likely to be corporate users who have a policy of being 2 (or 3!) versions behind the latest and greatest?
Does your content require some fancy feature only available to plugin X or greater?
And so forth. So once you have answered those questions you can say, "Yes, we must publish to Flash 9 and nuts to those who won't come up to at least that point." (or whatever you decided.)
After that you should add detection code to your html page that will redirect the user to some alternate content if they don't meet the minimal requirements. You can use the basic code that Flash generates to do that or you can use swfobject to roll your own.
You should customize the alternate content to make it clear what is needed and how to get it. Maybe even give a little preview screenshot or something of your content to tease them and convince them on how much they are really missing out on, etc.
Also in the past there were some bad detection scripts out there that would sometimes deny the user the ability to get to the content based on errors of judgement. So I generally like to add a link that says something like, "Yes, I really do know what my computer has installed and your detection script is stupid. Take me directly to the content. (Warning, if your computer really isn't up to date you will see only a broken link.)"

  • Flash version detection question

I understand how to set the Flash player version when I
publish my Flash movie. But what is not clear in the book I'm
studying is when I upload the .swf file in my html page
(index.html) to my server, do I need to upload the html version of
my Flash file (when I published)? Or do the version detection
settings automatically get stored in the swf? In other words, if I
    have 2 files -- movie.swf (which is in my index.html page) &
movie.html (which was published in Flash as well), do both need to
be uploaded? Or will the .swf file in my index.html page pickup the
    visitors Flash version?
    Thanks in advance!
    Bernie C

The detection scripts are in the HTML (and probably an
external JS file). You don't HAVE to use the HTML file generated by
Flash, but you probably want to take a look at it and move some of
the code over to your index.html page. Don't forget to upload the
JS file if one is called as well.
    Hope that helps!

  • Detect Flash version for executable

I am currently using Captivate v2.0, and created a training
simulation for a new piece of software we are developing. When I
published the standalone executable, I selected Flash Player 7.
For those that were using Flash 6, the first screen would
appear, but they were not able to continue. It took me awhile to
figure it out, but I upgraded them to the latest version, and it
worked. I know this question was posed in an earlier posting, but
the link used was dead and I am hoping someone can answer. Is there
a way where the tutorial can detect what version of Flash is
installed, and recommend the user to upgrade to a later version?
One exception to this situation is when a user was using
Flash 9, and I was still unable to get the tutorial to work. I
rebuilt the stand-alone executable with Flash version 6, and it
worked for her. We rebooted her computer, reinstalled version 9,
and tried the tutorial with the version 7 needed, and still no
    luck. Any ideas?
    Thank you for your help.
    Chas

    Hi Chas and Larry,
I also faced this issue once and then it figured that the
standalone created by Captivate is not *standalone*. It works like
a wrapper, which in turn will call the activeX controls installed
in the browser, however, if flash player is not installed as
activeX, then the EXE generated from Captivate will install this on
the users machine (it will install the version which is selected
    while creating that EXE).
Now here comes a problem, what happens if a user has a
previous version installed - In this case the EXE is not capable
enough to upgarde the flash player.
So there are two solutions you can opt for:
    1. somehow communicate that a certain version of flash player
is a must to have. OR
    2. modify the _skin file (or the playback controls), from the
template, use actionscript to find out which version is installed,
and perform operations based on that. (this was the approach which
    I took)
    Hope this Helps!

  • Diff Results for Different Flash Versions

    Hello all,
I recently made a flash movie with Adobe Flash CS3. The
unfortunate thing is it keeps looping in
Flash Player 8 ( which I had on Firefox ) but works like I
designed it to ( runs once ) on Internet
Explorer ( Flash Player 9 ) using stop( ) in ActionScript.
Was I upgraded Flash 8 to Flash 9 on Firefox,
    it worked great.
My question is I didn't think there should be these kind of
differences between Flash versions. What if my users don't have
Flash 9? I was never prompted to upgrade, I just happened to figure
    it out.
    Thanks for any help.
    David

If you published to Flash Player 9, then yes, you need to
have Flash Player 9. You can always publish down to Flash Player
    8/AS2.

  • Which Flash player do I need

1.After finishing a flash file is there any way of viewing
which flash player people need to view my movie.
2.Does chooseing the flash number under flash publish
settings determine what flash player people need.
3.where can I get that little image with its script so I can
use with dreamweaver on my site.I want it so that people push the
image and then transports the person to a download page so they can
    down load the flash player.
flash files on my site www.jasoneyermann.toucansurf.com

    1. Choose File -> Publish Settings, and under the Flash
tab, verify the player version you're publishing to. That's the one
    they'll require.
    2. Yes.
    3. Search the site for the Flash Player download (one of the
first Adobe pages), right-click and download the image, then click
the image and copy the URL it takes you to that installs the
    player.

  • Problems with the new flash version.

Turned on my computer (win 7, ff5) and found that both skype and youtube are crippled.
After some digging, it becomes clear that there has been a new flash version and im far from the only one with problems. I try to use the uninstaller - which works suspiciously quickly- and reinstall. I get a message saying that its already installed. When i try through firefox direct, it says an existing version may be in use.
So either the uninstaller or the installer is broken.
When on youtube for example, it alternates between telling me i need to update the plugin and to download  from adobe. I have now done this several times, following the instructions. No suscess.
Have tried to change the hardware accelleration off, but as i cant see anything thats flash.... its not going well.

  • Which Flash Player

    My company purchased a Flash-based e-learning development
tool. It comes with many compiled SWF templates. There are no FLA
files to work with. I'm getting inconsistent behaviors and think
that the SWF may have been compiled for early, or possibly various,
    Flash Player versions.
Is there a tool or a method that will report which Flash
Player a SWF was compiled for?
I'm sure I can devise a test. I discovered the issue when
some SWFs wouldn't work with the FlashVars parameter and others
would. There's hundreds of templates, so I'm looking for a fast
approach first, before I develop a more laborious approach.

    Found it.
Got a demo version of a Flash Decompiler. It includes a Movie
Info feature that reports the version of Flash Player the SWF was
compiled for. I did not and will not decompile the SWFs. That would
be wrong. I just needed the info.

  • Cannot install flash version 10.1.0 onto a mac 10.4.11

    Hello,
I cannot install flash version 10.1.0 onto a mac 10.4.11 and therefore cannot use YouTube or the BBCIplayer. Is there a compatability problem?

I am in the same boat. I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, although all other flash videos (YouTube for example) are fine.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have anabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 10.1.102.64 in TenFourFox and it works just fine.
