Publish screen size in flash website

I create a website in flash professional 8, with screen size
710 x 610 pixels. When I view it in "test movie" it looks good.
But when I published from a host site it diaplay smaller.
What did I do wrong? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

  • Publishing & screen size

I have a set of powerpoint slides with narration. These
publish fine. However, on my screen (1024x768) the conrol bar is
off the screen and you have to scroll down to get to it. On a
colleague's screen (he uses higher resolution) the entire image
with controls appears fine. Is there some way to publish such that
the data will fit regardless of what resolution the viewer is
    using? Thanks. Gary

    Hi again
Well, you have options. You could try linking to the
_skin.swf file instead. As long as the main .SWF can be found, it
should display. Or you could put things into a single .SWF by
clicking Project > Skin > Borders tab and DE-selecting the
"Show borders" check box. Then re-publish.

  • Flash website- problems with sizing on different computers- code to resize based on browser/screen resolution

    Ok Guys-
So I have put up a trial of my flash website-
    www.nicksdesign.com/flash
I'm new at flash- as this is the first project I've done in
    flash, and the problem is...
I put the file in a simple HTML file in dreamweaver, and i
published the files, tested them on my computer, and it's great-
the size fits enough so that no scrolling is needed.
    However-
I asked a friend to test it- and on his computer you are
required to scroll both vertically and horizontally in order to see
all the content on the 100% flash website.
    My question-
Are there any codes that can resize the swf file or the HTML,
based on screen resolution/browser [however- we tested in the same
    browser]
Any help would be SUPER appreciated
    Best Regards,

I took a look at your html source code, I notice that your
size of width sets at 1270 while height sets at 537. The width is
    way too wide.
Secondly, flash-based website aren't that cool.
Finally, you probably get a better help from Flash forum
participants. This forum is all about Dreamweaver-related topics,
and is not about how to create or design Flash for the first time.
Hope that helps and good luck with your project.
    Cheers, Brian

  • HOW DO I CHANGE MY BOOK SIZE ON MY FLASH WEBSITE?

I was just wondering does anyone know how to change
the size of my book on my webpage....I have tried changing
    the
component size on flash and also in my dreamweaver
    configuration.
    My website is
    http://www.myvirtuemagazine.com
(it takes a while to load sorry, still learning how to make a
    preloader)
If you look on the site, the book is too small to read the
    writing, I
would like it to be 3 times that size so it fills the screen.
    Please help me!

    Hi Alix86
By the looks of it, thats the Page Flip 2.0 component (I
havent been following this, might be a later version) But im sure
the designers would have given this a means of resizing it.
You mentioned that you tried to resize the component inside
Flash, to no avail. This leads me to believe that the size is
controlled with actionscript, either inside the component as
parameters, or somewhere in your timeline, (usually the first
    frame.
I suggest checking the component parameters first.
Select the component, go down to your Properties tab at the
    bottom.

  • The screen size is too small on the webpage created by QTSS publisher

    Hello,
I published a video file using QTSS publisher.
I'm using "Publish media to Quick Time Streaming Server (instant-on) and Webpage action "Auto-play in Web page".
The screen size is fine when playing via the streaming link but when I create an actual webpage using QTSS publisher and dropping the movie file to that webpage, the screen size is extremely small while playing. Is there a way to make the playing screen size bigger in the webpage?
    The html looks like this:

  • How to make website fit any screen size?

    Hello all!
I am trying to make my website fits any screen size (desktop, tablet, mobile)
In Dreamweaver cs6, I go to file -multiscreen preview – Media Queries- make a CSS file for (site-wide) and click on the Default Presets and then find my CSS files for phone, tablet and desktop. But it does not work for my website, my site does not respond to the size of desktop, tablet or mobile. Can someone please help? Thank you.

The main rule to follow for a responsive design is be flexible.
That means no rigid dimensions, no absolute positioning and images that respond to the width of their containers.
The following typically breaks the rule of flexibility
    #apDiv35 {
        position: absolute;
        width: 200px;
        height: 115px;
        z-index: 1;
That is but one example from your document out of more than 40.

  • Edited Flash Website Template Won't Accept Changes When Published.

    Hi, All,
I didn't think this was going to be so difficult.  After I purchased and downloaded a "complete flash website template" file from the internet, I uploaded the file into my local_site file and then into Dreamweaver 8
The template included files called Flash.swf, Flash.fla, FlashMX2004.swf and FlashMX2004.fla.
I have been able to customize the flash files in Flash 8 and import them back into Dreamweaver8 but when I publish the site, the changes will not take effect in Dreamweaver8 or on the internet webpage.
I've had this project since September and I've  read as much as I could read! (...both in Dreaweaver8 and Flash8)
There is obviously something that I keep overlooking. Am I suppose to be changing something else in addition to the .swf and .fla files?
    HELP!
    www. freelanceshoot.com
    Thanks in advance.

The fla file is what you edit and then you publish it to a swf file.  The swf file is what you upload to your webserver.
Are you publishing the fla file and then uploading?  If yes, then you may want to double check the location to where you are uploading to make sure that the html page is also pointing to the same location.

  • Resizing websites to optimize for the most common screen size

    Hi,
I have recently designed and produced my first website.  When designing it I looked at the pixel sizes of the range of screens in our office (no widescreen), and I have designed it to suit.  The website fits fine on our screens in our office, but when it has been viewed on some home PC's, it is too large to fit on the screen and you have to scroll across to view the entire website.  Is this because the home PC's screens are older and smaller pixel size?
My website is designed at 1160px width / 805px height.
    - Is there a way I can easily optimize the website to enable it to fit all screens?
    - If not, what would you suggest the best dimensions are to enable non-widescreen viewers to view it correctly.
    - My website is approx 60 pages, is there an easy way to make this change, with out re-designing the entire websites.
    Thanks
    Andy

I just had to do this for a site just recently, but in reverse, but admittedly, not 60 pages  :-)  It was originally designed for 800px wide browser window - so it was set at 760px width.
I had used a template (dwt) original, so it was only a matter of increasing the size of the various elements in my original png file (header, body bg image that repeated down the page and the footer).
Because I'd used a CSS layout, it was very easy to change.  Opened the DWT file, opened the css file and make the size adjustments to the various divs etc., and hey presto a larger size website  :-)
If you post a link to your page, so people can see how you've constructed it, may help get you some advice on how to make changes so it fits approx 960-980px for a 1024 window size.

  • What are "average" screen sizes, resolutions etc. for websites

This may be the wrong forum but -
All screen sizes vary, all browser outputs vary, and all individual preferences for browsers are subjective.
Having stated the obvious, can anyone offer guidance on the best 'common denominator' settings/set-up procedure on starting out on a web design so that the best 'average' viewing and reading is achieved? A tough one!
I now have an iMac 24" set high on 1920 x 1200 and my current website looks fine (it's non-iWeb). But now I'm told 800 x 600 is still a fairly common screen resolution 'worldwide', and viewed on this my pics and texts are elephantine, need scrolling mercilessly, and are..... just plain ugly.

These days the variety of devices which can display web pages ranges from small mobile phones to large high definition TVs. So there's no way your web pages will look good on everything - especially older 800x600 CRTs.
Although Apple's iWeb templates are narrow (700pixels?), Apple's own recently re-designed webpages at apple.com are now mostly 980 pixels wide. This is also the width that iPhone's Safari is optimized to:
    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/designingcontent.html
...scroll down & click on "Optimize for Page Readability"; it says: "Safari on iPhone also sets the viewport width to 980 pixels, *the width of most webpages*." And: "if your webpage is less than 980 pixels wide causing it to scale too small on iPhone..."
So clearly the iPhone's default scale is optimized for 980 wide and apple.com also. Obviously 980-wide pages won't be good on a non-scaling 800-wide display because of the need to scroll horizontally - which should be avoided where possible. But you'll never satisfy all viewers - especially those with old technology.
Since the iPhone automatically scales 980-wide web pages perfectly to its 320 x 480 screen and future display devices will scale too, perhaps you won't go far wrong if you take Apple's example and set your page width to 980.

I think it really depends on your audience. If your audience is ALL, then you'd probably better stick to 640x480 I'm sure there's a few still out there!
If your audience is "recent/new computer users, you could be safe designing for 1024x768. If you just want a good sized swath of users with computers of a decent capability, then some of iWeb's pages (several of the default themes fit well within 800x600) are good for this, leaving plenty of room for dragging items to the desktop and accounting for scroll bars

  • Advice on how to keep Flash website small & fast

Hi, I'm developing my first Flash website (I know, I know, there are plenty of reasons to use other development products, but for now it will be Flash), and I envision a site with several pages and needing to load some large graphics.  I'm doing the main design work in Illustrator and importing it into Flash.  I'm not too concerned with animation except perhaps moving some buttons around.  My plan so far is to use a lot of UI loaders to keep the main .swf small and to really try to keep the coding pretty simple as I'm a newbie anyway.  I'm looking for general advice on how to prevent the main site from loading quickly - for example, I don't have a good sense of the best format to use for graphics, or which makes the site slower: using several UI loaders or just keeping the content in the main site?  Is a lot of code or large graphics more draining on the load time?  Any thoughts on what you think I can do or not do to keep it lean would be super appreciated, or any other resources you might be able to point me to.
    Thanks in advance!

Nah... really really stupid questions only get asked in non-Flash forums.  The size of the swf is not tied tot the size of the fla.  The fla has alot more baggage that inflates its size greatly compared to the swf it creates.  The swf will end up bearing the weight of whatever content you put in it.
If you want to see what's adding weight to your swf, go into your Flash Publish Settings and select the option to Generate Size Report.  When you publish the file it will display a detailed report of each element and the weight it contributes to the swf.
As far as dynamically loading swf's, it is often a necessity, unless the swf is strictly an animation.  If you import an swf into an fla file, all of the actionscript that might have been in it is stripped out.
Code will have negligible weight in a file.  Images (large/heavy ones) can put lead shoes on a file, along with video and sound files.

  • Embedding SlideshowPro in a Flash Website

Hello everyone at the Flash forums!
I am currently trying to make a Flash website for my cousin's business, and his website should feature a portfolio gallery to display the work he has done (He is a contractor). I am trying to use the SlideshowPro plug-in which generates a very nice-looking Flash gallery that is about 50 times nicer than the one he is using on his website at the moment. One of the big things I like about SSP is that it offers a full-screen picture viewing mode, which would allow potential customers of his to see work he has done better than they are currently seeing.
However, whenever I publish the website to test it and make sure everything is working okay, I go to the Portfolio page and test SSP in full screen. Once I come back from full screen, the gallery remains on top of the screen on every other page of the website. The audio also does this (It can play audio in the background while looking through the galleries you set up). Since I am somewhat new to Flash, I am not sure why it is doing this. Perhaps someone else has encountered this and has a fix or workaround that I could use.
    Thanks in advance, guys!
Note: I attached a picture of the problem I am encountering so you guys can see what it is doing.
Edit: I am not sure whether or not it is relevant, but I have the gallery set to appear in frame 117 and the Home button is set to go back to frame 115, before the gallery should even show up.
Edit 2: I finally figured out how to get the gallery to not appear on other pages (Yippee!). However, the audio is still continuing to play when I navigate away from the Portfolio page.

Alright, just figured I would update you guys. I redid the website so that it ran at a higher framerate and kept everything else the same as it was. As stated before, SSP is showing up right, but the audio still isn't working right. I've tried all of the AS codes I've been told to try and none of them have worked. It keeps telling me that every single code I've tried is not a function, so I don't know what I am doing wrong there.
Also, not really related to SSP: I did add a contact form to the website, and I am now having problems with that not wanting to submit the data to the mailer.php file to send the form information to the designated e-mail address (I keep getting, "Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: http://sagesportfolio.webs.com/website.swf cannot load data from http://www.sagesportfolio.webs.com/mailer.php. at website_fla::MainTimeline/frame544()", minus the quotes). If anyone might be able to help with that, too, I would highly appreciate it.
