Published project won''t run on other computers?

I published a short project, and it runs fine on my computer, but it will not run on other computers.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Sorry, but there are too many unanswered questions to hazard a guess,
For example:
What kind of a project did you publish? Flash SWF, HTML 5, etc.
Where is the project when you are trying to run it on the other computers? Did you copy it to a flash drive? Web Server? Network server?
How exactly are you trying to run the file? Double-clicking on a specific file? Using an HTML hyperlink? Something else?
Give us some answers and we will try to be helpful... Rick

  • Apps won't run on other computers - please help!

I am using xCode 3.0 with Leopard. I can not get my Apps to run on any other computer except the one I am compiling on. They run just fine on my own computer. But even the most simple App, just a project cocoa shell, will not run on my other computer.
However, if I take one of the example code projects and build it, that app WILL run on my other computer. (The other system is an iBook G4, but the apps have been tried on other systems as well.)
What are the example projects doing differently than the Cocoa shell that I built my project on top of?
I am building in "Release" or "Deployment" mode depending on the version of xCode that the project was created under. It can't be a frameworks issue, as it even happens with the Cocoa project shell.
This is driving me crazy! Thanks for your help.

Okay, changing the target to 10.4 helped a bit, in that the Cocoa shell works on the other machine. But my other two Application still do not. One receives a build error about depending upon itself and will no longer build/run on my system. The other App I'm testing works still on my system after the target change, but won't work on the other system.
I am not familiar with the otool -L command. Any direction for where I can find info on how to use that?

  • Captivate 5.5 - SCORM Project won't run after Captivate 7 installation

    Good afternoon,
I had completed a Captivate 5.5 project for a few months and as of about a month ago I have had Captivate 7 installed on the machine. Due to some widgets that are implemented in the project that only run in 5.5, I have not used Captivate 7.
I also have not had cause to reopen the project until recently to make some changes. However, now when I publish the files, package them in the MultiSCO Packager, and put them in CMS  - it won't run.
I've verified that the CMS is not the issue: if I repost the pre-Captivate 7 version it works just fine and the only changes I made to the original files were cosmetic and minor.
Now when I republish the files in 5.5 and package them, the files look different, publishing all of the zips into a "Linear" subfolder. I couldn't help but notice that this is the same as Captivate 7 publishes except without any accompanying XML files. Why would Captivate 5.5 be affected by Captivate 7 being updated on the machine?
Is there any solution to this other than having to open the 5.5 files in 7 and replace every widget? This is a huge expenditure of time when I was under the impression that if 5.5 was still installed it would run completely independent of the Captivate 7 changes.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Jaimeson

Don't be too quick to write off the LMS/CMS as the issue.  You need to be aware that with Cp6 Adobe totally revamped their SCORM drivers so there is now little similarity between output of 5.5 to 7 in this area.  It is also no longer possible to use Cp7 SCORMs in the Cp5.5 era Multi-SCORM Packager tool.  They are not compatible.  You must make sure the CP7 SCORMs are matched with the Multi-SCORM Packager that came with Cp7.
Once you get compatible SCORMs published, try uploading them to SCORM Cloud LMS to test.  If they work fine on SCORM Cloud then they should work on your CMS (if it is truly SCORM compliant).
Your issue with the widgets not working in Cp7 might be resolvable if you update the widgets.  Have you checked with the original widget developer to see if they have updates available?  If you have several widgets of the same type and version in each project file, then there is a trick to updating all of them in one go (per project file).
See the heading in the lower part of this page:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/widget-updates
But be warned that this only works if the widget filename is exactly the same, and you are doing this from the same computer that was used to originally insert the same widgets, because the path to the external widget file must be replicated.

  • Class LED project won't run

    Hi Everyone,
I am in an introductory electronics class in college and we had to draw a schematic of a simple LED board from a solder practice kit. I had already bought the student version of Multisim, so I thought I would use it to draw the circuit. I would like to simulate the circuit with the software, but do not understand why I can't make it operate like the physical board. I can't even get any of the LED's to light up on the simulation. I think that by the end of the next few semesters I will be able to figure it out, but right now I don't have a clue.
There were a couple of parts that were slightly different, because the student version didn't have the components.
    The assembly instructions called for:
    (4) 100 ohm 1/4w Resistor
    (1) 1 K ohm 1/4w Resistor
    (1) 2.2 K ohm 1/4w Resistor
    (1) 10 K ohm 1/4w Resistor
    (1) 330 K ohm 1/4w Resistor
    (1)100 ohm 1/2w Resistor
    (1) 1 uF Capacitor
    (1) .01 uF Capacitor
    (1) 1N4001 Diode
    (1) 1N4735 Zener Diode
    (1) PN2222 Transistor
    (1) 555 IC
    (2) 74LS107 IC
    (1) 9 V batery
    (2) Green LED
    (2) Red LED
A couple of things that I chose for components that were different were the 100 ohm resistor was suppose to be 1/2w instead of 1/4w, could not see any place to change that. I used a 555_Timer_Rated from the list of 555s. I used a 10 nF Capacitor instead of a .01 uF because it wasn't listed. Also instead of the 74LS107, I used a 74LS107D, which appeared to be a surface mount version from what I could make out from the data sheets I found on them. The one diode that I used was a 1N4001GP and the Zener that I used was a 1N4735A.
The LEDs are suppose to flash in sequence and turn off in sequence. The physical board I used to draw this with worked fine.
I don't have to show a working simulation for my class, I just want to know why it won't run. I retraced all of the connections, but I still might have messed up somewhere.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I have examined the circuit you submitted; A bit hard to understand since the circuit is draw in a none formal way; All the same I note the following:
    GND on IC1 is not connected; run electrical rule check to spot such problems;
    CLR lines on IC1 and IC2 are unconnected;
    In a practical circuit such pins take on a value of logic 1;
In this case the simulation is taking a value of logic 0, I suspect.
    Connect manually to Vcc to put them on logical 1;
    IC1 pin 3 (1J) goes correcttly to IC2 pin 11 (2K);
    But pin 2 (~1Q) should go to IC2 pin 8 (2J);
    But you have taken yours from IC1 pin 7 (~2Q);
Going by the previous stage connections i.e. for
    IC2: 2Q --> 1J; ~2Q --> 1K; 1Q --> 2J (IC1); ~1Q --> 2K (IC1);
    For IC1: 2Q --> 1J; ~2Q --> 1K; it follows that 1Q (IC1)--> 2J (IC2); ~1Q (IC1) --> 2K (IC1);
With the above changes the circuits seems to work i.e. flashing LED. I have cleaned up the circuit to remove a lot of lines and connected the GND on IC2 and CLR lines on IC1 and IC2. I have also put in an oscilloscope so that you can observe the waveform on LED4. The circuit is attached. Thanks.

  • CDs from my MAC won't open on other computers

CDs from my MAC won't open on other computers

    Any computer, Mac or Windows?
If so, it's likely your drive. You have no problem reading them back because your drive wrote it, so the heads are in the same place to read as write.
The problem is the same as way back to the days of floppy disks. If a drive's heads are out of alignment, disks you create will only work well for you. On any other computer, the tracks are not in the standard position.
To check, try using an external drive (or a different one if that's what you're already using). If the problem goes away using a different drive, then your current one is no good.

  • Quiz projects won't run in a browser

I'm running Captivate 7, and I can save my non-quiz items and view them in a browser without issue.
But my quiz is a separate project. I can preview it, take it and post the results when I preview it in a web browser, but when I preview as HTML in a we browser, it won't post and says undefined for Adobe user and PW.
The core problem is that I'm completely unable to view quizzes when published as anything other than and exe file. I've updated to the latest flash, but when I click on the browser icon to launch the quiz in a browser, I get nothing at all.

It's a JApplet, it needs the java plug in....
If you've already got the plugin installed you'll just need to change the tag you're using to load the applet... it'll either be an embed tag or an object tag.. (embed for Netscape, Object for IE)...

  • Captivate 4 - after patch, published projects won't pause but skip ahead

Last week, I installed the patch to bring my version up to Version 4.0.1 Build 1658.
After the patch was installed, if I publish a file with a Table of Contents, it runs fine the first time.  However, the second time I launch the published file, the first slide will display for a split second, and then it jumps to the first quiz question (if I have quiz questions in the project), or to the last slide I visited prior to closing the project.
If I then turn off the TOC and republish, I can navigate around the course, close it and re-launch, and it behaves perfectly.
I would rather use the TOC than have to manually build out the buttons.
I did a search, but I didn't find this problem elsewhere (doesn't mean it's not there, just that I couldn't find it ).
Any ideas about this, or should I submit a bug report?
This is a problem for my company - we've got a lot of folks working on a major Oracle roll-out, and the TOC definitely saves on development time if we could use it.
BTW, we tested the issue with projects that were published the week before the patch was installed.  Projects with the TOC worked properly, and projects without the TOC worked properly.  So it does NOT appear to be an issue with our environment.  This is only happening with files published after the patch was installed that use the TOC.  Yes, I've checked settings on the click boxes and buttons to make sure the pause was still configured correctly.
    Thanks,
    Tichelle

  • Projector won't run on asian computers

I've done a Director MX 2004 v10.1 projector using linked
casts, embedded fonts (just the standards like Arial, Winding) and
xtras like BuddyApi v3.76, Tabuleiro's MpegAdvanced v1.5.2 and
StarsoftMultimedia's DisplayMode v3.0. The projector was compiled
on a Western Europe system, every anti-aliased text was embedded
into Director first and the projector was successfully tested on
many different computers in Europe and America. But unfortunately
if users in Japan or other Aisan countries are trying to start the
projector they get different kinds of error: the message "access
refused", the start screen (projector.bmp) is shown for a second
and then nothing happens or the projector freezes. They all are
using Win XP including ServicecPack 2.
I tried to send those users the fonts used in Director, which
they installed on their system before running the projector. But
    this didn't work as well.
Are there any known issues using Director in asian countries.
Could the problems result in the aisan character set. Has anybody
experience with projectors of Director MX 2004 on asian windows
    systems?
I don't have the faintest idea what could solve my problem.
So i am (and also my job ;-) is) depending on your experience and
    know-how!!! Thanks!

If you are using any extended characters (>127), then
    that's most probably
    the reason.
Asian languages use mbcs, in which certain sequences of two
    bytes map to
    single character.
Because of that, charToNum and related functions work
    differently -and much
    slower- on asian systems.
For more on encodings, you can have a look at:
    http://xtrema.rtr.gr/cArti/?trg=0
Note that the beta version of the Xtra on the site has
    expired (if you want
to try it, turn your clock back a couple of months). A new
    version, that
will include a text member supporting unicode text, asian and
    rtl languages
(+much more) is being developed, and expected to be availabe
    for testing
    within the month.
If you need help with your project, you can use the mail that
    can be found

  • Ooh  When I select Reporting Scorm, project won't run

I can run my course fine in the published version and in preview.  BUT  When I select, Reporting, Standard Scorm and then try and preview the project the course is a foggy colour and it wont run.  I haven't got a SCORM LMS link until next week and wanted to get a test course ready.

    Hi Devon,
One way that you could run a test would be to use SCORM TestTrack from Rustici Software. You can learn more about SCORMTestTrack and SCORM itself by clicking on the link I have included below. Note: Registration to SCORMTestTrack is free.

  • Project won't open but others will in GB.. HELP PLEASE! MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

    Hello people:
I think this will be the most difficult task to solve or maybe fix; if even possible..
Ok so basically i was working on my latest project last nite: a 5 min track with all kinds of midi and real instrument channels, effects and AU, VST and automations, mp3 samples and everything u can possibly do in GB.
I called it "My song2", and after an hour GB crashed all of the sudden...
So i restarted the mac and open "My song2" directly from the GB folder and the project will seem to initialize but then instead of saying: "Loading (piano...) ,etc" it doesn't say anything n it just stays there forever or until i force quit...
Strangely enough GB will open other projects tho... So i automatically though that there was a problem with "My song2" only and not GB....
I found out that the projectData.xml file was the problem.. at first it wouldn't open with Textedit because something was wrong... so i changed the .xml file extension to .nfo that by a miracle it could open with NFO viewer..
Now it looks like the <data> content in the projectData file has a bunch of weird symbols in the middle of the entire thing... like "<,>,▀,╫,╡,⌡,╧" and so on..
    NOW
    here comes the ?!
Can i recover the project by altering the <data> content in the projectData file? or anything to bring that project back to life? maybe a 50% recovery? anything??
    =
If you could find a fix for this... you could be the next genius that the world needs nowadays.. i mean it, seriously. This is top grade stuff..
    Anyhow
i've tried repairing permission, deleting preferences, creating new projects and pasting the old one with all those weird symbols deleted and NOTHING...
im like 99.99% sure that it's a lost cause n that i need to start all over again
BUT! that 0.01% can mean a world of difference..
Please if anybody out there is willin to find a solution please let me know.. im sure many ppl have had a similar and a frustating case like mine.
    God bless you all!!

That looks like a pretty damaged file! I think I have revived a project in the past by messing with the data file, but maybe I was just lucky. I think I took the <data> part of the file and copied it into another project.data file from a project that worked. But if your data itself is messed up (mine contain only letters and an occasional + or / sign), that might not work for you.
But you know that you can retrieve your raw audio recordings, right? So that's the first thing to do, even though it doesn't give you the midi data, and you have to redo your editing.

  • "Export as Quicktime Movie" -- won't play on other computers

When I use the "Export as Quicktime Movie" option and try to play it back on a Mac without FCP installed, it is missing components and won't play back in Quicktime Player. Of course, I can export with various compressions and then it's fine, but sometimes I want that big "original" file. Any thoughts? Thanks!
    Message was edited by: elisenew

You do need the codec you are exporting to installed in the other machine if you wish to play the exported file. A variety of codecs are available only with FCP installed.
A couple of possible solutions are a very high res H.264 or Download [ProRes decoder|http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac] to share a prores file between machines.

Installed 10.5.2 on my g5 dual 2.5 w 4.5 gigs ram (NOT) intel. Now my AE projects won't run. One started to and then quit. This is major for me. Involves dozens of projects. Please help.

Yes, my powerbook is also trouble-free.

And yes, yes, I did repair permissions. I did everything including a "safe" starup, repair permissions many many times, etc. etc. etc.
I'm beginning to think the problem with AE was with non-ae plugins. But then why did automator and software update cease to work?????

  • Executable doesn't run in other computer

    Hello all,
I have built a executable for one of our labview application and it works properly in this PC, the problem is the executable doesn't run in other computers, I've read the documentation sorting it out.
    I checked:
-The OS is the same in both PC.
-I attached the file sepdrv in executable's folder (I am using serial communication).
-Labview Run Time Engine is instaled.
The executable doesn't take the default icon in other computers, does it...

    Hi!
It shouldn't be a licensing problem, and you don't have to have LabView installed on the PC in which your application will run, installer is meant for this! Otherwise, if you had LabView on target PC, it would have been enough to run the VI on the other PC (provided you've the same libraries....).
I use NI Developer Suite 7.1, so in LabVIew 7.1, you have
tools --> Build application or shared library ...
Go to "installer settings", check "create installer", and in "advanced properties" check for what you need for your application to run.
I only have an "evaluation version" of LV 8.5, so I cannot grant you that I can help you, but I'm doing a little check...  please, let me know what LabView do you have!
