Published report requesting DB Login for Dynamic Parameters - V2008

I have a report that is setup as a main report with many sub-reports. The Main report request a set of parameters all are dynamic and 4 are cascading. The sub-reports access one of 2 database connections and the dynamic paramters come from only one of those.
It works fine in design mode and asks for the DB Credentials only once, but when I published it (Crystal Reports Server 2008) and I set the default DB Configurations (I make sure the Use same database logon as when report is run is checked) , it still prompts for the DB Login in InfoView when you go to View the report, but only the connection for the dynamic parameters.
Have I just totally confused Crystal or is there a setting I am missing.
Thanks,

  • How can I remove this extra authorization check for dynamic parameters

    Hello expert,
           I created a new dynamic hirarchical parameters as " client-->policy" in crystal report.   these parameter value are coming from a physical table.  the other part of report extract data by a oracle procedure. when I ran this report in client, it is ok for everything. but when I schedule it or run it in infoview,  I need extra authorization for access these dynamic parameter, eventhough this is not for accessing other parameters.  How can I remove this extra authorization check for dynamic parameters?

    Hi
    Open the crystal designer  Edit the parameter In the prompt window at the existing option you can find the LOV name.
    Open the Business view manager and find that prompt name in u201CRepository Exploreru201D window and select that parameter  right click that parameter  Select edit rights  provide rights for your user name in that window.

  • BI Publisher report output is inconsistent for a given parameter?

    Hi All,
    Thanks in Advance
    I have developed a BI publisher report with P_LOCATION, P_ZONE and etc columns.
    However data in P_ZONE column is inconsistent.
    The report output should be based on the parameter provided for P_ZONE say “3rd North Zone”
    The output of the report should be for that particular zone only, however report output is showing all other zones as well, when i give filter condition like “3rd North%Zone” or “3rd North% Zone” which means if I include ‘%’ with or without space in my filter condition then the report output is correct, why search criteria is correct when I give ‘%’ in the parameter value.
    I have checked running the query, but it works fine when I run in the backend.
    However P_LOCATION parameter is working fine which is quite similar to P_ZONE!
    Please let me know what went wrong!

    Hi,
    based on the prompt value the report column header should also change. You want to change the value of the column heading dynamically based on prompt.You will get this by using the Presentation variable.So,you have to integrate both the bi publisher+rpd.

  • XML publisher report not generating output for huge XML files

    Changed Depreciation Projections Report output type to XML.
    Defined a Data Definition and a new Data Template (RTF) for this report.
    Ran the Depreciation Projection Report to generate the XML output.
    Ran the XML Report Publisher report to generate teh PDF/Excel output of the above report.
    Output generated for smaller XML files. When XML size is big, the program is running for hours without generating the output.
    Teh RTF template is basically a matrix report in which the number of columns in the report is based on the number of periods the report is run for.
    The same is not working in the Desktop version also. The system is hanging when i try to view the preview pdf.
    The XML file size is approximately 33 MB.
    Please let me know if there is any way we can increase the memory size to see the output.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

  • Crystal Reports -  missing dynamic parameters when published to InfoView

    Hi all,
    I'm facing a problem when I publish Crystal Reports 2008 V1 which includes dynamic parameters on InfoView (either on BO EDGE 3.1 or Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1). Problem manifests itself in missing dinamic parameters - I get only static parameter panel and need to write in the value by myself... All other documents like Webi, Deski (on BO EDGE) works fine.
    I have tried to install all latest Service Pack's for Crystal Reports 2008 V1 but it didn't solve the problem. Btw, Crystal Reports 2008 V1 designer is installed on client machine.
    Here are the details of both installations:
    BO EDGE 3.1.
    OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2
    Repository database: MS SQL Server 2005
    CR Server 2008 V1
    OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2
    Repository database: MySQL
    Does anyone had a same problem?
    I will appreciate any help!
    Best regrads

    I had the same situation when I changed from a SQL server 2005 data source to a SQL server 2008 data source while using CR 2008.  Change printer option default in the report designer to use u201CNo Printer (optimize for screen display) and republish to InfoView.   Not sure why this would work, but it resolved the issue for us.

  • Dynamic list of values in CR 2008 - request of login to database

    I am using CR2008 with VB2005. I created simple application which generate report on different SQL Server 2005 databases.
    Report uses OLE.DB connection to SQL Server, I pass logon information in VB using "SA" username and password. The same simple report works great on different databases with one exception: if parameter (dynamic list of values) is used in report it runs correctly only on database it was created (connection to this database is saved in report and can be seen in Database->Set Datasource Location). Changing connection to other databases in VB during runtime causes CR to ask for username and password (in standard parameter window). It looks, like Crystal have one connection for report and the other for dynamic list of values parameter. I pass connection information to report using ConnectionInfo(). I loop through alll tables in report and apply connection:
    For Each crTable In crTables
                    crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
                    crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
                    crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
    Next
    I tried to pass connection information also to parameter but I couldn't find such possibility.

    This is a known issue (Tracking number is ADAPT01333806.) and a note has been written,  unfortunately it is not yet published. Below is the note content, including a work-around / resolution. You may also want to try FP 2.3, see that helps. (I'll break this post into two as I'll loose the formatting if I don't.
    Reproducing the Issue
    Use Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 to create a report with dynamic parameter(s)
    Use the following code from the Crystal Reports SDK for VS .NET
    Dim crDatabase As Database
    Dim crTables As TablesDim crTable As Table
    Dim crTableLogOnInfo As TableLogOnInfo
    Dim crConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo
    crReportDocument.Load("<path>")
    crReportDocument.Refresh()
    crConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
    With crConnectionInfo
         .ServerName = "<New Server Name>"
          .Password = "<password>"
    End With
    crDatabase = crReportDocument,Database
    crTables = crDatabase.Tables
    For Each crTable In crTables
         crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
         crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
         crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
    Next
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
    The above code works with Crystal Reports 2008 SP 1

  • Business Objects Edge 3.1 - Dynamic Parameters prompting for password

    Hi,
    I installed BO Edge 3.1 and Crystal Reports 2008.
    Designed report which is using dynamic parameter. Then I deployed this report to BO Edge. In CMC I configured database parameters, so user doesnt have to input it everytime when viewing or refreshing report.
    The problem is that when there is dynamic parameter in CMC or InfoView it is asking for database credentials anyway.
    I found out on the couple forums that it is cause by dynamic parameter. And I found also solution using Business View Manager.
    The problem is that BO Edge 3.1 doesnt have in the Client Aplications Business View Manager.
    So my questions are :
    1. Is there possibility to get Business View Manager for BO Edge?
    2. Are there any other possibilities how to specify database credentials also for dynamic parameters so user doesnt have to do that anymore?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • How to create Dynamic Parameters for between dates

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to create a crystal report with between dates using dynamic parameters.
    I am getting data from 'BEx Query' where already filters were defined on Date field. So While I am creating a crystal report these filters are displaying under 'Parameter Fields' automatically as Static. When I execute the report I am getting these Date's as Dropdown box. But as per the 'help' in crystal reports, static values won't get updated if any changes were taken place in backend system.
    I have created a Dynamic parameter 'StartDate', but the values are not getting populated in Dropdown box.
    Please let me know how to achieve this requirement.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Scheduling Repot in InfoView - Dynamic Parameters.....

    If I have some parameters set as dynamic and I try to schedule the report through InfoView....the login prompt appears.  I do not want my users to have to log in ever.
    I have the database configuration set - To Use original database logon information from the report and To Use same database logon as when report is run.  When I view a report on-demand I don't get the prompt.
    Does anyone know how I prevent the login prompt from appearing when a report is scheduled and has dynamic parameters?  We do not want our users to have SQL id's to the database - only Infoview logins.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Lisa,
    When you create a dynamic prompt in Crystal and save the report to enterprise a business view will be created in the repository automatically. This Business View will have a datasource associated with it (used to connect to and obtain the dynamic list of params from the DB).
    It is on this datasource that you need to manually code the login details and select do not prompt at runtime. You can do this by using the Business View Manager Tool. Best practise for managed reports is to create your dynamic lists first in Business View Manager not Crystal and then present these to your report developers - this will give you some central control over the lists.
    See Crystal Reports user guide/Business View administrator guide.
    Hope this helps.

  • Calling XML Publisher report(RDF based) From OAF

    Hi All,
    I have requirement where i need to call one of the custom XML Publisher report from oaf by passing the parameters.
    and i dnt want this using concurrent program.
    I have an idea of calling xml publisher report which is Data Template based(XML).
    http://oracle-hack.blogspot.ae/2012/04/launching-xml-publisher-from-oa.html
    but in my case the report is RDF based.
    They are generating the XML using one of the custom rdf. How can we achieve this?
    Please help.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Yeah yes. this method i know in my case the Custom XML Report is based on a rdf.

  • Dynamic parameters data source

    Database: Sybase ASA 9
    Crystal: Developer 11 SP4 , activex viewer
    Application: Powerbuilder 11
    I am embedding crystal reports into a powerbuilder 11 application. The crystal reports (.rpt files) are created in Crystal reports developer 11 sp4. The application programmatically change the DSN for the crystal reports to connect to the database that the customer is using. This works fine except when the report contains dynamic parameters (parameter select values from table in database to select from). The dynamic parameter(s) still references the DSN used in development as appose to the new (changed) DSN , although the rest of the report use the "new" DSN. I have spend many many hours on this and are at a lost on how to fix this ?
    Following is in short the code I use:
    FOR li_table = 1 TO iole_crx_report.database.tables.count
    // get connection properties collection for this table
    iole_crx_connection_info = iole_crx_report.database.tablesli_table.connectionproperties
    iole_crx_connection_info.DeleteAll()
    iole_crx_connection_info.add("DSN",itrx_database_info.Lock )
    iole_crx_connection_info.add("User ID",itrx_database_info.userid)
    iole_crx_connection_info.add("Password", itrx_database_info.dbpass)
    iole_crx_connection_info.add("UseDSNProperties",TRUE)
    iole_crx_connection_info.add("AllowCustomConnection", TRUE)
    NEXT
    iole_crx_Database.Verify()

    Hi Ludek,
    Thanks for the reply.
    The machine that I am testing on have an installed version of CR 11 SP4 development. I can change the report source for any report that does not have dynamic parameters. At the moment the reports that I am testing does not have subreports. It is a very simple two table report using dynamic parameters.
    Changing the datasoure programmatically with both data sources (DB servers) running on the machine eveything works fine. When I refer to the two data sources I mean the data source that was used to create the report and the datatsource that I want to change to in the application to retrieve data from.
    Does reports with dynamic parameters auto create subreports for the dynamic parameter(s) ?
    I have tested this and it does not seem so. That could have possibly explained this.
    I hope this gives you a clearer idea of what is happening?

  • Changing Dynamic Parameters Database Location

    The user creates a report using an access database called MyDatabase.MDB located in c:\MyFolder.
    The report uses a dynamic parameter from MyDatabase.MDB
    The user now wishes to run the report against MyDatabase.MDB located in Z:\SharedFolder
    I do the following
    crReport.DiscardSavedData
    crDBTable.SetTableLocation "Z:\SharedFolder\MyDatabase.MDB", "", ""
    The problem is the report correctly uses the data from Z:\SharedFolder\MyDatabase.MDB
    However the Dynamic Parameters is still built using the data from C:\MyFolder\MyDatabase.MDB

    What version of CR runtime are you using?
    If it's the RDC then there is no API to set location for Dynamic Parameters. RDC is old technology and has not been updated since version 9 to take advantage of any new functionality including those types of parameters.
    Only option is to alter your report to not use Dynamic Parameters or convert to CR .NET assemblies using RAS.
    Thank you
    Don
