PUT QUERY RESULT ON ONE ROW INSTEAD OF MULTIPLE ONE
Hi
I have two tables with the column id_table1 to join them.
My first table "table_one" contain 3 fields and one record.
id_table1 : 1
table1 : project1
date_project : 2005/08/01
My second table "table_two" contain 3 fileds and 3 records which contain the id 1 on the join column.
id_table2 : 1
table2 : pdf
id_table1 : 1
id_table2 : 2
table2 : excel
id_table1 : 1
id_table2 : 3
table2 : text
id_table1 : 1
If i did a simply join, the result is appear in 3 lines:
1 project1 2005/08/01 excel
1 project1 2005/08/01 pdf
1 project1 2005/08/01 text
Is this possible to have this result in one query :
1 project1 2005/08/01 excel pdf text
I mean to have the result in one row and a separated column for each item of the table2.
We know how to do it with one column concatened ("excel pdf text") but not with separated column
("excel" "pdf" "text")
Thanks if someone has a solution.

Set Text Item To SQL Query Result
I am trying to set a text item to a SQL query result. Something like the following:
(I am trying to accomplish this in the SOURCE portion, set to 'SQL Query' source type, of the text item properties)
SELECT empno FROM emp WHERE empno = :SEARCH_EMPNO;
This only displays as the literal text when the application renders and not the value from the SQL query.
I apologize if this has already been posted but I could not find what I am looking for. I have seen posts that reference a pre-region computation but do not know the exact steps to accomplish the results I want.
Thanks in advance for anyone's time to help me with my issue.
KyleScott,
The literal that displayed (I have fixed it) was the actual SQL statement: SELECT empno FROM emp WHERE empno = :SEARCH_EMPNO;
I have resolved the issue, using SQL Query as the "Source Type" and Always, replacing any existing value in session state as the "Source Used" for the properties of the item.
What I was trying to accomplish is a search text item that would return the data for that record in a table into other text items, for each column in that record, for update; based on the search text item as a unique SQL query search for that record.
Thank you for your quick reply!

SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 - Query Result assumes keyboard focus
In the Early Adopter 1 release of SQL Developer and noticed that after running a statement in a worksheet the focus for the keyboard is now in the query results pane. This change in behavior from version 2 is slightly disruptive and makes it harder to iteratively build queries or search for data without having to continuously keep moving the cursor back to the worksheet. I am using the linux version if it makes a difference and it happens both when click the run statement button or use the ctrl+enter shortcut key.
I have been trying out the preview release and all around it looks good and has some very nice improvements. Just this and the missing export to clipboard are the only issues I've had so far.
Edited by: user5490329 on Oct 14, 2010 9:06 AMI agree with the majority of people here that this is annoying and I'd also prefer to leave the input focus in the SQL Worksheet after I hit CTRL+ENTER, so I am looking forward to the fix.
However, in some cases, it would come in handy if there was a shortcut key to quickly get to the query result tab, just like in TOAD, where F6 is used for this purpose. The same key is reserved for autotrace in SQL Developer, so another function key could be used. -
Search directory of PDF's based on Query Results?
Hello - Is it possible to search a directory of .pdf files
based on a
returned list of query results? For example I query a product
database
that returns a list of Product Names and Product ID's. Based
on that
list of query results, I'd like see if a pdf exists in the
directory
that has the same name as the Product ID, and then create a
link to that
.pdf.
Make sense?
Thank you,
Steve MillerI figured it out.

Is it possible to put the results from a query in a variable to use in the bean class?
Hello, I'm using JDeveloper 12.1.2.0.0
I would like to keep the result of my queries (the method i created in the AppModule) in a RichTable or other type of variable so i can have the results stored and i don't have to do unnecessary queries after. I don't think the query is the problem but keeping the results.
I've tried to do that by using this:
public String testVFactSales(String conditions) {
PreparedStatement query = getDBTransaction().createPreparedStatement("" + "select * from v_fact_sales " + conditions, 0);
//ResultSet rs;
ResultSet result;
//RichTable result;
//String result = null;
try {
//query.setString(1, conditions);
// query.execute();
query.execute();
result = query.getGeneratedKeys();
query.close();
System.out.println("Result: " + result.toString());
return result.toString();
} catch (SQLException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
return "";
As you can see, i've already tried some solutions but so far i only get errors (cannot convert or null exception, when i try to put the result in a richtable in my bean class)
Any ideas?
This is very important for me, since it would improve the performance of my project a lot.

How to put variable selection and the query result the same screen
Dear all,
how can I put the variable selection and the query result in the same screen? Please advise. Thanks.
Jin MingNot sure if you are saying you want the prompts on the same page as the results... however in 7.0 with BEx Analyzer, you can insert a text object from the design toolbar and assign it to the variable.... this way, lets say you run query for period 6, then the text object will display "6" on the same area where the query results are.

static number is not in order.
You could use the function queryAddColumn to add the numbers as a separate column to the query.
Let us suppose the name of the query is "myQuery". Then you could proceed as follows
<!---Define your "static" list of numbers --->
<cfset staticList = "11,12,32,15,36,13,23,14,33,16,44,31,17,34,18">
<!--- Create an array from the static list. --->
<cfset staticNrArray = ArrayNew(1)>
<cfset staticNrArray = listToArray(staticList)>
<!--- Add the array as a column to the query. --->
<cfset nColumnNumber = QueryAddColumn(myQuery, "staticNr", "integer", staticNrArray)>
<!--- Verify whether it works as expected--->
<cfdump var="#myQuery#">
The list I have given here has 15 numbers. This will naturally instruct ColdFusion to add a new column named staticNr, having 15 rows. You might like to know that the queryAddColumn function enables padding.
Here is how it works. Suppose that the query originally had only 8 rows before you added the column(of 15 rows). Then, in the new query, ColdFusion would pad the last 7 rows of the other columns with null values. If the original query had 20 rows instead, then Coldfusion would pad the last 5 rows corresponding to the staticNr-column with null values. -

Iterate query result - put specific rows in a collection and do output
JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0
Oracle Lite: 10.2.0.1.0
Browser: IE 7
Hi,
please help me in working on following requirement:
1. Iterate the View Object Query Result
2. Do some calculation on the Rows, lets say:
Concatination of column1 and column2 and place it in a non database Attribute "column3"
3. How to handle/place the non database attribute?
4. Fetch specific rows from the query result; there should be a comparison, like checking master and detail hierachy struktur:
Take Column1_ID (Master) check in columns2_ID (Detail), when found detail take this Row and place it in a buffer (Maybe ArrayList, or something like that)
5. Show the Chace(ArrayList) to user, in a form of View Object, with standard functions like sorting and filtering
Till now my process of solving the above requiremnts are:
To Point 1:
Created a service method in Application Implementation Class
public void iterateEmp(){
EmployeesVOImpl vo = getEmployeesVO1();
while (vo.hasNext()){
EmployeesVORowImpl row = (EmployeesVORowImpl)vo.next();
System.out.println(row.getEmployeeId() + " | " + row.getFirstName() + " | " + row.getLastName() + " | " + row.getEmail());
//row.setCalcCol(row.getFirstName() + "," + row.getLastName());
}To point 2:
Added an attribute to the View Object, with updateable and Queryable options. Place it on the JSPX Page.
With setter method, filled with values, for example (non Database Attributes Name is CalcCol):
Name:
//see above code
row.setCalcCol(row.getFirstName() + "," + row.getLastName());When doing so, on initial Call the values will be representated, but when sorting o filtering will be done, the values then will be erased.
3. Added an Attribute in View Object "Attributes Panel".
Here the XML Code of the View Object:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
<!DOCTYPE ViewObject SYSTEM "jbo_03_01.dtd">

</ViewObject>To Point 4:
There should be a specific sort order, which i have to code in ADF.
Just to give an overview:
Colum1 and Column2 (nothing to do with the emp table) have relationship. Several hierachies are existing in the Query Result.
For identifying the start point of any of these hierachies, i have to iterate through the Query Result and fetch these start point
and buffer it in an array or something like that.So in the end i have to get the same query Result but with different Sort Order.
How to buffer theses Rows (Array?) and show in a View Object?
Can we use the same view Object for solving that, or should we use another View Object which catches the new Result Set?
To Point 5:
The Result should be, as mentioned above, a View Object including new Result Set, which can provide standard behavior (sort, filter)
I hope the requirement is defined clearly enough, so maybe you can make some suggestions on that.
Thank you for replies.
Edited by: user9198377 on 13.07.2011 02:52Hi.. You can do this without DB View. Have CalcCol transient attribute in VO. Instead of iterating VO rows and setting CalcCol attr, generate View Row Impl class. Inside getCalcCol(), write your logic. This will be called during each and every request so that transient attr data won't become null during sorting and filtering. If your VO is entity driven, do the same in Entity impl class

Mapping query result to excel sheet
Hi Experts,
i have a requirement where in i need to map the result into particular cellls of the excel sheet, because the excel sheet acts as front end which has graphs and by just putting the result in particular cells of excel the graph is automatically generated, so is there any way where i can map the result cells into particulat cells in excel?
Thank you.Hi Shetty,
You might have stopped reading this thread since you have the answer you need for now. From experience, let me tell you what might happen next.
If the query definition is ever changed ... say, a new characteristic is added because a different user has a slightly different need ... the result table will move down by a few rows and your equation no longer works.
If you think this might happen, let me tell you a very easy way to get around it.
1. Name the range(s) you will use. If the first result is in cell B31 on Sheet1, then go to cell B31 on Sheet1 and Select Insert>>Name>>Define. Call it something you will remember, like "LastMonthSales" (no spaces, but underline is OK)
2. use the range name in your formula. This happens automatically, in fact. If you press = then click on cell B31, Excel will automatically use the range name instead of the range address. Excel LIKES names.
3. now, go to the Visual Basic Editor (Tools >> Macro >> Visual Basic Editor; or, Alt+F11). In your workbook, there should be a subroutine as follows:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
If you do not find it, add it. This probably also means that you are using Excel 2002 or later and have not set your Macro security to "trust access to Visual Basic Project"; so, change that security setting (Tools >> Options >> Security >> Macro Settings).
The visual basic code is very simple. For each result that you need to map you will want one line of code like this one:
resultArea.Cells(4, 2).Name = "LastMonthSales"
The Cells(4, 2) are counted from the top left of the result table. So, in this case if B31 = Cells(4,2), then the top left of my result table must have been in cell A28 in Excel.
This subroutine will be run automatically every time that the query is refreshed. So, if the result table moves, the names will move with it. One less thing to worry about.
If you do not think you need to do this today, don't! No sense in doing work that is not necessary. But, save this. I suspect that some day you will need it.

Pass query result as parameter to javascript
Hello,
I'm a beginner with javascript, so (maybe) sorry for this
question.
Is it possible to use a query result as parameter in a
javascript function
for example like this?
<cfquery name="select_data">
select name from user_table
</cfquery>
<script language="javascript">
function(#select_data.name#)
</script>
Background is: I have to validate an input field with some
values which are saved in a database table.
This values can be dynamic , so I don't want to put this
values into the cfm-file.
Any ideas?
ClaudiaEach column in a cf query is effectively a 1D array. You can
use the toscript function to send this array to js. -
Query result to ASCII file output
Seems like there SHOULD be some rediculously simple solution
to this - but I sure haven't found it yet! I have a query which
produces the a varying number of columns (based on a multi-select
cfselect) which I need to output to a comma delimited ASCII (.TXT
or .DAT or .CSV file). I have all the steps worked out when the
number of columns and their names are known, but I need to make
this variable. First choice would be to be able to just "DUMP" the
query result into a text file. CFDUMP can send results to a text
file, but NOT in comma delimited format, and with all kinds of info
besides just the basic data. (NOT good!) Second choice, since the
"append to text file" uses an output property that expects a comma
delimited string variable would be to use CFLOOP to loop thru the
rows in the query and put them (a row at a time) into a variable,
then use that variable for the file append. Problem is I can't find
a way to just say "send *ALL* to the string variable. Every example
I have been able to find includes specifying the column NAMES when
doing anything with a row in the query result!!! Short of a brute
force series of if/then statements that specify EACH POSSIBILITY
(in this case 60 - 75 of them, and the number WILL GROW!) I haven't
been able to find a solution. There's GOTTA BE A WAY!!!!! :)auntiealias
> I tried that, but as far as I could figure you still
have to have a specific column name
Look at the udf more closely. If you read the documentation
it states all of the parameters are optional, except the query. So
if you do not supply column names, the function will use the
columnList variable to determine the names of the columns in the
query. If you look at the actual code, notice it uses array
notation to extract the values (not evaluate) .
... (code to create query) ...
<!--- pass in the query object only ---->
