Putting files to test server

Hi,
I am using the latest version of Dreamweaver, which seems to
have its own mind. I am using the product in conjunction with MS
SourceSafe and a testing server. I have each site setup so that i
have to manually check the file out using MS SourceSafe before i
can edit the file using Dreamweaver. I have selected the box
"Automatically upload files to server on save" which up until a few
hours ago was perfect. When i made a change to any file and hit
save, it would update the file on the test server. It has since
decided to change its mind..now when i hit save it updates the
version in SourceSafe but doesnt copy the changes to the testing
server. It has made this change for ALL of my sites so i cant
figure out what the problem is.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance
Al

Just to follow on...I believe it is the "Maintain
synchronization information" option that is causing the problem.
When i explore the "Remote Info" tab for each site, it has disabled
this option and unchecked it - even if i change the value in the
registry that corresponds to this setting, the next time i open DW
it has disabled it again!!!
Any ideas?

  • How do I get DW8 it to depoy .js files to testing server

I'm using dw8 and I set up a testing server, how do I get it to depoy .js files there automatically without having to use windows explorer

PREFERENCES > Site > Dependent files: enable Prompt on put/check in.
After this, the next time you upload a file, you will be prompted whether you want to upload dependent files.  Click the "do not ask again checkbox" and answer YES.  From that point until you next change this preference setting, all dependent files will be candidates for upload at each PUT operation (they won't be put if the local and 'remote' timestamps are the same).

  • How to stop my Preview button from auto putting files to the server?

Hi, I just had a tech guy to my house helping me with dreamweaver and when he left my program is working differently.  It did not automatically put files when I previewed them.  Now I can't preview anything without it putting the file to the server.  I created a contact form as a php file.  Could that have anything to do with this change?  I appreciate your assistance!

Hi, I actually had to turn off the test button to the server to stop it.  In preferences nothing was changed.  I have checked "prompt on put" and "prompt on get".
It only stops putting my files while I have the testing unchecked.  Thanks for your reply.  I really appreciate it.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro - FTP.exe not able to put file to FTP Server

    Hi
We have replaced our Windows XP environment to Windows 8.1 Pro. Now I have problem with sending files through FTP to very old devices. Devices are runninng FTP Servers. Each time I try to "PUT" file on Windows 8.1 I receive message after some time:
    "Connection closed by remote host"
If I make the same on Windows XP file is stored on FTP successfully.
From Windows 8.1 I am able to upload software only via Filezilla, but I need command line solution like FTP.exe or ncFTP.exe (non of them are able to stor file)
I have observed in Wireshark, that ftp.exe sends about 80kB of data, waits for some time and then it stops.
    Summary of my problem:
    Source Appl
    Destination
      Status
    Win XP ftp.exe
    FTP Server upload ok
    Win 8.1 ftp.exe
    FTP Server upload failed
    Win 8.1 ncFTP.exe
    FTP Server upload failed
    Win 8.1 filezilla
FTP Server upload ok (but no command line solution)
    Win 8.1 environment:
    - standard installation of Windows 8.1 with newest Microsoft patches
    - firewall ports - opened for inbound and outbound traffic
    - no antivirus
    FTP Server on problematic devices:
    - old FTP Server, transfer in passive mode
I need command line solution tu upload files. Now I am not able to upload 1500 devices as we don't have Windows XP anymore.
What I have observed, when I type "PUT file" it takes about 20-30 seconds to start transfer on Windows XP or through filezilla.
Is there any problem with timeout in Windows 8.1 when it transfer files to old FTP server (working in passive mode)?
    Thanks and regards,
    Marcin

  • Suddenly can't put files to remote server

    Hi there,
In Dreamweaver 5.5 (OS 10.7) I suddenly can't put files to the remote server. I've been using Dreamweaver for just over a year and this has never been a problem before. My site is: www.peawitpress.co.uk
The updated files go through the normal process of being "put" to the server (I don't get an error message or anything when synchronising), but when I check the live site the changes don't appear. I've tried refreshing the page and emptying the cache, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that I can connect to my web server and have verified the root directory and they are both fine.
The only thing that is unusual when synchronising is that (for the past day) the six files in the attached screenshot always want to synchronise (even though they haven't been updated). I deleted them from the site and added them again in case they somehow became corrupted, but they still randomly want to synchronise.
Any suggestions? It seems like there would be an easy solution for this, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated!
    Thanks and best wishes,
    Alexandria

This has happened to me a few times in CS6. I think it's a memory thing.
Close DW.  Reboot your computer.  Open DW.
If you still cannot FTP to server, go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache.

  • I Can`t put files on my server

I have trouble whit send file on my server. Fetch and Capitan FTP stop transfer files after few sec. When I put one big file there is no problem. My router is Linksys WAG54G v.1.
PS. Sorry for my English ^^

Well, I'm not sure. As far as a script to wait for the video to load, No.
Allowing time for video to load by watching and seeing what happens, yes, like an hour!
The FLV is 9 MB but I don't think that is too big.

  • Can't upload "put" files to remote server unless they are in a folder. Please help.

I have done many searches on this and found no solutions. Here is the problem:
When I upload a file from my local site to the remote server it works fine as long as that file is contained in a folder.
    Example:
I can upload an image from my images folder, or a template page from my template folder with no problem.
BUT, I can not upload any web/html pages, my CSS page, site map, or any file for that matter that is simply in the root directory but not in it's own folder.
When I try to do that I get this error:
index.html - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot put index.html.  Access denied.  The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.   Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured.
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not completed.
    Files with errors: 1
    index.html
So every time I make a change to my index page I can't upload it to the server without getting that error unless I use a 2nd party program like Filezilla - which works fine. It is only Dreamweaver doing this.
I have been using dreamweaver for a long time and had no problems with this site. This all started happening out of no where. and it is happening on my work and home computer.
I made no changes to my server preferances or anythijng like that.
I was just doing my thing - being happy - and then BAM, not happy any more....

Hi there. First off thank you for your interest and your help.
I have done what you suggest probably 30 times as I have obsessed over this crazy problem for a couple straight weeks before I finaly gave up on CS5.5
I'm not sure what you mean by REMOTE server. The only server settings I am aware of are the ones in Dreamweaver. Here they are:
    5.0 Settings:
Server Name = the same values on each
    Connect Using = FTP
    FTP Address = same numeric value on 5.0 & 5.5 port 21
User name = same on both
    Password = same on both
Root directory = is blank (I have tried it using / with no luck as well)
    web URL = http://ftp.westbrookadvertising.com/www/htdocs/
Passive FTP is checked & Use FTP Peformance optimization is checked.
    5.5 Settings:
Server Name = the same values on each
    Connect Using = FTP
    FTP Address = same numeric value on 5.0 & 5.5 port 21
User name = same on both
    Password = same on both
Root directory = is blank (I have tried it using / with no luck as well)
    web URL = http://ftp.westbrookadvertising.com/www/htdocs/
Passive FTP is checked & Use FTP Peformance optimization is checked.

  • How to put files in a server subfolder?

How do you make sure that DW uploads a website into a sub folder. Working in DW CS5.5  I use godaddy and I'm trying to put from DW into a sub folder so that a new website I'm loading doesn't interfere with my primary domain name. It's something you can do with file zilla but I prefer working from DW if I can to accomplish this.
I would really appreciate help with this.Iwork in CS5.5
    Thank you.

There are also instances where you are calling for pictures from an "Images" folder (capitol I) and others from an "images" folder (lower case i).
Your server sees Images as different from images, so it gives a 404 File Not Found error for anything referencing the capitol I "Images" folder. You'll need to correct those as well.
EDIT: The incorrect references seem to be mainly located in your css. You also have a stray </div> at the end of your page just before the <script>. Remove the <div> below...
    <div id="apDiv1"></div>
    </div>
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgDown:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif", imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    </script>
    </body>

  • Suddenly can't put files to remote server (again)

    Hello,
In Dreamweaver 5.5 (OS 10.7) I suddenly can't FTP to the remote server. I had this problem a couple months ago (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5145574#5145574) and it was fixed by the following suggestion:
Close DW.  Reboot your computer. Open DW. If you still cannot FTP to server, go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache.
This worked for me the last time, but unfortunately it hasn't solved the current problem.
At the moment, the updated files go through the normal process of being "put" to the server, but the changes don't appear when I check the live site. I've tried refreshing the page and emptying the cache. The files seem to be uploading to the correct location (they are not being put into a sub folder or anything). I've verified that I can connect to my web server. I haven't changed anything in my site definition and this problem just appeared out of the blue.
Just like when this happened to me before, there are random files that want to synchronise (even though they haven't been updated), but nothing changes on the remote server. I've also tried to synchronize by 'deleting remote files not on local drive', but that doesn't help.
Here is a glimpse of my current FTP log, in case that is useful:
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

  • How can we put file  in Content Server (HTTP)

    Hi
I have PDF file or Text file which i had to place a in Content Server( HTTP ).
please tell me is there any program to place fiel.
    Thanks
    Sontosh

You cannot do this through the database. The database server knows nothing about your client PC and cares even less. What you want to do can be done via a straight OS command like FTP. If you want to automate this you'll have to do it through the client.
There are many ways to do it, it depends on your client environment. For insatnce, I'm currently on a project that uses Java to turn client PC files into bitstreams and then inserts them as CLOBs into a database table. Doing something similar in Forms should be a piece of cake with the D2KWUTIL library. Alternatively you could use HOST to initiate a FTP session.

  • Can't publish or "put" files to remote server

    Dear All,
I can't publish my website to the remote server, even though everything seems to be working properly with connection to the remote server.  No error messages and the successful connection message appears.  I have emptied out the Safari cache but still do not see the updates appearing on the website.  I'm working with Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Very frustrating.

  • Put files... local- remote test- remote production

Using DW 8, i can't get my local files to be put to the
remote test server. They go directly to the remote production
server. The test and production sites are on different servers.
Ideally i would like to be able to put to the test server, review
the changes, and then put the files from the test server to the
production server. Is this possible to go from local to test, then
    test to production?
Please let me know if this is possible and how to do this. Or
point me to any documentation that may cover this exact
    issue.

It is possible to go from local to test. And from local to
    remote.
If you want to go from test to remote, you'll have to create
    a second site
definition with the test folder as the local root.

  • Reading a file from ftp server

    Hi
I am able to put file on ftp server using ftp adapter. But same settings are not working while polling file on ftp.
Do i need to do some settings for get operation??

    Hi,
Check the file permissions and for testing give all read/write/execute permissions to the file to be read from FTP. Also check the file modification date of the file.
Check for the logs at 2 places for any error messages:
    - SOA server diagnostics logs
    - FTP server logs
You can also enable the FINEST level of Adapter logs for adapters and see for the detailed errors in the diagnostic logs.
    FMW Console > right click soa-infra > Logs > Log Configuration > expand oracle.soa > set Trace32 : FINEST for oracle.soa.adapter

  • Mac Test Server set up issues

    first day notes:
I've spent the last two days transitioning into Dreamweaver and setting up my test server MySQL PHP and Apache by following online help, tutorials and recommendations. I've Terminaled MAMPed, and installed more crap than I wanted to fill my hard drive with.  I've done everything I can think of just so I can see what the site I'm working on will look like in reality (using Server Side Includes) before posting as I'm still in the proposal stages of this project.
All files are relative to the document and not root
preview using temporary file is checked
    Testing Server folder is: MacintoshHD:Library:WebServer:Documents:sitename
Testing Server URL Prefix is: http://127.0.0.1/sitename.com/
    FF and Safari give me:
    Not Found
The requested URL /MarcJanowitz.com/TMPV8Y2WAUZU.shtml was not found on this server.
I'm used to iWeb but it clearly doesn't have the functionality I need, which is why I'm trying to graduate.  I can't use DW if I can't see what i'm creating.  I can't rely on faith when I don't have the experience with this program to have the faith.
I've been all over google and the forums since 5pm yesterday (short nap in the middle) and it looks like i'm doing everything I'm told.
I'm afraid I did something in terminal I shouldn't have or something slightly wrong in my installation/implementation of MySQL PHP and Apache. Or that i'm misunderstanding what I'm supposed to be putting in for "Testing Server URL Prefix" or something.  I need to find out asap whether this is a lost cause or fixable so I know whether to cut my losses.
    the next day i tried:
apache is set to run by setting my web sharing on
i changed the line that said 127.0.0.1 in my config.inc.php. back to localhost so i could try
    Try:  http://localhost/sitename.com
I'd switched because i was getting "Re: #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)" and I found these:
MySQL :: Re: #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)
    MySQL :: &lt;&lt;&lt; THE SOLUTION - SOLUTION SUMMARY &gt;&gt;&gt; &lt;&lt;&lt; READ THIS FIRST &gt;&gt;&gt;
now that i look at those pages again, perhaps just switching 127.0.0.1 back to local host  in both places isn't enough
i've sort of lost track of the changes i've made now
I switched the line in manage sites to lowercase to match the folder
PHP and MySQL were running last night before i shut down.  How do I make sure they're running now that i've started up again?
as of now, still getting "not found"
I know there are similar topics but i'm certain i've gotten myself in a unique enough situation that it is worth a new discussion because i can't find one close enough to what i've done
    thanks!

3)don't know where you mean when you say:
simply declare those ports in the call... i.e. localhost:8889 for mysql and to see the website localhost:8888
I explained this before. If you use the default MAMP ports, you need to use http://localhost:8888/ instead of http://locahost/ in the URL prefix of the Testing server definition. Also, when creating a MySQL connection, use localhost:8889 instead of localhost in the Server field.
If you have stopped the preinstalled version of Apache in System Preferences, as well as stopping the version of MySQL that you installed from a dmg, you can change the ports in MAMP. See the following screenshot, which is taken from the tutorial on setting up a PHP development environment:
The screenshot shows the default MAMP ports. If you click the "Set to default Apache and MySQL ports" button, those values will change to 80 and 3306 respectively. If you do that, and you get a green light from both MySQL and Apache, you can use http://localhost/ and localhost in the testing server and MySQL connection dialog boxes.
If you still get errors when trying to test a page in Dreamweaver, please give precise details of the values you have entered in the Testing server folder and URL prefix fields of the Testing Server section of the Site Definition dialog box.
