Putting icon in the Jtable cell

Can I put the Icon or image in the table cell.?
I am Using Jtable and default model for that.
Waht should be done to place the icon or image in particular cell which will be based on some condition check.
thank you
sumant

Read the [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html#sorting]Table Sorting example. An icon is placed in the header to indicate the direction of the sort. They probably use a custom renderer since the header assumes the data for the headers is a String Object.

  • Resizing the JTable Cell horizontal width

    Sir/Madam,
    How can i resize the JTable cell's horizontal width. I know the JTable's column width can be resized. I dont want to resize the entire JTable column. But i need to resize individual JTable cell's horizontal width. Thanks in advance.

    I think that's not possible. What kind of results are you expecting ? If the cells of a column are different widths, what are you going to do with the extra space of the narrower cells ?
    What are you displaying in the cells ? Maybe you can narrow the contents of the cells, and not the cells.

  • Display a text  with icon in a JTable cell and a textarea on click of icon

    Hello,
    I need to modify the JTable, so that in some cells I can display a text with a small icon or symbol, on click of the the icon or symbol a small JTextArea or a display should open exactly at the position of mouse click to display list of text values.
    I searched this forum, but could not find the right solution... a code example will be good....

    Are you using an annonymous inner class for your mouse listener? I think this coudl cause some problems in your case.
    Try creating your own listener class e.g.
    class myListener extends MouseListener(){....}
    in this class, add a field such as 'name' - set with the constructor. So when you create your "outer table" write something like..
    outerTable.addMouseListener(new myListener("outer"));
    And when you create the inner table, write something like
    innerTable.addMouseListener(new myListener("inner"));
    Then when you capture Mouse click events, you can work out whether the click came from an outer table or inner table:
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e){
    if(this.name.equals("inner")).....
    else.....
    In this way you should avoid the problem of knowing which table was clicked on...and still us the same mouse listener.
    I hope this is what you mean!
    Chris.

  • Which decide the JTable cell renderer behavior

    Hi,
    I have a subclass of JTable in which I overwrite the JTable.valueChanged() function ( which is used to implement the ListSelectionListener)
    I have called setCellSelectionEnabled(true); to enable only the cell selection
    I find if I don't call super.valueChanged() in myTable. valueChanged() method, the table rendering is in correct. For example,
    first I select cell at row=2, col=3 (2, 3),
    the cell get rendered.
    then I select cell (0,3).
    I find no any cell get rerendered.
    but I hope this time the previous selected cell and the new selected cell are re-rendered.
    This problem only happens on the same column.
    If I first select cell (2,3) then select cell (2,5), then both of these cell get rerendered as I want.
    However, If I call super.valueChanged(), all the cell re-render works fine.
    I can see in the JTable.valueChanged(), it has varibles as:
    lastSelectedRow, lastSelectedCol, but I don't find them used in any tableCellRenderer.
    I wonder where in the JTable code or any related code it call the table cell renderer when cell selection changed?
    Thanks

    I overwrite the JTable.valueChanged() function ( which is used to implement the ListSelectionListener)I would think you should use the getSelectionModel() method and then add a ListSelectionListener to the selection model.

  • How to make the jtable celles intouchable !!

    HI!
    i am using jtable in my application and i am aiming at some specefities:
    - i don't wana to allow the uset to drag and drop any cells or to change the order of one cell by another .
    - i don't want him to edit a text in any cell of the jtable
    actually, to resume everything, i want the jtable to be static one, and not changeable .
    any help will be really appreciated.
    thanks

    try importing javax.swing.JTable.*;
    there must be another class in javax.swing.*; that also has a getTableHeader() or setReorderingAllowed() method and the compiler is not sure which method to use. When in doubt, always import the specific class you want to use. Example:
    TestTable tt = new javax.swing.JTable(); // no confusion with this
    // declaration.
    At least, I think that should solve your problem. When you import a general library (like swing), there's always the possibility of using methods or fields that can belong to more than one class. Let me know if that works.

    When I double click the cell in the Jtable, the pervious enter data is lost.No it isn't unless you've customized the code and made an error.

    In the old firefox i was able to put small icons in the toolbar area. Now I am not sure how to put those back on because it deleted all of them when i updated to the 4.0 firefox. How can i put them 0n agian??

    Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
    This can also be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I recently updated by iphone 4s but can't figure out how to put icons on the desktop as short cuts to my games.

    I recently updated my iphone 4s but can't figure out how to put my game icons on the front page to use as shortcuts to my games. Anyone know?

    Dear Friend ,
    Can you please be more clear by mentioning what do you mean by shortcuts to the games ?
    Still Here is what it takes you to get what you want .
    Firstly , your iPhone by default comes with preset of 16-18 Apps in your Homescreen (including Dock)
    Make sure your apps are installed either directly from the app store in your phone or through iTunes in your Mac or PC
    once they are installed you can notice them by swiping the homescreens.
    Long press the app icon , you can notice they all would be in "jiggle" mode
    Drag them and place them in your home screen

  • How to catch the mouse event from the JTable cell of  the DefaultCellEditor

    Hi, my problem is:
    I have a JTable with the cells of DefaultCellEditor(JComboBox) and added the mouse listener to JTable. I can catch the mouse event from any editor cell when this cell didn't be focused. However, when I click the editor to select one JComboBox element, all the mouse events were intercepted by the editor.
    So, how can I catch the mouse event in this case? In other word, even if I do the operation over the editor, I also need to catch the cursor position.
    Any idea will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

  • JTable Cell with two icons

    Hello -
    I'm rather new to Java, so please excuse me if this is a simple question. For a project I am working on, I am attempting to deal with placing two icons in a single JTable cell. For the life of me I have no idea if this is even feasible, let alone how I would implement it. Originally I thought about attempting to overload the JLabel class (as this is what the JTable cell is based upon, if I'm not mistaken?) and allowing two icons to be placed per label.
    Am I on the right track? Is this even possible? Any suggestions?
    Thanks much.

  • How to blink the text with in JTable Cell?

    Hi Friends,
    I am relatively new to Java Swings. I have got a requirement to blink the text with in the JTable cell conditionally. Please help with suggestions or sample codes if any.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Satya.

    I believe Swing components support HTML tags.
    So you might be able to wrap your text in <BLINK>I am blinking !</BLINK>
    tags.
    If that doesn't work, you probably have to create your own cell renderer, and force a component repaint every second or so... messy.

  • Update JTable cells via setValueAt

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to implement a setValueAt method using an arrayList.....no success.What listeners should I have set up(For JTable or my table model)? I am new at this and I'm trying to update the JTable cells after a query from some db. Could anyone help?
    When trying to change the a value in the table I get these errors:
    "Exception occurred during event dispatching:

    else

    }//getValueAt

    I would think that everone who starts off with JTable will have a couple of concept problems. I am also going thru this learnig curve. It looks to me ( the blind leading the blind etc) like your basic table has strange data in it. The problem is occuring when the JTable is trying to setup the data from the table model.
    I don't think its anything to do with setValueAt.
    I kept going back to TableMap, TableSorter and JDBCAdaptor examples and copying the code from them to come right.> I debug by putting a System.out .... in all the methods until I get to where the code is giving trouble.

    I have one requirement where I need to make the Jtable cell value empty on click or tab event. So, User does not have to do back space and delete whole string to edit that cell.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi camickr,
    Thanks for that reply. It did not work for me but Here is the thing.
    My requirement was : Client does not want to do back space in order do edit cell value when that cell clicked.
    I tried find the solution that, i can make that cell area as selected when it is clicked. my problem is solved. So, I tried to use Table select all editor.
    But here is what i found ......
    If I want that cell area selected, I need to do one more click(3 clicks at the same time) to select the value of that cell & I can put my new value without doing back space(stupid client requirement)

    newtable.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter()
    .............................................^
    package newtable does not exist
    newtable.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter()
    ...............^
    2 errors
    And here is how I've modified the code :
    public class CCYTable extends JPanel
      JTable newtable;
      ...lots of variables...
      private boolean ALLOW_COLUMN_SELECTION = true;
      private boolean ALLOW_ROW_SELECTION = true;
      private boolean clickForDetail = true; // click on cell to launch frame with detail
      protected String[] colHeaderInfo =
        {"Name of Instrument, move mouse to instrument for general detail of service.",
          ...lots of text for tooltipbox...
      // get values from database, use an "invisible column" for unique key
      // description, conditions etc from Oracle...
       ...lots more String variables...
      public void init()
        //setSize(300,300);
        tableHeader = new JLabel("Bids and Offers", JLabel.CENTER);
        setLayout(new BorderLayout());
        newtable = new JTable(new TableDefinition())
          //Put cell info here, from Oracle CellInfo varchar2
          public String getToolTipText (MouseEvent mevt)
            String info = null;
            java.awt.Point p = mevt.getPoint();
            int rowIndex = rowAtPoint(p);
            int colIndex = columnAtPoint(p);
            int realColIndex = convertColumnIndexToModel(colIndex);
            Object currentValue = getValueAt(rowIndex, colIndex);
            if (realColIndex == 0)
            { if (currentValue.equals(LoC))
              { info = "Click to read general description of our \"" + LoC + "\" service." ;
            return info;
          } // end of JComponent's method getToolTipText
          newtable.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter()  //  HELP: compiler throws error here !!!!!!!!
            public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
              java.awt.Point p = mevt.getPoint();
              int rowIndex = rowAtPoint(p);
              int colIndex = columnAtPoint(p);
              int realColIndex = convertColumnIndexToModel(colIndex);
              Object currentValue = getValueAt(rowIndex, colIndex);
              if ((rowIndex == 0) and (colIndex == 0))
                // do stuff for this particular JTable cell ...
          //Put table header info
          protected JTableHeader createDefaultTableHeader()
            return new JTableHeader(columnModel)
              public String getToolTipText(MouseEvent mevt)
                String tip = null;
                java.awt.Point p = mevt.getPoint();
                int index = columnModel.getColumnIndexAtX(p.x);
                int realIndex = columnModel.getColumn(index).getModelIndex();
                return colHeaderInfo[realIndex];
        ToolTipManager.sharedInstance().setDismissDelay(showInfoTimer);
        newtable.setPreferredScrollableViewportSize(new Dimension(770, 350));
        JScrollPane scrollpane = new JScrollPane(newtable);
        initColumnSizes(newtable);
        enableCellSelection(newtable);
        add("North", tableHeader);
        add("Center", scrollpane);
      }On the other hand, this code works after a fashion but it is not what is needed because it listens to every JTable cell :
    public class CCYTable extends JPanel
      JTable newtable;
      ...unbelievably more variable definitions, etc...
      public void init()
        //setSize(300,300);
        tableHeader = new JLabel("Bids and Offers", JLabel.CENTER);
        setLayout(new BorderLayout());
        newtable = new JTable(new TableDefinition())
          //Put cell info here, from Oracle CellInfo varchar2
          public String getToolTipText (MouseEvent mevt)
            String info = null;
            java.awt.Point p = mevt.getPoint();
            int rowIndex = rowAtPoint(p);
            int colIndex = columnAtPoint(p);
            int realColIndex = convertColumnIndexToModel(colIndex);
            Object currentValue = getValueAt(rowIndex, colIndex);
            if (realColIndex == 0)
            { if (currentValue.equals(LoC))
              { info = "Click to read general description of our \"" + LoC + "\" service." ;
                if (rowIndex == 0)  // HELP:  compiles okay but won't specifically select rowIndex == 0 and colIndex == 0
                {this.addMouseListener(new clickListener(newtable, rowIndex, colIndex));
            return info;
          } // end of JComponent's method getToolTipText
         ... lots more code...
      // ==============================
      class clickListener extends MouseAdapter
        private JTable newtable;
        private int rowIndex;
        private int colIndex;
        public clickListener(JTable newtable, int rowIndex, int colIndex)
          this.newtable = newtable;
          this.rowIndex = rowIndex;
          this.colIndex = colIndex;
        public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent mevt)
          NewFrame = new CCYFrame("blablabla");
      }// end of method clickListenerIdeally I should be able to use a selection criteria like this :
    java.awt.Point p = mevt.getPoint();
    rowIndex = rowAtPoint(p);
    colIndex=colAtPoint(p);
    if ((rowIndex == 0) && (colIndex == 0)) {//do something}but this is going to be a bad Chrissy for me?
