Putting songs in the ipod in order

I want to get a certain number of songs from the same album in my ipod in order. No matter what I do, it always ends up being in the same order. If I try to make a playlist of the songs in order, and highlight all those songs and drag them to my ipod, it still imports then in the same order as before (which is out of order).
What can I do to import my songs onto the ipod in the correct order?

The track/disc number might be mixed up; you can change them to the correct order by right-clicking the song to "get info" and going to the info tab. You have to do this to all the songs if you want them in the correct order.

  • Putting songs on an iPod Shuffle 4 from a different computer?

We purchased an iPod Shuffle Gen 4 for our dad for Christmas. I used my iTunes account and Macbook to put songs onto the iPod, then mailed it to Dad. Now we want to add songs to the shuffle from my sister's iTunes account and Macbook because she lives near Dad, while I'm in another state. How can we do this and keep the original songs on the iPod? We are fine with having to switch over the control of this iPod to my sister's iTunes account and Macbook since she will be doing all the updates. Thank you!

hey, how do you do that? using one library for 2 ipods. When you do that, usually the ipod will earse the music it had before in order to upload the music from itunes. can you email me how you do it at [email protected] ? Thanks.

  • I put iPod on "songs, shuffle" but the shuffle isn't random!  Same artist repeats often, same songs repeat before other songs are played.  With over 2000 songs on the iPod, I shouldn't be getting repeats very often.  Anybody else?

Shuffle is not perfect. What you are experiencing is normal.

How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.

  • "Songs on the iPod "____" cannot be updated because all of the playlists...

"Songs on the iPod "Harold Kim's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist."
Im not sure what this means or how to fix it. any sort of advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:

To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.
Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".

The Ipod, (my name) is synced with another ITunes library on A74F65. Do you want to erase this Ipod and sync with this ITunes Library?
An Ipod can be synced with only one ITunes library at a time.  Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this IPod with the contents of this ITunes library.
Then it asks me if I want to delete and sync.
I am not sure what to do for fear of erasing everything I have put on my Ipod.
I would appreciate if someone could help me out.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use iTunes to play the Music in your iPod but which is not in your itunes library. I don't think Apple design iTunes for use in your way. As to put and play music in iPod, the music has to be in iTunes first, so you play music in the iTunes music Library. the window with Ipod music is just to show you which music are already in the Ipod, in case you want to Manually Manage your huge music library.

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). • I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod Touch!

whenever i go onto iTunes and try to put songs onto my iPod using the click and drag method i get this message - 'the iPod "George's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to'. What can i do? Please, anyone, even a guess will do...
By the way i have the latest version of iTunes and the latest system thing on my Touch.

I have seen this article listed on many requests for help. I have tried these fixes but the iTouch will get about 200 songs into the sync and then will give the same message. I have successfully synced the iTouch to my laptop (Vista system)but that is not the primary computer for the touch. Are there any other ideas/solutions?

  • Putting songs on my ipod nano (second generation)Please answer ASAP

hello! i just got my ipod nano (4gb green)and it says to put songs on your ipod manually, click on your ipod under 'devices', which i did. then it says, if the summary pane isnt showing, click on the summary tab. what is the summary tab? i dont have one! where is it? how do i put the songs on my ipod! ahhhhh! please help me!

ok 2 add manually first you need to set the ipod to do this. On the left hand side you will have a list of stuff and somewere about halfway down you will see your ipod. Click on this and in big panel you will see the option 2 update manually, apply them settings and to add the stuff all you need to do is, click on the top music bit on the left side, select the music in the big window and drag it over to your ipod bit on the left. all going well you will get a spinning thing showing next 2 your ipod bit and it telling you what going on in bar at the top

  • I can't put songs in my ipod

i can't put songs in my ipod
    the song are already mp3

Are you getting any error messages? How is your iPod set to update? If you are trying to drag songs to it make sure it's in manual update mode and not set automatically update.
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Putting Songs On My iPod That Aren't There

I wasn't sure of a title for this problem, but heres whats wrong:
I can plug my iPod into the computer and use iTunes to play songs from it etc...
I have 312 songs on my 60GB Colour iPod Photo, and I want to add more, but when I do add them to my iPod via iTunes (like i did with the other 312) they do not appear on the iPod.
About 3 weeks ago this problem started. I put a song onto my iPod, eject the iPod, go to find the song on the iPod but it just isnt there. Then I plug it back into the computer and the song that I added only a few minutes before is not there. I have updated my iPod and everything, but am still clueless as to what to do to solve my problem.
    Need help quick, thanks.

    James,
I am in the same boat as you. i got the 60gb video ipod and I am having the same problem. i have songs on the ipod, but when i want to add more there is nothing on there. It shows as if it adds ok, but when ejected, nothing. Did you ever find out what the problem was? Id like to know, this is frustrating especially since I just got the thing last Sat. Also, did you get a message saying something like there was a corrupt file or something? I tried transferring songs from 2 different pcs, and nothing.

  • Can't hear some songs on the ipod

after I downlaod a song onto my ipod, I can't hear it. It skips the song and moves to the next one. But when I plug the ipod into itunes, and see the playlist, I can hear it.
problem: I can't hear songs independently with ipod.
I don;t know if it is the format it is in but it is driving me crazy.

How are you putting the songs on your iPod? Are you loading them through iTunes?
If you're just using the iPod as a removable drive and dragging the songs to the iPod, they will be stored on the iPod but not accessible through the interface.

  • I cant get songs onto the ipod nano

ok so ive had this thing since xmas and i had like 235 songs on it.
and it was a 2 gb, and with 235 songs, it was full.
so i thought, well maybe if i just delete some i can put new songs on.
i delete like 50 songs so i can put some on and i didnt know how to get it all back on the nano.
somehow, i accidentally deleted the playlist that had every song in my library from my ipod.
and now i dont have anything on the ipod.
i try and sync it all back on but it says this:
"Songs on the iPod "Matts iPod" cannot be updated because all of the the playlists selected for syncing no long exist"
so i try and make a new playlist, and it STILL wont sync.
oh and i went to "About" on my ipod when it was empty and it said i could have 1.7 GB but it said i only had 1 GB available.
can someone explain this to me?

Use the instructions in this article to add that playlist to the playlists set to be synchronized to the iPod, or change the iPod's synchronization mode.
