Q: Creating a drop list with dynamic content?

Hi,
Like to start off by saying that I am new to this so be gentle...
I want to create a JSP which contains a search form.
To limit the search options I want to present some of
them as drop lists with pre-defined values.
As the drop list values need to be easiliy updated
I want to be able to control the content (using a servlet or a JB).
What would be the best way of implementing this?
Examples would be helpful.

This is pretty easy to do. All you have to do is below:
In the option tags place the jsp variable:
<option><%=variable%></option>

  • Create Portal Page Design with Dynamic content in Moss2007(without using Visual Studio)

    Hi All,
    I am facing a issue while designing a page in MOSS 2007. I can't use custom code as the client doesn't want it to be used.
    The page is with dynamic content coming from sharepoint lists and picture library. I tried using SharePoint Listview after adding zones as per my page design..but was unsuccessful because I am unable to change its design and css styles in its xslt view.
    Plesae help me to find any alternative so that I can easily style my page with the dynamic content. Is there any way using Content editor webparts? Can we get List data in Content editor html as this can be easily styled. I googled and tried it by using javascript
    and jquery but again unsuccessful.
    Please help me with some solution.
    Thanks..!!

    I recommend your repost this in the WebLogic Portal forum.

  • Content Presenter taskflow - with dynamic content ID

    Hi there,
    I am using content presenter taskflow to display HTML content on my WebCenter portal page. I have create one generic page with a content presenter taskflow to display multiple generic pages with dynamically assigning the content ID. Please find below the code snippet for more information.
    <taskFlow id="doclibcontentpresenter1"
    taskFlowId="/oracle/webcenter/doclib/view/jsf/taskflows/presenter/contentPresenter.xml#doclib-content-presenter"
    activation="deferred"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller/binding">
    <parameters>
    <parameter id="taskFlowInstId"
    value="${'a18cff64-091c-4181-a21c-513c52cf112a'}"/>
    <parameter id="datasourceType" value="${'dsTypeSingleNode'}"/>
    <parameter id="datasource"
    value="${'UCMCon#dDocName:'}${portalCommonComponents.contentIdForDetailPage}"/>
    <parameter id="templateCategory" value="${''}"/>
    <parameter id="templateView" value="${''}"/>
    <parameter id="maxResults" value="${''}"/>
    </parameters>
    </taskFlow>
    In the above code snippet I have added ${portalCommonComponents.contentIdForDetailPage} which will return the Content ID dynamically. The reason why I have used this approcach is that as per the requirment there are lot of detail pages.
    Everything is working fine but sometimes it's throwing exception for load cache.
    Please suggest is there something wrong with this approach, if so suggest me some alternative solution using single Content Presenter Taskflow to display in multiple pages by assigning content ID dynamically.
    Thanks

  • A drag and drop game with dynamic text response

    Hi,
    I am a teacher and my school has recently upgraded to Adobe Design Premium.  Our previous version was about 5 versions out of date.
    I teach A Level which requires students to create an Interactice Multimedia product.
    In the previous 6 years, I have taught students how to create simple drag and drop game with dynamic text responses.
    Since the upgrade to Actionscript 3.0 the dynamic text response has ceased working.
    When creating the game from scratch, I need to move to Actionscript 2.0 as 3.0 does not allow me to add actionscript to objects - I know and am sure that this is a better way of doing things, but I would prefer to keep working the way I am used to.
    I use a switch case statement which I have copied below to make the drag and drop work.  The objects I apply the code to work in that they can be dragged, however, my dynamic text box with a variable name of "answer" is no longer displaying the response when an answer is left on a dropzone (rectangle converted to a symbol and given an instance name).
    on(press) {
    startdrag(this);
    on(release) {
    stopdrag();
    switch(this._droptarget) {
      case "/dropzoneB":
       _root.answer="Well done";
       break;
      case "/dropzoneA":
      case "/dropzoneC":
       _root.answer="Hopeless";
       break;
      default:
       _root.answer="";
       break;
    Any help would be much apeciated.
    Thanks
    Adrian

    To drag in as3
    blie_btn is the instance of the object drawin on the stage. In AS3 you have to assign a even listener, in this case MOUSE_DOWN, and MOUSE_UP, as we want the drag to stop if the mouse is not clicked. Then we fire the functions, and tell the object to start drag.
    // Register mouse event functions
    blue_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
    blue_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);
    red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
    red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);
    // Define a mouse down handler (user is dragging)
    function mouseDownHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
         var object = evt.target;
         // we should limit dragging to the area inside the canvas
         object.startDrag();
    function mouseUpHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
         var obj = evt.target;
              obj.stopDrag();
    if you want to make the text do what you want then something like this might work.
    In the function, you could add a text box onto the stage, give it a instance of something like outputText
    and then:
    outputText = ("Bla Bla Bla");
    (^Not sure if this will work exactly^)
    PS. I am currently a A-level student

  • How do I create an unordered list with three items and link to id's

    How do I create an ordered list with three items and linl to id's on my page

    Thanks, I guess what I was really asking, Is there a n option in the insert menu or somewhere where Dreamweaver does it for you.
    I am not clear on what you are wanting DW to do for you?  Is it that you want it to insert a three item unordered list?  No - there's no such function.  You would need to click in Design view where you want the list to go, click on the bulleted list icon on the Property inspector, and then enter the three items separated by carriage returns.  Then you'd have to link each item specifically.
    To enter the named anchors to element ID values, CS5 has no way to do this.  You'd have to enter those links manually.

  • To create 3 diff files with same content but with diff names in same target

    Hi SapAll.
    i have got a a requirement where pi need to create 3 different files with same content but with different names under same target from a single Idoc.
    its an IDOC to 3 File Inteface.
    can any body help me in providing the differnt solutions for this without use of any script executions.
    will be waiitng for response.
    regards.
    Varma

    > i want to use only one communication channel to produce 3 different file names with same content ,so here i should use only one message mapping in 3 operation mappings .
    This is not possible to produce 3 different file names with single CC. You have to use 3 different CCs. unless you have going to use some other trick e.g some script to rename the file etc..
    As I suggested in my previous reply use Multi-Mapping Or create 3 different Interface Mappings (by using the same MM).
    Note: You have to create 3 different Inbound Message Interfaces (you can use the same Inbound Message Type) otherwise while creating the 3 Interface Determination it won't allow because of same Outbound & Inbound Message Interface. It will simply say Interface alreday exists..
    So, just use the Multi-Mapping which is best solution in my opinion, because the benefit of using multi-mapping are:
    1. You have to create only single Message Mapping
    2. Single Interface Mapping
    3. Single Receiver Determination
    4. Single Interface Determination
    5. 3 Receiver CCs (3 you have to use in any case)
    6. Performance wise it is good (read the blog's last 2 para)
    7. And last but not the least easy to maintain the scenario.

  • How create LOV(select List) with all LDAP users

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a selected list with all the users in my LDAP, note my LDAP is synchronized with my OID.
    Any suggestions, I'm searching the the pl/sql statment?
    Thanks

    Hi Hussam,
    Take a look at my comments in the following two threads -
    Re: LDAP
    Re: Cookie And LDAP
    The two different threads discuss the methods I use to do what you want to do (so you really need to 'combine' the two different threads).
    Hope this helps

  • Creating a Video Player with Dynamic Draggable Playlist. Is it doable in Flash? Help Please

    Hello Everyone,
    I am scripting a video player and one of its functionalities
    is to be able to have a playlist that can be arranged by the user
    in any order user like. For Example, if there are lets say 5 videos
    within the playlist:
    SONG 1
    SONG 2
    SONG 3
    SONG 4
    SONG 5
    User can then change the order of the videos by clicking on
    any video and dragging it up or down just like windows mediaplayer
    and the player should play the videos in such order.
    So far, I have been able to use the list component but am not
    sure if it will allow the dragging.
    I would highly appreciate it if you guys can suggest what
    should I do to handle this functionality.
    Thanks.

    Hm, you could define ‘slots’ with rectangles and
    each slot would map to a specific slot in some
    ‘playlist’. Then create your own ‘list
    renderer’ that attaches draggable clips based on the playlist
    array. During drag and drop, you’d detect which
    ‘slot’ the movieclip was dropped into, which would
    define where in the playlist array it should be inserted.
    Then shift the elements around, insert the item in the array,
    and rerender the list.
    (I’m sure there are probably better/neater ways to do
    this as well, this is just quickly off the top of my head).

  • Wiki Mailing list with no content

    It is still unresolved. If I create a wiki with a mailing list, and anyone sends an email to the list with any html content the email doesn't have any content if you want to see it in the wiki. Although all the persons receive the mail correctly in their computer
    Any solution? please

    Hi,
    I am having same issue over multiple wikis and group mail lists as you have described. So far I am only looking up solutions on this community, and I do see you have have made multiple posts.
    One thing I seem to find is it is without rhyme or reason, and that messages from US EN only, goes thru easy, while if sent from my Macmail (JPN), it gets stuck.
    Attachments like a photo has gone thru so it is not attachments, but rather encoding.
    Size does not matter.
    Simple text by default works very well if EN.
    I was wondering if enabling more languages might help.
    I will do more testing to find out.
    Pleased to hear.

  • Create a site collection with dedicated content db with the help of server object model

    Hi,
     I have a requirement to implement a create a new site collection with dedicated content db. i have got 2 PowerShell scripts which does the same. first i will  create a content  db and then create the sitecollection with contentdb
    parameter with the created contentdb name.
    Now the site collection created must contain few doc libs and few splists with look up columns, people picker data type, multiline of text, single line of text,choice field. hence i am thinking the below approach:
     1) create a web template and include sp doclibs, splists , site columns in this.
     2) i am thinking of a ui design to create the below:
     These are called "projects" which is actually the site collection with the doclibs, splists and must be created by sharepoint admin on click of a link in my landing page.end users access these "projects"  aka
    "site collections" and uploads the documents into these projects and collaborate.
    so my question is :  On click of a button can I create a site collection with a dedicated content db based on the web template created with the  hel of  server  object model?
    The other approach is on click of this button call the power shell script which accepts the sitecollection name and contentdb name as parameter. is this possible in  server obj.model ?
    passing a paramter from code behind- visual web part ui to power shell ?
    and it should create the site collec based on the web template and create the content db.
    my doubt #3 : will it not throw error "request timed out" when creating the site collec and contentdb from ui ?

    Try below:
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/21606/programmatically-create-a-site-collection-in-an-existing-mounted-content-databa
    PowerShell is just a wrapper for the object model. You shouldn't need to reference PowerShell in your feature, just create the new site collection with C# inside your feature. There's a blog post here that illustrates some code that may get you started.

  • How can I create a XMP List with multiple selection

    Hello,
    I try to build my own XMP custom panel. Herefore I need a couple of lists with the possibility for multiple selections (e.g. the choice for one language or multiple languages).
    But how is it possible to integrate a list into a panel? There is no XMPList inside the custom folder. I have experimented with the standard mx:list and an array collection for data binding into the list. But how can I write the user selection into an XMP field? Example: In the List the user choose three languages (DE, EN, FR). Is it possible to collect the choice into a string and to write the result into an XMP standard field (e.g. dc:description)?
    A further question is, if it's possible to use the "HTTPService" to bind an external xml-file with the languages and other informations into the panel or is it only possible to work with an array collection inside the code?
    Here is my code:

    Hi Markus,
    the FileInfo SDK does not offer a ready-made list component allowing for multi-selection.
    So you would need to implement one using the FileInfo SDK API. Your component "XMPList" would inherit from mx:list and would need to implement the XMPRead and XMPWrite events and talk to the XMP using the IXMPAccess interface within those event handlers.
    Please have a look at the Programmer's Guide, section "XMP Flex components" and at the API description available in "docs" for further guidanc.
    Hope this helps
    Kind Regards

  • Create a Java Object with Dynamic Variables

    Hi ,
    I am constructing a web based system which stores personal information on people. I have created a Person class with all the obvoius variables, forename, surname, address etc.. My problem is that some clients wish to make use of some of the variables, some want other variables and as i meet others they wish to add in some new variables eg
    Client 1 wishes to store; Forename, Surname and Address
    Client 2 wishes to store Forename, AltForename, Surname, AltSurname and Address ( AltForename - this is an alternative Forename in this case the Irish translation of their English name)
    Client 3 wishes to store Forename, Surname, Title, Address, Height, Weight, DOB, School, Occcupation.
    Each of the clients above need to submit these in an online form with each form looking different due to the fields they have to enter and also with different validation rules.
    At present i have a Person object handling all fields i can think of and different validation methods depending on the client, but there must be a better way of doing this as each time a new field is added by a new or existing client, i not only have to update the java and jsp but also the DB.
    This is all web based and i wish to use the same code base and data source for all clients. I also wish it to be all web based. So in theory if a client asked to add in a "middle name" field to their form and make it mandatory, i could go to an admin page which lists all the possible input element types and select the "field type" then set validation rules on it.
    All the web based and DB parts can be ignored - the main issue here is creating a Person class which can have any number of variables of varying types ( String, Int, etc)

    At present i have a Person object handling all fields i can think of and different validation methods depending on the client, That's probably how I'd do it if it's not too much trouble. But to be OO you should probably go the inheritence route.

Welcome to software development. It's called "feature creep" or "scope creep". As soon as you get your code working right and deploy it and get ready to go on vacation, the customer always comes back with something else they "need" or "forgot". The app I'm building right now I've rewritten or changed 7 times in 3 months because nobody has a clue what they really need.

  • Update select list with dynamic LOV

    How exactly do you do this?
    Currently I have a text field which the user may enter a product type and a button when click. It would populate the select list with the product names that associate with that product type...
    My lov would retrieve the product type value text field(:P1_t_prod_type) and get products names by type
    select t_prod_name A , t_prod_name B
    from t_prod_items
    where t_prod_type = :P1_t_prod_type
    order by 1Im kind of stump on is setting up my dynamic action to "set value" to the select list. As nothing seems to be appearing.

    product type is a numeric value that can be a wide numeric range. (I don't know why the column is named like that. Sorry for forgetting to mention that)
    Well I don't think i should submit the page? because after the list box is filled with product names. the user can then select one of those names from the list box and continue completing the rest of the form. After all that the page would then be submited. (Well that's how i imagine it to work...)
    Wouldn't i run into problems if i were to submit the page twice... like lost entry in other text fields if the user were to skip that part at the start.

  • Need some help with dynamic content

    Okay so I have made a whole site design from the ground up, yea I know thats the easy part haha. Well now we have came into a problem in the coding aspect of the design. For the site we have dynamic content involved that is coded with PHP/HTML. The website contains a user system that requires them to log into view the content of the page.
    Well the issues I am having is I can not get flash to load this external file into a frame I have designated for it. Im not sure if flash can load external PHP/HTML and I need help to figure this issue out since I am new to Flash.
    Thank you for your time,
    Chris.

    One other thing you might try searching for, though to me it's just vague hearsay...  Someone may have written a class that can be use which enhances Flash's limited html capabilities and allows for thml content to be displayed (possibly being its own version of a browser of sorts)... but like I said, it's only hearsay to me, assuming I'm remembering the right hear.

  • Need help on creating a linked list with array...

    I want to create a linked listed using array method. Any suggestion on how would I start it.
    thanks

    That means I want to implement linked list using an
    array.I believe you mean you want to implement list using an array. Linked list is a very different implementation of a list, which can be combined with arrays for a niche implementation of list, but I don't think this is what you're talking about.
    Do you mind if we ask why you don't want to use ArrayList? It does exactly what you specify, plus it will increase the size of the internal array as necessary to ensure it can store the required elements.
    If you really want to make your own, have a look at the source for ArrayList (in src.jar in your JDK installation folder) - it will answer any questions you have. If you don't understand any of the code, feel free to post the relevant code here and ask for clarification.
