Q: ftp adapter local storage

My dba is asking how much space he should allocate on what file system for intermediate storage used by the BPEL ftp adapter. Does the ftp adapter uses local disk storage to temporarily stage inbound or outbound files for processing? If so, where?
BTW: Our host OS is Solaris.
Thanks,
-Scott K.

Can anyone let me know how to enforce the XSD validation in the adapter. As of now only the structure of the message is being checked.

  • Need Help on FTP Adapter Archival Process

    Hi Guru's,
    I implemented FTP Adapter for Inbound Operation to read the file from inbound directory and after reading the file should be archived in Archival Directory and Delete the file from directory from inbound directory.
    In my case file is successfully picked from inbound directory and records inserted in to database table. File is not Archiving in Archival Folder and File deleted from Inbound Directory. Here I need to Archive the files in Archival Folder.
    Thanks in Advance
    Could you please help me in this regard and Please provide pointers to me

    <property name="UseRemoteArchive" value="true"/>
    Set this property to "true" to notify the Oracle FTP Adapter that the archival directory is on the same FTP server. If set to "false", the Oracle FTP Adapter uses a local file system folder for archival.

  • Need help with a simple process with FTP Adapter and File Adapter

    I am trying out a simple BPEL process that gets a file in opaque mode from a FTP server using a FTP adapter and writes it to the local file system using a File Adapter. However, the file written is always empty (zero bytes). I then tried out the FTPDebatching sample using the same FTP server JNDI name and this work fine surprisingly. I also verified by looking at the FTP server logs that my process actually does hit the FTP server and seems to list the files based on the filtering condition - but it does not issue any GET or RETR commands to actually get the files. I am suspecting that the problem could be in the Receive, Assign or Invoke activities, but I am not able identify what it is.
    I can provide additional info such as the contents of my bpel and wsdl files if needed.
    Would appreciate if someone can help me with this at the earliest.
    Thanks
    Jay

  • FTP Adapter setting filename at runtime not working

    Hi,
    I am facing an issue SOA 11.1.1.5 with FTP Adapter setting the filename at runtime. I have a process that reads a file from local server and puts it over to a remote FTP Server.
    I want to use the same filename that is picked up locally and placed on the ftp location. Below is the snippet of FTP Invoke and the filename is read from a variable which is set before the invoke
    <invoke name="Invoke_PutFile"
    inputVariable="Invoke_PutFile_PutFile_InputVariable"
    partnerLink="PutFile" portType="ns2:PutFile_ptt"
    operation="PutFile" bpelx:invokeAsDetail="no">
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.TargetFileName" variable="targetFileName"/>
    </invoke>
    Here is the FTP jca file snippet
    <endpoint-interaction portType="PutFile_ptt" operation="PutFile">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.outbound.FTPInteractionSpec">
    <property name="LogicalDirectory" value="FtpDir"/>
    <property name="FileType" value="ascii"/>
    <property name="Append" value="false"/>
    <property name="TargetFileName" value="setAtRunTime"/>
    <property name="NumberMessages" value="1"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    But when I test I am getting an error, it's complaining Cannot set JCA WSDL Property. Error while setting JCA WSDL Property. Property setTargetFileName is not defined for oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.outbound.FTPInteractionSpec Please verify the spelling of the property. ".

      If I use *<property name="FileNamingConvention" value="%yyMMddHHmmssSS%_%SEQ%.txt"/>* inside the jca file it works but I want to use the filename at runtime and be the same name as it's picked up.
    Any idea what I am doing wrong.

  • Strange Problem in File Archiving - Sender FTP Adapter

    Hi,
    The scenario is file to IDOc. XI has to read the input file from client FTP server and archive it to XI local file server.
    File is archived properly without FCC (for xml files). But with FCC, the sender FTP adapter is archiving empty files (0 kb files) not the original file with data.
    I've checked SXMB_MONI, even there I can see the file data and the IDoc is getting posted with proper data. But, the archived file is empty. Not sure about the problem.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Joe.

    Hi,
    I've already tried archiving the file to the FTP server itself, it's working fine (even with FCC). But, when I try to archive it to the XI server (read from FTP and archive at XI server), it's writing empty file to the XI archive directory. I'm using PI 7.0 SP 14. My sender FTP adapter dtls follow
    Data Connection: Passive
    Timeout Secs: 500
    Connect Mode: Permanently
    Transfer Mode: text and binary tried both
    File type: text and binary tried both..
    Looking out for a solution.
    Thanks,
    Joe.

  • OSB error while generating business service for FTP adapter Sync Get File

    Hi All
    I am trying to generate a business service from SOA Suite JCA FTP adapter Sync Get File, but i am getting this exception for no reasons (Rest operations list file, get file and put file are working)
    Invalid JCA transport endpoint configuration, exception: java.lang.NullPointerException     Unknown ALSB Conflict.
    Is this a bug in eclipse, can any body help me. Thanks
    Sorry Forgot to mention eclipse version...
    Eclipse Platform
    Version: 3.6.2
    Build id: M20110210-1200

    Ok,
    bcoz of this issue, i had to code the entire interface in OSB console. It runs fine in OSB console (i was able to test it successfully).
    Is this a bug in eclipse or only i am facing this issue? Has anybody tried to create a business service from JCA FTP Get Synchronous jca file?
    <adapter-config name="FTPReadMOMFileOnRMSDB" adapter="FTP Adapter"
         wsdlLocation="../wsdl/FTPReadMOMFileOnRMSDB.wsdl"
         xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
         <connection-factory location="eis/ftp/RMSDBFtpAdapter" />
         <endpoint-interaction portType="SynchRead_ptt"

                   className="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.outbound.FTPReadInteractionSpec">

                   <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="/MOMFiles/output" />

                   <property name="FileType" value="binary" />
              </interaction-spec>
         </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>
    One more doubt? The PhysicalArchiveDirectory path can be on the FTP server something like: /MOMFiles/archive. Or do i have to use the Put operation to move it to /MOMFiles/archive directory. Currently OSB console and eclipse do not accept FTP path for this parameter and want me to specify a local directory on server. Thanks

  • FTP Adapter in SOA10.1.3.4.0 MLR4 doesn't work and no errors either

    Hi All:
    First my env summary:
    I have install SOA10.1.3.4.0 (with MLR4) on my laptop (Windows XP). Also I have install Filezilla Server on same laptop.
    In Fillezilla, I have configured a ftp location to "F:\MyFTPServer" directory. F drive is a local drive on my laptop. Also I have created a user called "soa" with password "soa" to be able to access this FTP server.
    Under F:\MyFTPServer directory, I have 3 sub folders:
    In -- to get file
    Out -- to drop the file
    Archive -- to archive the file after get and drop
    I have successfully accessed this ftp server from other computer using either MS-DOS FTP command or FTP software (e.g. WinSCP) as user "soa". I am able to drop file to "In" dirrectory and get file from "Out" directory.
    Above confirms my FTP server is ready to be used.
    Next, in SOA 10.1.3.4.0 AS console, I have create a new Connection Factory called "*eis/Ftp/myFtpServer*" (there is a seeded one called eis/Ftp/FtpAdapter and I didn't touch/configure it).
    the following is the settings for eis/Ftp/myFtpServer
    host: my laptop computer name
    port: 21
    ftpAbsolutePathBegin: /
    ftpPathSeparator: /
    listParserKey: WIN
    username: soa
    password: soa
    serverType: win
    for the rest settings, I leave as default.
    Then, I create a simple BPEL process with following components:
    One FTP Adapter called "MyFTP" with following parameters:
    <jca:operation
    FileType="ascii"
    PhysicalDirectory="In"
    ActivationSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.inbound.FTPActivationSpec"
    PhysicalArchiveDirectory="Archive"

    I create one Receive activity to get file from "MyFTP" FTP Adapter.
    Using above setting, my intention is to poll any file (*.csv) from F:\MyFTPServer\In directory and receive it into my receive activity.
    I deployed my project to SOA application server and stop/restart my SOA application once.
    Now, the real stuff begins:
    I dropped 2 simple, very small (size < 1KB) files called sample.csv and sample2.csv to F:\MyFTPServer\In diretory.
    In my domain.log file, I can see my BPEL process is starting polling every 1 minute without any error:
    <2010-09-16 15:29:25,015> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Managed Connection Created
    <2010-09-16 15:29:25,015> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Connection Created

    <2010-09-16 15:30:25,016> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Connection Created
    Meanwhile, I am observing Filezilla server log and it clearly said every one minute (the timestamp match to bpel domain.log 100%), user "soa" login to this FTP server and list both files (sample.csv and sample2.csv) in "In" directory. Then it quits.
    However, I don't see any BPEL instance is created (In my BPEL project, I have cheched "Create Instance" when create my receive activity). And both files are still there in "In" folder. Per my configuration of "MyFTP" FTP adapter, the file should be deleted after it is polled successfully (*DeleteFile*="true")

    I am bit of confused. In my case, there is no any error anywhere; however, FTP Adapter in my bpel project doesn't poll file either. It does login to FTP server every one minute; did a list command; then quit.
    You may suggest I change the following 2 settings in my bpel project:
    FileModificationTime="FileSystem"
    ModificationTimeFormat="4,18,yyyyMMddHHmmSS"
    however, I think they are set correctly, because it match to MDTM command result in my Filezilla server log (see above and below). The modificaiton time format starts at position 4 and ends with position 18 with correct mask

  • Request/Reply in FTP Adapter

    Hi,
    I have to implement the Req/Reply paradigm with an FTP Adapter and DB Adapter. A file is created which is read by FTP adapter and a synchronous reply is required in the same file e.g the file will contain XML for customer number; in response in requires Customer Name is the same file.
    I am using Procedure in iStudio but how can I direct the reply to the same file with the same name with which it is originally created in the upload directory.
    In a nut shell, what is the best way to model req/reply in File and DB Adapter.
    Thanks
    M jahangir

    Hi All
    The request-reply pattern is working with queues and topics, but not with topic and queue. The issue is with this:
    <adapter-config name="RemoteOSBJMSService" adapter="JMS Adapter"
    wsdlLocation="RemoteOSBJMSService.wsdl"
    xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
    <connection-factory location="eis/JMS/RequestReplyTopic"
    UIJmsProvider="WLSJMS" UiOperationMode="Asynchronous"
    UIConnectionName="chdsez147855d"/>
    <endpoint-activation portType="Reply_ptt" operation="Reply"
    UITransmissionPrimitive="Request-response">
    <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.jms.inbound.JmsConsumeActivationSpec">
    <property name="PayloadType" value="TextMessage"/>
    <property name="UseMessageListener" value="false"/>
    <property name="DestinationName" value="jms.soa.local.response.q"/>
    </activation-spec>
    </endpoint-activation>
    <endpoint-interaction portType="Request_ptt" operation="Request"
    UITransmissionPrimitive="Request-response">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.jms.outbound.JmsProduceInteractionSpec">
    <property name="TimeToLive" value="0"/>
    <property name="PayloadType" value="TextMessage"/>
    <property name="DeliveryMode" value="Persistent"/>
    <property name="DestinationName" value="jms.soa.local.request.topic"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>
    The connection factory "eis/JMS/RequestReplyTopic" can either hold isTopic as false or true. If i set it to false, it doesnt even let me enqueue and if i set it to true. The reply doesnt arrive.
    Please help!

  • Problem in FTP adapter ( Duplicate)

    Hi all,
    We have a composite that query the events from Oracle on demand CRM. Event contains key column which is used to fetch all related values.
    Using FTP adapter, we are placing the file in SAP and also one copy using file adapter in our local server for our reference.
    Problem :
    SAP is receiving two files in their inbound folder at same time stamp for one transaction.
    But in our local server, we are receiving one file only.
    So we isolated the problem to FTP adapter.
    When we analyzed the process and its audit trail, everything looks fine and FTP operation is called one time only.
    We are clueless regarding this problem.
    Also same interface works well in Production instance. We even tried deploying new composite that is freshly downloaded from Production.
    We need this to fix this by Wednesday as UAT begins in Test environment and that needs this interface to work fine.
    We have clustered environment and 2 SOA servers.
    Please someone help us identifying the problem. Its very urgent
    Thanks,
    Sundar

    Hi it may be the problem with the environment. Try adding the property <property name ="singleton">true</property name> in the composite.xml for the FTP adapter or at the server level.

  • Append in FTP Adapter

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to use Append function in FTP adapter to write the contents into same file.
    We are using Append="true" in our FTP WSDl but it was not working.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nagaraju .D

    Hi Anirudh,
    Then is there any functionality where we can append the xml file and consolidate all the xml files into one file in the FTP adapter???
    it worked fine for me on my local system for the file adapter,,,, even i have a requirement to append all files in to one file... if the append="true" in the JCA operation of the adapter dosnt wrk then what is the way of approach to append the files int he FTP adapter?????
    If all the records which are processed are of same schema type then it worked for me in File adapter.Will the behavior be different in a FTP adapter?????
    Any ideas will be really helpfull,
    Regards,

  • Get the File Name received from FTP Adapter

    Hi,
    How to get the File name reived through the FTP Adpater. I have created a variable with the Message type from ftpAdapterinboundheader.wsdl. from there I mapped the filename attribute to a local string variable.
    But I did not receive the file name. The output in the Audit trail is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <Invoke_File_Process_FileProcess_InputVariable>
    - <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="InputParameters">
    - <InputParameters xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/PIERS/SP_FILE_PROCESS_UPDATE/">
    <AS_DIR xmlns="">I</AS_DIR>
    <AS_FILE_NAME xmlns="" />
    </InputParameters>
    </part>
    </Invoke_File_Process_FileProcess_InputVariable>
    Can any one let me know how to get the recevied file name from FTP adapter.
    Thanks

    you have to define variable of type InboundHeader_msg. Then in receive activity click on Adapter tab and for header variable chose your newly created variable (InboundHeader_msg). Once you receive message from FTP you should see in this variable fileName.

  • FTP adapter ESB

    Ok im trying to use an FTP adapter to grab a file from my unix server and bring to my local computer. I setup the correct connection to my unix server in the oc4j file i simply put an ftp adapter out on my workspace and i define that first adapter as the GET sound correct so far? Then while doing the put side of this operation i specified another FTP adapter (i want to bring it back to my local machine for testing) Does this sound correct or would i want a file adapter? In the end im going to want from server to server. <-------- in this case would i want ftp to ftp? Or should i be ok with ftp to ftp at all times.
    Then while making the put adapter why does it ask for the file naming convention to PUT lol i want to put the same file name that i pick up obviously i mean can you change the name before it PUT's?

    You're right.
    the ftp adapter put needs a filename to write/ftp the file.

    you could the headervariables of the ftp get, to get the filesnames of the just picked up files and transform these to the ftp put

    Can we directly connect to the VAN using FTP in PI, or do we need to do perform some other configuration.

    Hi,
      I think you need to use Seeburger's FTP adapter instead of normal FTP adapter.

  • FTP Adapter XSD Validation

    Hi All,
    Oracle InterConnect 10.1.2
    Oracle Adapters (AQ,FTP) using XSD
    FTP Adapter on local filesystem
    In the FTP Adapter, Is there anyway to validate the XML content against the XSD?
    The validation is happening at the common view when i use the "Validate XML" check box while creating the event in iStudio. However this option does not appear while configuring the FTP adapter in iStudio. I would like FTP adapter to reject the XML file if the XSD validation fails and move the file to the exception folder.
    Objective: XSD should perform datatype, datasize and format validations.
    Thanks,
    Sherry

    Can anyone let me know how to enforce the XSD validation in the adapter. As of now only the structure of the message is being checked.
