QAAWS- Null Value Bunching Issue

I have created a very simple QAAWS xml that I am using in a Xcelcius report. I have a problem when I pull the data from the database. When the Xcelcius report pulls data, if there is a missing row, instead of leaving it blank, the rest of the data bunches up. i.e QAAWS table null 1 10 12 null 1 Xcelcius report 1 10 12 1 Is there a resolution to this?

you can use NVL to replace the null values of this field to Zero or any other values you want, you can make this at the universe level at this object select statement

we have an issue in our replicated environment using Streams.
We have a replicated table using the following index:

When we apply a change on that table (either update or delete) we get errors at streams level and the transaction is not propagated.

If I force the set of primary keys to be only the NOT NULL fields, I can successfully apply the error, but since we may have them storing both NULL and NOT NULL values, this is not a solution.
I'm wondering why the DB on one hand converts the empty string in a NULL while inserting, but it looks the Apply process onStandby is not able to do the same when looking for the record before applying the transaction.

Issue with 'null' value in Formulas

Hi all - I have a PDF in which I'm performing various calculations, basic addition and subtraction. I'm using the following Custom Calculation Script:

My issue is that when someone deletes a value in one of the fields (which I guess causes the field to be 'NULL'), the calcualtion doesn't work....so in other words if I have the following:
Field 1: 10
Field 2: 20
Field 3: 30
Field 4: 40
When adding this should result in 100.....however if one were to delete the value in field 2, my calcualtion then produces 103,040....the formula doesn't know how to process the NULL value of course, so it concatenates the numbers.
How do I get around this? Do I need more JavaScript, and if so is there a good example somewhere on how to code it?

If these dates are complementary (as in 'either date1 either date2 has a value) you could transform the dates to text, merge these two fields (one being empty) and convert the result back to a date:
Date(ToText({CnFGf_1.CnFGf_1_Date}) & ToText({CnFGf_2.CnFGf_2_Date}))
If these dates can both have a value (or not), it is helpful to know a null-value for dates is equal to Date(0000,00,00). In this situation, there can be the following situations:
1. Both dates are empty. Your result will obviously be an empty date.
2. {CnFGf_1.CnFGf_1_Date} has a value, {CnFGf_2.CnFGf_2_Date} is empty.
3. {CnFGf_1.CnFGf_1_Date} is empty, {CnFGf_2.CnFGf_2_Date} has a value.
4. Both dates have a value. You will have to choose which date should be used.
For any of these four situations, you can check the date to have a value using:
IF {CnFGf_1.CnFGf_1_Date} = Date(0000,00,00)
and so on..

ODI - Issue with handling null value

I have a flat file as below. When i am trying to load the data file into Essbase through ODI, i am not able to load. If i given the Null value as 0, i'm able to load the file into Essbase. If we pass 0 in place of null value, blocks will be created in Essbase and it might cause the performance issue.
Account,Product,Customer,Version,Year,BU,Data
A1,P1,C1,V1,2010,BU1,7677
A2,P2,C2,V2,2010,BU2,0908

Can any one help if there is any way to handle the null values to load the data into Essbase?
Your help is more important to us as it is one of the critical one we are facing.

I am not using any query.
Data column is empty (no data) for few records in my flat file. After the data load is done to Hyperion Essbase, in the excel retrieve should show me as #Missing. But ODI is defaultly loading it as 0 into Essbase.
Is there any way to load it as #Missing?

Issue with Results from Another Query (Error on Null value)

Hi All,
We have a WebI report using "Result from Another Query" option of BO XI R3.1. The report was running fine till recently the dimension object using result from another query had a null value. Report suddenly throwed error as the query filters are invalid.
Is there a way to make this filter optional if no data/null value is there ? Because we need those null values in report as well.

Hi Vivek,
It was not directly solved but I applied alternate logic to over come the issue.
Here's what I did to overcome:
I used a sub query in place of the whole result from another query.
For Ex:
Dim1 inlist result from another query1
I made it as
Dim1 inlist (Dim0)
where Conditions.
Here Dim0 is the object which we use for Result from another query and Conditions will be the necessary filter conditions to arrive proper Dim0. Make sure proper context is formed for the sub query.
Even though it resolved my problem, It introduces an new issue. It causes increase in query run time when huge set of data is returned from sub query.
Please let me know if i haven't explained clearly.

Select list null value issue - for filtering the tabular form report

hello,
I have a tabular form created on emp table and in the table their are entries for the employees who don't have a location, like it is null for some of the employees.
Now I have created a select list item - for filtering the results based on location.
my select query for select list item is
select distinct location_name d,location_id r from emp order by 1
-- so my select list contains all the distinct location_name including the null on my tabular form.
so based on the selelcted value(in the select list), I am able to filter the results in my tabular form.
but the thing is that when i try to select an null value from my select list - i am not able to filter my report - like its displaying all the records, its not filtering.
can anyone help me out with this.

Null value handling in LOVs

Has null value handling improved any in HTMLDB 1.6?
If my LOV has "Display null"=Yes (default null value is %null%) and I need to pass in a database NULL to a After Submit process, I need to do add a After Submit computation for each of these LOVs with something like
CASE WHEN :P1_ITEM='%null%' THEN NULL ELSE :P1_ITEM END
I have a couple dozen LOVs on a page and it is getting tiring to go and do this on each and every one!
Is there a better way?

we are currently moving over to Apex 4.02 and are doing some smoke tests on our existing apps.
I have come across an issue with your generic solution to the %null% issue above (incidently, for a long time it's the first piece of code I include when I start a new app... thank you!)
We found that a lot of our SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) reports were failing due to the session state of the LOVs still having a session state of %null% even after the RemoveNulls application process had run.
After debugging your generic process we found that the LOV_NULL_VALUE in the APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_ITEMS view has changed from NULL to '%null%'.
so the fix was as below:-

Hmm..Why do you need to change it in production?
What I suggested was to tweak the setting in dev machine so that it interprets the Excel file datatypes correctly when doing development. Once mapping is set correctly then it will work fine when in production or in any other environment. The tweaking is
just to make sure it interprets the datatype correctly at design time and has nothing to do with production deployment

Null value in OA shuttle bean

Hi,
Can a shuttle have a null value.
ie the VO query attached to the shuttle returns null value.
and whenever we attach that particular shuttle to the page,on clicking on any LOV it gives the error

when I put a where clause to restrict the query (in this case it does not return any null value) I am not getting any error.
Any thought as what could be the issue.Issue is resolved...but would like to know the reason.

Actually, on page 1 itself the parameter value is null. After issueing a commit, the parameter has a correct value but without a commit, the parameter has a null value.
We are on 11.5.10 / RUP7.

I am working with SAP Business Connector and some times i get NULL value in (PROXY SERVER) in Secure Proxy (HTTPS) so i need usualy to remove it manully and save the changes.

How to pass NULL value in SSRS

Hi All,
I have a parameter called Division,Region and State.While loading these parameter I am replacing NULL value as "NO Division","NO Region" and "NO State".Note all parameters are multi valued.
Now In my dataset query If I put the condition like (division=@Division or Division is null) and (region=@region or Region is null) and (state=@State
or State is null).
In this scenario if I want to exclude null values need only specific Division which is not allowing me to do that with above condition.If I need all it works fine but not with specifice division,region and sate.
Any thought on this.

Thats because of or conditions
As per your explanation since you replace NULL value as No division etc what you need to do is just this
(division=@Division or @Division = 'All') and (region=@region or @Region = 'All') and (state=@State or @State = 'All').
this will make sure it will bring all values including NULLs when you pass All and will only give you specific division/region etc records when you pass a specific value.
To get NULL valued records alone you need to pass value as No Division,No region etc
Also you should change dataset query for parameter combo to make prompt as No Division etc for NULL values so that it can be selected as an option inside multi valued combo box to see NULL valued records

OBIEE - Null Value in Joins

In OBIEE, How will I handle the null value in join conditions?
I have 2 tables inner joined together in the RPD level. They are User_Profiles table and Parties table.
I am creating a database prompt for a report and in dropdown sql results Iam giving the below query.
SELECT distinct CASE WHEN USER_PROFILES.PAR_ID IS NULL THEN PARTIES.PAR_ID ELSE
USER_PROFILES.PAR_ID END FROM user_profiles,parties WHERE USER_PROFILES.USER_ID='12345' AND parties.par_type = 'ABC' and parties.status = 'N'
Here the PAR_ID is not fetched in the dropdown from PARTIES table . The reason behind this is, when the USER_PROFILES is having PAR_ID as null, it is not able to join with PARTIES table and the dropdown is not populating. It works fine when it fetch from user_profiles table. I believe the issue occurs because of the user_profiles table having null values and not able to fetch from parties table.

Need help with NULL values in Crosstables

I need some help with NULL values and crosstables. My issue is the following:
I have a query (BW - MDX-Query) that gives me turnover measures for each month. In Crystal Reports I choose crosstable to display this whereby I put all month in columns and all turnover-measures in rows. Each month that has a value (measures are not empty) is chown in the crosstables rows. So far so good. The problem occures when there are month that actually have no values (measures are empty). In that case these months are not chown in columns. But I need CR to display these columns and show the value 0. How can I do that?

Cross tab shows the data based on your column and these column fields are grouped and based on the group it will show your summaries.
If there is no data for any of your group it will not display that group. In this case you will have to create a standard report which should look like cross tab and to get zero values you need to write formulas .
Example if you want to display Moth wise sales :
if Month() = 01 Then
sum() else 0
Now this formula will check if your month is Jan, then it will sum up the values else it will display zero value.
This is possible only through standard report not with Cross Tab.

I have a problem. I have an external webservice to which I have to post my request. My task is to create an Webservice and Service Assembly to which others would post request and get response. I have to create SA to deploy onto the bus.
The problem is that there are optional elements in the request and response xsd's. In the Response sometimes certain feilds may come or they may not. for Example:- my response could contain a tag like this <firstName></firstName>
I have to copy these feilds in my bpel process from one variable to another.(like in the mapper).
My Question is , Is there any way in BPEL process or BPEL mapper where I could Check for null values in the request or response???

Ok I will be more clear.
Here is a snippet of one of the xsd's that I am using.

This means that the return URL field can be there or it may not be there. But if it is there it cant be null because nillable=false. But the whole <returnURL> </returnURL> can be there or it may not be there because minOccurs=0.
My requirement is , if returnURL is there in the response with a value, then in my BPEL mapper I should map it else I should not map it.
Thats the issue.

Check for null values in conditional formatting when no rows returned.

I have a report that is showing facts for different months.
For some months there is no row in the facts table.
But in the report, I have to show a * when there is no data.
If there is a row in the facts table with null value for data, the conditional formatting successfully shows a * when data is null.
But when no row is present in the facts for a particular month , conditional formatting is unable to detect any null, as none exist.
How we can check that no rews returned for a particular month and then show *?
