Qosmio F30 with tuner: Can it run MythTV (Linux)?

I am considering buying an F30 as my Personal Video Recorder. I would like to run MythTV on it. If you have a Qosmio with a tuner you could help me decide by downloading MythTV and try it out. You do not have to install anything: Just download the iso-file, burn it to a CD (you can use http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ if your software cannot burn ISO-files) and boot from it.

I dont have a qosmio, have a Satellite A100, but I can tell you that mythTV distro runs very good on my machine, so, all hardware except the modem was recognized correctly. I am using an external tuner and didnt expect any problems with it, runs like hell. :)

I want to ask somebody thier, my laptop qosmio F30 -112 recently every time i start my computer i heard that the cooling fan is running very fast (i mean) it wasn't stop unlike before its running smooth only i heard it when i playing games but not continuous, then after that my computer now running slow.
Somebody can help me what im going to do?

F30 is a little bit older notebook series I think about 3 years old or older... did you clean the cooling modules in the meantime?
I think there is a lot of dust and debris inside the notebook and I think this prevents the air from circulation and therefore the fans run faster.
Try compressed air spray this should help to remove dust and debris.

A problem with Tomcat (Can't run tomcat as a service.).

I do the following steps, as described in many documents I've found.
1. Downloaded the jk_nt_service.exe and put it into jdk1.3.1jre\bin\classic
2. configured wrapper.properties:
wrapper.tomcat_home=C:\tomcat324 wrapper.java_home=C:\work\jdk1.3.1
3. Run:
C:\>jk_nt_service.exe -i tomcat C:\tomcat324conf\wrapper.properties
C:\>jk_nt_service.exe -s tomcat
C:\>net start tomcat
In this step I get the following error:
A system error has occurred.
System error 1067 has occurred.
The process terminated unexpectedly.
I've got the same error on other computers and using Alexandria's program.. As I understood it's not only my problem, others have it too.

First U should check if IIS and Tomcat are running together then Tomcat won't start coz both use the 80 port. u have shut down IIS and use Tomcat and enable Tomcat to start with the services, If shutting down IIS is not a problem.
If u need both IIS and Tomcat to run together then u have change the server http port u can do it in the following manner
drive:\Apache Tomcat 4.0\conf directory.
Edit the sever.xml file
In the server.xml file u will have to change the port in the following piece

<Connector className="org.apache.catalina.connector.http.HttpConnector"
port="8080" minProcessors="5" maxProcessors="75"
enableLookups="true" redirectPort="8443"
acceptCount="10" debug="0" connectionTimeout="60000"/>

Change the port 8080 to 808x where x is any number between 0 to 9
Restart the machine and this should work

How can i run a linux command in java app?

i created a cell script to run the compile process of my C++ simulator and want to control it thru java application, i tried the following but it doesn't work.
the command in linux should be. under the path /home/workspace/SIM/ run: . / zs_compile
and i use runtime to do this

Connecting cannon printer HP Slatebook 12 with Audio Beats that runs on Linux?

I just purchase the new HP Slatebook 12 laptop with Audio Beats a few days ago and I would like to connect my Canon Pixma Printer/Scanner which is brand new to my laptop, but my problem is that my laptop has Linux not Windows which means the Canon printer setup software can't be uploaded in its drives because my HP Slatebook comes with Cloud for storage of my files. I also have a headset with mic that has a usb flash rather than the usual basic headphone jack. I really need assistance in connecting both for my online classes at Concordia University Texas which start the 1st of next week.
Can someone please give me some assistance with this?

Qosmio F30: Can't connecting to internet with Wlan securely

I have recently purchaced a Toshiba Qosmio F30 laptop, and have spent the best part of two days trying to connect to the internet wirelessly. After constantly calling Wanadoo (my provider) and blaming them for it all, I am told that the laptop itself is at fault.
What happens is when i try to enter my network key (WEP) it defaults to a different key which i am unable to see as it is all in dots! This keeps happening and im am completely unable to enter my own network key. Until that is i disable the security on my livebox thingy, and connect to it unsecurely and as i live in close proximity flats, other people can and probably will connect to my internet, and i'm also told that this makes me more at risk from viruses and the like.
I apologize for my lack of technical jargon, and that i cant give a more descriptive..er...description, but i am just a beginner and not the most computer literate.
Any help would be most appreciated!.......Why is nothing ever simple!

Have you tried WAP (shared key) instead of WEP.
In this way, you will have to make up your own key instead of having it generated by the router.
It is also safer.
In order to do that, you must enter your router's settings (usually http://192.168.1.1, or http://192.168.0.1), enter the administrator password provided by Wanadoo, then click on security. Change the setting from WEP to WAP (or shared key), and enter a 10digit password that you will then have to reenter when you computer will try to connect to the router again.
It is best to use a wired connection to change the settings, then disconnect the wire, and connect wirelessly.
If you notice that you are connected wirelessly to the router, and that your connection to the internet is dead, disable temporarily the LAN (reenable it when you are satisfied your connection is working). This would happen if your computer understand your wireless connection as a network connection to other computers and the wired connection as you connection to the internet (even if there is no wire connected).
It is also important to change the administrator name and password to access your router (this would prevent your neighbours' kids playing at changing your settings).

Qosmio F30 starts with blue stripes during the start screen of Vista

My Qosmio F30-114 runs since years without Problems with Vista Ultimate.
Since some Days there is a huge Problem.
The Qosmio starts with blue stripes during the start screen of vista.
So I deleted the driver of the graphic card and used the standard vga card driver. the hardware assistent found a driver on the system.
For a short moment i was very lucky.
After a restart, there was a blue screen. after the next restard, again the standard vga card driver.
What can i do?
The download section of toshiba has no drivers for graphic card.
And really ... i wonder - how does it works all the years without problems...
Has anyone a solution?

First of all do you have this issue on an external monitor too or only on the internal monitor? Maybe its not a problem of the graphic card so check this with an external monitor.
I have checked the Toshiba website and there I can find some drivers for the Qosmio F30:

I found software (radio tuner) but the problem is I couldn't run it. I don't have hardware (Floppy disk drive) to run on it.
And maybe it is not compatible for my Qosmio F30. Is there any another software that compatible for laptop?

When you watch the progress bar trying to sync, can you see at what step the sync is stopped?
If it does not get beyond step one (backup) delete the latest backup in the list in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and try again after that. To be on the safe side, copy the backup folder to a safe place before you start. It is located here:

Qosmio w NVIDIA 460M can run Dragon Age 2 at Max Settings!

As a Qosmio laptop owner with an NVIDIA GTX 460M GPU, I can confirm that you can now run Dragon Age 2 with all graphics settings to the MAX!
As at 31st March 2011, I managed to get smooth average FPS of at least 30 with AA set to 8X and AF set to 16x.
All DX11 graphic settings were ticked and maxed out. VSync, which is useless unless you are using an SLI GPU, was turned off.
The game is smooth and stutter free. And more importantly, it is very stable and does not crash.
Yes, to do that, you need the following:-
1. NVIDIA Drivers
Just go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest Beta drivers v270.51
This can be installed onto Qosmio laptops without any hacking whatsoever.
2. MSI Afterburner
You can google and download this.
The 460m GPU can be overclocked safely to 780Mhz Core clock and 1350Mhz Memoory Clock.
Now, proceed to enjoy your Dragon Age 2 game.
The visuals are really stunning with everything cranked up to the max!
I'm glad to have purchased a Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop.
Very few laptops can run Crysis 1, Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 with maximum graphics and cost less than US$2k (or US$1.5 k for those with slightly less features).

I can also confirm that Crysis 2 (and 1) both run very smoothly at the maximum graphics settings on my Qosmio.
DA2 runs with DX11 and is a more GPU demanding game than Crysis 2 (and 1).
So you can definitely run both Crysis games with the maximum settings.
Crysis 2 is worth purchasins as it is set in an urban "jungle" and has a different feel to the whole game. The cinematics are also very good. There are times when I feel like I am watching a Japanese Anime movie.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

Hi, the work around suggested above should put you in working mode in the meantime. However to help investigate the issue it is possible to analyze what is not loading or taking a long time by analyzing the network traffic or http headers of the Nunit web page.

You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.
