QT Movie Slideshow

I am working with QT PRO ver. 7.6.2: Is it possible to break a QT_Movie into individual frames and save them as JPGs, PSDs, or PNGs?
I seem to remember doing this with an older version of QT and an iMac G4.
Many thanks in advance.

  • Why does a .mov slideshow look much darker when played with idvd

    I have created a .mov slideshow from iphoto. I now want to write it to a dvd using iDVD. When setting up the various dropzones the images look great. When I play the .mov in Quicktime, the images look great. When I preview the proposed DVD, all of the images look to contrasty / dark. Why is this and how can I fix it?

    Hi Klaus,
    Me thinks you jest my good man.....
    Again I repeat, in every other application, the images look the way they are meant to be.
    Only in iDVD do they become "corrupted".
    Anyone who has anything to do with digital imaging knows you should calibrate your monitors.
    An industry standard calibrated environment is a must when dealing with a digital imaging environment.
    iDVD is screwing up the images ad making them darker.
    Quicktime isn't.
    iPhoto isn't.
    Photoshop isn't.
    Capture One Pro isn't.
    Adobe Bridge isn't.
    Camera Raw isn't.
    InDesign isn't.
    Acrobat isn't.
    I can list many more applications on both PCs and Macs that correctly display the images.
    iDVD is the only one that screws them up!!!!!
    Are you seriously suggesting that calibrating our monitors is the cause of iDVD displaying images incorrectly and different to all of the above mentioned software?
    Me thinks you jest my good man.....
    Kind regards,
    Mike

  • Embedding a  movie (slideshow) colors are more saturated

    Embedding a movie (slideshow) in Acrobat Pro (9 + 11) the colors are changing. They are getting more saturated, a bit darker and have more contrast. The "preview-image" is the same the colors are changing when the movie starts playing. Does anybody has an idea?

    Hello Fredelbert,
    not yet seems to be a problem of acrobat. If you have a solution let me know.
    Best wishes

  • Instant Movie Slideshow Templates

    Pre8 comes with two Instant Movie templates for slideshows.  One is Pan and Zoom and I believe the other is a wedding theme.  I like usng the Instant Movie feature for slideshows but the selection in Pre8 is paltry.  Does Pre9 come with additionals slideshow templates?  Does anyone know where to go for good quality 3rd party Instant Movie slideshow templates?

    Not really. Plus it varies from month to month, as they take down old templates and put up new.
    In my experience, though, it's not been more than a handful of templates over the course of a year. But that may change also.
    BTW, you do know that there are four different ways to build a slideshow in Premiere Elements, right? I go through them in one of my tutorials on this page on Muvipix.com.
    http://muvipix.com/pe9.php
    Three of these are automatic or semi-automatic.
    But if having a wide variety of fully automatic slideshow makers is a dealbreaker for you, I'd say you're better looking elsewhere. Sorry.

  • PHOTO TO MOVIE slideshow can go into MobilMe Gallery?

    If I make a slideshow with an application other than iPhoto or iMovie, would I be able to put that slideshow into my MobilMe Gallery? I have PHOTO TO MOVIE and would like to upload a slideshow made from it.
    ~L

    In addition to Terence's suggestion you could import that slideshow movie into iMovie and export it out of iMovie to MobileMe in several sizes for those with different internet connection speeds. This demo page has an example: Adding a MMe Gallery from iMovie 09.

  • Photo to Movie Slideshow compression problems

    Hello!
    I am trying to compress a slideshow that has come out of a program called Photo-To-Movie for DVD. But the quality is not good when i have motion in the frame inspite of all different bit-rate, vbr, field order, motion estimation setting variations.
    Actually the motion is not so flickery on TV, but it should be viewable on a computer screen also. I notice that the flicker is worse when the motion is vertical.
    Photo-to-Movie has Full Quality DV (NTSC) setting on, so the picture coming out of there is top-notch. Seen through a Quicktime player the slideshow is also alright.
    Does anyone has any suggestion what to try more?
    I use latest Compressor and DVD studio pro and Photo to movie.
    Thanks in advance!
    Timo

    Try a flicker filter in FCP or a blur deinterlace in Compressor. A blur deinterlace filter followed by a mild edge sharpening may be all you'll need (try a setting of 5 to 10 for the edge sharpening filter).<small><hr width="75%"><small>If this suggestion helps in any way, a confirmation or acknowledgment would be appreciated, since that would also help others who may be having the same difficulty. • Iphoto 9.5.1 no codec (mov) slideshow exporting option

    Hi All,
    When exporting slideshow to .mov, I can't find exporting options. However, I can choose resolution BUT NOT codec/framerate!
    It was implemented on previous versions, but not here on 9.5.X
    As I see, Iphoto always exports h.264 at 30fps.
    Trying to export .mov on PRORES at 25fps.... no options??
    any ideas?
    Many thanks!

    These options were removed at v9.5
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
    FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
    It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • HELP!  Imported .mov slideshow from FotoMagico aspect being stretched

    Trying to compete a 750 image slideshow (SS). FotoMagico (FM) will not work properly over about 250 images, so I was going to do the project in segments, by each song in the SS, export as .mov from FM and import to the timeline in iM, and then play out to camera (in the case to DVD burner, through a DV convertor in the JVC SR-VS30) and assemble edit the project on the DVD song segment by song segment. Project is needed by Sunday, and I didn't observe this stretching a week ago when I began to prepare for this project and tested the concept. I must have missed something or accidently changed an important setting.
    When I drag the .mov file into iM, the images are stretched, as if 3x4 on a wide screen. If I export to camera, the images are stretched out just like they are in the view in iM. I've tried changing sizes on the export from FM as well as the import of iM, and unchecked Auto Pillar/Letterboxing in iM but I can't seem to figure out what the secret is. Anyone know?
    Thanks! Dale

    That did the trick, as best as I understand it. FM export default was Apple Intemediate Codec, and the drop window gave me about 25 options, so I chose DV/DVCPRO NTSC, which created a "dv" .mov file? (last week when I tried this, I did not have to go into these menus....anyway). Also selected 30 fps, best comp, interlaced, 4:3. In iM left Auto Pillar-Letterbox checked.
    iM now dislays and plays out the file correctly now, so I might actually finish this on time. What I was doing certainly wasn't getting it done. Thanks so much for the quick response!

  • Making QT Movie slideshow from iPhoto/iMovie with sharp images

    Can anyone tell me how to make a QT slideshow that has sharp images after the rendering stage, or if there is any software that can make a good slideshow for a photographer to show clients

    It all depends on your "distribution" format and the video codecs used in it.
    iMovie isn't a good tool because it is intended to be used on true "video" and would have to convert your images into video formats.
    To avoid conversion your should use QuickTime Pro to assemble your project and leave it in a QuickTime format (no exports to iDVD).
    Video formats have a predefined frame rate. TV is 29.97 frames per second and your single image file would have hundreds of "duplicates" depending on the frame rate.
    QuickTime Pro can create files that have widely varying frame rates. You could have one frame play for 10 seconds and the next play for 1 second. Mix and match to your hearts content.
    Older version of iPhoto could also make these low frame rate files but newer versions make your image files into "video" so that leaves iPhoto out (for the most part). There are some tricks but I won't go into them here.
    To make a project using QuickTime Pro you would first resize your images to the final distribution dimensions. For playback via computer your could size them to the dimensions of your screen. For "projector" projects size them at 640X480 (4:3 aspect).
    You can import these as an "Image Sequence" using QuickTime Pro if you want all the images be displayed at the same frame rate.
    Let's assume you have 50 images from a multi-megabyte digital camera. You can use iPhoto to export them (to a Desktop folder) to resize them to computer display size (your screen resolution) or to a fixed size (640X480 for TV or projector).
    Use the Finder to rename the files in sequence (1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc.) and open the image sequence via QuickTime Pro.
    You could also add them one at a time to an audio track. This allows you to vary the display time of your images.
    Open the first of your image files using QuickTime Pro.
    Select all (Command-A) and Copy (Command-C).
    Open an audio file with QuickTime Pro and make a selection (via the controller to set in and out points). Once you have a selection use the Edit menu and choose "Add to Selection & Scale".
    This will add your single image file to the duration of that selection.
    Leave the "out" point as your next "in" point and make a new selection in the audio track. Open your next image file and repeat the steps above. If you want to display all black (no video) you could move the selection further forward in the timeline (past the previous image).
    Now your file has your series of images or individual files set in a timeline. You could "Delete" the audio track (to play just the images) to keep just your varying frame rate movie.

  • Posterframe difficulties in a movie slideshow !!!

    I'm creating a presentation with movie slides.
    The original movie-clips start always with a fade-in, means their posterframes are black.
    If I choose another meaningful posterframe in the info-quicktime-window, this posterframe always appears for about half a second in the presentation before the actual movie starts to play!
    What is this? What is wrong? What to do?

    I want to see the posterframe as a thumbnail in the slide navigator!
    I do not want to see the posterframe in my slide presentation!
    I very often use video clips with a fade in, so that I have a black thumbnail, which is quite useless! To change the posterframe and get a meaningful thumbnail, is the gain of using a posterframe, isn't it?
    But in my slide presentation I really don't want to see the posterframe at all!

  • How do I get Javascript or HTML to open a QuickTime movie as a slideshow?

    I have turned a 320x240 pixel photo sequence into a QuickTime movie using the "File > Open Image Sequence ..." option. However, that required I specify an equal amount of time to display each photo.
    Using the following JavaScript, I can, from within a webpage, play that QuickTime movie as a movie in another window by simply clicking on the link to it in the webpage:
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- hide this script from old browsers
    // This script opens a new browser window and writes
    // HTML to play an video with a title and caption
    function show_movie( pFileName, pTitle, pCaption, pEnd) {
    // specify window parameters
    movieWin = window.open( "", "", "width=370,height=400,status,scrollbars,resizable");
    // wrote content to window
    movieWin.document.write('<html><head><title>' + pTitle + '</title></head>');
    movieWin.document.write('<BODY BGCOLOR=#000000 TEXT=#FFFFCC LINK=#33CCFF VLINK=#FF6666>');
    movieWin.document.write('<center>');
    movieWin.document.write('<font size="+1" face="arial,helvetica"><b>' + pCaption + '</b></font><br>');
    movieWin.document.write('<object width="320" height="256">');
    movieWin.document.write('<embed src="' + pFileName + '" width="320" height="256" autostart="true" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"></embed></object><p>');
    movieWin.document.write('<font face="arial,helvetica">');
    movieWin.document.write('' + pEnd + '<br>');
    movieWin.document.write('<p></font></body></html>');
    movieWin.document.write('<form>');
    movieWin.document.write('<input type=button value="Close Window" onClick="javascript:window.close();" name="button">');
    movieWin.document.write('</form>');
    movieWin.document.close();
    // If we are on NetScape, we can bring the window to the front
    if (navigator.appName.substring(0,8) == "Netscape") movieWin.focus();
    // done hiding from old browsers -->
    </SCRIPT>
    But some photos need to be displayed for a longer time than others.
    QuickTime 7.1.2 "View > Present Movie > Slideshow > Play" will play the movie as a slideshow -- the person looking at it has full control over how much time a photo is displayed before going to the next one.
    My JavaScript allows the user to pause the movie and continue it at will, but if I can modify it to play the movie directly as a slideshow like QuickTime 7.1.2, please let me know how.

    How do I get the slideshows (Saved with music in Mac-iPhoto), to show in my iPad´s iPhoto?

    Thanks in advance for any help

    Thanks for the tip Demo!
    Sadly it is so.
    Don't know why Apple didn't include slideshows into the iPhoto for iPads!
    Solved the problem with Phtosync &amp; Sugarsync Apps.
    Another super apps for transfering Movies/Slideshows to your iPod, is VLCstreamer.
    You can even watch movies that are on your Mac or extension drives via WiFi , streamed to the iPad
    without even having to upload them to the pad (Which you can do also !).

  • Need help including Slideshow with my movie

    I have read on these forums that I should "share" my slideshow from Iphoto in order to keep everything intact. Music, burns effect etc.
    I had a movie started in IDVD. I wanted to include the slideshow. It seems like when I share my Slideshow, it wants to open a new project??? How do I get them into one project?
    I thought about creating my slideshow IN IDVD, but it doesn't allow me to use the Ken Burns effect or "random" transitions.
    I hope someone knows what I'm talking about.
    I appreciate any help!
    Bill

    O.K. this is what I did. I created a "New" Slideshow and then tried to drag to this location. Wouldn't take.
    I deleted the "New" slideshow in my menu and then dragged the "movie" slideshow into the main menu (no particular location, just IN it) and it took! Then I just changed its description to say Slideshow.
    Your help is appreciated!

  • Need tips on creating a movie and slideshow to show with a projector

    I'm putting together videos and a photo slideshow for a reunion. I'll be using photos of various sizes and quality. The projector will be rented, so I can't practice with it, but I got the info on it: 3 LCD, 1100 lumens, 1024x768 native resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio, throw distance 5' to 50'. The audience will be about 100 people.
    I have created several movies with slideshows which have been burned to DVD for viewing on a TV, but I've never done any for projection on a screen using my laptop. It is my understanding that reducing photos to a video resolution reduces the quality because no matter what the resolution of the digital photo, the video output is going to be 720x480. Since the quality of the old 126 and 110 film photos are not very good to start with, I was wondering if they would look better if I could show them using Adobe Photoshop Elements' slideshow feature on my laptop and then switch to showing a Premiere file for the movie?
    I've learned from my movie slideshow mistakes when the TV chopped off heads (outside the safe margin). I'm sure there are some pitfalls when using a projector, but I don't know what they are. Could those with projector experience give me some pointers? Thanks so much.

    If this projector is going to run from a laptop, you do not have to go with DVD, which, as you point out, will be 720 x 480. However, much will depend now, on what your Video source material is. You will want to create the New Project to match that. Then, with your stills, you can Scale those to that Project Preset, before Import.
    When done editing, you can Export/Share to an AV format, that the Projector can use. You would basically launch the AV file in say WMP, and feed that from the Video Out to the projector. A format, like WMV should work well. The smoothness of the playback will depend on the I/O of the laptop. With the WMV, you can choose a Frame size that matches the Projector.
    Let's say that you have 720p material, then that would be the Project Preset, and the stills would be scaled to approximately that Frame Size. Doing that Scaling in PSE will be much better than letting PrE do it for you. I would have those images scanned at a high resolution, and then look at some of the Scaling algorithms in PSE. I do not know the possible options for Interpolation in PSE, but in PS, I normally go with Bicubic Smoother, however you might find that Bicubic Sharper is better. Only your eyes can tell. Also, if you need to Scale UP from your scans, you can use Stair-stepping to do this, basically doing several Scale operations (Resample checked) at 10% + 10%, etc., until you have Scaled to the necessary size.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • All of a sudden my iDVD player doesn't want to burn 2-part movies or series. It says there is an error and says I have a blank dvd in the drive. What to do?

    My idvd has stopped burning when it involves a 2-part movie or series. It starts alright but then stops and gives and error, not a code just says there was an error and the little box comes up that says I inserted a blank dvd and asks what I want to do. I need help with this and would really appreciate someone's experience.

    Then I guess that the free space on Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk is less than 5Gb or worse - I never go under 25Gb when doing a DVD.
    To make a DiskImage
    • Start a new iDVD project (as there is an iDVD bug luring in old projects (closed one time))
    • Arrange all material: Movies, SlideShows and extras etc
    • Go up to File Menu - and down to Save as a DiskImage
    (You need a minimum of 25Gb to let this work OK)
    • Then close iDVD
    • Double click on the .img file You just created on DeskTop
    • Start DVD-player tool (If it doesn't jump up in action by it self)
    • See that all plays as You want it to do
    • Close DVD-Player tool
    • Open Disk Util tool (Application folder / Tool folder)
    • Now to the left - select the .img file
    • Go up and click on BURN
    • When asked to do so - Insert a new DVD
    • NOW SELECT TO SET DOWN BURN SPEED TO x4 or x1 (as this gives a significantly better result)
    I Use
    • Verbatim
    • DVD-R
    And get a very good result
    OK mishmumken - I never figured out WHY I'm such a BLAB ! - You concentrated this to 100% Valu - GREAT
