Query a form by date.

Hello. I'm using oracle form builder to make a form where I can query employees tickets (tickets they scan through barcodes). I have a text item where I will enter a specific data and then the query executes using a pre query trigger to display only matching fields.
However I'm not able to do this for the date. When I insert a date in my text item and click the find button, which has the pre-query trigger, it returns no record found but there are records.
I have tried many ways but I come up with unhandle trigger error or displaying all dates in a table below which I don't want because I'm doing a search by date or it says no record found.
Help me to solve this issue. Thanks.

I had the same problem.
Just use SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY in pre-query trigger.

The correct way to handle this is to use bind variables.
And use DBMS_XMLGEN instead of DBMS_XMLQUERY :

When you receive a form data event you have a class containing inside it a ObjectKeys xml info regarding the object added/modified,...
With the objects keys you can then use the DI API method called GetByKeys to obtain the DI Object.
There is some information about it in the SDK Help file, mainly in the "FormDataEvent" class definition:
<i>The event provides the unique ID (BusinessObjectInfo.ObjectKey) of the modified business object. You can use the value of this property as an input parameter in the DI API DataBrowser.GetByKeys method to get a DI object.</i>
Pay attention you don't have this information in the Before=True event of the Add as it is not yet in the database.

Query find form - customized search on a date field

Hi All,
I have a form which has query find behaviour enabled. When the user press on the search(torch light button) The query find form gets opened in a new canvas.
I have a date field on the query find form. The current functionality is that
"The form searches for the exact match on the date" but I want to have the results which satisfy <= "entered date".
How do I achieve it in Query find form.
Do I need to have the where condition appended in the Pre-Query on the results data block.
Please help me with an example. Thank you.

Short of adding your own query extensions, you must pass in a Date
parameter vs some stringified version.

I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. I googled, but cannot find anything on the query with web service. I cannot find a "Named Criteria" in web service data control like normal data control. From Clause query with form variables

forms 9.0.4 rdbms 9.2
Is it possible to create a From Clause query with form variables generated from another block (but in the same form)? I am not having any success.
I searched Metalink. It appears that according to DOC ID # 69884.1, in Forms 6i, this is not possible. Metalink suggest in DOC ID 104771.1 implementating a dynamic From Clause, but when I duplicate the example on my system, I receive an Oracle error. Further investigation from the web form (DISPLAY ERROR) indicates that the system does not see the dynamic value.
Has anyone else run into this error? Has this been fixed in forms 9.0.4 and I am just missing something? Does a dynamic from clause query work? Can anyone point me to an example or post an example or offer any advise.

As far as I know it is not possible to use block items in a from clause query in forms 9.0.4. Here is my solution for a From-Clause-Query via the 'Query-Data-Source-Name-Property':
To use the values of the block items in my from clause query I implemented a database package with getter and setter routines for the block item values I needed for the query.
In the Key-Exeqry-Trigger of the From-Clause-Query-Block I set the global package variables with values of the block-items I am interested in. In the From-Clause-Query I used the values in the where-clause via package functions which return the global package variables.
Hope my solution will work for your problem.

Post-query trigger order for data blocks in master detail relationship

Using Forms [32 Bit] Version 10.1.2.2.0 (Production) Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit Production.
I have the following problem with a form I am working on. It has a master data block with multiple detail data blocks. I am trying to create a post-query trigger on one of these detail blocks that will do a select using the value of a field from another of the detail blocks.
The problem is that the post-query trigger of the data block I am trying to do the select with is firing before the post-query trigger of the block I need the value from is firing. I tested by just putting in a display message and having it return the value of the id I am tryign to use. Right after I do a query on the form, I get the messages saying:
"Error: cannot find price for id:" and there is no id, and then the message from the other datablocks post-query saying, "id is: 123"
Is there a way to change the order that the datablocks are queried? Or should I be using a different trigger to do this?

Do you mean as it is displayed in the object navigator? It's not the first block under the data block section, but it is above the other block that is exceuting before it, so I assumed the order in that did not matter.

Xsql:delete-request key-columns has to be form posted data?

I am trying to link a hyperlink "delete" on a table to a page "jobs-list-delete.xsql?jobnumber={JOBNUMBER}". When I use:

it worked fine. but I want to use "delete" as a hyperlink instead of a button, so I tried the following:

unfortunately, it didn't work with the above hyperlink.
I would like to know if xsql:delete-request key-columns value has to be form posted data instead of a query string in an URL from a hyperlink. Is there any way to work around this?
The code I used in jobs-list-delete.xsql is as follows:

<xsql:delete-request> works with a posted XML request or a POST'ed HTML form.
To delete things with a simple HTTP GET, you can use <xsql:dml> and a DELETE statement.

If you give details of the problems you are still having then we should be able to get SQL*Developer to work.
However, if you don't want to use SQL*Developer then the following options are taken from note 393760.1 available in Metalink if you have access to that -
1. Use a gateway that supports the non-Oracle database or generic connectivity if a third party ODBC driver is available to do a -
'create Oracle_table as select from non_oracle_table@database_link'
for each table. You would then have to manually create all the other objects (views, indexes, stored procedurs etc) and permissions etc that existed in the non-Oracle database.
2. Use the SQL*Plus COPY command to copy data from the non-Oracle database to the
Oracle database using a gateway or generic connectivity. The syntax is as follows:
COPY FROM username/password@oracle_sid -
INSERT destination_oracle_table -
USING query;
The following example selects all rows from the EMP table in the non-Oracle database and
inserts them into the local Oracle EMP table:
COPY FROM SCOTT/TIGER@ora10 -
INSERT EMP -
USING SELECT * FROM SCOTT.EMP@gateway;
where "gateway" is the database link created for the gateway.
3. Load the non-Oracle data into flat files and use SQL*Loader to put the data into Oracle tables. Again manual

Access Parameter Query by form, returns a form for each returned value

I have a form set up with a parameter query. It returns data from multiple tables. My problem is it returns the data for say 7 records, but then it repeats the entire form 7 times, the forms are identical with all the data included. I want it to return
the data on one form. It must be a setting, or statement that is lacking but I can't seem to find it.

Thank You for the response. I first changed the setting in the SubForm Query, same result. Then I changed it in the Report, still no difference. After reading some information in other forums it may be because I am pulling the data from the Tables using
the InvoiceNum field from one table, on both the Report and the SubForm, and I have the Report and Subform linked by this field. The InvoiceNum field is the Foreign key created to pull the desired data, if I don't use it I get all the data in the tables, not
just the data I need.

Execute Query on form opening

I am developing an application....in that application I have two forms...one is Form A and the other one is Form B ...
Scenario Is ...Form A has a detail block with the fields like VOUCHERNO, DATE, AMOUNT. I want user to double click on FORM A'S detail block and it should pick that VOUCHERNO (read in global variable ..ive done this already) ...and on FORM 'B' which is a voucher maintenance form...contains that VOUCHER'S MASTER BLOCK and VOUCHER DETAIL BLOCK...fill that voucher no from global variable and automatically EXECUTE QUERY to bring the details of that voucher in form b's detail block.
My problem is that on NEW FORM INSTANCE of form B ive checked the record status its 'NEW' ..whenever I move the global variable value in voucher no for Form B to execute query it says WANT TO SAVE CHANGES ? YES NO CANCEL...even though I've used clear_form(no_validate)...ive used ENTER_QUERY also...but the problem is remain the same...please help and tell me how to do this. Thanks

The query is re-issued as a flashback query and the client process can continue to fetch from the cursor. This is described in the Net Services Administrators Guide, the section on Transparent Application Failover.

I am able to add Report Form and Data Component portlets to my page, but when I click on the define button it takes me to my error page.

Help with exporting forms based data to Excel 2007

I have a user who is attempting to export forms based data to Microsoft Excel 2007 and when he attempts this he receives a message stating that Windows does not recognise this file type (tsv). I am not too familiar with Office 2007 so I am unable to direct this users as to how to correct this issue.
Is someone able to give me the navigation path to help me to assist this user? thanks

Did you verify the file type from Windows Explorer?
1) Right click on My Computer > Explore
2) Go to Tools > Folder Options
3) Click on File Types tab
4) Check if TSV file is defined there or not. If it is not there, click on New and add the File Extension
