Query builder authorization question

Hellow Experts,
I have a couple of questions related to the example given by SAP on line help
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/41/05453caff4f703e10000000a114084/content.htm
In the case of Analyst 2, authorization object S_RS_COMP is shown twice as follow:
1
Parameter           Authorization
RSINFOAREA      MyInfoArea
RSINFOCUBE      MyInfoCube
RSZCOMPTP       REP
ACTVT                 01
2
Parameter              Authorization
RSINFOAREA       MyInfoArea
RSINFOCUBE        MyInfoCube
RSZCOMPTP             REP
RSZCOMPID             *
ACTVT                     *
Question 1: In order to have this set up, do I add S_RS_COMP twice to my role? or should I have them different roles and combine them in a composit role?
Question 2: some parameter for S_RS_COMP is missing as displayed in the first example i.e. RSZCOMPID. Do I leave it open or give it the value *?
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,
Answer to your questions in bold aand underlined format.
Question 1: In order to have this set up, do I add S_RS_COMP twice to my role? or should I have them different roles and combine them in a composit role?
It depends on the strategy you want to use
The 1st iteration of S_RS_COMP would alow users to create queries with all names - Role1
The 2nd iteration of S_RS_COMP would alow users to diplay all queries - Role2
The 3rd iterationn of S_RS_COMP would allow users to create queries starting with A2_ only.- Role3
If you keep these in three seperate roles, say role 1, role 2 and role 3 then..
You could assgn role 1 and Role 2 to developers or BW administrators..to create and display queries in any namespace
If you assign role2 and role 3 to users, they will have display access to all queries and can create queries starting with A2_ only
If you create composite roles youo would have the ease of assigning the composite role C1 - role 1 & role2 - to developer user group
Compositr role C2 -Role 2 and Role 3 - End user group
Each time maintain these user groups. This will be convenient for consistency.
Question 2: some parameter for S_RS_COMP is missing as displayed in the first example i.e. RSZCOMPID. Do I leave it open or give it the value *?
Make it *. It will allow all queries then and the symbol besides the parameter would turn green
Hope this helps,
Best regards,
Sunmit.

  • Simple Question About Using "Group by" Inside the Oracle XE Query Builder

    Hi,
I am a new user of Oracle 10g XE and I have built and populated some tables. I am trying to create a view (make a query) via using the Query Builder. I have chosen two attributes, say course_section_ID and trainer_ID in the same table. I choose the "COUNT" function for course_section_no and I check the box for "Group By" with trainer_ID. (I would like to count the number course sections each trainer is teaching). Then I "run" the query and the same error message appears:
    fail to parse SQL query:
    ORA-00904: "COURSE_SECTION"."TRAINER_ID": invalid identifier
Both attribute names should be valid (as shown above).
If I only choose course_section_ID and do a COUNT on it, it gives the same error message on course_section_no.
I did try to do the same thing with the demo HR database. There were no problems with counting a field nor with grouping on a field with HR.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks.

I have got it. When all the attribute names are in the uppercase, then I can do aggregate functions and "group by" with the GUI.

  • CM14 BI Publisher - modifying an existing Data Model, the Graphic View in Query Builder does not display

I am trying to edit the default forms/reports that come with CM14, trying to edit the data model, data set, (to get to the old Infomaker style graphic view) , the Query model does not display (error the list of tables is too long..) Oracle tell me the limit is 60,  there are not 60 tables referenced in any CM report.
Does this Query builder view work at all on any report?
(bigger question, we are moving from CM12, should we move to CM13 which works with infomaker?)
    Thanks,
    Paul L

    Kurt, thanks for your replies.
    A couple of notes/clarifications.
    1.     You are correct that BI works better in Firefox--I have observed issues with the BI display when using IE.  I would recommend using Firefox too.
    2.     You are correct about the way to get to the Query Builder to see a graphical view of data tables.  There are basically two issues with this that I mentioned, but will re-iterate:
    a.  If you have an EXISTING query in the data set, then click the "Query Builder" button, this will remove the existing query that's there, it will NOT display the existing query in the query builder.  Query Builder works only to create a NEW query from scratch.
    b.  Query builder is limited to selecting 60 fields max in your query.  If you are creating a large report with many tables, you may find that 60 fields is not enough.  For that you will have to work in the SQL edit screen rather than using the query builder.
I would impress on anyone developing CM14 reports that they become familiar with the database schema and relationships to avoid problems when developing your BI reports.  You should be able to find the tables and joins documentation in the knowledgebase.

  • Can´t find Taxonomy Query Builder iView

Reading this documentation from help http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/77/49523ec744d947e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
They mention "You are in the Taxonomy Query Builder iView"....
Wich authorization do I need?? Where is the iView??...
    Thanks in advance.

Search for ContentManager role in the user admin  and assign that role to your user id or the group you are in.
Once it is added, Content Manager role will come in Top level navigation.
Then navigate to Content Manager -> Classification-> Taxonnomy Query Builder.

  • How to specify an outer join in query builder

I've very quickly built a large query with the query builder, and it works fine, but only produces 9 out of 2200 records - so I need to change it to an outer join.
My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to specify an outer join. I've tried editing the query that query builder formed, but it won't let me.
I know I can capture the query, edit it and run it in sql developer, and that works fine, but I want to use query builder as it is the fastest way I know of to quickly add and remove items - my users are unsure of exactly what to include.
I know it is kind of a trivial question, but i've searched the forum, the manual, the web and no luck
Thanks for any help you can give
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,
When you use the Query Builder to create the sql statement, you should click on the empty square to the right of the fields on each table to create the join. When you've done this, you should see a line drawn between the two tables. Click on this line and a small popup appears allowing you to select inner, left outer or right outer joins.
Once the report has been created, though, you need to edit the statement. For example, if you use the Query Builder to join DEPT to EMP based on the DEPTNO field on both tables, you get:
    select      "DEPT"."DEPTNO" as "DEPTNO",
          "DEPT"."DNAME" as "DNAME",
          "DEPT"."LOC" as "LOC",
          "EMP"."EMPNO" as "EMPNO",
          "EMP"."ENAME" as "ENAME",
          "EMP"."JOB" as "JOB",
          "EMP"."MGR" as "MGR",
          "EMP"."HIREDATE" as "HIREDATE"
    from      "EMP" "EMP",
          "DEPT" "DEPT"
    where   "DEPT"."DEPTNO"="EMP"."DEPTNO"Change this to:
    select      "DEPT"."DEPTNO" as "DEPTNO",
          "DEPT"."DNAME" as "DNAME",
          "DEPT"."LOC" as "LOC",
          "EMP"."EMPNO" as "EMPNO",
          "EMP"."ENAME" as "ENAME",
          "EMP"."JOB" as "JOB",
          "EMP"."MGR" as "MGR",
          "EMP"."HIREDATE" as "HIREDATE"
    from      "EMP" "EMP"
LEFT OUTER JOIN "DEPT" "DEPT" ON "DEPT"."DEPTNO"="EMP"."DEPTNO"Andy

  • Multiple schemas in query builder

    Hi,
I have seen variations of this question returning a couple of times in the forum, but no answer has come forward so far. So let's try again...
In APEX 4.1 (maybe also in earlier versions) there is a drop-down at the top-right of the query-builder tool to select a different schema.
The problem is, that it only shows the "parsing" schema. So the user the workspace is associated with.
I have taken all of the following steps, that i would expect to make the other schemas show up:
    - associate my second scheme, SCHEMA_2, to the workspace SPACE_1
    - grant the "parsing" schema, SCHEMA_1, select access to all objects in SCHEMA_2
And I have tested the following things:
    - in "SQL Commands" run a query that selects objects from SCHEMA_2, using "select * from SCHEMA_2.TEST_TABLE;". This works
    - in query builder, select the "SQL" option and insert the same query and click "run". Results in "Please enter a valid query to see results"
    - create an application with a "SQL report" page, and insert the same query. Results in "Query cannot be parsed, please check the syntax of your query. (ORA-00942: table or view does not exist)"
    My toughts on this issue:
    - A different user is used in query builder and the application builder?
    - the "SQL commands" uses the "parsing" schema, as expected
    So, what's wrong?

Is using more then one schema in the query builder such an uncommon requirement?
Or did this message pass by unnoticed?

  • SQL developer 3.0 - Few Query Builder issues

    Hi All,
I have just started using SQL Developer 3.0 so have not fully browsed thru all of the available options in SQL Developer. I have been trying to work on creating and editing sql statements using Worksheet and Query Builder.
I am working on to test this tool so I can give it to the users for them to try and use it - they used to work on the old Query Builder 6.0.7....since it is already de-supported long back to work against 11g database, I am hoping to tell them to use SQL developer 3.0 instead.
Hence, if an user doesn't know how to write a sql statement, he/she would try to do the same using Query Builder.
So, the following questions are more aligned towards a normal user who would try to create a query in the Query Builder window, instead of directly typing a sql statement in the Worksheet window.
    1) How to establish/create a relationship between tables after you have dragged down the tables into the Query Builder window? - i tried but couldn't get any options!.
    2) Sometimes I see 'Connection closed' error when i try to run a query. How to refresh the connection without opening a new Connection tab?
    - I tried this but evertytime it opens up a new connection tab, while the old tab is still present.
    3) Columns in the Expression field in Query Builder window can ONLY be displayed in the result set, if the 'output' box on the extreme left of the 2nd section in Query Builder window is checked.
Now when i try to check the output box for an expression (with few aggregate functions), the 'Grouping' check box automatically gets checked, which when run throws an ORA-00934 error: group function is not allowed here...but when I de-select the 'Grouping' check box, the 'output' box also gets un-checked!.
    How to solve this out?
Please let me know the resolutions of the above - much appreciated.
    With Regards,
    Pamir

    Hi,
As Raghu noted above, and you also saw in rp0428's following reply,
Re: Problem with displaying sdo_geometry objects
drilling down to the cell edit details is your only recourse for now. Apparently there will be further work done in this area, but it is not clear exactly what or when it will be. For those with access to it, here is a bug reference:

  • Query Builder in 2.0

The Query Builder in 2.0 is really sweet, great job guys!
You do know you are going to get all sorts of "how did you do this ..." questions about the various cool things you did in there, right? :-)
When you get a chance, could you please put up demo apps/pages on the hosted site in a publicly accessibly (lock the pages to prevent changes) workspace so we can see how things were done.
    Specifically:
    1. Shrink/expand the list of tables as I type in the search box on the left hand side
    2. How does the table I click on in the list magically appear on the right hand side canvas?
    3. How does the cool drag-n-drop columns between tables to create a join work? [It would be very cool if this feature can be added to make page layout more WYSIWYG!]
    4. How does the little menu appear when I click on the "join line"?
    Thanks

I have to agree with Vikas, a really great job on the query builder.
As if you guys don't have enough to do though, I have a request for a How-to document.
I'd like to be able to call the query builder from my app, have it only display Views (instead of tables and views, maybe a user supplied list of objects?), and save the resulting SQL query as a variable from which I can drive the other pages in my application.
    Just a small request.... :^)

  • Create a query builder in oracle Apex

    Hi
We have a request to create a query builder in oracle Apex particularly. But it provide the application builder and Utilities when we create the apex workspace. My question is any possibility are to make the application builder and utilizes as invisible
    regards
    apexuser

    hi scott,
we no need to buid a report.we want generate a sql query using GUI drag and drop query builder.
our suggestion is provide synonym for all objects and give to clinet, but in apex query builder only show view and table...
it not show synonym thats the problem..
simply we want oracle query browser.just want build a query.through synonym schema.
we cerate a oracle user and provide synonym for live tables.then we provide the synonym user to client place,so they want build a query simpl.
    they dont have sql knowledge.

  • How to use Query Builder in Oracle10g

Since I'm new to Oracle , thus I'm facing some problem in some portions. When I went through the Query Builder option, actually I was not able to build the query as some of the features present in it were not clear to me like the "Condition" part and if I need to perform some join in it, how would that part work on it.
Please reply and help me out. Thanks.
    Regards,

Query Builder is level 8.0, it's part of desupported developer 6i. Installation media has an online manual, which answers your questions. You should consider an alternative like SQLDeveloper. Query Builder may still work with 10g, but no guarantee.

  • Can Execute Report But Fails in Query Builder

I'm running into an odd issue...
I've inherited a report that was built using Visual Studio. It's going against an Analysis Services cube and the query is in MDX.
For some reason, when I view the query in Query Builder and attempt to execute the query, it throws an error. I then cancel out of Query Builder and cancel any changes. Now if I actually run the report, it runs just fine. Users have verified that the results
    are correct.
I've never seen this before! I've attached the query and the error message:

  • Clarifications about Query Builder and Additional Default Layout in Reports 6i

    1) Is Query Builder re-entrant in Reports 6i? If yes, what is the method. As when I tried to re-eter, it gave me message '..... Syntax Error'.
    2) IN 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout', Reports 6i does not allow group field to be
included in 'the fields to be printed' list. It allows but in next tab it omits that group field.
As a result no repeating frame for the Group is generated in the 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout'.
    What is wrong?
    Pl. guide.
    Tariq

    2) IN 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout', Reports 6i does not allow group
field to be included in 'the fields to be printed' list. It allows
but in next tab it omits that group field.
As a result no repeating frame for the Group is generated in >the 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout'. Not sure I fully understand the question but you seem to be saying that if you select a field in the ADL tool, it doesn't show up in the layout. This can only happen if you select a field in the "Fields" tab from a group you haven't selected in the "Groups" tab.
Ideally Reports shouldn't show these fields since you haven't selected the groups. Unfortunately it does and you need to ensure all the appropriate groups have been selected in the "Groups" tab.
At least it will tell you if you have selected a group but haven't selected any fields for the group or if you haven't selected enough groups for the type of layout you're trying to create.

  • Query Builder doesnt load the tables. Schema not loaded

    Hi all,
One small issue i am facing.. I have made a connection to Oracle db using the user id given by my DBA.
But when I try to open the query builder it doesnt load any tables.. cant see any tables.
    Findings:
If on toad i run a query
select * from table it returns me noting.
But if i run it with SIEBEL
Select * from SIEBEL.table it returns result.
just prefixing it with SIEBEL gives me the result.
Do i need to ask the DBA to give my user id the access to run queries without prefixing SIEBEL... what exactly shld i ask him to do
OR is something we can do at the publisher end itself so that it strt loading required tables avalable for my user id?
    thanks a lot!!
    Dev

From your description I'd conclude that your DBA has provided you database access via a user ID (schema), let's say USER1. If you have registered this database as JDBC / JNDI data source using this particular user, then you will always need to prefix your table names with 'SIEBEL.' as the database objects are stored in the SIEBEL schema, and not in the USER1 schema.
You may question your DBA about the feasibility of setting up a logon trigger on the USER1 account so that it automatically switches the current schema to the SIEBEL one.
    alter session set current_schema = <your_schema_name>;
Something similar was discussed in the following thread:
how to switch schema in a logon trigger when in 3-tier (how to define case)

  • Query Builder not locating emails based on email address, only the display name will work.

I am trying to set up some search folders for Outlook 2010 for emails either to or from a specific domain name.  I am using the Query Builder to set up the logic for the search criteria.
Here's an example of what I am trying to do.
I have three people from a specific company that I want all emails I either send them or they send me to go to.  Their email address are as follows:
    Jane Doe <[email protected]>
    John Doe <[email protected]>
    Mary Smith <[email protected]>
Here is the issue I am having.  When I set up the criteria for the search folder, entering From --> Contains --> [email protected] (or any of the other addresses mentioned above) will return no results.  Entering From ---> Contains
--> companyxyz.com will yield no results.  Only entering From ---> Contains --> Jane Doe will yield any results.
If I use the From field in the standard Messages Tab of the Search Folder Criteria window then just entering companyxyz.com will give me all the messages.  The problem that I have is that I cannot set up any OR conditionals with this standard field
which is why I am using the Query Builder.
My question is why doesn't the actual email address work for a search criteria in Query Builder and how can I set up a criteria for a domain name (@companyxyz.com) so that I can see all communication with a particular company?

    Hi,
This is the expected behavior of Outlook.
The Search Folder Criteria dialog has two From fields. One From field is under Messages tab and another From field is under the Advanced (or Query Builder) tab. The From field under Message tab uses email address while
the From field under Advanced or Query Builder tabs uses the display name. So, when we want to use Query Builder to create a Search folder that filters by email address, the Query Builder ignores the email address and uses the display name instead.

  • SQL Query Builder Error

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a data model based on data on our server. I've created a Data Set in SQL using the Query Builder, but when I go to save, I receive this error message:
    [Hyperion][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'CMPROJ.DBO.ISDT'.
Does this have anything to do with accessing my server? Any suggestions?
    Many Thanks.

Sorry but this has nothing to do with this thread - aimed for questions around Oracle Communications Data Model, the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Telcos available as DB option.
You might want to ask your question to the BIapps folks/Hyperion Thread. If still interested by "building" a data model for comms, you'd better save time and get something pre-built like OCDM...

    Axel.
