Query button in forms/portlet
What is the rules of the automatic Query button in forms displayed as portlet in a page. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

I've found the problem. I have in my form my primary key as a hidden field with a default value generated by a sequence.nextval. What I don't now is that the default value is generated in the form show. So I always have a hidden criteria with a new primary key which never exist and block my query.
I will generate my primary key id sequence with a trigger before insert in the database, not in the form.

You can add a new button from the "Formatting and Validation " section by clicking on the FORM+ at the top of all the table fields.You can not do your own where clause as the query is made which includes all the columns of the form as shown on the form .
for your own queries what you van do is that you can leave the field blank if you do not want that field to be added in the where clause.If you want to add the field to the where clause you can use operators (against each field in there text boxes) to make your own where clause.More operators support are supported in the
latest version.

Submit query button parameter form issue

im facing problem submit query button . im working in as 10g r2. Every thing is working fine but when i click on submit query button of parameter form. it gives error and and page cant find. its reason that it takes localhost name in url and localhost(asserver.dht.com) is not recognized on internet. To resolve this issue i designed my own parameter form in html and in post method i use my domain name( www.ddgi.com) which is registered on internet. please give me solution so that i can use default parameter form. where from it picks machine name so that i can change it accoding to my domain name.
My localhost name is asserver.dht.com
my registered domain on internet is www.ddgi.comTo help you see what is happening, temporarily add DESNAME to your parameter screen. Make sure that DESNAME on the parameter screen has a value before you click the Submit Query button.
If you are running the report with a local report service (running on your workstation), the value of desname should be the name of your default printer.
If you are running the report on a network application server based report service you need to specify the name of a printer that is accessible to the server on which the report service is running. Make sure that it is specified in a way that the server can recognize it, e.g. \\printserver_01\HPLaserJ4210.

"Stale connection error" in error_log when hitting "query" button on form
I created a simple form on a view. It has only 3 buttons:
next, previous, and query. I hit query and get a 404 error.
Apache's error_log file says "Stale connection due to Oracle
error 3114". Anybody seen this?Carol, I treid what you said but still can't get it to work.

Query button in Master/Detail form
Hello All,
I created a Master / detail form...looks good for a blind query and for a specific column value...
The problem is When the user selects query button ,how do I show records that the logged in user has created.
Am already storing username in the table when the user inserts new record.
Appreciate if you could send code ..if that's the choice to fix my issue..

Replace 'A_USER_ID' with name of your user id field . I hope you have selected this field in your form and if not select this field & hide it in the form to make this code to work.

Submit query button on parameter form
Hello.
I have a problem with runing reports with parameter form.
When i start report from form, parameter form is opened. When i check on AS, which report is running i see reportName.rdf.
When i then press submit query button, report appears. But when i check it again on AS, i see reportName1.rdf (from another directory)is running.
Why is that? How can i solve that? Why does submit query button on parameter form run another report (from another directory), then report i start from form?
I can run two report from form (list item), but i have this problem only on one report.

Query button will not execute on form portal (9.0.4)
I have a master-detail form that will not execute the query or reset buttons. The query will work if I use a link to execute the form. It was working ok. If I create a new form the query button still won't execute.
There was a plugin that was causing the problem. Went to Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
Restarted Internet Explorer.

Getting my report portlet, to link to my form portlet
I am attempting to put together a portal page that has the
following components:
A- Form Portlet with a Pull Down that links to a
B- Report Portlet built by a SQL Statement that links to a
C- Form Portlet that acts like a Property Sheet from the Report
A drives B that drives C, all within the same page, using page
refreshes, to show the linkage after clicks.
I have been able to put this together because, I have used the
explanation found in the Advanced Portal Presentation put
together by Kenneth Atkins, that can be found at
http://www.arrowsent.com.
It provides a really good explanation on how to link portal
components(forms, reports, etc) using the pdk.
I have attempted to use what he has put together, and in general,
it is all working, as he has explained in your ppt, except the
very last bit. Where B refreshes C
That is, my pull down form refreshes the report, just fine.
and then when I click on my "item" in the report, to refresh my
detail form, it does that, but what it brings, up is the item, I
clicked on previously. It's like the "C" Component wants to show
the previously selected item, rather than the current one.
I am using Portal 3.0.9, on 8.1.7, and this behaviour is
consistent on both Solaris and Win2000
I have included the PL/SQL code that is inserted in "Before page
processing section" of the "C" form.
My guess is, that I have syntax wrong in either the do_event line
or I am not setting the rowid for the auto_query to work
properly.

How do I reference a field in form portlet?
I created a simple form portlet in Oracle Portal using the wizard.
I want to execute a custom pl/sql query using simple select statement. (e.g. select emp from scott where ...)
I created a new Button item.
In the PL/SQL Button Event Handler I put the select statement.
Now I have 2 questions.
Question 1. Do I have to use the Query or Custom button.
Question 2. In either way I get PLS-00428: an INTO clause is expected in this SELECT statement.
I guess the fundamental question here is how do I reference a field in the form?If I understand you correctly you want to click on the button and then display a value selected from the database, right?
1. You have to use the Custom button - query is exclusive for the form query.
2. You will have to select the value into an interim PL/SQL variable and then set the form field using the portal session attribute.
The following principles apply:
* To set a field you have to use code like
p_session.set_value(
p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_attribute_name => 'A_RFS_ID',
p_value => 30);
p_session.save_session;
where
- p_session is available in most custom PL/SQL blocks - I'm not sure if its in the custom block for a button - this type of code is used mostly in the "cusom pl/sql before form is displayed" (last tab) - if its not available you might have to jump through some more hoops !:). It refers to a portal stored session that is used to store all the internal variables.
- block_name is either DEFAULT for simple forms or MASTER or DETAIL for master/detail forms
- p_attribute_name is the name of the field you want to set BUT (very important) prefixed with A_
- p_value is the actual value - here you will use your pl/sql variable.
so try something like:

Insert and query buttons missing on qbe customize
I created a simple qbe report and enabled update, delete, insert, and query. If I use the 'customize' link on the portal development screen for the qbe, it gives me the insert and query buttons. But as a portlet added to a page, if you click on the customize at the top right of the qbe portlet, it omits the insert and query buttons. Why does this happen? In each case I am logged in as the same person. I even played with the priviledges, to no avail.

In Qbe Report the update , delete , insert buttons are for full page mode and will not appear in portlet mode .
The portlet mode customization can only be used to change the data appearing in the report (this is in consistent with the other kinds of reports )
As a work around a form can be provided to insert and update the data .

How to show a time field in a form portlet
Hi,
I am not familiar with PL/SQL and I was wondering how I could show a time field on a form portlet.
I have a date column in my database that stores the time and date together, but I do not know how to separate them into date and time fields. I also do not know how to concatenate them when a user inserts a new record, or how to query on a date alone.
At present, the user has to type the date and time following this format mask hh:mi am DD/Mon/RR
I also have a problem with one of my hidden id fields. I have set the default to a sequence.nextval (#qtc_app.seq_visitor.nextval) and then hidden it since
it is irrelevant to my users. However, I can no longer use the query function since the sequence is always generating a new value. How would I only generate
a new sequence no. when a user inserts a record??

Each colunm in the form has a format mask associated with it. For the date column make the format mask like this DD-MON-RR HH.MI. This will show the date along with the hours and minutes.

Using greater than - less than in a date query in a form
In version 5, the user could put in ">03/05/08" in a date field, hit the execute query button, and the form would pull up everything >3/5/2008. In version 10g, I get all format errors when I put in the same thing. Is there a work-around, or is this feature no longer supported in 10g?
I assume you have recently performed an upgrade to Forms 10g. Did you only upgrade to Forms 10g or were their other upgrades as well (like the Database)? Has the NLS_DATE_FORMAT changed? Can you run your query in SQL*Plus successfully? Any additional information you can provide will greatly aid us in helping you troubleshoot this issue.

Passing parameters between form portlets on two different pages ...
Here is a brief summary of our problem.
We have one master form and a detail form which are published as portlets and placed in two different pages.
Now i want to pass parameters from master form portlet resides on one page to detail form portlet resides on another page.
Say for example, when i invoke master form (created based on demo DEPT table), enter values on fields then invoke another page
on which the second form portlet (say form based on EMP demo table) resides. Now i want to pass deptno to second form and
get displayed in deptno field of second form.

Customer actually want to pass a parameter from master form to 5 detail form portlets resides on different pages.
This is bit urgent as it is the only problem stopping the customer go live.

It tells you how to populate a form portlet in a page by clicking on a link in a report portlet.
You can use the wwsto_api_session objects to store data submitted by the master and let the detail form pick it up and proceed with the query.
