Query Custom Object3 using Like

Hi,
A customer has many models attached to him .Each model info is maintained in custom object 3 . We have maintained External Unique Id of model(object3) in the format custno-modelno .So each model is identified uniquely by external unique id. I want to delete all the models of that customer using webservice delete mechanism . Inorder to accomplish that we are query the object based on external unique Id to get all models assigned to the customer and delete . In the query expression tried to use LIKE operator ( ex : find all models for customer 1234; query-expression is 'LIKE 1234-' ). But query does not result all the models .
Can anyone help me on this .We are using ondemand 19

Hi,
Thanks . All the models for a particular customer have customer number - in common. So If the query can give all the models of that customer i can omit all the models using delete operation .
Example :
customer # 1234
model1: t20 externalunique id: 1234 - t20
model2: t40 externalunique id: 1234 - t40
similarly all models of the customer have 1234 - in their external unique Id .So I was trying to perform query using ' LIKE 1234-' here '-' is a wildcard .
But the WS did not give back any result .
Only if we query '1234-t20' then the response document is not null.
I would like to know the query expression in such a scenario.
The WS user trying to perform delete operation has the required permission

  • Using LIKE with a variable in a report query

Probably an stupid question, but I can't find the answer on this forum or by trying. How do use LIKE and a variable together in a query?
The following solutions don't work f.e.:
    LIKE :P310_ENTITEITID%
    LIKE ':P310_ENTITEITID%'

    Hi Elmo
    Try '%'||:P310_ENTITEITID||'%'

Issue While executing the Query for Pagination using ROWNUM with like.
    Database is Oracle11G.
Oracle Database Table contains 8-9 lakh records
    1) SQL equal (=)
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE A.REFERENCE = 'KMF22600920'
    Execution Time:- 0.00869245 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
    2) SQL like (one %)
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE A.REFERENCE = 'KMF22600920%'
    Execution Time:- 0.01094301 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
    3) SQL like (two%)
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE A.REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%'
    Execution Time:- 6.43989658 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
In Pagination, we are using Modified version of SQL Query 3) with ROWNUM as mentioned below :-
    4) SELECT * FROM (
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' AND ROWNUM <= 20 ) WHERE RNUM > 0
    Execution Time:- Infinite
ResultSets:- No as execution time is infinite
    a) Instead of like if we use = in the above query it is returning the 2 resultsets (execution time 0.02699282 seconds)
    b) Instead of two % in the above query, if use one example REFERENCE like 'KMF22600920%' it is returning the 2 resultsets (execution time 0.03313019 seconds)
Issue:- When using two % in like in the above query i.e. REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' AND ROWNUM <= 20 ) , it is going to infinite.
Could you please let us know what is the issue with two % used in like and rownum
    5) Modified version of Option1 query (move out the RNUM condition AND RNUM <= 20)
    SELECT * FROM (
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' ) WHERE RNUM > 0 AND RNUM <= 20
    Execution Time:- 7.41368914 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
Is the above query is best optimized query which should be used for the Pagination or still can improve on this ?

This would be easier to diagnose if there was an explain plan posted for the 'good' and 'bad' queries. Generally speaking using '%' on both sides precludes the use of any indexes.

  • Working with Custom SQL Using Descriptor Query Manager Queries

    Hi All,
I am Working on Descriptor Query Manager Queries
Configuring Custom SQL Using Java and Workbench
Using Java I wrote a static method as in the code given below.
    public static void insertEmployee(ClassDescriptor descriptor){
    descriptor.getQueryManager().setInsertSQLString(
    "insert into EMPLOYEE (EMP_ID, EMP_NAME, EMP_JOB, SAL, DEPTNO) values (#EMP_ID, #EMP_NAME, #EMP_JOB, #SAL, #DEPTNO)"
I wrote a insert SQL Query in the custom SQL tab of the Toplink workbench .
Using java and Using Toplink Workbench I had a problem how to call this insert query in the sessionEJBBean .
Can any one suggest me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance
    regards,
    Satish

What is the problem you are experiencing?
Normally you can just execute the query by calling
    'executeQuery(queryName, domainclass) on the session.
    See also
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/
    doc/10131/main/_html/qrybas003.htm#BCFIBGGJ
Just out of curiosity: why do you need a custom SQL
to insert something? Can't you use persist()?
    regards,
LonnekeOr even UnitOfWork ? Why go down the route of using custom inserts to insert objects unless you have some business logic that Toplink's UnitOfWork API cannot provide ?

    Kindly suggest a solution.

    Hi Salman,
Thank you for your valuable information. I haven't Configured Dynamic Actions yet. Is it simple to write the Logic for Dynamic Actions. Is this the only way to solve this Issue?
I tried by adding the standard fields, but they are not populating the values; but just appearing as Input Fields with Input help option.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion in this direction?

  • Custom Report using Metrics of Instance and Server

    Hello
I need to create a custom report using different instance and server metrics like:
    File System Space Available
    Tablesapaces
    Database Spaces usage
    Sort in Memory
    library Cache Hit
    Data Dictionary Hit
    Buffer Cache Hit
I already made the report, but I can´t change the size of the graphic (for a better presentation on my report)....
Do you know how can I change the size of the report?
I think that I´m using a "metric" so for that reason I Can´t change the size ... :(

I am currently having a problem with this report and drilldown to KSB1, the cost centers selected int S_ALR_87013611 are not transferring to KSB1 and thus all the cost centers come up in the call to KSB1, are you experiencing this problem? I am on V4.7

  • How to resize a custom tree node like you would a JFrame window?

    Hello,
I am trying to resize a custom tree node like you would a JFrame window.
As with a JFrame, when your mouse crosses the Border, the cursor should change and you are able to drag the edge to resize the node.
However, I am faced with a problem. Border cannot detect this and I dont want to use a mouse motion listener (with a large number of nodes, I fear it will be inefficient, calculating every node's position constantly).

the node on the tree is only painted on using the
renderer to do the painting work. A mouse listener
has to be added to the tree, and when moved over an
area, you have to determine if you are over the
border and which direction to update the cursor and
to know which way to resize when dragged. One of the
BasicRootPaneUI has some code that can help determine
that. Thanks for replying. What is your opinion on this alternative idea that I just had?
I am wondering if it might be easier to have a toggle button in the node that you click when you want to resize the node. Then a mouse-down and dragging the mouse will resize the node. Mouse-up will reset the toggle button, and so will mouse down in an invalid area.
