Query DB metadata about a procedure

I am trying to query the DatabaseMetadata for
a stored procedure info using the getProcedures call.
It works fine if the procedure is not part ot
an Oracle package, if it is, the procedure can't be found.
I tried qualifying it with the package name, no success. Any ideeas ?
Thanks,
Calin

Jerry,
<b>METHOD 1</b>
I can suggest a method, not very sophisticated though. I assume that only one of these infopackages is run at any given time.
Table REREQDONE stores the details of all the requests along with the infopackage ID.
Lets say that the IDs of your infopackages are like this.
ZBUDGET_AMOUNT - ZPAK_A1
ZBUDGET_UNIT   - ZPAK_U1
You need to hardcode these IDs in your start routine.
In the start routine,
SELECT LOGDPID DATUM UZEIT FROM RSREQDONE
WHERE DATUM = SY-DATUM
and LOGDPID = ZPAK_A1 OR ZPAK_U1.
This will give u all the requests that are loaded today including the one that is running right now.
Reverse SORT them on UZEIT. The first one in the list is the one that should be running now, save this in a global variable.
Now in the transfer routine for 0VALTYPE, assingn the value using a case statement.
<b>SECOND METHOD:</b>
You can modify the files such that the keyfigure is divided into 5 keyfigures.
Like this,
KEYFIG1, KEYFIG2, KEYFIG3, KEYFIG4 and KEYFIG5. Only one of these fields is populated in each file and the remaining KEYFIGs contain null values. (KEYFIG1 is populated in file1, 2 is populated in file2 etc)
In the transfer rules you can say,
BW KeyFigure =KEYFIG1KEYFIG2KEYFIG3KEYFIG4KEYFIG5
and in the routine for value type, you can have a case stament to see which KEYFIG has the non-null value.
Let me know if it works.

  • Applying sort to a query returned by a stored procedure

    I am looking for some advice on the best approach for applying a dynamic sort to a query returned by a stored procedure.
    We have a stored procedure that has 3 inputs fields which are used to specify sort columns and it has an additional 3 fields to indicate if the corresponding input column is to be sorted in ascending or descending order. We presently accomplish this by using dynamic SQL in the procedure but this approach has some drawbacks. Ideally we would like these queries to compile just like any other cursor. We have tried using decodes but this does not seem practical or easy to maintain.
    This procedure is used by a web application that allows the user to click on a column header to specify their sort preference. The previous sort selection becomes the second sort field and the one before that the third.
    Your advice is much appreciated!

    I see, so you want to be able to sort by "name desc, age asc, salary asc", for example.
    there is no built in option. it's either dynamic sql, or decodes.
    the decodes could still work, with only 6 lines, but the problem is handling mixed data types. I'll stick with sort col of 1=name (char), 2=number_col, 3=date_col
    order by
      decode(sort_order1, 'A', decode (sort_col1, 1,name_col, 2,to_char(number_col,'9999999999.00000'), 3,to_char(date_col,'yyyymmddhh24miss'), 'X'),'X'),
      decode(sort_order1, 'D', decode (sort_col1, 1,name_col, 2,to_char(number_col,'9999999999.00000'), 3,to_char(date_col,'yyyymmddhh24miss'), 'X'),'X') DESC,
      decode(sort_order2, 'A', decode (sort_col2, 1,name_col, 2,to_char(number_col,'9999999999.00000'), 3,to_char(date_col,'yyyymmddhh24miss'), 'X'),'X'),
      decode(sort_order2, 'D', decode (sort_col2, 1,name_col, 2,to_char(number_col,'9999999999.00000'), 3,to_char(date_col,'yyyymmddhh24miss'), 'X'),'X') DESC,
      decode(sort_order3, 'A', decode (sort_col3, 1,name_col, 2,to_char(number_col,'9999999999.00000'), 3,to_char(date_col,'yyyymmddhh24miss'), 'X'),'X'),

  • How could I retrieve metadata about Array Type and Table Type?

    I use DatabaseMetaData.getUDTs() method for obtain metadata about Object Types, but this method doesn't work with Array Type and Table Type.

    JJ,
    Go into the diagrams of the DBTools List Columns and DBTools Get Properties respectively. When you inspect this diagram, you will see the raw ActiveX properties and methods called to get the size information. The value of -1 means the requested recordset is already closed. This is the sort of thing that is controled by the driver (ODBC, OLE DB, Jet, etc) you are using. Notice that you can right click on the property and invoke nodes and get more information about these specific items directly from the ADO online help.

    I modelled some new metadata for documents stored in CS (using a new model) . Now I want to use a query from within a LC process to search for all documents stored in CS and have the same metadata (e.q. custom_id=12345).
    So, how to do that? Can I use REST/web scripts for that (á la http://<host>:<port>/contentspace/service/index/all.mediawiki)

    hi Steve
    thank you for your answer. Unluckly i'm not using mysql but oracle 9i (or 10i i don't know since i'm just a poor programmer). Anyway i did a test : i've bypassed the datasource file , hardcoding the connection parameters in my custom component and it has got executed without problem, then process has crushed again on a query done by some adobe component. there are many adobe sql component instances to read/write from the same schema my compnent uses, so i suppose the problem is inside datasource configuration. There's a datasource sample for oracle too?
    I cannot give much details, since the new system has been recently installed and i don't know all info (i think jboss is 4.2 but i'm not sure)
    thanks again

  • Query rewrite complains about ragged hierarchy when it does not exist

    Hi -

    When I enable the query rewrite I get an error (see below) about ragged or skipped level hierarchy in my customer dimension. I am trying to figure out what the issue is so I created a one level customer hierarchy (lowest level) and I still get the error.
    I do not understand how I can have a skipped/ragged hierarchy when my dimension is at the lowest level.
    I am using the lastest versions of AWM and 11G.

    Let us try to look at what a cursor is.
    Suppose, as in the above example, you have a query that returns multiple rows. You wish to process each row and take some action on each of them. How do you achieve this in PL/SQL. You would obviously like to create a loop in your program that goes over the table row by row and do whatever you want to do within this loop.
    You must be aware that you have looping constructs in PL/SQL as in most other programming languages. The question here is, how do we access the contents of the table in this loop. Moreover we are interested in accessing the contents of the table row-by-row. Here is an example code (from Oracle documentation) you would write to achieve this:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT ename, sal, hiredate, deptno FROM emp;
    BEGIN
    FOR emp_rec IN c1 LOOP
    salary_total := salary_total + emp_rec.sal;
    END LOOP;
    As you can see here, we have a for loop to traverse the emp table. To access the rows of this table in the loop, we have declared what is called a "cursor". It can be thought of as "a handle to a select query". You have defined the cursor to act on the query "SELECT ename, sal, hiredate, deptno FROM emp;". So, as we loop through the cursor, we are actually looping through the rows of the table.
    I hope you get the idea of what a cursor is meant for. With this background you I invite you to the Oracle documentation for futher study.

  • SQL server Query to sort the Stored procedure as text

    Hi
    I have a requirement as below :
    Stored procedure in SQL server has some 1000 lines of code where the SP uses select, insert , update ,delete and Joins on direct tables and as well as temp tables , the requirement is to get all text code from sp which is used for either select/insert
    except update and delete.
    for example :
    Create PROCEDURE testproc
    AS
    Begin
    /*Statement 1*/
    select id from emptable
    /*Statement 2*/
    select address into #empAddress from empAddresstbl
    /*Statement 3*/
    update a
    set id = 0 from usertbl a
    /*Statement 4*/
    Update u
    set access=0 from usertbl u
    inner join permissionstbl p
    on u.userid = p.userid
    /*Statement 5*/
    select name into #empname
    from empnametbl
    inner join Nametbl on
    empname.id = name.id
    END
    for the given sample sp the output of query shld be
    from emptable
    from empaddresstbl
    from empnametbl
    join nametbl
    it shld not consider the table name from update/delete and the tables used for joins in updates/delete.
    This has to be achieved using  SQL

    Within PL/SQL code, the results of a query have to be returned from the SQL engine to the PL/SQL engine, hence why it is asking you to include an INTO within your query. Note that the PL/SQL engine is running on the database server so it has no interface to display output to. To output from within PL/SQL you would have to write the data out yourself to whatever output you want e.g. use DBMS_OUTPUT to put the data to the standard output buffer (which can then be read by SQL*Plus if serveroutput is set to "on") or written out to a file on the server, or written out to a table.
    You are assuming that because you can execute SQL from SQL*Plus and spool the output, you can do the same within PL/SQL. This is not the case. When SQL*Plus issues a SQL statement, it goes to the SQL engine and the results of that cursor (as an SQL query is a cursor) are collected by SQL*Plus and it displays them itself. When PL/SQL issues a SQL statement, it goes to the SQL engine and the results of that cursor come back to PL/SQL. PL/SQL doesn't have a display mechanism, so the results have to be collected INTO something.
    Hope that's clear.

  • Query with order by & View/procedure

    1)I have a query its getting joined with few tables and the base table contains 12 billion rows . my issue is when I execute the query with necessary parameter am getting the result in few seconds . but when I add an order by for any column am not getting the result even after 15 minuts.
    The sort column is an indexed column and I have even tried with the primary column of the base table but no change .. is there any way to make it faster with order by ??
    2)I have got a view which also getting joined with few high volume tables . when I call the view with required parameter am not getting the result even after 15 minutes.. but when I took out the query of the view and hardcode the value am getting the result in 3 seconds . so I just made it to a procedure that returns a cursor . now its working fine .. could you please explain me the reason for this ….??

  • Logging query with information about ip client machine address

    Halo,
    One of our most important requirements is logging user query (physical to database and logical) with following informations:
    - USER
    - SQL QUERY TEXT (logical/physical)
    - DATE and TIME executing query
    - IP ADDRESS client machine (or name of client machine) (this is very important information)
    We have following configuration:
    - BI Server with Presentation Servicess on one machine (AIX)
    - Web server on second machine (BEA Weblogic 9)
    I've tested [USAGE_TRACKING] mechanism but thera are three problems with it:
    1. in S_NQ_ACCT in field NODE_ID is always written the same information: name of Web Server - WebLogic
    2. in S_NQ_ACCT are storages only logical queries.
    3. Length of field QUERY_TEXT is 1024. I'm sure that in many cases it'll be to short.
    I've tested USER_LOG too (that logs to NQQuery.log file) but there are also some problems:
    1. there is no information about ip client machine but is information about physical and logical queries and other necessary informations
    2. oracle recommends turn off this mechanism on production system.
    I've tested PRESENTATION SERVICESS log (it is configured at logconfig.xml file)
    1. In file is information about ip client machine
    2. In file are written only logical queries (this is big problem we also need physical queries)
    Do you have some idea how to resolve my problem?
    Regards

    hi, you can use the sys_context function, like this:
    select sys_context('userenv','current_user'),
         sys_context('userenv','os_user'),
         sys_context('userenv','host'),
         sys_context('userenv','ip_address'),
         sys_context('userenv','instance'),
         sys_context('userenv','sessionid'),
         sys_context('userenv','terminal')
    from dual;
    Is this what you 're looking for?

  • About Guided Procedures

    Hi Gurus
       Can anybody please give me brief idea about what is Guided Procedures(GP) and how it works?
    What can be done by using GP in portal, and  few activities that can be done by it..
    I am confusing with the terms CAF whenever GP is coming into picture. How CAF is related to GP? Does GP works without CAF?
    Can anybody answer for my queries....
    Points will be awarded.........
