Query not cached in BIServerCache

Hi,
I am trying to seed to the cache using an agent. I see from the log file nqquery.log that a query is fired at the database when ever the agent is run. Also, the presentation cache is populated. So, if I try to use the analysis again without clearing the presentation cache it opens up fast and I dont see any entry in the nqquery.log. But if I clear the presentation cache from administration by using
"clear all cursors" and try to access the analysis again, I see that a query is again fired at the database instead of using the BI server cache.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
KK

Hi,
Can you check the points in the below URL to ensure that your queries are actually getting cached in BI Server:

  • Page not cached because "URL contains query string"

I have used JDeveloper to produce a search/display page using ADF where the user enters search criteria and then presses a Search command button. The parameters are POSTed to the webserver, and I need to devise a cache rule to cache pages using the entered search criteria so that another seach for the same values can be served from the cache.
I have created a rule that will cache GET, GET with Query String and POST.
I have put .* in the POST body. When I do this, the first query page is retrieved from the origin server and cached and resulting queries with different search criteria are returned the data for that first search (ie. it's not taking into account the search parameters).
If I switch off that rule and look at what's being received, I see the following:
    /158.234.27.10:8889/BM/faces/physical.jsp POST;;;event=&form1:selectOneChoice1=0&form1:selectOneChoice2=&form1:selectedDate=2004-08-10&form1:table1:rangeStart=0&form1:table2:rangeStart=0&form1:table3:rangeStart=0&form1:table4:rangeStart=0&form1:table5:rangeStart=0&form1:table6:rangeStart=0&oracle.adf.faces.FORM=form1&oracle.adf.faces.STATE_TOKEN=3&source=form1:commandButton1;;
Now, there are 3 search parameter fields that need to be considered - the others should be ignored:
    form1:selectOneChoice1
    form1:selectOneChoice
    form1:selectedDate
It's not clear to me where (and how - in what format) I specify parameters to ignore and parameters to consider. I have tried listing these 3 parameters in the URL parameters table for the Rule (I did not specify a value - should I have done?) but when I do this, the page is not cached and shows the reason for this is that "URL Contains Query String".
Can someone explain how to specify important POST body parameters and unimportant POST body parameters?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi,
    Please go through this:

  • Query result caching on oracle 9 and 10 vs indexing

I am trying to improve performance on oracle 9i and 10g.
We use some queries that take up to 30 minutes to execute.
I heard that there are some products to cache query results.
Would this have any advantage over using indexes or materialized views?
Does anyone know any products that I can use to cache the results of this queries on disk?
Personally I think that by using the query result caching I would reduce the cpu time needed to process the query.
    Is this true?

Your message post pushes all the wrong buttons starting with the fact that 9i and 10g are marketing labels not version numbers.
You don't tune queries by spending money and throwing resources at them. You tune them by identifying the problem queries, running explain plans, visualizing their output using DBMS_XPLAN, and addressing the root cause.
If you want help post full version numbers, the SQL statements, and the DBMS_XPLAN outputs.

  • Using the client result cache without the query result cache

I have constructed a client in C# using ODP.NET to connect to an Oracle database and want to perform client result caching for some of my queries.
This is done using a result_cache hint in the query.
    select /*+ result_cache */ * from table
As far as I can tell query result caching on the server is done using the same hint, so I was wondering if there was any way to differentiate between the two? I want the query results to be cached on the client, but not on the server.
The only way I have found to do this is to disable all caching on the server, but I don't want to do this as I want to use the server cache for PL/SQL function results.
    Thanks.

You haven't provided ANY information about how you configured the result cache. Different parameters are used for configuring the client versus the server result cache so you need to post what, if anything, you configured.
Post the code you executed when you set the 'client_result_cache_lag' and 'client_result_cache_size' parameters so we can see what values you used. Also post the results of querying those parameters after you set them that show that they really are set.
You also need to post your app code that shows that you are using the OCI statements are used when you want to use client side result cacheing.
    See the OCI dev guide

    Statement Caching in OCI
Statement caching refers to the feature that provides and manages a cache of statements for each session. In the server, it means that cursors are ready to be used without the need to parse the statement again. Statement caching can be used with connection pooling and with session pooling, and will improve performance and scalability. It can be used without session pooling as well. The OCI calls that implement statement caching are:
      OCIStmtPrepare2()
      OCIStmtRelease()

  • Query not release for OLE DB

    Hi..Experts

As i check Query Q1 for allow external uses, Its giving error " Query not releases for OLE DB"
But when I restrict Q2 by fixed month then there is no error....but this is not fulfill my requirement.
I need Q2 should be restricted by Cal Month variable...
    What I have done is.....first  I restrict Q2 by fixed month. then Q1 query  executing perfectly.Once Q1
is executing again i restrict Q2 by cal mont variable. Then also Q1 is running fine, even though it is checked allow
    external Access.
I also execute  Q1 query in RSRT without using cache . It is working fine. But as I open Q1 on another day is not working, WHY?
I am not getting....Please help me...

  • Querying just cache

    Hi,
I want to querying coherence cache for each 5 seconds with a cql query. The cache connects to cql processor and processor has not taken any events from any channel. There is no channel that connects to cql processors.
In the adapter components I am setting and updating the coherence cache and I want to query and filter the data in the cache with a CQL query.
If I write this code, CEP gives an error, I describe this at below cql query.

Instead, should I use event bean to achieve this?
    Thanks.

Hi, please follow the CEP programming model to write the application. We use adapter to retrieve external data and convert them to CEP event(POJO or Tuple), and processor is driven by streaming data which means the rules are evaluated only when events come to processor.
Therefore you need revise your adapter and configure your EPN as something like: Adapter -> Channel -> Processor -> Channel -> UserBean(or Outbound Adapter).
If you need coherence cache to implement cluster processing, you can use HA adapter alternatively. More discussion needs you state your use case.

  • Querying TopLink Cache

My system demands caching the result sets obtained from a ReadAllQuery. I might make several queries on this static set of cached data. But the data to be cached is small. I use TopLink's use session.getProject().FullIdentityMap() to cache the output of ReadAllQuery that i execute at the start of the system.
But am not able to query the cache from an external API later ( which could be several minutes later). How can i manipulate the TopLink cache APIs to get this done. Kindly Reply.

    Hi Manoj,
If I understand you correctly, you persist some objects and then later query them. You don't get the results you expect when you use checkCacheOnly(). You need to use checkCacheThenDatabase() and when you do this you're seeing SQL I expect.
If your cache type for the class is FullIdentityMap then TopLink will never release objects of that class once read and your checkCacheOnly() query should work.
I'm guessing that you're using a different TopLink session. You mention you have a number of services. What environment are you running in and what is your architecture (e.g., servlet or EJB)? Statics don't solve sharing problems especially in an application server or web application environment in which multiple classloaders are employed.

  • SQL not caching on failed over node

    Hi Friends,
Running SQL 2008 SP4 Cluster , but when I'm on second node the queries are extremely slow and noticed that the SQL is not caching properly the data after the first warmup run. any thoughts and suggestions? have you had this problem before?
    Thanks,
    Patrick
    Patrick Alexander

    Hi Patrick,
According to your description, you face slow running queries. Based on my research, the issue could be due to the lack of useful statistics, or the lack of useful indexes according to this
    article.
To trouble shoot the issue, you could follow the steps below:
    1. Use SQL Server Profiler to find the slow queries. SQL Server Profiler provides a graphical user interface to create, manage, analyze, and replay SQL traces. SQL Server Profiler provides several built-in templates where tracked events and columns for each
event are defined. You could select TSQL_Duration from the templates, and select the save to file option to save the captured event information into a trace file (.trc) that you can analyze later, or replay in SQL Server Profiler. For how to monitor a query
using SQL Server Profiler, please refer to the article:
    http://solutioncenter.apexsql.com/monitor-sql-server-queries-find-poor-performers-sql-server-profiler/
    2. Analyze the performance of a slow-running query according to the following article:
Displaying Graphical Execution Plans (SQL Server Management Studio). The information gathered allows you to determine how a query is executed by the SQL Server query optimizer
and which indexes are being used. Using this information, you can determine if performance improvements can be made by changing the indexes on the tables. For more information about how to use indexes to improve query performance, see
    General Index Design Guidelines.
    3. You could create additional statistics, or update statistics. For more information about how to use statistics to improve query performance, please refer to the article:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190397(v=sql.105).aspx#CreateStatistics.

I've already tried using optimizer hints and regathering the stats on the table, but the execution plan still remains the same, i.e. it still uses a FTS.
I have tried this command also:-
    exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('GECS','GEPS_CS_SALES_ORDER_HEADER',method_opt=>'for all indexed columns size auto',cascade=>true,degree=>4);
inspite of this, the query is still using a full table scan.
The table has around 55 Lakh records, across 60 columns. And because of the FTS, the query is taking a long time to execute. How do i make it use the index?
    Please help.

If the cardinality is really as skewed as that, you may want to look at putting a histogram on the column (sounds like it would be in order, and that you don't have one).
    create table skewed_a_lot
    as
       select
          case when mod(level, 1000) = 0 then 'N' else 'Y' end as Flag,
          level as col1
       from dual connect by level <= 1000000;
    create index skewed_a_lot_i01 on skewed_a_lot (flag);
exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(user, 'SKEWED_A_LOT', cascade => true, method_opt => 'for all indexed columns size auto');Is an example.

  • Why would Safari 6 not cache certain cacheable resources?

In our web application, which uses GWT, we have many Javascript resources. In the case of the GWT module's Javascript, the resource is 790kB (226kB gzipped). All the other Javascript and stylesheet resources are cached, but Safari 6 doesn't cache this one for some reason. Some points that may be important:
    - Our server sends this javascript gzipped, and the response does include the header
    Cache-Control: public,max-age=31536000
and I can see this response header, along with a confirmation that this resource is not cached, using the Safari developer extensions.
    - The URL has a .html extension, as is the pattern with GWT applications (it has to do with bootstrapping the module). I don't know if this is relevant, but it is the only difference I could identify between this resource versus others that are cached.
    - This is happening with Safari 6 on Mac OS 10.8.*. Chrome and Firefox on Mac, as well as the IE versions on Windows that we've tested do cache this javascript resource.
    - In my particular Safari environment, there are no extensions installed or enabled, and caching is definitely not disabled (and as I mentioned, all the other static resources that have the same Cache-Control header are cached as expected).
Has anyone else experienced an issue like this with a GWT web application or otherwise? Is the .html extension the the cause of issue? If so, why would Safari care about the content type of the resource when it comes to whether or not to cache it, as long as the appropriate HTTP response headers are set? And why would it behave differently from other browsers?
I spent some time searching for a similar question or discussion but I could not find anything here or anywhere else.

  • Mismatch query not working. Not sure what I did wrong.

In my query, I have created two CTE's. One pulls in the records of all people who are assigned to an audience. The other pulls in all people who are assigned to the same audience AND completed a certain course.
What I wanted to do from there, was to do a mismatch query, not to find the PEOPLE, but just the departments that were represented in the audience, but had no people in the list of those who completed the course. (In other words, say the HR Department had
three people in the audience... two completed the course, one did not. The HR Department should NOT show up in my mismatch query because some of their people completed the course. Then, say the IT Department had five people in the audience, and none of them
have completed the course. The IT Department SHOULD show up in my mismatch query. For this case, I don't care about the people who didn't complete it, just the departments where nobody did yet.)
I thought I was doing the mismatch query correctly, but I guess I must not. I will share the relevant parts of my query below (there is more to my query, but I don't think you necessarily need to see it to assist with this particular problem). (Side note:
Yes, I know the way I am doing the fiscal calendar is not ideal, but I've looked up other ways to do it, and do not understand it. Given time, I can break it down and understand it, but I am in a rush to finish this report.)

If anybody can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to do this so I can pull these records into a final table to count the records from the other two, but then include these as a 0 count where these departments have nobody certified.
To test if this was working, I created a query using this Mismatch query instead as the main query. Instead, it seemed to give me the exact opposite. It seemed to be giving me all of the Departments (MeasurePC) where the records were represented.

Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. Temporal data should
use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL as much as possible and not local dialect.
This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums. We have no sample data, so we cannot even guess.
    >> In my query, I have created two CTE's. One pulls in the records [sic] of all people who are assigned to an audience. The other pulls in all people who are assigned to the same audience AND completed a certain course. <<
Please, please learn the basic terms. Rows are not records. And THEN learn what “redundancy” means so you will not write two CTEs in the future.
    >> What I wanted to do from there, was to do a mismatch query, not to find the PEOPLE, but just the departments that were represented in the audience, but had no people in the list of those who completed the course. (In other words, say the HR Department
had three people in the audience... two completed the course, one did not. The HR Department should NOT show up in my mismatch query because some of their people completed the course. THEN, say the IT Department had five people in the audience, and none of
them have completed the course. The IT Department SHOULD show up in my mismatch query. For this case, I don't care about the people who didn't complete it, just the departments where nobody did yet.) <<
This is a Relational Division. It is one of Dr. Codd's original 8 operations.
We do not use the Sybase CURRENT_TIMESTAMP any more. We have DATE data types tody, rtoo. We never tibble in good code; it is a design flaw that used meta-data affixes like “tbl” in schema object _names, PK in column _names, etc. We do not have repeated groups
like “org_code_2”; we do not use arrays in RDBMS. Why is your data so screwed up you have use
    CASE
WHEN org_code2 LIKE 'US%' THEN 'US'
WHEN org_code2 LIKE 'CA%' THEN 'CA' END
to clean it up in a query; the DDL should have prevented this problem.
Why are you doing calendar computing in your query? Where is the Calendar table?
“Users.id = UsrOrgs.user_id” says that you have magic, generic “id” that can change its name from table to table. Likewise, a generic, magic “code”, etc. What might be even worse is that totally different data elements have the same name! “Automobiles, squids
and Lady Gaga” programming is not RDBMS.
You have never heard of ISO-11179 and data modeling?
Here is a skeleton for fiscal calendar table to replace your current row by row temporal math:
    CREATE TABLE Calendar
(cal_date DATE NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     fiscal_month CHAR(10) NOT NULL,
    INSERT INTO  Calendar
    VALUES
    ('2014-10-01', '2015-01-00', ..),
    ('2014-09-30', '2015-12-00', ..),
You can use a spread sheet and a text edit to fill in the table for 50 or 100 years.
I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601 data format required by Standard SQL and it is
language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'

I want to pin the sql query is cache because the physical reads are very high. Can anyone tell me steps to pin the sql query in the cache. Current version 10.2.1.0 OS : Windows.

    Oscar,
I've read Carys paper and a good paper it is.
The point I was trying to get across is that there should be no rules of thumb. (par this one of course ;) )
It all depends. Should one concentrate on reducing cpu usage on a disk-bound system? Is doing, say, 100 single-block reads from disk faster than doing 100 current mode gets?
