Query on ABAP List Viewer and Table Control?

Hi all,
I was trying to solve the exercises in these areas....but was unable to do as some of the concepts were not clear to me as I'm new to this field.
So Can any one help me out in giving me the Notes or attachments on the ABAP List Viewer(A.L.V.) and Table Control.

There is no difference between them.SAP List Viewer (ALV) is the new name of the ABAP List Viewer (ALV).
The SAP List Viewer unifies and simplifies the use of lists in the R/3 System. A uniform user interface and list format is available for all lists. This prevents redundant functions.
The SAP List Viewer can be used to view both single-level lists and multilevel sequential lists.
Single-level lists contain any number of lines that have no hierarchical relationship to each other.
Multilevel sequential lists consist of any number of lines that have two hierarchical levels. Multilevel lists have header rows and item rows; the item rows are subordinate to the header rows. For each header row there can be any number of subordinate item rows.
You can view subtotals and totals rows in both single-level lists and multilevel sequential lists
From End User Point it is SAP LIST viewer , From Developer Point of View it is ALV .

Print the result of an ABAP Program (in an infoset) in a ABAP List viewer.

Here is my question :
I have created an user group in SQ03
I have created an infoset in SQ02 and a query in SQ01.
In my infoset I have a piece of program which looks like that :

This program works fine, but when I create my query, I can just see the result in abap list.
When I choose "abap list viewer" or "Excel format", the result is more like :
" select * from all tables "
Is there a way to show the result in the viewer ?
I added a "WRITE :/ <column1>, <column2>, but the result is the same.
I also wonder if we can do a "group by " in ABAP.
And do you know how to make a condition " where my_date < today -19 days" ?

hi Chintai,
in bw side, you create a abap program to trigger an event in r/3,
and include this abap program in your process chain, the abap program like
CALL FUNCTION 'BP_EVENT_RAISE'
EXPORTING
eventid = 'ZRUNJOB_DEL'
and in r/3 schedule the program to delete previous data with 'after event',
the event name is same as raise by bw process chain, in this sample ZRUNJOB_DEL.

Difference between ALV and Table control

i want to know the major differences between AlV and table controls.
i know that table control is designed in screen painter, but i want to know the major diff between Table control and ALV.

Hi Naveen,
Basically ALV is a way to display the output and Table Control is designed in screen painter through which you can get entries in Table Control, can delete some records etc for further processing and its not use only for Display.
ALV is Application List viewer:-
Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
TABLE CONTROL:-
ABAP offers two mechanisms for displaying and using table data in a screen. These mechanisms are table controls and step loops. Table controls and step loops are types of screen tables you can add to a screen in the Screen Painter.

ABAP List Viewer help

I have a abap list viewer, when I do a filter by the first name with 'XXXX' the program doesn't find any data, but if no filter as been done the XXXX appears. How can I solve this?

I guess that the data that you are getting is in caps ( XXXX ) and you must be using small letters ( xxxx ) while putting a filter on the field.
This filter is case-sensitive. Try using the filtering the data in the same manner as you get from the database table. Give it a try may be it works..

Difference between Database view and Table

Can anyone tell me the difference between Database view and Table.
Will the Database view query be more faster than a database table?

Tables and database views can be defined in the ABAP Dictionary.
These objects are created in the underlying database with this definition. Changes in the definition of a table or database view are also automatically made in the database.
Data from several tables can be combined in a meaningful way using a view (join).
You can also hide information that is of no interest to you (projection) or only display
those data records that satisfy certain conditions (selection).
Database views implement an inner join. You only get those records which have an
entry in all the tables included in the view.
in views db modifications are not possible
views only contain data at run time
when they consult the database
in case of views the join definitions are already sstored in the database itself
whereas join as open sql is a query to oracle database as similar select statements
Views are optimized by SAP and stored in the repository while Joins
are in reports that needs to be compiled at every execution

ABAP LIST VIEWER

Hello friends,
How do I start configuring ABAP list viewer in sap. Any help will be great.

Hi,
ABAP List Viewer (ALV) doesn't need any configuration as such. You can generate an ALV using Classes (cl_gui_alv_grid, cl_gui_custom_container etc.) and also using FM (reuse_alv_list_dispaly). There is also something called as SALV.
So, pls explain your problem in detail.

Dynamic tabstrips and table control in custom infotype

Dear Experts,
I have a requirement to create a custom infotype using tabstrips and table control. The tabstripes should also be dynamically populated. For example we have infty 8(Basic pay) used table control and 24(Qualifications) for tabstripes.
Could you please tell me how to do this. Please do the needful ASAP.

Problem when creating list box in table control

Hi every body ,
 I am placing a list box in table control , the list box is coming perfectly but
when I am scrolling or pressing enter the data in that field is clearing.
 if I remove the list box , and i enter the data directly and scrolling or press enter
the data is not clearing.
But only for list box only it is be having like that

As per my knowledge goes, We can see from Administrator which Folder is associated with a Workbook. Else you may have to manually open each and every workbook and look for the objects.

I need a Query to find the Views and synonyms that are accessing through db_link.
ie.
database A have the db_link to database B through a schema A
now i need to find what are the Synonyms and views that are accessing through db_link either directly or indirectly..

On the second database (B) use this query to find the SQL which used by the schema A (DB LINK USER). Check the SQL_FULLTEXT column.

Table control is a screen table to display table data in a screen. You can add table control to a screen in the Screen Painter. The typical flow-logic to process table control is:
LOOP AT <internal table> CURSOR <scroll-var>
[WITH CONTROL <table-control> ]
[FROM <line1> ] [TO <line2> ].
...<actions>...
ENDLOOP.
ALV Grid is a SAP Technology to display a set of data on the output screen. For example if you have selected some SAP tables and processed these data in a way you want to display, then you can pass the internal table to the ALV Grid and it will be displayed on the result screen as ALV Grid. See example in SE16 result.

how to to get exact cell from lists (START-OF-SELECTION)
or from Table Control.
For example:

and now if I click for example on "es" now there should window apear about name "es"

You can retrieve information either about the current field or the current line.
For field information, use this syntax:
GET CURSOR FIELD <f> [OFFSET <off>]
 [LINE <lin>]
 [VALUE <val>]
 [LENGTH <len>].
This statement transfers the name of the field on which the cursor is positioned during a user action into the variable <f>. If the cursor is on a field, the system sets SY-SUBRC to 0, otherwise to 4.
The system transports the names of global variables, constants, field symbols, or reference parameters of subroutines. For literals, local fields, and VALUE parameters of subroutines, the system sets SY-SUBRC to 0, but transfers SPACE as the name.
The options have the following effects:
OFFSET <off>
The field <off> contains the position of the cursor within the field. If the cursor is on the first column, <off> = 0.
LINE <lin>
The field <lin> contains the number of the list line on which the cursor is positioned (SY-LILLI).
VALUE <val>
The field <val> contains the character string output representation of the field on which the cursor is positioned. The representation includes formatting characters.
LENGTH <len>
The field <len> contains the output length of the field on which the cursor is positioned.
you try with this logic.

now the fieldname and fieldval variables hold the values which was selected by user based on cursor position.

Query to find list of all tables relating to BP

Hi,
Is there any query which can generate list of all table names relating to BP?
For example tables like BUT000,020,051 etc which are related to BP. I know a list of 14-15 table names but do not know the name of each and every field that is existing in BP.
By writing a query can we get a list of all such table names for all the fields which appear in Field Grouping (which may be Role specfic)
