Query on Address Resolution Feature

Hi,
Can I mark a location on the map using its postal address(street, city, country), instead of its latitude/longitude coordinates(which are unavailable)? Example, would it be possible to mark my home at the map based on the address?
As, in docs, i can only see WGS 84(long/lat) coordinate system used.
Also, would it be possible to do vice-versa, i.e, on a mouse click event on the map, Can I capture the address?

You need to create the address geocoding data within Oracle database to enable such functionality.
Another way is to use to the google geocoding service to get the coordinates and then project the returned point to Oracle maps.

How do I use the address book feature which allows you to connect your contacts to their social networking profiles? (in Lion)

When I look up the 250+ new features of Mac OSX Lion, under address book, there's a new feature that interests me.
"Address Book lets you quickly access the social network profiles for your contacts, including Facebook. Press and hold an email address to select the appropriate profile."
Somehow I can't get it to work. What do I do?

Make sure it's on the Template (see the entry for Twitter):
Then update the contact with the relevant info.
For Twitter you can then click and hold the Twitter tag to either View Profile or Send Tweet.

Right clicking on a person's email address no longer allows me to "copy email address" a feature I used a ton. How can I do this now?

Hello, We use a program called Zimbra for work which houses our email and calendar systems. I used to be able to hover over someone's email address, right click, and an option would pop up to allow me to "copy email address". This feature stopped a week or more ago and I called my business tech support and they said it is not a feature of Zimbra so perhaps it is a Firefox issue. Thought I would ask. I do a lot of copy and pasting of email addresses for our job listservs and this was a helpful feature.

Thanks Barney. Yes, duplicating the file is a work around and I will use it for now. I was hoping that I could set a preference or something to have TextEdit save new files like it used to. Not sure why a redesign would limit options for saving files. That, to me, is crazy. Using the duplicating feature means more clicks to get it to do what I used to be able to do more easy. I hate "improvements" like this to an app.
I have "Documents and Data" checked in my iCloud preferences and when I uncheck it warns me that unchecking means that if I turn it off then all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted from the Mac. Not sure if I want to do that or nor. I don't like using iCloud for storage, but I think my photos from my iphoneare on there and I am not sure I want to keep those deleted off of this Mac as I use some photos for work related items and this is a work related Mac. What do you think?
I would like to try a "save as" option, but that does not even come up when the "File" menu is selected. Using the command key does not make it appear either.
And thanks for the advice about a hidden preference for iCloud. I have not found it, but I amnot sure why they would hide such a preference either.
I switched to Mac a few years ago because they were so much better than PCs. Now, they seem to be creeping into PC **** with unnecessary changes to apps that do not make any sense to me.

Query on Addresses

How can I write a query to show the address of an employee i.e., address1,address2 in different columns

API method to query multicast address and port of a cluster

I am new to Tangosol and I'm looking to write a quick Java dashboard that will display current information on our cluster, such as the clustername and the multicast address and port that is being used. Looking at the API I've found the Cluster object and I'm able to get the memeberset and the clustername.But I have not been able to find a way to query the multicast address and port being used by the cluster.
     Any help or links would be appreciated.

Address Book Feature Request of Maybe there is something already there

Address book is determined to be the central station liking all programs together. Map is a great examples which I use all the time launched directly from the address contact.
Is there a similar feature, plug-in, or anyones desire to click an address contact with the option to start a letter. I know you can drag to pages but it would be nice to start from address book and launch into pages, placing the desired address in a letter template. It would be so Mac like to make this as easy as possible.
Any thoughts!

Otherwise, you'll just have to write an AppleScript (e.g. with the Developer's Tools)

Query, email addresses and Outlook

Hi,
I have a query that returns a list of email addresses. I want to populate the to or cc field in Outlook programmatically? How can I do this? I'm trying to find a way to open the user's email client and put the email addresses from my query into the cc field ideally.
Any way to do this?
I know this: <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> will work, but that works because it's a hyperlink. Is there another way to simulate a hyperlink being clicked?

Basic answer is NO!
Once you ever, as a developer of web applications that run on a server, say anything like: "open the user's {blank} client" you have overstepped the bounds of client server applications. If we, web developers, could open what ever client tools we wanted, just imagine the havoc nefarious web developers (aka hackers) could do.
But you can provide links, that if the client has chosen configure their system to do so, would open the client tool request. I.E. for e-mail you could provide a "mail to" link with the proper suggestions for from, to, cc, subject etc.

Query on using Spaces feature to assign applications to spaces

I like the new Spaces feature, having been a user of VirtueDesktops before.
I have an issue with assigning an application to a particular Space.
The instructions from Help are below. I was able to do this for 4 applications, which seems to be as many as fit into the window available for listing them. Then, I hit the "+" to add other applications that are already running. When the pop-up menu appears, it does not list those applications (it does list Finder and the System Preferences that is running). So I go ahead and pick the application off the list from my Applications/ directory. It doesn't then appear in the list of applications in Spaces so that I can assign it to a particular space.
I assume that there isn't a limit to the number of applications I can assign in this way. Or is there a limit of 4.
In addition, when I use the Help feature on the Spaces assignment preferences panel, this text appears:
"To choose a space for the application, click the current space and choose from the pop-up menu."
However, it is not clear what "click the current space" means. One of the little numbered box images for the spaces that I have? Nothing happens when I click them.

If you want an application to always be available, no matter which space you’re in, open the pop-up menu and choose Every Space.

You cannot add the same application you already assigned to a Space.
When you click the + sign, the pop-up menu shows the running applications which have not been assigned to a Space. If an application has been assigned to a Space, it will not be shown in that menu because the System Preferences/Expose/Spaces preference pane is used only for assigning applications to Spaces. If it is already assigned, there is no need to show it because it cannot be assigned to another Space. In that menu if you select “other” it will open your Applications folder, but any apps that have been assigned (and others that are not applications) will be grayed out. Perhaps what you are trying to do is assign the same application to two different Spaces. This cannot be done with the virtual desktop in Leopard, Spaces.
You said you had experience with other virtual desktops. Those often let the user assign an application to two or three or more desktops. Spaces does not allow that. An application can be assigned to one Space or all Spaces, but not anything in between.
I have interacted with other users who have experience using other virtual desktops and see this as flaw in Spaces. Perhaps it is. I have not worked with other virtual desktops. But this is how Spaces operates as a virtual desktop: an application can be assigned to one Space or all Spaces, but not 2, 3, 4 or any other number.
If you see this as a big drawback with Spaces, you should notify Apple. I don’t remember the website for reporting bugs and suggestions, but you should be able to find it on these forums.
If you are trying to navigate to the application running in Space 5, hold down the Control key and press the number 5 key. If you want to move the application in Space 5 to an adjacent Space, grab a window of the application in Space 5 and drag it to the any of the four edges of that window and it will switch to that Space. However, if you quit that application and open it again, it will open in its assigned Space, Space 5.

Name-to-IP-Address-Resolution Problem

We recently installed a small Windows Server 2012 Essentials network. We are experiencing a persistent problem with one (and only one) of the workstations. We had to install/remove/reinstall the "connector" software on this machine
because of profile migration problems. It was a standalone Windows 7 laptop prior to joining the network. That was also the case for the other workstations, but their profile conversions went through smoothly the first time we ran the "connector"
software.
The actual IP address of this machine is 192.168.1.11 (based on IPCONIG run on the machine, data from the router's connected devices table, etc.). The machine name is PANASONIC. However, for some reason, the Win 2012 server links the PANASONIC
computer to the IP of 192.168.1.4 (rather than 11). This incorrect value is present in the server's DNS client resolver cache (as displayed by IPCONFIG /displaydns when run on the server). Even when I purged the DNS resolver cache (IPCONFIG /FlushDNS). The
incorrect pairing of PANASONIC with 192.168.1.4 keeps coming back. By the way, there are no additional entries in the HOSTS file on either the server or the workstation (they are the standard blank Windows HOSTS files).
As you know, Windows 2012 Essentials provides a DNS role to the 2012E server. So I thought I would check the data there (Administrative Tools > DNS > Forward Lookup Zones > actual domain name). I found the Panasonic listed there.
Under properties was an IP address field of 192.168.1.4 with a "timestamp" date of 12-23-2013, which is when we initially added the workstation to the 2012E network. Perhaps that was the IP value initially obtained on the first run of the "connector"
program.
This incorrect name/IP pairing has caused a number of problems (including the inability to use Remote Web Workplace to connect to this workstation, which we can do with all of the other machines on this network).
To solve the problem, should I manually change the IP address value in the DNS settings described above for the Panasonic machine? If so, should I also check the "update associated pointer (PTR) record" box?
If this is not the correct solution to the problem, can you suggest anything else I can do to resolve this persistent difficulty? Sorry if these are obvious questions, but DNS is not my area of expertise.

How to query the conflict resolution actually implemente

Hi all.
Can anyone tell me an easy way to report the conflict resolution procedures that a replicated object has implemented?
How do I know if a table has for example, site priority resolution and how it is done?
In general, is there a script to report all the replication configuration being used?

Assuming you are referring to Streams, you can download a Streams health check script at My Oracle Support (be sure to get the correct version, they cover 10gR1, R2, 11gR1, and R2). The output of the script will detail all of your rules and rule sets, process names, users, and so on. If you are calling a procedure to deal with conflict resolution, the action on error should reflect your procedure name, as an example.
If you are referring to GoldenGate, you can look at the appropriate parameter files (typically Replicat for conflict resolution purposes).
In either case, there is no setting or parameter that tags one source as the primary (or not). That designation is from a coding perspective. This implies that you capture the source of a record so you can evaluate "if error (whatever it is), then use record from source A."

If I understand you right, try this,
Go to Mail > Mail top menu > View > Customise toolbar > then drag the address book icon back into the top bar.

IP Address Resolution

How can I change the address that my IP appears to resolve to?
e.g. my IPAddress appears as, 86.146.131.73, but also, when I join things like IRC etc, I will also see the BT domain my IP Resolves to: "host86-146-131-73.range86-146.btcentralplus.com"
Is it possible, at all to change it to a custom one, for a Domain I own e.g. "staff.companyname.com" if so how can it be done?

What you are seeing is simply the reverse DNS lookup of your IP address which is returned from the BT nameserver, and cannot be changed.
Other people will see the same thing.
You would have to register your own domain, and have a static IP address associated with that name, to change it.
BT Residential customers do not have static addresses.

Address resolution protocol problem

I'm trying to find the MAC address of a know working printer on my network so I can add it to the DHCP reservation list on my server 2012. When I run arp -a, It doesn't show the IP address of the printer I'm looking for. I can ping the ip address of
the printer so I know it's on and it's working. I checked the IP address of the printer so I know that's correct. Why can't I see the ip address( and the MAC) address of the printer. Also, what is the mechanism that enters the IP and MAC address of the
printer in the ARP table of the print manager of server 2012?

Please check if the printer's IP and that computer's IP you are in same subnet , if not please try to use one computer with same subnet as the printer's then try to use "ping" and "arp -a " again .

Query regarding Manager & secretary feature.

My requiremnet is given below,
Secretary should be able to pick up managers phone and also if the manager doesn’t answer the call in 3 rings it should be forwared to secretaries extension.
We dont want to user IMPA feature.

Sunil, I can think of following options if you dont want IPMA..
1. Configure a shared line ( with privacy feature ) among Manager & Sec's phone line. If mgr doesnt pickup, sec will.
2. Use Call Pickup feature by adding these 2 phones in one pickup group. But here the sec shd be able to see/hear the mgr's phone ringing, so that she picks it up if mgr is away from desk etc.
3. Mgr's phone can be fwded to sec's phone using CFNA setting equivalent to 3 ring duration. So that if mgr doesnt answer call for 3 rings, call gets diverted to sec's phone.
Please refere CUCM Feature & Services guide for these.

Export Address Book Features

I'm trying to simplify managing Address Book contacts for exporting to an e-mail marketing application (Campaign Monitor). The problem is that when a contact has multiple e-mail addresses they will be displayed as a separate column in a CSV file but Campaign Monitor will only import one address per contact so we have to manually create 2 contacts if there are 2 e-mail addresses.
Is there a way to export from Adddress Book so that each e-mail address is a separate contact? Probably not but if anyone has any advice on how to manage this better would be great. I have about 3,000 names in Address Book and am adding 1 - 3 new ones every day. Syncing with Campaign Monitor is time consuming.

No. You would have to create a second contact card for each email address with only one email address per card.
