Query on database barkley created by subversion

Hi
I have installed Oracle Barkley DB and after Subversion.
Then I have created a repository in Subversion using the parameter --fs-type bdb (so using a structure of a database barkley) but now i would like to query statement sql using dbsql for instance. Is it possible it? I dont' be able to understand among files created by subversion which one of them is the effective database and after how cai i query it. Thanks

Hi,
AFAIK the Subversion SCM can use Berkeley DB (BDB) for storing revisions, tags, branches info etc. However, you seem to be wanting to use Berkeley DB SQL to somehow query the Subversion underlying databases. Note that the format of the Berkeley DB SQL databases (BDBSQL) is different than that of BDB databases.
Your question is better of posted on the Subversion Mailing Lists. I do not know the structure of the databases that Subversion generates; you would probably need to ask in the SVN mailing list or study the SVN source code to determine that. After that, you could use one of the BDB Core APIs (C, C++, Java, not SQL) to access that databases.

Andrei

  • Query distributed database with different character sets.

    Hello experts, this is my situation:
    I have two databases A and B, the same version 11.1.0.7, the same OS Suse Linux Enterprise 10 but with different character sets, A has WE8MSWIN1252 while B has AL32UTF8. The database B is my XML DB repository so there I have some XML type tables. I need to query this tables from the database A using a dblink and in fact I have done that but the XML content is trasformed due to the different character sets between the databases. Some time there are data loss and some time there are data missmatch.
    Is there any way to query the tables stored in the database B without problems? I do not know if the following is correct: Maybe I can set the character set for the session in the database A during the time it query the database B. That is, change the character set in fly at session level.
    Do you have any special suggestion?
    I hope you can help me, thank you in advance.

    The Globalization Support Guide for 11.1.0.7 has a chapter on character set migration that should be helpful. AL32UTF8 is a superset of WE8MSWIN1252 but it is not a strict superset. That is, it doesn't meet the second prong of the test in the documentation
    The new character set is a strict superset of the current character set if:
    Each and every character in the current character set is available in the new character set.
    Each and every character in the current character set has the same code point value in the new character set. For example, many character sets are strict supersets of US7ASCII.Exporting the data from the A, changing the character set (or creating a new database with the AL32UTF8 character set), and then importing the data may be the easiest approach in your case.

  • Is it possible to query which databases are on a databaseserver

    I am trying to create a list of databases to which a specified user can connect.
    The user has to specify the database server, user name and password and I want to show a list of possible databases.
    Can this be accomplished?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the help. The code below lists the databases in a MS SQL Server. For MySql I think the trick is to use the query "SHOW DATABASES;" with as column name 'Database', but I don't have a MySql Server here at this moment to test it.
        public static List getDatabases(final Connection dbCon) throws Exception {
            List databases = new ArrayList();
            try {
                String databaseName = null;
                ResultSet rs;
                Statement stat;
                stat = dbCon.createStatement();
                rs = stat.executeQuery("exec sp_databases");
                while (rs.next()) {
                    databaseName = rs.getString("DATABASE_NAME");
                    if (!databases.contains(databaseName)) {
                        databases.add(databaseName);
            } catch (SQLException e) {
                throw new Exception("Get databases failed:" + e.getMessage());
            return databases;
        }

  • How to detect whether a database was created by Restoring (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager) or by Attaching (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager)

    Ours is a SQL Server Express Edition 2008-R2 - Windows Forms based application. We have a backup/restore utility provided with our software which performs some logical checks before restoring a backup to ensure that the backup is functionally valid.
    However, our clients often use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager utility to 1) Restore backups or 2) Attach data files (kept aside before formatting) directly. This type of action bypasses all our functional checks and allows the user to restore an invalid
    backup.
    We want to detect that a database was restored/attached and may be we will stop the software from loading if such a thing happened. We think that this information (attach/restore) should be available within some table of SQL Server itself but don't know the
    right location/query.
    If any change is required in our software to achieve the above, we are ready to do the same too, e.g. may be we need to store some data at some point of time to make the detection happen, please advise.
    So, how can we detect that
    A database backup was restored using SQL Server Management Utility
    (Note: MSDB.Restorehistory may not be a good option as we have often found this table blank for unknown reasons even after backup was restored and just in case user restores the MSDB from MSDB backup or MSDB template due to a data corruption, may be due to
    abnormal shutdown of system, then the RestoreHistory table data is gone)
    A database was created by attaching a data/log file using SQL Server Management Utility
    Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    For Enterprise edition, we can enable Auditing to audit BACKUP_RESTORE_GROUP in a server audit specification. However, SQL Server audit (fine-grained auditing) feature is not available for the SQL Server Express.
    Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2008 R2
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993(v=sql.105).aspx
    When a database is attached, SQL Server ERRORLOG will record “Starting up database 'DBNAME'.”
    Using ALTER DATABASE OFFLINE and ONLINE will re-open the database files under the SQL Server, the SQL Server error log also contains the following informational message: “Setting database option ONLINE to ON for database 'DBNAME'.”

    If you check the execution plans it's quite obvious that the two environments can not be identical. If you have the same (amount of) data, then one of the two estimates is way off. Which one is in the right ballpark, how many rows are returned by the query? The same applies to the remaining operation ids of the plan, which estimate is correct?
    It's very likely that the underlying table/index statistics are not the same, and therefore you get different plans.
    By the way, you're using bind variables, therefore the output of the EXPLAIN PLAN is only of limited use, since the actual plan at run time might be completely different due to bind variable peeking and potentially histograms created on some of the columns (which is the default in 10g due to the "FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE AUTO" method_opt default parameter value).
    If you haven't disabled the pre-configured statistics collection job that runs every night in 10g, you might get different statistics due to this job already.

  • Cannot query v$database in a function ?

    Hi, probably a simple explaination for this...
    I'm trying to implement a solution using the flashback feature to roll back a table if a process flow hits errors.
    I have defined a function that tries to return the CURRENT_SCN from V$DATABASE but it says "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" when I try to deploy from the code editor.
    I can get the same code to work fine against a test table I have.
    Anything special I need to do before I can query V$DATABASE ?
    I can issue the same select statement from Oracle SQL Plus and it works ok.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi,
    I think you have no select permission on this view. In a function you have the same permissions as the user who created this function and you have no permissions granted by role - only direct granted to the user.
    This is the same for functions and procedures.

  • Questions about Oracle 9I AS, reports.... to query multiple database

    Hi friends,
    I am working for the HR dept of a big company and our
    group will implement some enviornment to present HR reports for the leadership through web interface.
    I have checked the Oracle 9iAS page and it seems it is
    a pretty nice tool. The reports service is very impressive. We mainly use Java/JSP to do the project,so
    this Oracle9i can fit our development team. One of
    the problem is that we have multiple databases running
    on different machines,including Oracle 7, Oracle 8i and
    SQL Server 2000. So, one of the requirements is to query
    multiple databases of different verdors.
    So my question is:
    can Oracle9i AS (especially the reports service) do this
    multiple database query? I know with pl/sql, we can create
    database link to do this query, but can we do it in
    reports tools?

    Yes you can do Even in the reports.

  • Complex query crashing database!

    Hi
    Our 10g database runs on Windows 2003 (with 32 GB RAM on server).
    Whenever a user is running a particular complex query, the database just crashes suddenly.
    In fact, it doesn't write anything in alert log file for any problem.
    The user starts the query, it runs for sometime, then suddenly database crashes!
    Only way to work there after is to restart the database.
    Although I asked the user to not to run that query again but it is generated by some application which may generate similar query again!
    So, how I can prevent database from crashing again?
    Will creating a resource profile to allocate finite resource help? Problem is since database crashes so suddenly, I can't find any info from log files!
    Thanx

    The database instance crashes. We have to start the ORACLE.EXE again to up the database.

  • Query multiple database

    Hi ALL
    I have two databases A and B.
    I am working in database A but want to fetch some record from a table which is in database B.
    I am using a select query like
    select max(end_dt) from log
    This log table is in Database B
    Please give any suggestion.
    Thanks

    create a database link on the A database to link to database B:
    CREATE DATABASE LINK DB_B
       CONNECT TO scott IDENTIFIED BY tiger
       USING 'Bl';Then on A you can query the log table on B:
    SELECT max(end_dt) FROM log@DB_B;The user that creates the database link on A will need the CREATE DATABASE LINK system privilege.
    grant CREATE DATABASE LINK to userOnA.

  • Query ARD Database

    Does anyone know how to query the Apple Remote Desktop 3.5 database from a remote computer? (ie what is the username, password, port)

    I can read the plist, yes. What I am looking to do is query the database.
    Apple posted an article for ARD 2 and 3.2 here: http://developer.apple.com/appleapplications/ardsql.html
    but after they upgraded to ARD 3.3 it changed to sqlite and disabled/moved these:
    In ARD 3, the default port is now 5433.
    The default username for the database is still 'ard'. However, the default password is now created randomly when the database is first run. The username and password are stored in /private/var/db/RemoteManagement/RMDB/passwd.txt. The password is displayed in plain text in the file.
    I know that I can read the database in terminal using the command: sudo /usr/bin/sqlite3 -column -header /var/db/RemoteManagement/RMDB/rmdb.sqlite3 'select * from systeminformation;'
    but just looking to see if there is a way to read the same database from a remote comptuer. (ie, what port, username and password) should I use?

  • Query Non Database items in form

    I need to be able to query non database items in the form.

    Hi,
    Yes you can do this. You have to create control items all of them have same data type and lenght as table's. then you can issue select statement. eg.,
    select field1, field2
    into :item1, :item2
    from table_name;
    Hope this helps

    My MSSQL Server express 2014 edition x64  and My desktop "Report Builder (RB) 3.0' is 32bit (x86).
    Does Report Builder x64 exist? I didn't see anywhere so I downloaded x86 RB

    Hi mujb,
    Per my understanding you are using the report builder 3.0 to design the report and when you click the query designer button to execute the query you got the error message above, right?
    I have tested on my local envornment and your issue can be caused by the user "SQLServer2014\Mubs"  and "mujb-HP\mujb"  haven't grant permission to the report server or the shared dataeource/dataset if you have used this.
    I would like to confirm if you have assigned both the Item-Level and System-Level role of the user above to sucessfully access the report server, If you haven't grant any access to the above user and when you connect to the report server in the report builder,
    you may got the error message:
    More details information below for your reference:
    Please execute the query in the microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to see if you have permission to execute the query.
    If the query works fine in step1, please run the report builder as Administrator and if you are using the shared datasource/dataset the issue can be cause by the you haven't grant access the share datasource, Double click to open the Datasource
    and click the "Test Connection" as below to test if it can connect successfully:
    If the "Test Connection" failed, please click the shared datasource/dataset on Report Server to check if you have grant correct permission.

  • How to query a database file on my hard drive?

    Hi,
    I have a filer called "server.dbs" on my hard drive. It is a database file. I use a simple program that allows you to view databases, and it loads up and I can traverse the database and see all the entries as any standard database.
    So I figured that Java's ability to handle SQL would allow me to make a standard SQL statement querying the database, and be able to get the results. The software stores servers in SID fields, and the value is the port the server runs on. I want to make a simple query to select a server by SID, and print the port in which that server is running on.
    So is there any way to, via my java application, load a database from a file (rather than a url) which has no authentication required, and simply make my queries directly to that file? If so, how?
    Thanks!
    -Josh

    Normal database access is via JDBC.
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html
    To use that JDBC driver is needed to access the database. Databases in wide usage all have one. It isn't clear from your posting that you have a common database though.
