Query on jar files in PAR file

Hi All,
I have a PAR file, which contains a JAR file (and this jar file contains the classes). I have extracted these class files and have decompiled them into .java files
These java files are present into a package (eg xx.yyy.zzz). So should I create this folder structure on my local directory ? These java files are referring to a no of other imports (I believe that they are other class libraries, so will I have to include them in the classpath ?)
Also, I want to make some modifications to these java class, re-compile them and post them into the .jar file
Can someone let me know the steps involved with this procedure.
Thanks,
Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,
Can I ask why you wanted to decompile the class files in the JAR? Is it your own JAR or don't you have the original source code? I would not recommend you use a decompiler to get back to the source, as decompilers are not always 100% reliable or accurate (sometimes useful to see what is going on in code only).
I would recommend that if you need to make changes to the classes in the JAR that you extend the objects and write your own objects that inherit from the originals if possible. That way you can leave the JAR intact and just reference them in your own code.
Hope this helps,
Simon

  • Imported par file to NWDS, jar file missing. Where find par file structure?

    Hi All,
    We want to implement idle session timeout on the portal.  We found a wiki here on the subject.  In order to implement the solution we need to make adjuestments to com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par.bak.  When we import this par file to Netweaver Developer Studio, the libraries and jar files are missing.  So obviously it errors then in portal as files are missing.
    So I could add them manually but I don't know what the file structure is on this par file so don't where to add what.  Does anyone know?
    Also when I export the file after manually adding the missing files, will it export all the files or will it behave the same way as the import and leave out the additional files?
    If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it,
    Kind regards,
    Liz.

    Hi Bala,
    I thought of that just before you responded and it worked!!  Thanks for the response..

  • Jar files are not exported while PAR Export

    Hi Experts,
    When  I am exporting as PAR file, in the par file  I am not getting the jar files, which I am adding as external jar files in the java build path - Libraries
    Please tell me the solution. urgent...

    Step 6 makes your third party jars available during runtime on your server since you put the dependency to runtime. I don't think you need/can reference your j2ee server dc in the portalapp.xml.
    Summary of the link I sent you:
    1. Create an External Library DC
    2. Copy all of the Jars I needed to the libraries folder of this DC
    3. Create two Public Parts (right click on the jar files in Package Explorer)
          i) compilePart (with purpose compilation)
          ii) assemblyPart (with purpose assembly)
    4 Create a new DC of type J2EE Server Component / Library
    5. Add a Used DC to the J2EE Library, reference the compilePart from previous step, and set Dependency type to Build
    6. Add another Used DC, reference the assemblePart, this time select both Build and Runtime Dependency Types
    7. Build and deploy.

  • Difference b/w PAR & JAR Files

    hi,
    i m new to enterprise portal(EP),what is a use of PAR file in portal appl , what is the difference b/w PAR & JAR files,why cant we can use JAR file.
    thank in advance naresh

    Hi,
    In computing, a JAR file (or Java ARchive) is used for aggregating many files into one. It is generally used to distribute Java classes and associated metadata.
    1) WAR (file format) (Web Application aRchive) files are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes, Java Server Pages and other objects for Web Applications.
    2) RAR (Resource Adapter aRchive) files, not to be confused with the RAR (file format), are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes and other objects for J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) applications.
    3)EAR (file format) (Enterprise ARchive) files are composite Java archives which combine XML files, java classes and other objects including JAR, WAR and RAR Java archive files for Enterprise Applications.
    JAR files can be created and extracted using the "jar" command that comes with the JDK. It can be done using zip tools, but as WinZip has a habit of renaming all-uppercase directories and files in lower case, this can raise support calls with whoever created the JAR or the tool authors themselves. WinRAR, on the other hand, retains the original case of filenames.
    A JAR file has an optional manifest file located in the path META-INF/MANIFEST.MF. The entries in the manifest file determine how the JAR file will be used. JAR files which are intended to be executed as standalone programs will have one of their classes specified as the "main" class. The manifest file would have an entry such as
    Portal applications are packaged in PAR (Portal Archive) files. A PAR file is a standard ZIP file with a .par extension that contains a deployment descriptor, all Java classes, Web resources and other files required to run the application.
    Within the portal, the name of the PAR file is the name of the application. The fully qualified name of any component or service defined in the PAR is the name of the PAR file, followed by a period (.) and then the name of the component or service.
    A PAR file contains the following files:
    The following files are contained files contained in a PAR file are divided into the following types:
    ●     Web resources
    All files in a PAR file that are accessible directly via an HTTP request, such as:
    ○     HTML
    ○     Images
    ○     Stylesheets (.css)
    Web resource files can be located anywhere outside the top-level PORTAL-INF and META-INF folders.
    You can create links to these files directly. For more information, see Creating URLs to Web Resources.
    ·        Java Classes and Deployment Descriptor
    Java classes that implement the component and services defined in the PAR file, plus the deployment descriptor (portalapp.xml). The deployment descriptor specifies the components and services contained in the PAR file, and defines the configuration for the application, components and services. For more information the deployment descriptor, see Deployment Descriptor (portalapp.xml).
    The PAR file’s Java classes and deployment descriptor are located in the top-level PORTAL‑INF folder
    ·        Manifest
    A PAR can also include a manifest file (MANIFEST.MF in the top-level META-INF folder), which provides version information. The folder and file are not required, but are recommended for tracking versions of your application.
    in enterprise portal we use mainly EAR as jar files.
    to import EAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
    system administration -> Transport -> Transport Packages -> import -> choose client or server on your convinence and browse to this file and press upload and then after uploading press import
    for PAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
    system administration -> support -> Support Desk -> in Top Level Areas selcet portal runtime -> in "Portal Anywhere" Admin Tools select Administration Console -> in Upload Archive Specify a Portal Archive (PAR) file and choose 'Upload' to store the PAR in the PCD-> browse the file and press upload.

  • How to authenticate a JWS Client download of jar files on a web server

    Here is a history of how i tried to implement the auth system:
    The resources(jar files) cannot be downloaded by any HTTP client from the server without some authentication method.
    As JWS is not reliable when using cookies (only 1.5 supports them, but with problems when in JNLP file i specify j2se version=older that 1.5) , i implemented another mecanism that works like this:
    1. 1.The template JNLP looks like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <jnlp codebase="http://10.3.0.62/" href="mapped/#JWS_CODE#___#PLATFORM#___app2.2.jnlp">
        <information>
           bla bla
        </information>
        <security>
            <all-permissions/>
        </security>
        <resources>
            <j2se version="1.4"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/gui.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#" version="2.2"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/data.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#" version="2.2"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/log4j.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#"/>
        </resources>
        <application-desc main-class="com.bet.blues.gui.Application">
            <argument>-host</argument>
            <argument>ursus</argument>
            <argument>-port</argument>
            <argument>17771</argument>
        </application-desc>
    </jnlp>2. All resources found in /mapped/ directory are mapped to JWSServlet
    3. The users login to a site , clik on link , /mapped/app2.2.jnlp , the servlet checks if the session is active , gets the PLATFORM form browser request header , gets the JWSCODE for the logged user, replaces this in the template, and returns it to the client
    4.Now after the 1st download the JNLP file is opened by JWS Client , that checks for latest version , requesting the JNLP file again
    like this:
    GET http://10.3.0.62/mapped/f12ks21092___windows___app2.2.jnlp5.Now the servlet sees the the request has a JNLP file name with an ID and PLATFORM, and serves the JNLP as before
    6.The JWS Client will request for JAR Files
    GET http://10.3.0.62/mapped/gui.jar?jwscode=f12ks21092?version-id=2.2Note: that i have forced JWSID parameter in the URL, that's why the query string contains 2 "?"
    - forcing this is because the mapped/*.jar is redirected JnlpDownloadServlet that supports versions , diffs - i cannot use 'version' to put there the jswid param(e.g .../mapped/gui.jar version="fk12ks21092_2.2" because the JnlpDownloadServlet will not find this version , and if JWS Servlet will redirect to JnlpDownloadServlet with correct version param in request, the JWS Client will raise an exception because version responded is not right(JNLPDownloadServlet marks in response HTTP header the version of the jar so JWS CLient will chek it)
    JWS Client expects version 'fk12ks21092_ver2.2'; to correct this i should modify the JnlpDownloadServlet and i shouldnt
    THE PROBLEM :
    on older versions than 1.5 JWS Client raises an exception because it wants to create a temp file named
    " gui.jar?jwscode=f12ks21092" because it contains "?"
    Only with 1.5 that seems to parse the jar name until it meets "?" char :(
    Thats why i wanted to send an error to the client to upgrade to Java Web Start 1.5
    Now, maybe u have a solution to this problem...
    All i want is a solution to let JWS Client download jars only if the user is authenticated by some mecanism....and also support the versioning system.
    Also:
    Note that the jar names must preserve on the client JWS Cache dir ( i cannot use the same method to pass the JWSCODE when requesting the JARS as when requesting the JNLP).

    You need to look into JAAS

  • How to use a packaged Jar File?

    Greetings to everyone reading this post!
    I have a query about a thing that seems to be basic but I don't know how to accomplish, here it goes:
    I have packaged a Simple application into a Jar file. this application contains a package like this:
    lib.demo, inside this package I have a Class named MyClass with some simple methods like this one:
    public void sayHi(String name){
    //implementation here
    }Now, I would like to Know how to use the Method sayHI(String name) from an entirely different Project. I have successfully included the Jar File as a Library(in the new Project), but I have I no Clue on How to invoke a Class inside my Jar library, and more Importantly, a method.
    Could anybody help me?

    if the "project" (not a Java-related system, it's IDE-specific) already includes the JAR file in its classpath (library), then all you need is to import the package/class and invoke the method, as such:
    // in your client code:
    import lib.demo.*;         // or, import lib.demo.MyClass;
    public class Test {
      public void inAMethod() {
        MyClass myC = new MyClass();
        myC.sayHi("say hi");
    }simple.

    According to the Jar Guide (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jar/jarGuide.html)
    Executable Jar Files
    On Microsoft Windows systems, the Java 2 Runtime Environment's installation program will register a default association for Jar files so that double-clicking a Jar file on the desktop will automatically run it with javaw -jar. Dependent extensions bundled with the application will also be loaded automatically. This feature makes the end-user runtime environment easier to use on Microsoft Windows systems.
    The Solaris 2.6 kernel has already been extended to recognize the special "magic" number that identifies a Jar file, and to invoke java -jar on such a Jar file as if it were a native Solaris executable. A application packaged in a Jar file can thus be executed directly from the command line or by clicking an icon on the CDE desktop.
    Despite that every JAR file can be executed as a program if and only if the META-INF/Manifest.mf contains the Main-Class tag. This done through java -jar jarfile.jar
    --olaf

  • Jar files downloaded from SkyDrive are being renamed to jar.zip files

    I have cut and pasted the following series of exchanges from when I posted the problem onto SkyDrive's support forum. I hope that someone might be able to propose a better solution to the problem that I have. Thanks for your help.
    MDSms asked on
    Uploaded jar files convert to jar.zip files when downloaded from SkyDrive
    I have uploaded an executable jar file to SkyDrive. (I will call this FILE.jar). The file is intact and indicates that it is a jar file type when the file is viewed by Properties within Skydrive. However, when I download (or others download through a share link) the file, it is being saved onto the local computer's download file with .zip appended to the file name (FILE.jar.zip). The downloaded file can be renamed to remove the .zip appendage and subsequently run successfully. However the folder options for the folder where the downloaded file resides must be changed for disable "Hide known file extensions" prior to being able to remove the .zip appendage. While I have figured out the workaround for this problem, this manual renaming procedure is entirely too cumbersome as a solution for sharing this file with others. How can I prevent or disable the FILE.jar file from being renamed to FILE.jar.zip when it is downloaded from SkyDrive?

    The file was uploaded by first logging onto my SkyDrive account using Windows 7 Pro and Firefox browser, then a new folder in my account was created without sharing privileges, then the folder was opened and the FILE.jar was uploaded into the folder using the "Upload" option on skydrive account menu. Sharing privileges for FILE.jar were then created (view only), and the shortened url link was sent to the individuals that I was trying to share the file with. was then turned on. When these people use the link to download the file, it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip.
    When I try to download the file through the skydrive account download option, it is being saved onto my computer as FILE.jar.zip and this occurs when I try to download the file while signed into my skydrive account as well as when I am not signed into my skydrive account (using the shared file link).
    This PNG shows the information provided by clicking on the download icon (down arrow) within the Firefox browser; note that the file was downloaded as FILE.jar.zip and that the source was live.com. When I use Windows Explorer to look at the same file within the Download folder itself, examining the file's properties details also shows that it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip and is of the file type compressed zip folder.
    This PNG shows the information displayed to me from my skydrive account when I view the originally uploaded file's properties; note that the information shows that the file is a jar file type.
    When I utilize Internet Explorer 9 to access the file, FILE.jar is being downloaded onto my computer as a jar file type. This PNG shows the information provided by Tools/View Downloads within the IE9 browser. Note that in this instance, the information indicates that the file is being downloaded from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    It appears to me that the problem (the FILE.jar file being renamed to FILE.jar.zip) arises from the fact that a jar file downloaded from skydrive using firefox, is being sent from live.com whereas a jar file downloaded from skydrive using IE9 is being sent from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    I want to make sure that a person receiving a share link from me for FILE.jar is able to download it without modification to the file name regardless of which browser is being using to access the link. How can I make sure that this occurs?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi MDSms,
    I appreciate you for providing as much information as you can about the issue, as well as for uploading screenshots on what you see from the downloaded file. About your initial concern wherein the file gets renamed with .zip after the original file extension, this is solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented.
    Moreover, you may see the file servers live.com and yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com to be different with one another, but they actually are sent from the same SkyDrive server. This in turn, depends on the web browser where the file is being downloaded as well. The live.com file where it was downloaded from Firefox simply masks its original server yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    As for your last query about your recipients downloading the file without the hassle of renaming it from a .zip file, you can simply tell them to download it through Internet Explorer.
    Should you have other queries or additional information that might help in our investigation, I highly encourage you to post them here.
    Regards,
    Michelle

    Michelle,
    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I could simply tell them to download the file through Internet Explorer, but is there another solution or workaround to the problem I have described here? Am I being punished with the curse of this problem simply because I (or the individuals with which I wish to share FILE.jar with) choose to use Firefox instead of IE? Will the use of any other browser instead of IE (Chrome, Safari, etc., etc.) still result in the same problem?
    You stated that it is "solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented"........could the problem be overcome by designating one or both of the file server addresses as Trusted Sites within the browser options setting?
    I look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.

    Hi MDSms,
    We understand your concern. Since the issue does not occur in Internet Explorer, it has something to do with Firefox's security feature. You might want to verify this concern by contacting Firefox support.
    Hope this helps. Let us know if we can further assist you with SkyDrive.

    Hi,
    Can you check up if this is located in the following path.
    System Administration ->Support->Portal Runtime
    Here navigate to ROOT/WEB-INF/portal/portalapps
    Open the folder with the name of the par file and check up if you can locate the jar.

    But when I query user_objects to see if EConnection is in there,

    I picked up the idea of running java inside oracle from an OCP and I can run a simple isolated java program myself and even make database calls.
    But it seems I didn't get all the knowledge i need when it comes to loadjava and getting a jar files classes into user_objects to be useful.
    Can anyone help an oracle noob with loadjava?

    Thank you, Gary.
    I updated the post with the version info. I did not explicitly install this JDBC driver, so whatever the OSD came with?  Unless it is using whatever is installed on my machine, in which case would be the thin driver.
    I did check out that post, and I appreciate you sharing it. I did click the 'include synonyms' filter, but behavior remained unchanged.
    I would prefer to use OSD, and that is what our dev team was expecting to use, but we just can't see the information.  We are using an ID that does not 'own' those tables, per se.  But, why would DBVisualizer show these tables, when OSD does not?

    The errors shown in the JSP page are due to missing JARs. But I am having trouble in locating the required JAR files on the server. Can anybody tell about which all JARs are required and where i can find them??
    Also the imported Framework library is not accessible in the application thus there is error "Can not find the tag library descriptor for "prt:taglib:tlframework"".
    Can anybody tell me what i am missing here??
    Regards,
    Deepak

  • Urgent help for processing XML stream read from a JAR file

    Hi, everyone,
         Urgently need your help!
         I am reading an XML config file from a jar file. It can print out the result well when I use the following code:
    ===============================================
    InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream("conf/config.xml");
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is));
    String line;
    while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
    System.out.println(line); // It works fine here, which means that the inputstream is correct
    // process the XML stream I read from above
    NodeIterator ni = processXPath("//grid/gridinfo", is);
    Below is the processXPath() function I have written:
    public static NodeIterator processXPath(String xpath, InputStream byteStream) throws Exception {
    // Set up a DOM tree to query.
    InputSource in = new InputSource(byteStream);
    DocumentBuilderFactory dfactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    dfactory.setNamespaceAware(true);
    Document doc = dfactory.newDocumentBuilder().parse(in);
    // Use the simple XPath API to select a nodeIterator.
    System.out.println("Querying DOM using " + xpath);
    NodeIterator ni = XPathAPI.selectNodeIterator(doc, xpath);
    return ni;
    It gives me so much errors:
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The root element is required in a well-formed doc

    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The root element is required in a well-formed document.This often means that the parser can't find the document. You think it should be able to find the document because your test code could. However if your test code was not in the same package as your real (failing) code, your test is no good because getResourceAsStream("conf/config.xml") is looking for that file name relative to the package of the class that contains that line of code.
    If your test code wasn't in any package, put a slash before the filename and see if that works.
