Query on owb 9.2.0.4 with src db on 10 G

Hello,
We are using owb 9.2.0.4. However we are in the process of
upgrading our db ( source ) to 10G and later the target also.
I have seen in the http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/ORACLE_WAREHOUSE_BUILDER_10g_FAQ.htm
that
' Can I use Warehouse Builder 9.2 with Oracle 10g database?
You can only use Oracle 10g database with Warehouse Builder 9.2 to store the design or run-time repositories. Because OWB 9.2 does not have a 10g location, you can not use an Oracle 10 g source or target. If you are sourcing from or targeting Oracle 10g database you must use OWB 10g.
Basing this .. what are the limitations is it only wrt to the locations that i can create ?
Because in 9.2.0.4 i can see there are no 10G locations defined.
However if i do not change any of the existing set up ( the db of src is 9i and so are the location config )
but physically upgrade the db ( src ) to 10G, i can still see that the mappings are running fine.
I am not in a position to clearly comprehend what the limitation in the above case is actually is ?
Please explain.
Thanks.

I would suggest upgrading OWB to 10.1 at the least or the current 10.2 version. These are certified with 10g databases. Even though your maps seem to work you are probably running in an unsupported environment.
The upgrade of OWB should be relatively painless although I have not done that particular upgrade personally. Maybe others can comment on that process.
Good luck.

  • Sql query slowness due to rank and columns with null values:

Sql query slowness due to rank and columns with null values:
I have the following table in database with around 10 millions records:
    Declaration:
    create table PropertyOwners (
[Key] int not null primary key,
    PropertyKey int not null,
    BoughtDate DateTime,
    OwnerKey int null,
    GroupKey int null
    go
[Key] is primary key and combination of PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey and GroupKey is unique.
    With the following index:
CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX [IX_PropertyOwners] ON [dbo].[PropertyOwners]
    [PropertyKey] ASC,
    [BoughtDate] DESC,
    [OwnerKey] DESC,
    [GroupKey] DESC
    go
    Description of the case:
For single BoughtDate one property can belong to multiple owners or single group, for single record there can either be OwnerKey or GroupKey but not both so one of them will be null for each record. I am trying to retrieve the data from the table using
following query for the OwnerKey. If there are same property rows for owners and group at the same time than the rows having OwnerKey with be preferred, that is why I am using "OwnerKey desc" in Rank function.
    declare @ownerKey int = 40000
    select PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey, GroupKey
    from (
    select PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey, GroupKey,
RANK() over (partition by PropertyKey order by BoughtDate desc, OwnerKey desc, GroupKey desc) as [Rank]
    from PropertyOwners
    ) as result
    where result.[Rank]=1 and result.[OwnerKey]=@ownerKey
It is taking 2-3 seconds to get the records which is too slow, similar time it is taking as I try to get the records using the GroupKey. But when I tried to get the records for the PropertyKey with the same query, it is executing in 10 milliseconds.
May be the slowness is due to as OwnerKey/GroupKey in the table  can be null and sql server in unable to index it. I have also tried to use the Indexed view to pre ranked them but I can't use it in my query as Rank function is not supported in indexed
    view.
Please note this table is updated once a day and using Sql Server 2008 R2. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

create table #result (PropertyKey int not null, BoughtDate datetime, OwnerKey int null, GroupKey int null, [Rank] int not null)Create index idx ON #result(OwnerKey ,rnk)
insert into #result(PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey, GroupKey, [Rank])
    select PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey, GroupKey,
RANK() over (partition by PropertyKey order by BoughtDate desc, OwnerKey desc, GroupKey desc) as [Rank]
    from PropertyOwners
    go
    declare @ownerKey int = 1
    select PropertyKey, BoughtDate, OwnerKey, GroupKey
    from #result as result
    where result.[Rank]=1
    and result.[OwnerKey]=@ownerKey

    Hi,
how to find using SCCM SQL query,  application deployed on win 7 machines with SCCM 2012 server or user/technician installed manually. Please let me know.

Thanks, is it not possible via any script also?
Like Torsten said, how can you tell the difference between CM12 installed applications and locally installed? Once you can answer that, then you can write report.

  • Query to find the request group associated with a responsibility

    Hi All,
I have to attach a report to around 30 responsibilities. For this I will have to find the request group for each responsibility and then add the Concurrent Program for the report in the corresponding request group.
Can anyone help me with a query to find the request group associated with a responsibility.
    Regards,
    SK

Just to add to the query above, if you want to see request group along with request_group_id you do join as follows
    SELECT frv.responsibility_name
    ,frg.request_group_name
    FROM fnd_request_groups frg,
    fnd_request_group_units frgu,
    fnd_responsibility_vl frv
    WHERE 1 = 1
    AND frgu.request_group_id = frg.request_group_id
    AND frv.request_group_id = frg.request_group_id
    ORDER BY responsibility_name

  • Plugging a sql query into OWB.

    Hi,
I have a complex Sql query which returns some records. I want to use this query in OWB. But i don't want to write any procedures or functions. Is there a way just to plug this code into OWB to run it.
    vasu

Any objection to putting the query into a view?
The only other possible way I can think of that might work would be to create an expression object, define your desired output columns in the output group, and then copy in your query per column as the defined expression for that column. (hardly the efficient option!). I think you might have to create some sort of dummy input for this to pass through the validation for expressions too (e.g. perhaps also use a constant defined as sysdate passed as an input to the expression, but then never referenced in the queries).
Can't say for sure if you can fool OWB into using your query in an expression object or not - but that would be the only way I can think of which might be possible to avoid using a view/function/procedure.

  • Don't patch OWB 10.2.0.2 with Patch 5907956!

    Hi,
I patched my OWB 10.2.0.2 with patch 5907956 to resolve the bug in the data profiling option and get another error "can't find method create sample.." instead which should be solved in 10.2.0.4! (Metalink).
Because 10.2.0.3 is announced for August 2007 I could not longer wait and downgrade to 10.2.0.2.
    Be aware of this patch!
    Regards
    Detlef

    Hi Detlef
The patch will be resolved and uploaded again. I'll post when that happens. The one-off patch is also included in OWB 10.2.0.3 (not 10.2.0.4 as you posted).
In the meantime if you do use this one-off patch(5907956) you can resolve by doing the following....
    1. Go to shiphome/owb/lib/int
    2. dropjava -u <REPOS>/<PASSWD> -r -v fd.jar
    3. loadjava -u <REPOS>/<PASSWD> -r -v fd.jar
    Cheers

  • Hi I am using Iframe with src="abc.mht" file. i want to view the mht file content in same window.please help.. Thanks in Advance

Hi I am using Iframe with src="abc.mht" file. i want to view the mht file content in same window.please help..
    Thanks in Advance

This is not a Java problem, this is a WEBBOT problem.
I suggest that you research the topic in your FrontPage help files.
Yes, we do know how to solve this problem using ordinary HTML and JSP. The sample code that you've posted implies that you are looking for an extremely different solution. To put it another way, it looks like you're logging onto the Federal Aviation Administration's forums and asking them how to go from Chicago to New York by train.
But in any case, if you can't find the information in FrontPage, I'm 100% certain that if you went to www.microsoft.com and searched for FrontPage and downloads, and skipped the results that actually want you to download FrontPage, you'll get some sample code.

  • Facing problem in implementing the analytical query in OWB

    Hi All,
I was trying analytical function for my Customer Dimension but am not able to implement the same in my OWB.I have 2 tables who have duplicates customers which cannot be figured out by Customer id as customer id is not unique. So, i have to filter out the information on the basis of First Name, middle name, last name & DOB. Since, each customer has multiple address records( for Permanent, Correspondence, Unknown ).
I want 1 record for all the three address types.
Can i do thru the following query???
If yes, how will i implment the same in OWB.

Please help me out as right now, am using aggregators which are taking lot of time. Loading type on my Customer Dimension table is- Insert/Update
    Thanks in advance
    -Nikita.

    Hello Nikita,
From your first post I understand that you would like to merge 3 similar (but not complete identical) records into 1 record. If this is the case, then have you thought about using the match-merge operator in OWB?
With the match-merge operator you can tell the mapping which records are similar by selecting "first_nm", "middle_nm", "last_nm" in the Match-Bin of the operator.
Then you define how attributes should be merged.
This way you do not need to aggregate your source data set. Just select all records from both source tables. Put those in the Set-Operator "UNION ALL" and this will be you input for the match-merge operator.

  • Query help needed for querybuilder to use with lcm cli

    Hi,
I had set up several queries to run with the lcm cli in order to back up personal folders, inboxes, etc. to lcmbiar files to use as backups.  I have seen a few posts that are similar, but I have a specific question/concern.
I just recently had to reference one of these back ups only to find it was incomplete.  Does the query used by the lcm cli also only pull the first 1000 rows? Is there a way to change this limit somwhere?
Also, since when importing this lcmbiar file for something 'generic' like 'all personal folders', pulls in WAY too much stuff, is there a better way to limit this? I am open to suggestions, but it would almost be better if I could create individual lcmbiar output files on a per user basis.  This way, when/if I need to restore someone's personal folder contents, for example, I could find them by username and import just that lcmbiar file, as opposed to all 3000 of our users.  I am not quite sure how to accomplish this...
Currently, with my limited windows scripting knowledge, I have set up a bat script to run each morning, that creates a 'runtime' properties file from a template, such that the lcmbiar file gets named uniquely for that day and its content.  Then I call the lcm_cli using the proper command.  The query within the properties file is currently very straightforward - select * from CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
To do what I want to do...
    1) I'd first need a current list of usernames in a text file, that could be read (?) in and parsed to single out each user (remember we are talking about 3000) - not sure the best way to get this.
    2) Then instead of just updating the the lcmbiar file name with a unique name as I do currently, I would also update the query (which would be different altogether):  SELECT * from CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_OWNER = '<username>' AND SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
In theory, that would grab everything owned by that user in their personal folder - right? and write it to its own lcmbiar file to a location I specify.
I just think chunking something like this is more effective and BO has no built in back up capability that already does this.  We are on BO 4.0 SP7 right now, move to 4.1 SP4 over the summer.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
    thanks,
    Missy

Just wanted to pass along that SAP Support pointed me to KBA 1969259 which had some good example queries in it (they were helping me with a concern I had over the lcmbiar file output, not with query design).  I was able to tweak one of the sample queries in this KBA to give me more of what I was after...
    SELECT TOP 10000 static, relationships, SI_PARENT_FOLDER_CUID, SI_OWNER, SI_PATH FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS,CI_APPOBJECTS,CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE (DESCENDENTS ("si_name='Folder Hierarchy'","si_name='<username>'"))
This exports inboxes, personal folders, categories, and roles, which is more than I was after, but still necessary to back up.. so in a way, it is actually better because I have one lcmbiar file per user - contains all their 'personal' objects.
So between narrowing down my set of users to only those who actually have saved things to their personal folder and now having a query that actually returns what I expect it to return, along with the help below for a job to clean up these excessive amounts of promotion jobs I am now creating... I am all set!
Hopefully this can help someone else too!
    Thanks,
    missy

  • Query to return ALL rows even those with zero counts

    Hi,
The following query will return only those rows that have a non zero count value:
select c.id, a.name, count(*) as XYZ from CON c, CUST a
    where c.help !='1' and (c.id = a.id) group by c.id, a.name order by c.id;
    The results are:
    1 ME 3
    3 YOU 4
What i want is to return all rows in CUST and the count, XYZ, that correspond to each row in CUST that matches the whare condition above, even if the count is zero.
    ie
    1 ME 3
    2 WE 0
    3 YOU 4
    Can this be done?

    You may want to get the counts then do the outer join. If you simply count with an outer join you will get 1 for 'WE' because there is a row in the cust table with 'WE'. This may work for you;
    with
      cust as (
select 1 id, 'ME' name from dual union all
select 2 id, 'YOU' name from dual union all
select 3 id, 'WE' name from dual),
      con as (
select 1 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 1 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 1 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 2 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 2 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 2 id, '2' help from dual union all
select 2 id, '2' help from dual)
    -- end of test data
    select a.id, a.name, nvl(c.cnt,0) xyz
    from cust a,
       (select id, help, count(*) cnt
       from con
       where help !='1'
       group by id, help) c
    where a.id = c.id(+)

  • SSRS report with cube – MDX query how to get an extra row with value '0'.

    Hello everyone,
I'm unable to write the MDX query to get '0' value as first row in output. Following is my MDX query:
    WITH MEMBER [Measures].[Dummy] AS   '0'
SELECT NON EMPTY Union( {[Measures].[Amount] },{[Measures].[Dummy]}) ON COLUMNS,
    NON EMPTY  { ([Customer].[Customer Nbr].[Customer Nbr].ALLMEMBERS * [Fiscal].[Year].[Year].ALLMEMBERS ) }
    having  [Measures].[Amount] > 5000
    ON ROWS FROM [cube]
With above query, the output returns the value '0' as a separate column.
I would like to get it in form of first row for [Measures].[Amount]. Like,
    Amount
    0
    500
    200
    100
What needs to be changed to achieve the above result? I'm planning to use the above value in line chart to start the line from 0th value as described in following URL. (Note: The below URL is using SQL query and not MDX expressions.)

The round brackets in your expression are forcing an implicit crossjoin between the 3 lines. I would do the following which creates a set of the DummyYear plus the real year members and then crossjoin that with the customer set.
    WITH MEMBER [Fiscal].[Year].DummyYear AS   '0'
SELECT NON EMPTY {[Measures].[Amount]} ON COLUMNS,
     NON EMPTY  {[Fiscal].[Year].DummyYear,
         [Fiscal].[Year].[Year].MEMBERS} *
                [Customer].[Customer Nbr].[Customer Nbr].MEMBERS
     having  [Measures].[Amount] > 5000
    ON ROWS FROM [cube]

  • Ability to query on all columns from a view with multiple tables

I have view with 4 tables. view has about 50 columns.
hypothetically, I want to build a form to give the user an ability to query on any of those 50 columns. user can search on one or more fields.
what is the best way to write the query to retrieve the results without performance impact.
please let me know if the question is not clear.

If you want to permit them to query any of 10 fields with no restrictions, you could create 10 separate single-column indexes. The optimizer would have to try to pick the best of these indexes if you specified multiple search criteria. But since you have a view which presumably means that you've got multiple other indexes involved for the underlying join conditions, you'd probably want/need to combine the column lists of the indexes you're adding for searches with the indexes you've created for joins, which requires looking at the text of the view and figuring out the best way to optimize the 10 single-column searches. Of course, it is possible that the optimizer could chose to do something like a b-tree to bitmap conversion on multiple indexes which could allow it to use multiple independent indexes for your queries, but that's generally not ideal performance-wise.
All this is a fancy way of saying that there probably isn't a cut and dried answer to your question. You need to figure out the queries you're trying to optimize (say, the 10 single-condition queries) and you need to figure out what set of indexes on the various underlying tables provides the best performance weighing those benefits against the cost on other side of maintenance during DML. Which is going to depend on the text of the view, the underlying tables, the existing indexes, etc.
